i really do have to hand it to the silt verses for saying "true autonomy includes the right to die on your own terms and to place yourself at risk of harm for what you believe in". seemingly an obvious logical conclusion but not one that many people are comfortable with acknowledging.

I'm always like "Oh yeah the Nightmare Times are some of my favourite content Starkid has ever put out, but they're fun additional stories and not necessarily essential for people to watch if they're into the Hatchetfield musicals." And then I think about CCRP's future or Homeless Man or Pete's brother or Miss Holloway and I'm like OH MY GOD THEY DON'T KNOW. THEY DON'T KNOW. THEY LACK CRITICAL INFORMATION. THEY DON'T--

@reddrakebird:

If there was one thing Conner Kent could put his mind to - it was sulking. If there was a world record for the number of days spent wallowing in self-pity, Kon was fairly certain he could win it outright out of sheer stubbornness. During the disaster in Metropolis, Kon had spent the entire day rescuing people from the destruction of his own rage manifested. Finally, Kal had placed his hand on his back and told him to go home. But where was home? Kon didn't know anymore. He was starting to doubt everything all over again. Hurt tugged at his heartstrings like a grappling claw from an arcade machine. Humiliation crawled up the back of his throat. Stupid boy. He spent the next several days on the moon, wanting to isolate himself from everything and everyone, lost in self-deprecating thoughts. But there it was safe to kick at the dust, pull off his shades and just yell; eyes heating up as he shot heat-vision far off into space. Screaming where nobody could hear you. It was ugly. It was lonely. But most of all it was cathartic. Memories replayed in his head; those blue saddened eyes haunting him 384,400 km away. Eventually, he had to go back to the farm. Ma would worry about him. Ma worried about everyone. And sooner or later, Krypto would track him down and then he'd have to deal with talking to Kal about his feelings. Hard pass. Kon eventually headed down to the Kent farm, spending lunch with Ma reassuring her that he'd be fine - just on a mission with his friends. It was a white lie, and one he wasn't sure she entirely bought but she didn't probe further and he appreciated that. Eventually, he got out his phone to check on Bart. That's when the number of missed calls and messages hit him; a perfect twenty. How very like Tim. His stomach wavered as he clicked on the notification, scrolling up to read from the top. At first his eyes rolled, breath hardened as Tim asked if he was okay, then a few messages later if he wanted to talk. But the more he scrolled, the more he felt his chest tighten until eventually he crumbled and messaged the other man a simple, short text back. He busied himself helping out the farm with iits chores the rest of that afternoon before heading inside to grab a shower in he early evening. Taking the time to wash the grime off his skin, Kon got out (this time with a towel wrapped around his waist), heading to Kal's old room, which had temporarily become his when the Kents unofficially adopted him. He pulled out a fresh costume and grabbed his jacket, fixing his hair in the mirror, before doing up his boots and belt and sticking his shades securely onto his face. He got to the studio in Bludhaven deliberately a minute late just to keep Tim sweating. Hovering outside Timothy's window, Kon tapped a rare and gentle knock on the glass as he floated in the air outside, waiting for permission to come in. In his other hand, he held a small box of glazed doughnuts, picked up on the way there.
He waited for Timothy to open it, before passing him the box and slipping inside, careful not to bang his head on the window frame.
"Hey." He mumbled awkwardly; no hint of anger or malice left in his voice. He'd already exhausted that harshly into space. His face saddened at the visible darkened circles underneath the smaller man's eyes and the sunken in cheeks beneath them. "Long week, no sleep huh?"

@forgivenpunishment replied to your post “He's looking a bit distracted today... and a bit...”:
"Hey, I've been lookin' all over for you... you didn't say anything when you left. Wasn't sure if you were pullin' a fast one on me." Wolfwood puts a hand on Vash's shoulder and shakes him playfully. He doesn't figure that Vash will run away from him again, but the distant way he's been acting is odd, to say the least.

"Ah...!"
The contact ripped through him like a shockwave, and it took every synapse in his brain to keep from crying out (in pain? In surprise? Something else?). Crap, r-right, he... should've said something, went back and said... but he hadn't been thinking...
The blond made himself perk up all the same, though, trying to ignore the way his stomach flipped and surged now that Wolfwood was close-- "s-sorry! Sorry-- n-no, just needed some air, and... kind of wandered off."

Miles 🩷
Anyways it’s really cool that marvel had a character who was suddenly introduced into a new timeline where they didnt previously exist and has to deal with the ramifications of that alongside the loss of their previous mentor figure and friends.
And its really on brand that they barely explored any of that with miles and made up a new white boy with some extra fanfiction style sad ritz to have that storyline instead 🤡

no like really even without the timeline context of when it leaked Hand of God is so incredibly messed up like???? FOB's always been good at public indictments of the way they've been treated, that's like, a significant amount of their discography especially prehiatus and ESPECIALLY Cork Tree which does it very bitterly and sardonically but Hand of God feels like it takes it a step farther with "which is it, the boy who writes the songs or the boy who's in them?" because like YES there is more than one way to interpret that and I'm cool with that but it's doing a massive disservice to FOB and to Pete's writing to skim over the point within the larger whole of the song that they are one and the same. the boy who writes the songs IS the one who's in them, that's been true for most of Fall Out Boy's career. they're SUPER vulnerable in their songwriting, even when it's sarcastic and tongue in cheek, there's always a piece of truth in it. they wrote an entire fricking song about Pete's suicide attempt. the boy who writes the songs has always been the one who's in them, this isn't mutually exclusive. and Hand of God is IMMENSELY self-referential. it's literally Pete writing about himself. "who's the girl, is this truth, or is he writing fiction?" were all questions asked repeatedly on their forums and in Q&As with Pete.
"I am the worst liar I know" coming from the song that is possibly the most raw, honest draft or demo from Cork Tree — which also contains lyrics such as "we're only liars, but we're the best" (tongue in cheek turnaround of criticisms against the band) and "you only hold me up like this because you don't know who I really am" and "if you say this makes you happy then I'm not the only one lying" and "it's just a matter of time until we're all found out" and "I'll keep singing this lie if you keep believing it" (in a song that was essentially the band's mission statement, for lack of a better term) and "the record won't stop skipping and the lies just won't stop slipping and besides my reputation's on the line" (in a song that Pete himself said was way too personal to play live and has also said was the first half of a story that Hum Hallelujah, which is explicitly about his suicide attempt, later completed) and "I went to sleep a poet and woke up a fraud" (Music or the Misery is on a different edition but the point still stands) and "I keep telling myself I'm not the desperate type" (in a song titled sarcastically after the medication Pete overdosed on) — is fricking insane. there's a completely unfiltered, untwisted-into-sarcasm honesty in Hand of God and even though it (rightfully, because it would have been Too Much) didn't make it onto the final album, it functions as as much of a thesis statement as Sophomore Slump does. it functions as as much of a confessional as Dark Alley. Hand of God is at the heart of Cork Tree, practically haunting it, and it isn't even on the album.
