Hello! I hope you're doing well, mentally and physically as well as financially.

I'd like to know if we could get more world lore about your Red Star verse about the animals' culture, traditions, and rituals, etc, especially the sheepfolks! I like the wedding traditions between sheeps bit. Do you mind if others also add in some ideas in their fanarts for your COTL fic, or is that a step too far?

Anyway, my main question is; do you have any lore details on Azrael and his family, or is it free estate to expand on them a bit? I have some ideas but I would like to know your thoughts on it first. Will we see more Vessel history from you?

I don’t have a whole lot of specific animal lore, but I do have some!

“Cannibalism” (I’m defining it here as the game does— consuming another sentient animal) is most common between predator and prey species. Snakes may not be willing to eat another snake in desperate times, but a mouse or a rat is fair game. That’s why Ratoo wasn’t very trusting of Ratau and Flinky’s relationship at first.

Regarding cats, there’s more specific lore:

Cats are very heavily impacted by their heat cycles. This leads to a lot of jokes/stereotypes about their supposed promiscuity.

Black cats in particular are associated with magic. This is due to a long dead tradition of Baast only choosing to elevate and train other black cats like herself in magic.

There is an old legend that says a god of life once favored cats so much they blessed them with the good fortune of nine lives; this seems to just be a fun story other cats like to tell when someone gets lucky in a dangerous situation.

Singleton births — as in, there is only one baby born per pregnancy — are more uncommon for cats. Twins and triplets tend to be more common. Kiki was a triplet, for example.

As for sheepfolk, there will be a bit more expanded on in the fic! In general, though, sheep culture tended to be collectivist. In times before the genocide, a sheep’s herd was intensely important. Decisions were made based on what was best for the group as a whole. Herds could be anywhere from between 4-5 related families or the size of entire towns.

Sheep were generally stereotyped as empathetic and kind. Herds would often help outsiders if they were able, but an outsider’s life would never be prioritized over a herd member. Because of these traits, gods of the past considered them as easy to control and the depth of their emotion could make them powerfully devoted followers. Sheep were often abducted into cults, causing many to choose a nomadic lifestyle to avoid this fate. Lambs traditionally wore bells so that their parents could always hear them, and would know if someone tried to snatch them.

Others are free to add their own ideas to fanart! They likely wont appear in the fics as I have my own intentions, but I’m always excited to see other people’s ideas and interpretations.

As for Azrael and his family, there’s a bit more behind them. Azrael was a typical ram trying to survive; like many sheep, his herd moved often in an attempt to avoid the Bishops’ genocide. He honed his skills as a warrior defending his herd’s young, sick, and elderly against the Bishops’ followers. He had a special hatred for Kallamar in particular during life; his parents died from a brutal plague he unleashed.

The actual raid that killed Azrael and most of his family was also caused by Kallamar. When Kallamar could not determine the precise location of this specific sheep settlement, he used magic to flood the entire area. The flash flood washed away their temporary shelters and separated them, allowing Kallamar’s followers to comb through the debris and kill whoever remained. This is how Azrael, his wife, and son died. His daughter was presumed dead, though her body was never found. In reality she was found half-dead by another band of sheep and raised amongst them. She lived and died believing she was the only survivor in her family, though she ironically did hear of The Fanatic— she just never imagined it could be her father resurrected.

Azrael began as a strong devotee of The One Who Waits, thus his eventual nickname as The Fanatic. He began to believe the prophecy of the Lamb — despite referring to the last Lamb — referred to him. He was one of TOWW’s most powerful vessels by far, and he slew several high ranking priests of the Bishops. TOWW encouraged this delusion to increase Azrael’s devotion and brutality, though he knew the ram would never be able to kill the Bishops or free him. As Narinder would eventually reveal to Hamal, this was just a ploy to speed up the sheep extinction and hasten his liberation.

As I’ve said, I’m always curious to see other people’s interpretations. The above is about as much lore as I have on Azrael and his family.

Re: other vessels…probably not. The vast majority of them were just distractions to keep TOWW from going totally insane and offered an opportunity to lash out at his siblings. He didn’t take note of most of them. Only those that had a specific purpose — such as the first vessel he sent to talk to his siblings, Azrael, and Ratau — were worthy of being remembered in any capacity. We’ll probably expand a teeny bit more on that first vessel, but that’ll be it.

unfortunately, im also a big fan of games made by h/y/verse (except for tot). however, i've ceased playing them because of a general disdain for the company (which has been building up since sum/ru's release, and came to a boiling point following the VA strikes and the company's decision to replace vas instead of cooperate)

COTL(MLP Base Edit Remake) "Come Little Lamb, I'll take you in as as if you were my own"

Hello Everyone, so i just created a whole new save file of my cotl save and have created midsummer's cult(my new name of my new in-game cult) with things being the same like Lambert & Narinder along with The Bishop Followers being reformed day by day with also Lambert's 3 Main Wives(Samantha Bloodsucker, Lady Dimistru & M3gan all being the same personality & lore wise) but some things being very different like having new members as set up as the very Earilest Members in Midsummer with them consisting of Raegan Goldser(a Red Goldfish Follower), Blizzard(a Blue Moose Follower) & Roari & Ruri(Whom are a Pink Lioness & Black Lynx Respectfully) and Finally Lucos(a Blue Snail Follower) which all of them will be focused on through the new cult save!

Now as for the finished edit i made for fun tonight as a late night base edit including S O U P(Secret Oblivion Universal Parental) with S O U P being their Acronym Name/Nickname from Lamb as his chosen name.

In the MLP-inspo Verse for COTL S O U P is a Immortal Male Alicorn and decides to adopt Lamb as his Foster Parent(aka Space Mother from Lambert sometimes) and with S O U P going by Non-Binary Pronouns(They/Them) and appreciates and loves lambert as his foster son in their lifeform with ratau being his revived father figure and since lambert and lamberina are the last lambs alive and are orphans together.

i feel i did a pretty good design for Mystic Figure(???) in this edit and made him have a Heavenly Angel/Archangel feel & look to them including me drawing lambert as a Late Teen Early Young Adult yrs(ages 19-21) with his freckles being a birth thing.

so overall the midsummer cult is the new main cult focus(since i speedrun the whole game since i already know everything including the dlc storyline) so overall i'm waiting for the 2nd amajor update aka the accessitbility update at the end of this year.

//Finally completed COTL, at least the main game. Still got a lot of postgame to do (which I'm hyped for).

For a long while I was stuck in the Silk Cradle because no matter how many hearts and upgrades I'd get, I'd always be down to my last half a heart before or literally at the final part of the map, leaving me clearly knowing I won't last the boss fight of that crusade. And even if I brought Hathor, he ain't givin me shit. Either I was burning out and getting sloppy with combat, or I'm bad at video games, or the Switch framerate being fucky if I play longer than an hour, or the game in general still has overall quality of life issues, it was just unplayable for a bit. So I waited a couple major updates, and now..... lmao, Narinder is a breeze with the Heavy and Relics mechanics.

Having your followers cook for you is a GODSEND, but eeeeuuuuughh, I'm not liking that sudden rise in hunger rates lmao. I used to be able to last several days with over 100 Splendid Vegetable Feasts in reserve, but now that supply is gobbling up in a couple--and nearly gone should I go on a 20 minute crusade.

I realize the story of the Lamb is less the Master and more probably Ulan... or Giovanni should he complete the hidden goal he has for the Master as revenge for Guangzhou. Maybe a mix of both. Because I realize this skrunkly thing

That's Ebano. That's fucking Ebano. The One Who Waits is the true "Master", especially given he gives you the Red Crown (his Eye/his gifts) and wants it back so he can be freed and in full power again.

So either I'm splitting the role of the Master between the Lamb and Narinder, giving the Lamb an Ulan or Giovanni role, or some mix and match, who knows. It's not a 1:1, it's just for fun. I just adore the idea of cute little animals being subjected to things that, if I even looked at this in grade/middle/high school, I'd be locking myself up in a church praying 24/7 begging God for forgiveness. But they'd also ask me to worship Trump, so fuck my school environments, I'm going eat mushrooms with my homies and then butcher my elders to cannibalize later once they die.

Either way, as I was playing, I was just playing as myself figuring out the game and not actually roleplaying like I typically do. But the more I think about it... yeah. Cooks, gifts people, marries everyone, picks up cute animal poop, has a literal Golden Touch episode and is swimming in gold, looks cute, fluffy, and sweet, is an actual fucking murderhobo who smiles when gutting open his enemies.... I realize I was Giovanni the whole time lmao.

But for the sake of roleplay, COTL!Verse Gio is the little yellow frog, not the Lamb. I do not intend to actually RP the Lamb themselves, though I can picture Frog!Gio trying to steal the Red Crown for himself like a GREEDY ASSHOLE.

So tl;dr, no I decided the Master is better as Narinder and Gio and the Lamb, but as they are canon characters in COTL, I'm only mentally putting them in the roles and not actually as them. In actual RP, Gio is a frog, and the Master is.... well, probably whoever their old god is, and said god is after them for choosing a new Master. But goddamn, now I want Gio to attempt to steal the Red Crown for himself and get severely punished for it. And hey, it's COTL, if he gets killed, he can get resurrected.

6. Who raised your lamb?

Their sister, Marie, for as long as she could. After a couple of months of wandering alone, they stayed with an alpaca couple for a few years. The alpaca couple was killed when heretics found out abt them and tried to capture them.

29. Did your lamb take any followers as partners?

No, but the cult thinks they and Odell (first follower, albino deer) were together for a time. Narinder may or may not have had a one sided beef with him bc of that lol

32. Is your lamb merciful? Did they ever refuse to spare someone? Is so, why?

They largely are, surprisingly! In most cases they'll give at least a second chance to someone. They're very capable of cruelty, but their nature is often on the softer side and it's a thing they grapple with since the crown (and Narinder) demand blood for most offences. Usually when they feel a little too worked up over someone steping on their hooves they will go cool of on a crusade or pay visit to Death.

Whether or not they spare someone hinges on the severity of what they've done, but one thing they do not forgive under any circumstance is disturbing graves or the grieving, no matter your personal relationship with either. The biggest example of this rule, and the most disliked decision among their following, is that the Old Faith's witnesses and priests are allowed to grieve and tend to the statues of their bishops and Lambert has sacrificed and/or exiled people for getting in the way of that. They weren't allowed to even bury their sister and despite feeling spiteful and resentful over it, they refuse to take that from anyone else.

4. Does the Red Crown give him any unique powers such as the power of rot (a la TROD AU)?

Okay so he has a couple! I'm a big fan of the clasic decaying/rotting things with his hands ofc, however the innate power here would be to shorten a person's life, to drain the very mortality from them so that they may cross his domain faster. But because he's insane, at some point in his bishop life he engraved runes into his bones that amplify this into outright rotting. He's basically preforming little mini rituals everytime he rots something :3 (imagine the hand is more boney im still too artblocked to do bones 😔)

He's aware of the soul and his third eye let's him see things that are normally invisible to normal people (be it magic traces, ghosts, places where the veil between the overworld and the Gateway is thin, illnesses, ect ect).

He is also an incredible conduit for any sort of magic and very easily resonates with spells or rituals and the Crown enhances that by a lot. Fun fact, his favourite spells to cast are common channeling/charging types that are generally weak but he overloads them with magic to the point of them almost combusting, thus turning them far deadlier than the more complicated ones in his arsenal :3

Also when the Red Crown is fully his, he cannot die because it'll keep on regenarating any injury. A fragment of a bone could be what's left of him and he'll be up and about in mere minutes! (Big reason why he was chained in the first place besides him being family and all. They simply couldn't kill him even if they wanted to.)

17. How ears is he on a scale of 1-10?

A solid 7 I'd say. He definitely wakes up with his ears folded inside out lol
