a lot can happen in a year. 

from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, i've been on six or seven new medications (give or take). i went from being unemployed for over a year and a half to having a part time job that pays the same as my last. i went from hardly ever leaving the house to seeing movies and going out with friends. i started doing therapy again. and i rejoined tumblr, something i wasn't sure I'd ever do again. i've never been overly fond of social media to begin with, and i wasn't sure if I was even making the right decision to start using it again. i had been in fandom communities off and on for years, with experiences far more negative than they ever were positive, and i couldn't be sure that this would be any different. 

i am so very glad to say i was wrong.

i've talked about elvis on a handful of occasions now, but allow me, if you will, the chance to be sentimental about its significance one last time. prior to june of this year i had no real concept of what baz lurhmann had planned when he released elvis 2022 into the world. yet another musical biopic, this time carried on the shoulders of a relative unknown? i have always had love for baz lurhmann's artistry, but this seemed like a long shot, even for him. 

still, it had my attention. 

i had given up on any attempts to connect with my family after years of false promises, spending most of my summer feeling isolated from most of the people in my life for one reason or another. i decided I'd treat myself to something after the way the year had gone thus far. knowing my dad liked elvis, i convinced him to go see the movie with me on its opening weekend, thinking we both might get something out of it.

it was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences i've ever had sitting in a theater.

i went on to see elvis seven more times in theaters, each time wondering whether or not the magic would wear off and it would lose its opulent, cinematic luster. in reality, it only ever burned brighter and brighter, giving me a love and appreciation of elvis presley that i wouldn't otherwise have beyond the simple enjoyment of music i had listened to off and on for as long as i can remember. it introduced me to a talent whose performance was so captivating it made me overlook tom hanks in every scene he was in. and, perhaps more than anything, it introduced me to people who were not only like-minded in their experience with this film, but were unwavering in their kindness and their friendship.

elvis is not the entity of my tumblr experience (this being my 4th time interacting on the platform). there are many other people and types of content i have interacted with since starting this blog and, if you have made it this far, i simply want to thank everyone for the memories they have given me at a time when I needed it most. 

to the people who colour my dash with their passion for the things they love most. my dash would not be the same without you.

You never thought you’d have the cold barrel of a gun pressed to your temple, yet here you are. Your eyes stare into Elvis’ blue ones unwaveringly as you gulp away your nervousness. The gun isn’t loaded, but still, the idea of it being held to your head is unnerving. It’s kind of sexy.

Elvis’ hips snap into yours, his thrusts are quick and rough as the barrel pushes harder into your skin. Your heart is racing, and you swear he can hear it by the devilish smirk on his face.

“It’s thrilling, isn’t it? Having this gun pointed directly at ya?” Elvis moves the gun from your temple to the middle of your forehead, running his tongue across his bottom lip hungrily.

You know he’d never hurt you on purpose, but the way he’s looking at you like he’s a predator and you’re the prey sends a shiver through your body. The cool metal against your forehead contrasts the heat radiating from your body as Elvis relentlessly pounds into you. Elvis isn’t allowing even an inch of mercy as he moves the barrel to your cheek, pressing it into your teeth.  You breathe heavily through your nose as your adrenaline spikes. Again, the gun has no bullets in it, but the idea of it is enough to send your body numb. Elvis wraps his free hand around your neck, applying his body weight to it as he chokes you out. The feeling of the weapon and the slight loss of oxygen dizzies you. The sound of Elvis’ moaning and your arousal as he slams into your core is floating around your head. You’ve never felt so good in your life, oddly enough.

“Feels so good,” you muster up words, alerting Elvis that you’re still present despite your evident lightheadedness.

“Good,” he grins, coaxing your lips further open with the gun, motioning for you to take it into your mouth.

You suck the barrel into your mouth, swirling your tongue around it sensually. You let Elvis thrust the gun between your lips at the same time he thrusts into you. The amount of lust he’s feeling right now looking at you like this is insurmountable. Nothing could ever top this. His grip on your throat loosens as his hips move sloppily, his orgasm sneaking up on him. ♡ I have a female orange tabby (they're super rare) her name is Baby like Baby from dirty dancing and I have recently adopted a dog, her name is Earth and she's a Malamute Heeler mix.

♡ I run my own business I make jewelry and sell crystals that's just part time though I'm a teacher full time.

♡ My Grandma has influenced my love for so many things, she's given me my love for gardening, cooking, musicals, and most importantly my love for Elvis.

♡ When I was younger probably around 6 my dad convinced me that he was spiderman. He would put on the spiderman suit and my mum would wake me up and some how he managed to dangle himself from my ceiling all while shooting "webs". He had me convinced that he was spiderman till I was 12 that's when I found the Spidey suit under the bed with the fake web stuff. So I hold spiderman near and dear to my heart💓

Being on the tour bus with the rest of the Memphis Mafia with Elvis’ hand up your skirt was not how you planned today. You’re having a deep discussion with Jerry and Billy about whether or not Elvis should ditch the Colonel and go on a world tour. I think lilo and stich?? I Don’t have a clear memory lol. The times I did hear of him were like a show or movie referencing him but never him on his own. Remember those 50s music CD compilation commercials?? I remember hearing blue Christmas on one and liked it when it came on. I always heard some of his songs like snippets.

•And what was your first impression?

I saw photos of him before. I low key thought he was half black lol (a lot of family in my moms side are very fair skinned and Elvis low key looks some of them lol)

•Lace shirts or jumpsuits?

The jumpsuits are iconic but seeing the lace shirts were a nice surprise. So, lace shirts

•You can steal one of Elvis/Austin’s outfits, what’s it going to be?

The pink suit from the Louisiana hayride performance. It’s so flashy for the time and it’s pink!! The way it’s kinda flowy as well!! I love it!!

•C’mon, we know you’ve been watching/reading old interviews and random footage of the man, so what’s your favorite random Elvis quote?

Not many actually lol. I have read Elvis and me by priscilla tho. But I saw that clip where he scared one of the members of the sweet inspirations(cissy Houston I think) when they were performing suspicious minds. Man was a menace lol

Did you find Austin Butler’s lips distracting despite them being in a movie about the King of plush upper lips? (Be honest now)

Yeah I was just in awe of Austin’s face the whole movie I had my hand on my chest to calm myself lol

•What was your favorite aspect/scene from the Elvis 2022 movie?

It was the Vegas rehearsal for a while but now it’s also the first 30 mins of the movie lol the intro when he’s singing GLORY GLOOOOORRRY HALLEJUUUUAAAAA HIS TRUUUUUUUUTH IS MAAAAAAAAAARRRRCHING OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON. All the music in this movie was perfect!

You can choose only one song or piece of media to convince someone to become an Elvis fan, what is it going to be?

If I can dream. I heard the song when I watched the biopic with Jonathan Rhys meyers and I loved it. It’s a beautiful song. The way Baz’s movie did it and the way austin performed it was sooooo good!

•How long have you been an Austin Butler fan (be honest now, God is watching)

Since June 28, 2022 lol. I knew of his brief appearances on teen nick and Disney channel and I knew he was dating venessa hudgens but never knew his name or nothing. But I’m so glad he got to play Elvis!! Like I’m sooo happy he was good!! I didn’t think much of him til now and I was blown away and still am lol

•Is Austin Butler an honorary southerner now? Answer options: A. hell no, California can keep his sweet cheeks. B. hell yes, he’s practically been possessed by the soul of the King of the South

1. One of the coolest things that’s happened to me is that Sean Astin personally gave me the Goonie pledge and I almost died. I’m officially a Goonie. ☠️

2. I’ve had a Disneyland annual pass for the better part of 15 years - it’s one of my happy places.

3. I lived in NYC for 2 years and while it wasn’t the place for me to live long-term, I love going back for visits and to see theater.

4. Current fave TV shows: Succession, Trying, Cobra Kai, Outlander, anything Star Trek, Never Have I Ever.

5. I love going to concerts and seeing my favorite musicians live - so far this year I’ve seen George Strait, The Avett Brothers, John Mayer and New Kids On The Block.

6. I grew up listening to music from the 50s & 60s - The Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, The Supremes, and one of my very first loves, Elvis.

7. Speaking of musicians from another era, I’ve been able to see some of the greats live: Simon & Garfunkel, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac (original lineup!) and more.

8. I don’t have any tattoos but there’s an artist in LA called Winterstone who I’ve always wanted a tattoo from…I have an appointment for next year - the waitlist was 2 years long…we’ll see if I actually go through with it.

9. I love to bake, especially for other people and especially around the holidays.

10. I’m slightly obsessed with time travel, and will talk about it without fail whenever I’m feeling silly. I have a plan of how to try it out haha and the first place I’m heading back to is the ‘68 Comeback Special. (Elvis - I. Am. Coming. For. You.)
