Sasuke: Obsesses over Naruto and his strength
Sakura fans: Is this Sasuke thinking about his love for Sakura
It’s amazing how SS fans can ALWAYS make everything about Sakura.
Sasuke leaves the village?
“Ah! He wants to become a better man for Sakura”
Sasuke puts her under a genjutsu?
“He just wants to protect her. And developed incredible telepathic abilities to transmit to her also Naruto-only’s memories.”
Sasuke doesn’t try to kill her spontaneously?
“Ah! He doesn’t want to hurt her! No, it’s not AT ALL as if the reason he was hell bent on killing Naruto was because he was the only person alive that could make him feel less lonely. Naruto was just the only one *check notes* strong enough to stop him (I’ve to have conjured the VotE2 speech in my head).”
Sasuke leaves for 12y?
“He’s only protecting the village and in novel 2727673 it says they stay in touch even tho he never met Sarada but that’s fine because he’s protecting her and her identity as Uchiha (in the meantime: Sakura going undercover with the Uchiha’s fan all over her clothes).”
I could keep going forever.
More seriously, probably seeing Sakura smiling was another proof of the fact that Naruto was changing. That it was envy, and not jealousy, is proved by the next pages, in which Sasuke only thinks about Naruto getting stronger obsessively.
But they never read the manga, so don’t be surprised ✨

I partly agree with all of this, but for one thing: the actual ending, when Naruto agrees to part ways with Sasuke.
Until then, they're both lost orphans with violent pasts and upbringings. They are both let down by Konoha and the Land of Fire. And I 100% agree Kishi should have taken this further and actually adressed the System's wrongdoings.
I also agree that Naruto somewhat starts off as the villain. He's a selfish kid, prone to violent outbursts and with deep anger management issues symbolised by the nine-tails. Sasuke is, on the other hand, pretty selfless and heroic. He may be cold, but he sacrifices his goal or life to help his team mates, and shows supports many times. Sasuke shows Naruto what a proper team mate, and hero, is. I think this explains part of Naruto's obsession with Sasuke -because Sasuke is the only hero around, and Naruto needs him to be, so he can turn into a hero himself. Naruto is also the only person who keeps trying to reach to this more vulnerable side of Sasuke, when everyone else gives up.
I also agree that Naruto is wrong about chasing Sasuke most of the story. However, he fails during VOTE1 because of it. He fails many times again because he doesn't understand what Sasuke actually stands for or feels. In the end, during VOTE2, he only suceeds because he finally proves to Sasuke that he's not only chasing him out of selfishness, but because he empathises with him. Naruto doesn't need Sasuke anymore, because he's learnt how to be comfortable with himself and overcome his own traumas. He's free of that selfish need, and it turned into want. He wants Sasuke to be okay. Sasuke only surrenders because Naruto isn't demanding he comes back anymore, or telling him to come back, but merely showing concern. Naruto actually learnt to care, which is what his whole journey is about. He wanted to become Hokage, but what he needed was to learn how to make a friend.
In the (proper) ending, Sasuke basically agrees to coexists with Naruto and his views of the world, saying he wants to travel to learn about other values and possible ways to work things out, while still warning Naruto they may clash again and their values may never see eye to eye. (I do love that ending).
It took the entire story for Naruto to figure out a way to communicate. In the end, he's not forcing his own values on Sasuke anymore, and he gave him hope that there may be another path than self-destruction to achieve Sasuke's goal. Naruto is not Hokage, just a supportive friend, and Sasuke walks the path of recovery. They both have a lot to figure out and (if we ignore the following chapters and sequels), the ending is left open, with no answer as to what they'll do. Perhaps Naruto will help Sasuke take down the System, perhaps Sasuke with settle somewhere quiet and raise sheeps. Neither have a definite plan. They're not stuck in their pasts and what others (and the system) told them to be anymore.
Then, of course, Naruto turns into Boruto's dad and shit all over this message, which makes your analysis right and the entire Naruto saga pointless.
I wish I saw more either anti Naruto or critical looks at how Naruto embodies the violence of Konoha.
Even among "pro Sasuke" people, they are either in SNS or don't talk about Naruto very generally.
Naruto aggressively, and obsessively, pursues Sasuke throughout the entire manga and this is somehow viewed as romantic.
But Naruto is, in actuality, a villain! And I wish people really understood this and talked about him in this light.
There was a long ass post about Itachi that I reblogged yesterdag that finally has a bit in the end about Naruto who cant even articulate his goals in regards to Sasuke when he meets Itachi.
I actually don't consider Sasuke's emotional revelations in the end of the manga canon because we never see how Sasuke thinks about anything until the end. Sasuke is PURE metaphor, you have to really pay attention to him to see what his deal is, but all of a sudden we see that he was actually inspired by Naruto/liked him this whole time in these shitty flashbacks?
Bullshit. 🤬
I think these were added to give weight to Naruto's obsession; it can now be justified because Sasuke actually liked Naruto this whole time! And the reasons for their fight also give weight to this (Naruto is my only friend, etc etc).
Main characters are supposed to get what they want; that's kinda how it works. But the themes of Naruto, and Naruto himself (who embodies those themes), just mean violence when he wins.
I saw somewhere that Kishimoto intended for Naruto and Sasuke to always reconcile, but the state and the revolutionary can't reconcile. You either defeat the state or die at the hands of it. And in Sasuke's case, you get assimilated (and subsequently brainwashed). And many radicals also assimilate, typically into the academy, or through class ascension.
The ending is just really terrible, and Naruto is so thoroughly unlikable that I find it odd more people don't do deep dives into his dysfunctional and obsessive pursuit of Sasuke.
And although Sakura gets *a lot* of grief for chasing after Sasuke, no one ever complains about how Naruto straight up told Jiriya that he wanted to be recognized by Sasuke and that is what drove him to get stronger.
(When you code Naruto's obsession with Sasuke as romantic, then it becomes easier to accept this aggression. Especially when Sasuke rarely rejects him outright, which isnt the case for Sakura. But Naruto's interest in Sasuke is selfish, and actually has very little to do with Sasuke himself. Just like Sakura).
It feels VERY refreshing to see anyone talk about how violent Naruto is throughout the manga toward Sasuke. And in OG Naruto, the violence is more poignant/obvious because they're on the same team.
The main reason I think Sasuke almost never rejects Naruto outright is because it would have been a different story; for the current narrative to work, Sasuke has to on some level accept/acknowledge Naruto. I think it actually would have embodied some of the themes better if Sasuke HAD rejected him (ie chose not to fight him at VoTE - either one/didnt call him his friend to the Sage/etc).
I dont want to muse too much about it because the manga is done, we are trapped with Boruto and that show has DEFINITELY destroyed Sasuke (and every other theme from Naruto honestly).
All I am asking is to see more analysis about Naruto that depicts him as his is; a selfish, obsessive person who pursued Sasuke in his quest to be acknowledged by him.
(I might have to embark on this quest alone, but going forward, if I see any good, non-shipping related content to this, I will reblog).

There’s this song that reminds me so much of Sasuke and Naruto and their whole dynamic, especially Sasuke’s side of things.
The song!
Everything I Cannot See - Charlotte Gainsbourg
The line “And the stars hang like noose” reminds me so much of how Naruto stares at the stars, just longing for Sasuke. So many metaphors kind of connect with them and it’s a little uncanny.
Anyways, if you’d like, I would love to know your opinion!
Hi.
I've mentioned before that I don't think SNS' relationship is perfect. Their obsessiveness towards one another is one facet of their relationship that is interesting to explore. The lyrics of the song essentially showcase how much influence a person can have over another because of love, which is a double-edged sword.
Sasuke views Naruto as a weakness. I think Naruto annoys Sasuke to some extent, or rather, Sasuke's feelings for Naruto are what annoy him. Because Sasuke can see himself being happy with Naruto and live for something other than revenge, as we saw in part 1. But how dare he? How dare Naruto make Sasuke feel that way since Sasuke's primary reason for getting up in the morning is to get strong enough to kill Itachi? So Naruto elicits conflicting feelings within Sasuke which he tries to suppress. He can't bring himself to kill Naruto at vote1 yet rationalises to himself and others that he spared Naruto's life on a whim, so on and so forth. Eventually all of that culminates into Sasuke deciding once and for all that he has to kill Naruto because he likes him too much. If Naruto has to die it has to be by Sasuke's hand too - 'The one who is going to cut off the past is me.'
Naruto's obsession with Sasuke is more straightforward. What was it that Sai said? 'This obsession with Sasuke is absurd'? Yes, Naruto was worried for Sasuke's safety when he went to Orochimaru. Yes, Naruto didn't want Sasuke to be alone for the rest of eternity at vote2. But if you look back a lot of what Naruto did in the story was because of Sasuke in some way shape or form. He was willing to throw his life and dream away for Sasuke. The iconic, 'I'll bear the burden of your hatred and die with you!' is romantic sure, but also over the top. Just as crazy as wanting to kill someone because you like them too much.
As much as they are each other's strength they are each other's weakness, and there's a desperation in that which is really highlighted in some of the lyrics. Kishimoto also gave SNS a lot of symbolism so the stars etc fit well. Well, after their reconciliation most of their obsessiveness simmered down from a blazing 'let's die together'/I'm gonna kill you' mentality into something softer. They're still each others most precious person though and they'd do anything for each other. 'It's all meaningless without you', 'I feel the same way.' Essentially like the lyrics say 'you're my life.'

Hey anti sasusaku. Did you know that Sasuke is damaged, he is a mess and he needs someone dedicated to him. Sakura has always been there for him. Sakura filled his lonely existence with love. She loved him no matter what and he appreciated that. She was one of his dear precious persons and she meant a lot to him.
Sakura’s love has always been shown to be an enduring, selfless and nurturing love, the type that Sasuke needed, craved but rejected. Sakura is also a medical ninja so that fits. She is caricatured to be the lover of the series. Her dreams are about love, she is traditionally feminine. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a phenomenal woman but she’s also a traditional Japanese woman. Sakura’s character is also shown to be a devoted character.  She had and has to deal with so much. She has to be Sasuke’s rock.
This doesn’t mean that Sasuke doesn’t contribute to this relationship.
Sasuke is the only person who can make her feel on top of the world. He is her prince charming. She wants his love, his recognition and she wants to be with him and Sasuke gave that to Sakura after the war ended. he gave that to Sakura when he is mentally stable already.
SasuSaku have a really intense and mature relationship more than any of the hetero or even homo ships in Naruto.
*cracks knuckles* Okay
Please be prepared, this is going to be a long one.
Hello Anon. Did you know that almost everything that you said about Sakura and Sasuke's equation is extremely one sided? She wants the love and relationship of a man who on multiple occasions called her annoying?
Tumblr media
Keeping that in mind, all of what you wrote was all about what Sakura felt and wanted out of her relationship with Sasuke - an idealistic world. None of it was felt or reciprocated by Sasuke.
This is also the same man who tried to kill her? One of them being a horrible gennjustu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakura was crushing on a classic pretty boy, which is understandable and common but did she know a thing about him? Did she know that he was orphaned before making an off handed comment like this? And for someone who you claim to love so much, to the point where you are ready to turn your back on your village and for a pretty long time too, how can you not know this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She may have "loved" him, and I am using the term "loved" very lightly here because I think she had an obsessive crush on him but he couldn't give rat's furry butt about her feelings. I am not saying he didn't recognize as a team mate, because he did, and for a brief moment in time, before Itachi's resurfacing, he had started feeling a little better.
But better did not mean that he fell in love with Sakura. In fact, the only person he considered close to him till now, as we can see in Boruto, is Naruto. Kakashi was his sensei so he had that basic respect for him and Sakura was a team mate and maybe a friend at best but nothing more.
In the multiple recaps and monologues that Sasuke has ever made about his lonely existence, the ONLY person who he kept and yearned to keep by his side ( and did too) was Naruto. In order to become truly alone, it was not Sakura who needed to be killed. It was Naruto. He mentioned this in both, VotE1 and VotE2. You see who fills his lonely existence in the multiple OC and EC too.
For Sakura, a pretty competent medic nin, to push herself on Sasuke, constantly, demanding a romantic relationship despite his multiple rejections feels odd, in fact, it's toxic. And he maintained that rejection throughout the series. That's not good on either parties.
When someone is mentally unwell, the last thing they need is a pushy person who wished to pursue a romantic relationship with them, irrespective of what happens or how many ever times said person has been rejected.
BTW this is the same Sakura who doesn't know if Sasuke wore glasses and their date lasted 2 minutes in Boruto. If Sasuke cared that much, there wouldn't be so many panels showing Sakura's constant disappointment in the distant nature and apathetic way Sasuke treats her. And it has been proven on multiple occasions that when it comes to emotions, Sasuke is the farthest from cold. In fact he burns intensely, like fire.
Despite having a child with the woman who was supposedly his rock, he never contacted her. For 12 years. 12 YEARS. And its not that he wasn't capable of contacting because he did keep in touch with Naruto as, once again, proven by canon. If you think your partner disappearing on you for 12 years after you have given birth to their child is "giving them the world" then I guess yeah, he did.
Sasuke and Sakura couldn't be further away from mature. Examples of mature relationship include Ino and Sai, Shikamaru and Temari, Naruto and Sasuke ( they feel INTENSELY for each other), Minato and Kushina. To some extent Fugaku and Mikoto too.
I hope I was able to answer you well. I am not trying to convert you or whatever, I cannot be bothered about who ships what ship. You do you. But these are my reasons (with facts) as to why I feel that SasuSaku is a toxic relationship that ideally, should have never happened but since it is canon, its a horrible one.

Hiya! I’m sasuledelicatessen- well, I don’t know if you ship SNS but I want to know, if you do, what made you ship them? I want to know your version
Well, it's kind of long.
I've been following the Naruto franchise since 2007 and initially I was into the anime/manga for the action and the unique storyline that it presented, as well as the art-style (I’m a sucker for unique art-style). The concept of Naruto (the character) being the "underdog”, the introduction of ninjutsu and chakra and the integration of Japanese folklore into the story overall what made me sort of a Naruto addict, if you will.
Anyway...
I’ve always thought that the rivalry between Naruto and Sasuke were interesting at first in Part 1. When they “accidentally” kissed, at first I thought nothing of it and chalked it up to anime humor, not knowing the huge significance that scene brought (among others) years down the line in their relationship (and the progression of the storyline). Them challanging each other, the playful bickering, teasing each other, I initially chalked it up to the whole “boys will be boys” trope until watching the end episodes in the “Land of Waves” arc of Part I. The way Sasuke sacrificed himself for a boy (Naruto) he barely knew sparked something in their relationship that will change the dynamics of the relationship moving forward...
The reasons why I ship SNS has changed since 2007, although it still stands that the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke are among the strongest bonds in the entire story. Me being a crazed teenager that I was at the time, I initially shipped them because they looked ‘cute’ or ‘hot’ together. This is when I started looking into SasuNaru fanart and fanfiction around that time, because it was such a unique pairing. The Uchiha in general are some of the most beautifully drawn characters I’ve seen, thus far. No wonder it was mentioned that it was hard drawing Sasuke back then, I mean just look at him! And well, Naruto seemed to be the only person that he ever payed attention to in the manga, and actually smiled around (because it takes ALOT to get Sasuke to show any emotion). Their interactions during the Chunin arc, how Naruto showed deep concern for Sasuke during his lowest points (when Itachi attacked Sasuke, etc), how Naruto acted around Saskue sort of sparked new beginnings of a deeper bond than I realized. And it was the same with Sasuke, how he had shared his lunch with Naruto in their first meeting despite consequences, him somehow always to Naruto’s rescue.
VotE1 is what sealed the deal for me then when I noticed that the Sasuke x Naruto bond was deeper than just a friendship. The passion and heartache they had for each other, even as they were fighting was just too intense. Noone that I’ve seen in this story had that much feelings for each other than these two. And when it was over, and Sasuke had this look in his eyes when he saw Naruto unconscious on the ground, I just knew that there was love involved, even when I just looked at their relationship as ‘cute’ ship at the time.
Watching Shippuden to its end, after years of being away from the Naruto fandom, I began to understand what Sasuke went through and how much pain and lonliness he was actually in. The UCM was no joke and it took away what was most important to Sasuke (his family) and destroyed his deep love and admiration for Itachi. At first, I didn’t understand his character, and wrote him of as ‘emo’, annoying and obssesed with his revenge because I truly thought he was ‘ungrateful’ for what he left behind in Konoha *chuckles.* And honestly, I thought Naruto’s obsession with Sasuke was no better and believed he should’ve given up on Sasuke. But then, as I began to truly understand both characters as a whole and their backgrounds, I noticed that they can’t truly live without each other. Naruto’s “I will consume all your hatred and die with you” was said with so much passion and love, it’s hard not to look at them as just “good friends,” although their interactions at this point was more volatile, I could see that Naruto’s admiration for Sasuke grew stronger. Naruto having a panic attack over Sasuke being executed, begging on his knees for forgiveness from the Raikage, Naruto constantly having thoughts of Sasuke’s well-being to the point of obsessiveness, it made me think “ Wow! Naruto must really be in love with Sasuke.” Especially when everyone else (even Sakura of all people) seemed to give up and consider Sasuke “irredeemable.” I was even surprised at some the things Naruto said in regards to Sasuke, thinking it was weird to think of a mere ‘friend’ like this. I always saw their relationship as more twisted, violent and beautiful. Some folks may say their bond was unhealthy and one-sided (on Naruto’s end), but I think in this universe, it seems that way due to the fact that Naruto and Sasuke were both fucked up, emotionally.
During the war arc, when both are reunited, it’s like they were back to being their old selves. Them discovering that they are indeed soulmates (in the most literal sense because they are reincarnations Hagoromo’s sons) demonstrated that both Naruto and Sasuke’s bond transcends beyond friendship and even romance (although it’s fine to look at them as either one). They were like yin and yang, the sun and moon among the stars. In their final battle at VotE2, I looked at it as them getting out their repressed feelings they had for each, because they knew that they cared loved each other too much for them to ‘kill.’ It was at that point in the end of their fight Sasuke felt the most vulnerable, probably since he was child. Other than Itachi, Naruto is the only other person to truly make Sasuke at peace, and knowing that he was never truly alone, even though it seemed that the whole world was against him. Naruto never gave up on him, and knew him on a deeper level than even those that were considered close to them (Sakura, Kakashi, etc.). When Sasuke cried, it showed to me that he was most happy being with the one he loved.
When I heard that Sakura got paired with Sasuke way back, I was very disappointed, not only because it insulted Sakura’s character and eliminated most chances for her to grow as a female character, Sasuke is a type of character that was too complex to just ‘marry off.’ Naruto was more tolerable, even though he never really gave Hinata any deep thoughts other than a friend/comrade. I knew SNS wasn’t happening, no matter the obvious signs and it being the most developed relationship in the Naruto manga. And Kishimoto kept dropping hints all over the place, giving fans hope. A homosexual relationship, even implied, is something the Shonen audience isn’t ready for right now. I do believe Masashi Kishimoto intended to have at least an open ending with the manga because honestly, the so-called “canon” pairings were not well thought out and was rushed. Sasusaku is so unbelievable and poorly written, no wonder it’s not well received among alot of the fans. Sasuke’s character was pretty ruined after Gaiden, because it ruined the potentials for a beautiful relationship (SNS) for a sequel. And so much was left unresolved. It’s all...dissapointing.
Woah! That was long. I hope that answers your question. Long story short, yes I do ship SNS to the nth degree!

So I dunno if anyone would like care But the manga does actually have an in canon explaination for Naruto's last minute “healing” abilities and Sasuke's sudden proficiency with the Rinnegan in those final battles. There's also some decent evidence for why the Senju don't have the mokuton and even why Naruto can't use it, though he could have if he wasn't a jinchuuriki. but its a whole thing and I'll probably make the post for me if nothing else. But ANYWAY I started thinking about it with those “Sakura has the Mokuton” posts…which I don't hate/dislike really but I feel like kinda misses a point about Tsunade and Sakura that was half-assedly made (so I don't blame anyone for not seeing it, or disagreeing with me) and would have been made a lot better if Sakura hadn't been so unpopular while the manga was running cause like…shonen jump sucks guys. Like it really sucks. I don't think it's a coincidence that two of the Big Three wiffled around boring fight scenes for eons before farting out an epilogue bathed in bad haircuts and heteronormative/undeveloped “families” before the creators jumped ship to just leave (bleach) or wash his hands of the property (naruto). Honestly. Cause like
Kishimoto once said that jump made him do the chuunin exams, when he'd planned on having Naruto travel around and learn stuff about the world and likely meet ppl and get ready to be a kage…I bet this is why some of the villages are so hinted and developed, cause it's likely the story was gonna GO to these places. But jump wanks hard over TOURNAMENTS and fights and anyway the chuunin exam was p awesome, so…it did work out there. The war arc….not so much. Better people than me have broken down that tho so I'm gonna talk about the thing I wanna talk about which is Tsunade and Sakura. So like…in the fight with Madara, we find out that Hashirama was OP as fuck, and could HEAL WITHOUT HANDSIGNS OMG (Madara like…drools over this srsly) and Tsunade doesn't lol about that, or Madara’s reverence, so it's clear that was like A Big Deal back in the day. And Hashirama is like…the god of god shinobi. That…is one fuckoff huge shadow to live under?? Like how do you top that? He healed, had an amazing “bloodline” ability, went up against all the bijuu like NBD, and ~changed the world~. We never learn about Tsunade's parents and honestly…I think it's because they never crawl out from Hashirama’s shadow…this is a total headcanon admittedly, but I don't think they died early, since that'd likely be a part of her trauma. But anyway. With Madara, Tsunade is like “I couldn't do what my grandfather did, so I made my OWN DAMN WAY.” And whips up the yin seal. And I hate that this came SO LATE into canon and not before because that's a COOL THING?
Like Tsunade couldn't be Hashirama so she became the Greatest Medic of All Time….thats a HELL of a way to break out of Hashirama’s shadow. And like…people will remember Hashirama as a legend but I like to think that Tsunade is more tangible as an idol for people, idk.
She made that yin seal, and I feel like she probably laid the foundation for all modern medical ninjutsu, and probably was a seal master in her own right. I wish we'd gotten more about Tsunade other than her trauma, she's fucking awesome?? The only actual Sannin, let's be real cause orochimaru is a shit and Jiraiya is a dumpster fire. But this whole shindig is supposedly about Sakura, cause I had a point about her and her character:
Sakura is like The Official Normal on the team who is always worried about being in Naruto and Sasuke's shadows and can't catch up and like…every time she's like “watch me guys I got this, I've caught up” *proceeds to fail and need help*
I was always like “IF YOU HAVE TO SAY IT THEN YOU HAVENT OKAY?? STOP WORRYING AND FIND YOUR OWN THING AND BE YOUR OWN PERSON”
Team 7 like Failed dude…I love the cute genin days but it was a failure and of all of them Sakura clings the fuck out of those days and like Never moves on (I don't think Naruto—still hated by the village and scared of rejection and ignorant about everything and living alone in a shitty apartment—or Sasuke—stewing in the hatred and lies from his brother and working for a kage who ORDERED THE MASSACRE OF HIS FAMILY….i mean even Kakashi, guilty about everything and unfulfilled and depressed...yeah they may have some fond memories but they probably aren't scrambling to go back, you know?) I legit believe her Sasuke obsession is in no small part fueled by a desire to go back to idyllic childhood days where the world wasn't complicated and the future looked bright…Sakura FLAT OUT says this in her last “”””confession””””” to Sasuke before the VOTE2 fight.
She's like those people who peaked in high school and never stop telling you how they were prom queen once and god Kaytlyyn I get it prom was a thing that mattered to you. It's why she acts so childish around Sasuke and why they'll never be a real couple She just Devolves back to being a 13 year old again and tbh I ship SNS hardcore but I DO THINK Sasuke could have loved her if she'd actually let herself grow up and act like a grown woman around him…a poke is not better than a kiss holy fuck. I CRINGE my asshole inside out whenever I see that panel where Sasuke denies her the kiss but TBH??? I would too?? If this THIRTY YEAR OLD WOMAN comes up and “tee hee”s and stares up her lashes and points her toes in like a little girl?? And then doesn't like…communicate?
THE issue that started Gaiden? SO GLAD THE SS FAMILY GOT THAT FIGURED OUT
Nor does she go for a kiss goodbye on the cheek? Or a hug? Or SAY anything? Or give him a return date to come back or we need to rethink this if only for our emotionally needy daughter? Like a Sane Person in an adult relationship?? Some wife?? She should be able to do these basic ass things without acting like a preteen?? Seriously y'all go find a thirty something year old woman and picture them acting like Sakura did in that scene…so infantilizing. I wouldn't kiss her either, damn. And we see like no sign she acts any other way with him. SASUKE DOESNT KNOW HER. And because Sakura can't act like an adult with him, she's never gotten to really know him either??? So infuriating but this isn't supposed to be anti-SS, and I mean it cause I DO THINK Sakura was supposed to do something in this story and didn't cause we needed new genin for child soldiering. I THINK SAKURA COULD HAVE ENDED THE CHILD SOLDIER PRACTICE. We see in her shinden novel that she and Ino are establishing clinics for kids and orphans and like…assessing their mental health, and then we hear like nothing of that but that might have been her revolutionary idea outside of Naruto and Sasuke's shadow cause she does it cause she sees how fucked in the head her teammates are and she had a healthy childhood and look what that did for her. DUDE she deals with SAI her best friend can walk into people's MINDS whyyyyyy???? did Sakura not get to revolutionize medicine again with mental health care?? Helping shinobi cope with trauma, proving that neglect, abandonment, trauma and war is ruining kids and contributing to the cycles of violence?? Tsunade learned to fix bodies and Sakura mastered that so why not let her discover how to help people fix their minds…and change the system that way. Look I get that this is speculation and headcanon, but it feels like that's the groundwork tentatively laid? Sakura growing up and leaving her idyllic childhood behind and changing the system with her more balanced and objective view on things since SHE had a normal childhood (in context, okay) Anyway I could spiral into like 10 different rants from this and I probably will at some point but whatever Hey tumblr I'm hexalene I'm late to the fandom and I have a lot of useless opinions

thinking about how i would even vaguely salvage it. war arc is crazy in part i think because literally everyone shows up to fight this threat that just keeps evolving and doesnt entirely make sense and it just gets waaaayyy too much.
lbr the heart of the series is naruto and sasukes relationship so like... what if instead of everybody starting a war (which tbh annoyed me because so much of the cast has had their lives ruined by war so seeing the story go in that direction rather than criticizing and coming to terms with the horrors of war was like Ok haha) naruto and sasuke kinda have their ~climactic fight~ or w/e but it's interrupted because they have to work together to stop kaguya because theyre the transmigrant souls after all blah blah. idk i can think through that more later but then after doing that and releasing the genjutsu they have their vote2 fight because they still have issues between the two of them to work out and then they blow each others arms off and go travel the world together.
like everybody suddenly flipping and being obsessed with naruto after he fights pain... ok fake bitches lol like narutos character should have been further analyzed and not just turned into a flat shonen protag copout. hes uncomfortable with the praise! the sunshiny personality or w/e literally isnt him at the waterfall of truth he SAYS "i am going to be the person everyone else wants me to be." like that is some major repression happening u cant just have him SAY that and never address those feelings again!!! i think he would need to distance himself from konoha as much as sasuke does idk. keep in those moments like when he has the panic attack or when hes just moping bc thats actually him lol its way more interesting and compelling to have a protag who feels like a real person with real feelings.
and in this version sasuke does NOT get antagonized the way he does in canon!! his criticisms of the state are true and god imagine if the story had actually taken an anti-war direction and sasukes views were put on equal footing with everyone elses. he and naruto are supposed to be equals right? let the boy speak!!! also have somebody actually unpack dissect and refute the cursed clan shit and have the narrative recognize it as what it is (eugenics) and openly condemn it. what the hell even is the will of fire bro
also i would LIKE TO HAVE the uzumaki stuff explored more! literally adding anything about them would be more bc theres basically nothing lol! the whole uzushio destruction paralleling the uchiha massacre, naruto getting connected to kushina and his family and please let him and karin Speak??
ok so thinking about how those things would coalesce into a final arc(s) that succeeds the pain arc that doesnt blow. naruto learning more about his mom and her family and that helping him fully resonate with kurama. sasuke killing itachi and then being like ok we going✈️to destroy konoha and then getting there and seeing the aftermath of the pain attack and being like. Ok what happened? naruto feeling even more isolated than before pain because everyones kindness seems fake. tsunade and kakashi and whoever else finding out the truth/more information behind tobi/obito/kaguya and narutos like ok guys get mad if you want but i am the only one who can deal with this because of my unique identity. obito tells sasuke the truth about all that stuff or whatever and sasuke has the same process like, i am the only one who can deal with this because of who i am. and thats how he and naruto confront each other, at the precipice of this huge apocalyptic disaster, and they start to fight but then work together to save the world blah blah blah whatever astral project to hang out with hagoromo and he ninja married them WHATEVER. hagoromo saying his piece about how ninjutsu has become perverted by it being used for war. naruto and sasuke stop the kaguya thing. if we have to have obito then like idk him and kakashi getting some closure that doesnt feel like The lint picked out of ones belly button. naruto and sasuke have their vote2 fight because naruto, even in his isolation and bitterness, still deludes himself into thinking he has to be a symbol of hope for these people and he has to change himself for everyone and doesnt realize that he like. needs to take some time off and deal with his own emotional issues lol and sasuke wants to bear the worlds burdens of hatred, be alone etc, but he doesnt realize that he doesnt deserve that he deserves to heal because he also needs to sort through his issues and they have their fight and blow their arms off and they have that conversation they have as they bleed out. they realize theyre the only people who truly understand each other and no matter what happens they cant let go of their bond. and then they get taken back to konoha and healed but sasukes like yeah im leaving i cant be here and narutos like ok i just realized something and its that i have to go with you. they first have a long discussion or w/e with the People In Charge where we like ACTUALLY HAVE THE NARRATIVE CONDEMN WAR LOL like naruto reflects back on his experience speaking to nagato and recounts the story of his clan, sasuke talks about the people he freed from orochimaru and the destruction of his clan, and they remind everyone of like. ninjutsus origin as an art rather than a tool of destruction and also they bring up The reason why konoha was founded. You know. To be a place where children didnt have to be soldiers and they point that out and are like hahaha but look where we are now anyway thats fucked up guys seriously war is not the answer. Literally i dont know konoha demilitarizes and stops training child soldiers or at LEAST switches to ninja democracy literally fucking anything than what actually happens in canon. and naruto and sasuke leave and travel the world in order to better understand it and its people and each other and theyre in love.
This is a mess and is not thorough but like idk
yes i like naruto. Yes i hate naruto. We exist

ddo you think saske loves nrto romantically? the final monologue & vote2 kinda allude to him secretly pining for nrto (but rejecting those feelings of course) but did he actually hold that much importance to saske’s life? i have always thought narsas as a one sided relationship where nar is crazy in love with sas while sas doesnt have it in him to get into romance (he said this to kakashi about s@kura i think) maybe if his life isn’t as fucked up do u see the two of them hooking up? and what kindof relationship would that be?
Tumblr media
Unpopular opinion cause I don't ship NS the healthy cute positive way. So read at your own risk and if you disagree pls don't start a discussion with me, this is my blog and I don't have the time/interest to discuss.
Not necessarily. I think the moments you mentioned show that for Sasuke Nar is veeeery important but it's not meant to be a necessarily romantic feeling. It might be seen this way and it makes sense but imo his feelings for nar are not romantic or sexual. He admires him very much and he definitely holds him in the highest importance, and since he values strength, the more he sees nar's strength the more his positive feelings for him grow (and the more he wants to reject them).
Anyway (and I don't say it to support canon ships cause eww they’re so gross) I don't see him pining for nar at all. As a kid he kinda wanted to be his friend, he felt a connection, and it's a strong thing especially for him, but it's not romantic.
Idk about that thing you said about kakashi/s*kura.
I don't see Nar as a selfless positive character and I see their relationship one sided in certain moments, otherwise not totally one sided but very VERY unbalanced, because nar is totally obsessed with sas, to the point of being possessive, stalkerish, jealous of everyone who gets too close to him, totally commanding, like, thinking he knows what's best for Sas because they're friends, thinking he can understand him because they're both alone even though their loneliness is common trait and a reason to bond, but still their personalities, needs and ideas are totally different and nar doesn't take this or anything Sasuke wants, thinks and so on into consideration.
So in canon universe I can't see anything between them until #698 when Sas admits defeat and willingly submits to NAr, and even more after, where Sas gets brainwashed and tamed into submission. Then his admiration for Nar becomes visible and open, he becomes totally submissive to him and Nar's approach would be totally accepted. In a previous timeline, where he formed his Team Taka, I see him too independent for it. In an alternate universe who knows, it might be, or not, as imo Nar is not the best person for Sas.
Anyway I can imagine them together, with Nar taking initiative and Sas letting him, because he's passive with people and always lets them do whatever, even more so with Nar whom he considers stronger than him, and with whom he has a strong bond.
I can’t see them as equals, having an equal-like relationship cause Nar is totally dominant and so he wants to be, and Sas is very passive, even when he’s defiant.
But I'm not interested in healthy, positive, cute NS interactions so I don't imagine them, as for me, like I said, Nar is unhealthily possessive and domineering over Sas, and, tbh, I find it more interesting this way. tbh I like it very much this way.
My NS tag.
