So uh the Hero of Ideals AU is like a Iris vs N thingy? You asked for curiousty and now you've go it.

YAY THANK YOU

Admittedly it's less of a "iris hero of ideals au" and more of a general gen5 au that just so happens to feature hero of ideals iris.

Hilda and Hilbert are twins here with pretty differing world-views, Hilbert being the idealist and Hilda being the realist. That never stopped them from getting along until their pokemon journey started and they began encountering Team Plasma and N, the man who wants to put an end to the irrefutable truth that humans hurt pokemon. Hilda thinks he's full of shit (humans help pokemon too idiot) while Hilbert starts thinking maybe Team Plasma is right. They're both too busy tearing each others' throats out to do any hero of ideal-ing, even though N really wants it to be one of them. When they both confront N at the pokemon league, the twins come to the conclusion that they don't want to fight N, they want to be his friend. N doesn't get his big climatic battle between two heroes.

Meanwhile in the lower levels of the castle, the gym leaders are fighting back against Team Plasma, and Iris (entrusted to a dragon-type trainer to ensure Team Plasma wouldn'tsteal it) decides "you know what this is bullshit I don't care what any of you bozos think I'm going to make an awesome future where pokemon and people get along forever" and Zekrom vibes with that energy so he claims Iris as his hero and he and Iris beat back Team Plasma together. N rides off on Reshiram to think and the two don't actually meet until post B2W2, but they're fast friends. The attack of Opelucid City during B2W2 was also an attempt from Neo Team Plasma to get their hands on Zekrom, but they only get away with the DNA splicers.

And yeah, during Iris's champion battle you do have to fight Zekrom. Iris is facing you with nothing less than her full power. She squashed Nate and Rosa was too busy to challenge the league. Rosa befriended Kyruem and spent a while guarding her den from any other attempts to capture her. Even when things died down and they were sure Team Neo Plasma was gone, Rosa just never got around to doing it.

A few questions about the Aspects AU.

Is it possible for a Pokémon to give aspects to a different trainer after their first? Say, if their trainer dies and they eventually get over their death and bond with a new trainer. Some good examples would be Reshiram and Zekrom originally being with the Heroes of Truth and Ideals and later bonding with Hilbert/Hilda/N or Mythicals like Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi eventually getting new trainers after a long stretch of time.

Will you ever consider doing offshoots of this AU by focusing on characters/stories outside of Hisui, Unova, and Paldea? Or will you leave that to the readers to do?

If you yourself had an Aspect, what would it be? What Pokémon traits would you get?

Ohh good questions! So 1) Yes they can, it's eaiser for pokemon who live a very very long time like legendaries and mythicals, however in cases like Reshiram and Zekrom they personally don't bond with humans though their fractions could (it just hasn't been documented in history to have happened) 2) Eeeehhh maybe? If the story feels compelling in a way. I've kind of had this au since I was a kid watching pokemon for the first time but this is the first storyline that struck me as most complelling with the aspects. So who knows... But by all means if anyone wants to take this aspects au and run with it for other characters/stories then by all means go for it! 3) hhhhmmmmmm I would like to say chandelure because that is my favorite pokemon but it would actually be the charmander line. Charmander was the first pokemon I picked in the game and has a special place in my heart.

yes GOD this poor guy.

first off: nate is hilbert's little brother- 6 years his junior. he'd always looked up to hilbert as a role model, idolizing him especially after his ascension to hero of ideals. keep in mind that nate was only 10 when bw happened, so his understanding of the situation was surface-level and admittedly naïve. even when hilbert had been hospitalized for his injuries, he'd put on a brave face for nate, so the latter didn't grasp the severity of what happened/was happening.... it wouldn't be until later that the reality of how scary this was would sink in.

freshly 11 yrs old when hilbert left unova, nate was then sent off to aspertia to live with the other half of the family (hilda, rosa, and their mom) so he could enroll in cheren's trainer's school with rosa and earn his permit. the idea was also a way to provide him with a distraction from hilbert's absence since nate was a lonely kid... but anyway, this permit allowed them to participate in the junior division of the pokemon league challenge, meaning if either of them won, they'd be a champion in name only. that didnt happen but i'll get to why in a second.

when he was 12, despite setting out with the intention of collecting gym badges, hugh and nate quickly veered off course when team neo-plasma began showing its face around the region, urging the two of them to give chase in a bid to get some answers out of them. in the process, nate came across and befriended keldeo, and then, upon meeting colress, was dubbed something akin to his protégé.

this of course all came to a head in giant chasm. there... something happened that left nate almost a completely different person. not only had he been told, to his face, that his big brother was gone for good, but his right arm was caught in the line of kyurem's glaciate.

like his brother before him, nate was then hospitalized for a considerable amount of time, and like theyd done for his brother before him, interpol came swooping in make use of nate at his lowest. because, technically, hilbert had been working with them when he disappeared, so they had to take some accountability in his case... and what better way that to employ his little brother, i guess.

before his journey, nate was a sweet, excitable kid, although he struggled with tone. afterwards... it's like he struggles to recognize any emotion at all. he's blunt, does not have time for distractions, he gets unreal tunnel vision and dedicates years working on tying up loose ends regarding hilbert- such as the whereabouts of the dark stone and anything he might have left behind that nate can bring back home... rosa thinks its a pointless obsession and would rather forget about it all, and this resulted in a fight that drove a wedge between the two of them. :(

this was supposed to be a brief summary and its already gotten this long LOL... i had to skip over some details that i'll revisit in other posts later. like n's zorua. theres a lot going on with a lot of the hilbertverse cast and nate is no exception.

some more trivia, though:

reshiram would have accepted him as a hero of truth if he'd agreed to it... but hes very different from n. his pursuit of truth is one devoid of idealism- he has no hope, no optimism, he only wants to get the facts to provide some sense of closure.

his full name is nathaniel tobias black. do not ever call him this

his birthday is may 4

he has two shinies, those being his emboar and his galvantula. lucky bastard

we really dont know what gender his emboar is? most just assume its a male, but it responds to whatever. really it does what it wants. its name is samson and its parents are bianca and hilda's emboars.

his prosthetic arm was designed and built by colress. the guy likes to think of himself as nate's mentor, even though he's one of the main factors behind why nate's even going through what he is in the first place...

"Dearest Cheren Slater,"

Philia

Nate used to have very few people to turn to when he needed it; of course, Hugh and Rosa shared a spot at the top of his list, and especially his mother- but outside of them, Hugh's family, and maybe big sis Roxie all the way at Virbank, his options were limited.

And, truthfully, none of them fit the bill for his current dilemma- his mother would tell him he could achieve anything he wanted as long as he put his mind into it, his friends would tell him to believe in himself..

So he goes to the person who he knows sees the truth, the one that carries the will of the hero that rode the white dragon of fire; his city's gym leader, and his homeroom teacher.

"Do you think I could be a hero like Hilbert Blackburn?"

It was a touchy subject- the people of Nuvema treaded the topic of The Hero of Truth as if he was a ghost, someone that never existed. His truth was hidden in plain sight, spoken in-between hushed whispers.

As kind and patient Cheren Slater was, adapting his language and presence to be one fit around students,

He was still the Cheren Slater from two years ago, the same Cheren Slater who spoke his mind and thought Team Plasma was a waste of oxygen.

"Why be like Hilbert at all?" He asks. "It's your life and your story- there's no right answer to what kind of hero you should be."

The answer came to him so easily, as if he was asked about this a hundred times before- but to Nate, this was a revelation, the bridge he needed to reach out for his ideals.

Whether his reply came from a teacher's wisdom, a big brother's love, or the concern of a friend, Nate didn't know- and he didn't mind keeping it in the dark. All that mattered was the truth.

"Sincerely, your favorite student Nate."

Storge

His position as an Elite Four member granted him many luxuries, ones he had dreamed of when he was just a mere ace trainer waiting to be scouted into the professional scene. Though many starting out found it difficult to enjoy the fruits of their labor, Grimsley was Grimsley, and well..

"I always found a way to sneak out back then," He raises a champagne glass. "Of course, I couldn't live like that forever. I started working very seriously, and-"

"You're back to sneaking out now?" Grimsley's glass clinks against Cheren's- though his drink was nothing but pink lemonade. "I've heard tales from Mr. Alder that you were quite irresponsible."

"I wised up once I had to- I couldn't trust dad to look after you, not when he was like that."

They were all true, however- though that irresponsibility came from a place of rebellion and lack of direction; he aspired to become a professional trainer to provide for his family first and foremost after all, a goal that had earned him the ire of many of his rivals back then.

"In the end, I became just like dad," Grimsley swirls his glass. "I got caught up in wanting what's best for you, I didn't stop to think what you wanted- and I ended up not being there for you at all."

He stops himself.

This wasn't a pity party for him or a chance to let out his frustrations over his father once more, it was a birthday dinner for his dear brother; his brother who was once a small, wide-eyed crybaby that pranced around the daycare in his oversized uniform and fluffy boots.

Now, he sits across the table from his brother Grimsley, looking like one of the photos he had of his late mother- before the fall of the Battle Institute, before Noland found a job at Hoenn, before anything.

"You know," He speaks again, meeting his brother's eyes; he looked just like Lillith, despite everything. "Dad used to take mom to this restaurant too."

"Best wishes, your kuya Giima."

Pragma

When a fire had ravaged through the earth, he had believed that hell had come to the land of the living, rendering the soil infertile and stripping him of salvation, doomed to wander for eternity as a sinner.

It wasn't until an angel sent by the heavens above descended from the skies, his soothing voice washing through the fields, healing their wounds- and their growth was aided by the warmth of his smile.

It took patience for his garden to grow to how it was now, evolving from the barren land it was before.

But as if the past was a distant memory or even a bad dream, the scars of the earth were buried underneath fields of red and white, stretching as far as the eye could see.

Descante adored the resilience of flowers, no matter how small.

A delicate little flower doesn't last in a battlefield, nor does it brave through the storm- but a little flower tries, and it endures and persists, like the berries they provide. Even in their death, pressed in-between pages, their beauty was eternal, a blessing taken for granted.

Trainers come and go, passing by his home and complimenting the blossoming fields and orchards- but while they sing praises for the sweetness of the fruit, Descante's worship is reserved for the most beautiful flower of them all.

He presses the tamato flowers between the pages of his journal, tucking away his fountain pens in his drawer.

From outside his window, his little flower scurries around with a Wailmer Pail in his hands, bidding the plants a restful winter with a soothing lullaby.

Descante smiles- and heads downstairs to fix Slater a cup of tea to warm his bones. It wouldn't do if his little flower shriveled in the cold.

"Yours truly, your champion Descante."

Mania

The jealous boy of the gallery loves white roses for their simplicity and purity- they stood out in the darkness of the labyrinth, even more so when they were slowly dyed red. Nothing in this dark and dreary world was as real as the white rose, the embodiment of his spirit.

His own was a deep dark blue, the color of the night sky and the depths of the abyss- unnatural and cold, its petals only change when dyed into black.

A blue rose could sparkle and shine on the outside world, charming the eyes of all he meets- but in the shadows of the gallery, as another one of its inhabitants, it was a grim reminder of his fabricated existence.

He could never seek to possess a pure spirit, one worthy of the white rose- but perhaps, he could claim it for himself, as one of his toys.

He's adamant in his nature, like many of his father's creations- and though he was eternally a youth, inexperienced and impulsive, he outwits the teacher that possessed an orange rose, the one obstacle that stands between him and what he desires.

The thorns of the rose could not dissuade him from holding onto it as if it were his lifeline.

The paintings of the gallery loved playing loves me, loves me not; Piper was no exception. In fact, he knew a winning strategy.

His fingers wrap around each of the delicate petals in his grasp- and he haphazardly pulls on them one by one, cackling as he does so.

As each petal falls to the floor, clinging onto the cold wax of his shoe, Slater's soft breathing steadies into a ringing silence, until Piper could hear nothing but his own sobs.

Atop the Final Stage, its name is changed to accommodate the final touches of the sculpture- and its artist's signature is from none other than Piper himself, penned with his own blood.

"Always and forever, your other half Piper."

Ludus

“There’s better ways to get around a traffic jam. Soaring through the sky isn’t one of ‘em. Nor is it normally approved by the league, especially by the mayor,” Hilbert is rarely cheeky- and today is one of the special occasions he can afford to behave like this. “But they let me take him out for a ride today. I told them I would be transporting valuable cargo.”

Cheren’s grip was like a Durant’s, crushing his torso- he buried his face on the hero’s back, gritting his teeth in a mix of fear and irritation. Though he may have soared the skies on his Unfezant before, he had long since accepted that he was not one for air travel.

“Hilbert, I swear to the legendary dragons- especially Reshiram,” It’s a hiss that comes out of his mouth- but if Hilbert dug deep enough, he could trace his tone to what he convinced himself was playfulness. Or a threat. “If I fall off its back, I’m taking you with me. And if we live, I’m going to kill you.”

“I told you, didn’t I? I’ve had enough time,” Two years, in fact- “To practice riding Reshiram around. It’s scary at first, yeah, but once you get used to him and the feeling of the wind on your hair, your hearts become one- and you’re never going to fear flying ever again!”

“Well, yes, for you- you’re the Hero of Truth,” If Hilbert could see the way he rolled his eyes at him now. “I think it’s the bare minimum for you to learn how to ride him- but can’t you slow down? We’re in no rush, aren’t we?”

“I mean, yeah, we aren’t-” But the people waiting for the both of them at the league would not take it kindly if Hilbert were to be running late with the birthday boy- the one they planned a whole surprise party for. “But, you know, I don’t want to waste a minute of your special day.”

“And why would any minute be wasted?” Blunt as ever, Cheren continues to speak his mind. “Nothing’s a waste, you know. Not when I’m with you.”

It’s far too late when he catches himself saying those words- and before he could stammer out an apology, fearing that such an admission would get to Hilbert’s head and distract him from his flight, Hilbert only laughs- the same kind of laugh he would let out when he was a child, covered in dirt and twigs.

“Aw, don’t be embarrassed, Cheri-” He decides to spare him the teasing for now- and he hopes the white dragon won’t mind taking the blame. “-maybe Reshiram’s aura is just getting to you! Making you more honest than usual!”

His laughter is cut off when Cheren squeezes him harder- and he feels the icy gaze of his best friend piercing through his back. For all of Cheren’s worries about the dangers of the sky, Hilbert found him to be the biggest danger of all.

"With love, your hero Hilbert."

Philautia

The Heart does not regret dying for the sake of the princes, for the birth of the twin dragons- but if he had to repent for any sin in his life, it would have been his greed.

"I wished to be remembered for eternity- and wished to stay by their sides," He laughs bitterly. "Death was the only way to achieve both."

The divine dragons of Truth and Ideals have granted the wish of a foolish heart; his life and his death are to be worshipped for all of eternity, a beauty that will never be tarnished.

Bound to the depths of the sea of time, The Heart listens to the crashing of waves from above the surface- and is horrified to hear the consequences of dream.

A face modeled after his own, eyes softer than his- The Heart reborn makes a wish more innocent than his own.

The fools that play the roles of the divine bring it upon themselves to grant his wish- and split his heart into two, leaving nothing for the vessel.

When the slaughtered lamb lays on the floor, his death mourned by those he loved- The Heart is one of the false castle's many inconsolable souls.

He loved him. How could he not? This had been him- this was him, a life that mirrored his own. And it had been The Heart's own wish that led to such bloodshed.

The Heart would have done anything to bring him back to life- so he offered himself.

The young Cheren Slater dies a cruel death just a week before his fifteenth birthday- and his life continues, as if he hasn't died at all.

"Take care, your unwavering heart."

Anyways have another villain au concept

So yknow in those animes or shows and such there's like these dream like sequence or smth or they were like transported into the mind of someone and they watch all their memories and such and they find out how that person became the way they are

Imagine that w Iris (and the rest of the Unova kids) and Diantha tho

Like, maybe that clash w Kyurem and Yveltal just fucked everything up maybe, or yeah since those mons have a strong connection to their trainers that smth smth pkmn magic got them in this dream like thing maybe and just chmdndn ough just hear me out okay, it's like a dream like sequence thing just hear me out

And like, the Unova kids suddenly waking up to this,, garden thing, they don't know where they are, then Iris woke up, looking around, and the place wasn't familiar to them. But they were outside a manor yknow, and it was getting dark, they tried to head in the house, seeing if anyone's there. They were quiet tho, after hearing a voice from the inside, they tried sneaking around, then they heard someone yelling. Heading to what they know is the living room, they saw someone standing in front of the fireplace, and they saw a child on the ground, crying, begging for mercy, as the woman the child called her mother hit her w a branding iron, the child's screams echo through the night, they almost couldn't handle it

Then they watch and hear the woman sneer at the child, "if you won't stop crying, I'll feed you to the Houndoom." Then she added, "crying shows weakness, Diantha. If you want to be a trainer, then dry those tears, prove to me you aren't weak."

God imagine a shiver running down Iris' spine. That child.. that child was Diantha. Her mother did that to her. She was hurting a child, her own fucking daughter no less, she burnt Diantha's skin. And just when Iris was about to step in, to protect young Diantha, the scenery shifted, and suddenly they're back at the garden.

Though.. looking around, this one was different than the first one, then Iris saw the statue in the middle of the garden, and she told them that they're probably at Kalos' League, Diantha always loved bringing them there.

Then they heard crying again, quieter than the last, then they looked around more, and at the far end of the garden they saw a child, well.. they're not sure, she looks taller than one, maybe a teenager. They went to her, they see her clutching a blue cape, a hat on her side, its brim was ripped on one side and the crown of it looks like it was burnt.

Iris couldn't resist, she quietly says, "hey.. are you okay..?" The child turns to her, those sky blue eyes brimmed with tears, she clutched the cape closer to her chest.

"sir Ignis.. he ruined my cape.. he said a Champion shouldn't act like a child, but.. but Drasna got me these, and I don't want her to get mad that it's ruined!" She cried, showing them burnt patches on the cape and how it has diagonal slashes. Whoever that Ignis was, Iris was gonna kick his ass.

She knelt down next to child, taking the cape from her, she doesn't know how to fix the burns but,, she turns to her friends, and Bianca just smiles at her, nodding, she knows how to fix those rips. And hey, the child watches them in awe, her tears drying now, and she tells them her name, Diantha. And ofc, they should've known, Diantha became Champion when she was young too.

And she's there asking them questions. Like where they're from, who are they, their names, and "are you guys heroes?"

"huh..?"

She nodded, then pointed at Iris, "yeah! You have a cape like LucarioMan! So you must be a hero! Plus, you and your friends helped me fix my cape, thank you!" She smiled wide, almost excited at the thought of meeting actual heroes, she's buzzing w excitement.

Iris was abt to deny, then Hilbert puts his arm around Iris' shoulder, "yeah, we are Heroes! Iris here is the Hero of Fate, I'm the Hero of Truth, and my twin is the Hero of Ideals," then he points at N, "he's the hero who can talk to Pokémon," then to Cheren, "he's the hero who's really good with battles," and then to Bianca, "then Bianca there is the hero with three legendary dragons! We're so cool, aren't we?" He boasted, smirking. Hilda almost hit him at the back of his head.

Diantha nodded, her eyes were shining, almost like the stars were in them, "so cool! I wanna be a hero like you guys too!"

And that kinda hurt Iris, that's all what Diantha had wanted, to be a hero, and she would've fit the part, she really could've been a hero who was loved by everyone. What happened to her?

After fixing the cape, Diantha thanked them again, Iris had told her that she should tell Drasna what really happened to her hat and cape, "she won't get mad at you, I promise." She said, and Diantha promised she would. And the timing was perfect yknow, as they all heard Drasna calling Dia, but before they could say a proper goodbye, the scene shifted again.

And then they saw all the times different psychics had went to Drasna, telling them abt Diantha's future, and how Diantha heard all of it. Imagine that messing the Unova kids up too, cause holy shit, Diantha really heard all those things being said abt her, and it's not even just a random unwanted hate comment, no, it's abt the future and how she's gonna ruin it. Imagine how much that'd fuck them up tho, how much it fucked Diantha over, hearing one of the psychics call her a "demon child"

And then they saw how no one really helped her, no one stopped her, that power really got to her head that she ended up believing if she recreates the world, she'll live in a much better place, where her mother and her father loves her, where she wouldn't be separated from her brother, where everyone didn't look down on her, where she could just live a normal and happy life, something she always dreamt she'd have. But that became a smudge on her list now yknow, now she wants other people to look highly at her, to see her as a hero, as a god, and for them to feel the same pain she went through. Diantha really went from a child who only wanted to help people, to being called a demon spawn and being the catalyst for the ruin of their world.

Then they're back to the real world and such, back to where they left off, within the Champion chambers of the Unova League, Diantha was still standing before them, her eyes flaring with such a rage, but tears were streaming down her face. And for just a split second, smth flashed before their eyes, they see a younger Diantha smiling up at them, then an older Diantha losing that luster in her eyes, and finally back to the Diantha standing before them, eyes glowing that cursed cyan hue that they all grew to hate and fear.

Iris almost didn't want to fight anymore, but even after all the things they saw, even after all the things Diantha went through, they know that she really couldn't be saved. The child with stars in her eyes was long gone, and in her place was the Champion who has nothing left in her heart but hate.

Blight / Blur : N's Zorua

I'm going to make posts like these more often since they can also serve as outlines for drabbles, but! This one is about Nate's Zoroark, Rogue, and how he gets him + as well as his interactions with the rest of the group!

N's Zorua is received the same way; given to Nate by Rood after he and Hugh visit the Driftveil Safehouse and find out there's two kinds of Team Plasma now.

Rosa had stayed behind in Nimbasa City for awhile (and met Curtis), while Yancy joined their group not too long after they left.

However, every instance where the group encounters Zinzolin, Cheren is always absent from the party; in this case, he felt weak as soon as they stepped into Driftveil, so he's resting in an inn while Yancy offered to stay guard.

Cheren felt weak because Colress' Beheeyem was in the area. Yancy knows this.

Anyway, Zorua is given to Nate by Rood, who acknowledges that Nate seems to have stronger ideals than N- and thinks he has what it takes to fully awaken Zekrom. Zorua, however, thinks otherwise, and dislikes Nate- mainly because he's comparing Nate with Hilbert.

During their time in the safehouse, Rood also tells Nate about what had happened in N's Castle- particularly the party of Truth, their roles, and what happened to one of them. They know he's talking about The Heart, Cheren.

After the two regroup with Cheren and Yancy, Cheren doesn't seem to like the Zorua; he looks away from it when Nate shows it to him, and Hugh quickly realizes this is because of Cheren's bad experiences with Team Plasma.

Zorua really wants to earn Cheren's trust though. Zorua knows that Cheren is Hilbert's most important person after all, but Zorua goes about this in a terrible manner- it disguises itself as Hilbert, which.. understandably lead to Cheren freaking out. It refuses to transform into humans again after this.

He doesn't get a nickname, nor does he evolve, until after Nate earns the Opelucid City badge and Team Plasma attacks. After earning the last badge in Humilau and rescuing Cheren and Yancy from the Frigate with Bianca's help, Zorua evolves into Zoroark in the midst of the battle with Colress in Giant Chasm- that's also when Nate gives him his nickname, Rogue.

After the battle at Giant Chasm and a few days off, Nate decides to head to Victory Road, to fulfill his promise with Cheren that he's going to become a champion that would bring smiles to Unova. When he meets with N there, he offers Rogue back; but Rogue himself refuses, having found Nate to be a worthy trainer and hero.

What did your time in Team Plasma mean to you, "lord" N? What finally made you leave? What parts did you believe in? Any of it? What parts became too much?

For most of my life, Team Plasma... was my entire world. I barely knew of anything but Team Plasma. Ghetsis' whole plan hinged on that.

I believed every word of it. I didn't think people and Pokémon could coexist... because I had never been allowed to talk to any Pokémon who liked humans.

That started to change after I went on my journey, with the intention to take over the Pokémon League... and change the world forever.

As I progressed, I met more and more people who communicated with and cared for their Pokémon... and more and more Pokémon who were happy to be with their Trainers.

But I refused to accept it. I continued to live in denial that was tearing me up inside... until my final battle with Hilbert in Team Plasma's castle. His ideals defeated my truth... and I needed that more than anything. It proved to me what I had secretly known for quite some time...

...Then of course came Ghetsis' outburst, where he told the truth about his intentions. He had raised me specifically to be a perfect puppet. Team Plasma only existed for him to gain power.

He was defeated and taken away... and I assumed there would be no more Team Plasma. From there, I had to decide for myself what to do next. In a spur of the moment decision, I said some parting words to Hilbert, and then flew somewhere far away on Reshiram's back.

...I do feel a little bad sometimes... for running away like that instead of helping with the aftermath. I know there were... some people I left behind who missed me very much.

But at the same time, I... I can't really explain it, but I know it's what I had to do. I had to get away... I had to spend time away from Team Plasma, so I could find out who I am without them.

more quick ideas for legends/mythicals based on protags. as well as human characters based on the main legends/mythicals....

roaming red legendary? with some kind of ice type form that is only found on mt silver(in johto games), doesnt have a cry. green mythical pokemon that considers itself the red ones rival, may or may have a rivalry related ability idk...leaf fakemon that was introduced in gen 3 but was a beta pokemon in gen 1......ngl i kind of like the idea of giovanni being a ground type legendary and mew being a mother and an unethical scientist of sorts tho....maybe the legendary birds would take the place of the protags?????

johto legends, ho oh=ethan and kris=lugia. they have more or less the same roles as the legends?????(maybe) BUT at the very least they look different. also lyra is a mythical that has kind of sudowoodo(ik sudo isnt a legend/mythical but you get what i mean) type vibe were they like tricking people...silver was a clone pokemon created by mew(using some giovanni fakemon dna?) before she was defeated?...but ho oh and lugia are older trainers from ecruteak. lugia moved to cianwood a long time ago tho...maybe celebis the protag idfk...

i think i gotta go the obv route with archie and maxie replacing kyogre and groudon and vice versa. but may and brendan more or less replace latias and latios and have a more important role(in theory)...wally is a psychic mythical that got injured(???) but is roaming in an effort to get stronger/find a good trainer?? lisia is just one of those cute mythicals.....

dppt trio would be a legendary trio a la lake guardians style but their scarves would be used as a way of tying their designs together??? idk this regions legends are wild thats all i got

hil dragon was originally part of a mythical quartet? with cheren and bianca mythicals(who had somthing to do with truth and ideals??) but became a legendary when it combined its two halves(hilbert and hilda) to defeat an evil force from a long time ago(n dragon???) current day it has not been seen in unova for ages but there have been sightings around the rest of the world...no one can really comment on the authenticity of these sightings tho...and ok ik i linked the post where i drew reshiram and zekrom as teenagers starting a journey but i kind of like the idea of them being older trainers in opelucid or being connected to the legends somehow instead....i think they still have "friend group drama" with kyurem tho. idk maybe the protags would be some of the other mythicals... i dunno.

Something that I brought up on Twitter and thought would be good to bring up here is a bit about the dragon that chooses N in cactusverse. So full disclosure a lot of this is just solely due to the fact that I played White and White 2 as my Unova games, so the player in White gets Zekrom and N gets Reshiram. But as I’ve actually been fleshing out the stories for each of the regions, I’ve begun to realize that the symbolism of Reshiram being the dragon of truth could still work. Like yeah N is definitely looking for an ideal world which makes him being paired with Zekrom make a ton of sense. Yet when you think about the events of gen 1-4 there is an ugly truth to the relationship between humans and Pokemon. We’ve seen multiple evil groups hurt Pokemon. We’ve seen regular trainers not necessarily treat their Pokemon with trust and love. We see this not only in the gameverse but also in the animeverse and mangaverse. And now with legends (yes I’m including a game that came out a decade after gen 5 but bear with me) we know that humans themselves have been hurt. It’s never been all sunshine and rainbows. The truth is that the relationship between Pokemon and humans can be painful for both parties. N thanks to his painful upbringing and his gift of being able to communicate with Pokemon understands this clearly from the Pokemon’s point of view. Is it applicable to every relationship between humans and Pokemon? Absolutely not. The whole truth is that while some Pokemon get hurt by humans, the majority of Pokemon have good relationships with humans and benefit But of course N’s sheltered upbringing doesn’t allow him to see the whole truth until he travels the world. But still it doesn’t change the fact that his worldview, while heavily skewed, was in fact true for some portion of Pokemon. Going back to Reshiram, yes it’s the dragon of truth. And while N’s way of thinking isn’t entirely true, the key word there is entirely. Some of what he says and believes is true. And as Colress just mentioned in the Paulo interludes, Pokemon don’t have the same complex thoughts as humans. Even if we say Reshiram is on the higher level of thought complexity among Pokemon, that gives way to why it would still recognize N as the hero. Because what he says, on some level is true, that’s all Reshiram needs.

Conversely the protagonist (Hilbert in cactusverse) isn’t 100% and ideal trainer. No one is perfect. Even the absolute most legendary trainer that is Red isn’t perfect. But Hilbert strives to be an ideal trainer and has thoughts that align with what an ideal human and Pokemon relationship should look like. For Zekrom that’s enough. Hilbert isn’t always ideal, but on some level he is.

Drabble I: Penchant

Scenario #1: “Hilda shines the brightest when she’s battling” – N

He can’t remember the first time he noticed that. Now, of course, it’s nothing new. He’s used to noticing the way her eyes gleam, her hair swishes from her eager mannerisms, the way her fists grip to the point where her nails leave an imprint on her skin, the way her arms cut through the air as she guides her pokemon to follow her lead. The first time he ever formally met her was in Accumula Town, challenging her. He justified the battle because she was an outspoken activist against Team Plasma, but he’d be lying if he said he hadn’t seen her before. Being isolated from humanity for so long, it was only natural for him to find piqued interest in the two trainers brave enough to stand against the team he pledged allegiance too. Hilbert, he was strong, his charisma unmatched , but Hilda… what attracted him to her could not be put in words. Her smile– It was so gleefully wide, even after battling him she smiled at him, as if she was able to sense how he was a victim of his environment. Reading through all of his traumas through his cloudy turquoise eyes seemed to be a special talent of hers. He had watched the two of them on their journey prior to Accumula town. He knows it was after word had spread of them throughout his team, two trainers threatening the ultimate goal of Team Plasma– of him. Yet, even angry as he was for the confinement of Pokemon in what he used to consider prisons, he found himself holding back. He didn’t want to harm her or her Pokemon truly, but scare them away.

A face as beautiful as hers would have been put to waste if it was only seen as she destroyed his truths and ideals.

He remembers one instance in particular, Hilda running in after chasing Team Plasma grunts. He stops her, leaning in, allowing his cologne to waft over her. A part of him was doing it to distract her so his grunts would be able to escape, another part hoping he’d successfully seduced her. Instead, she looks up at him, big eyes largening even further, waiting for him to say something. He holds in a sigh as he says, “You’re looking for Team Plasma, right? They went into the amusement park. Come with me.” He escorts her to the location he saw his grunts, or claimed to, and turned back to her, saying they were no longer there. He used it as an excuse to get in the Ferris Wheel with her, claiming the high ground would help them find the members who ran. She agrees, softly smiling as he rambled about how he loved the mechanics of Ferris Wheels, painting the innocent picture that was enough to convince her to get on. They get on the ride, both eagerly gazing out of the window. He had never noticed before, but her eyes, a beautiful shade of dark blue, were not cloudy like his were. She had light in her eyes, it reflected so elegantly that he was certain she had to be an angel from above, sent to help him achieve his plans. He chuckled to himself, wishing that really was the case so he could justify his infatuation with the outlander who challenged his authority. She looks over, giggling, assuming he was laughing because of the look on her face, or perhaps because of how happy he was to be on the Ferris Wheel. Oh, he told her he loved it so much, he was a nerd– she could tell. His intricate analysis of the ph–

She whips her head to him, beginning to back to the edge of the cart, hesitantly hovering her hand over her bag. His heart can’t help but twitch when he sees this unfold, but he persists. He tells her about how he was recruited by Ghetsis and his own philosophies and beliefs about the world filled of pocket monsters they live in. He gets closer, never uttering a word about her readiness to defend herself, but instead softly grips her hand as she flinches. A silent promise he would not harm her, and would never dare do so, even as she stood in his way. Her hand relaxes, her fingers lacing around his larger ones, taking a deep breath in and a deep one out. They exit off the ride once the cycle is done, only to be confronted by the grunts who were searching for their “sire.” He whispers to her, uttering about how she was under his protection for a reason that just doesn’t click within her just yet, but she knows she trusts him when he asks

┃ “Do you follow my logic?”

She nods. The battle begins and this time, she notices a slight smile on his face, despite his obvious strain in doing so to protect his true intentions from his grunts.

He remembers eagerly awaiting the next time she would put her faith in him against all odds.

Electric Trains are the Future Timeline

Since I plan for Electric Trains are the Future to cover multiple time periods with small time skips throughout, as well as small one-shots/smaller stories connected to it, I wanted to put a timeline together for it that I will update as the story goes on and more stories are added. Note: There are two time periods in this fic, but they are both tracked here.

Hisuian Era

October 28th, 1868 - Ingo appears in the Alabaster Icelands of Hisui, and becomes a rumored spirit.

November 7th, 1868 - Gaeric sees Ingo atop Avalugg’s Legacy.

November 9th, 1868 - Lady Sneasler arrives at the Pearl Settlement with a bloodied Ingo. Ingo receives medical attention, and after seeing that he is without memories or a home, he is welcomed into the Pearl Clan.

September 30th, 1869 - The Galaxy Expedition Team lands in Prelude Beach, and sets up a base camp in a natural valley. After a few weeks of discussion with Irida and Adaman, Galaxy Commander Denboku Kamado is allowed to settle his people permanently in what becomes Jubilife Village, and given leave to bring more settlers, as long as sovereign lands and treaties with the Clans are respected.

December 19th, 1869 - Shiki, the Warden of Lady Sneasler, passes away at age 87. After a week of mourning, Sneasler chooses Ingo, who Shiki had been helping get used to Clan life, as her new Warden. He is official indicted as Warden on December 29th.

January 13th, 1871 - The Space-Time Rift tears itself open above Mt. Coronet, sending both the Clans and Jubilife into a panic.

September 18th, 1871 - Hikari falls from the sky and takes the name Akari as she joins the Galaxy Expedition Team. The next night, after she is accepted into the Team, Lord Kleavor is sent into a Frenzy.

September 18th, 1871 to January 30th, 1871 - The events of Pokemon Legends Arceus take place. Akari, 15, frees the Nobles of their Frenzy, is banished for a short time, and defeats Volo at the Spear Pillar.

March 18th, 1872 - Akari accidentally summons Elesa into Hisui, and Electric Trains are the Future begins. Akari spends the night talking with Giratina to plan how to fix her mistake, and Elesa and Ingo talk about their shared history.

March 19th, 1872 - Elesa begins work at Edith’s Hair Salon and with the Galaxy Security Corp. Later that day, Warden Ingo collapses due to the strain of his memories returning.

June 24th, 1872 - Warden Ingo’s coat is restored by Elesa.

July 2nd, 1872 - Akari completes the Hisuian Pokedex, evolving her last Pokemon and turning it in to Laventon. That night, she gets a text on her Arc Phone, summoning her to the Temple, and a new page adds itself to the Pokedex.

July 5th, 1872 - While investigating potential locations for a new Galaxy-funded Village, Warden Ingo falls from a cliff face.

July 6th, 1872 - Warden Ingo is in critical but non-life threatening condition.

Modern Sinnoan/Unovan Era

August 18th, 2010 - Ingo and Emmet Grayn, 23, form the Battle Subway in Nimbasa City with the support of Champion Alder and League Official Palmer Walton. Ingo has been Head of the Unovan Transportation Authority for 4 months.

June 2012 to November 2012 - The events of Pokémon Black take place. Hilbert Blackmore, 14, bonds with Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth, and defeats N, the King of Team Plasma and trainer bonded to Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals. Though inducted into the Hall of Fame, Hilbert refuses the position of Champion and leaves Unova to search for N.

October 17th, 2013 - Alder Begay, 56, steps down as the Unova League Champion after holding the position for 16 years. Iris Grayn, 14, the co-Gym Leader of Opelucid Gym, is appointed to the position of Champion due to her previous win against the League Champion in an exhibition match. Drayden Grayn, 65, returns to being the full-time Gym Leader.

April 2014 to September 2014 - The story of Pokémon Black 2 takes place. Nate Rivers, 13, defeats a renewed Team Plasma, and completes his Gym Challenge. He faces against Champion Iris, but is unsuccessful, and begins working in earnest at Pokéstar Studios.

December 23rd, 2016 - Palmer Walton moves to Sinnoh to establish the Battle Tower, as well as to take care of his ailing mother. His family moves with him.

June 8th, 2017 - Elesa Stark, 31, and Skyla Cirrus, 29, are married in a private ceremony in Lentimas with friends and family.

December 25th, 2017 - In a Delibird Day Miracle, Hilbert Blackmore, 19, returns to Unova after interning at the Indigo League with Kukui Mahi’ai, 21. A few weeks after his return, Hilbet challenges the League once more, defeating Iris Grayn, now 18, and taking the spot as Champion. Iris takes control of Opelucid Gym, while Drayden, now 69, retires to administrative work.

February 18th, 2018 - Palmer expands the Battle Tower into a Battle Frontier.

November 28th, 2018 - During a check on Pokémon in the tunnels, Ingo Grayn, 32, disappears and remains missing. Multiple regional Leagues look into the disappearance, but no major leads are found.

January 2019 to July 2019 - The events of a Pokémon Platinum Remake occur. Hikari Mifune, alongside Lucas Kubo and Barry Walton, all age 12, take down Team Galactic in the Sinnoh region. Hikari and Barry both finish their Gym Challenge, and while Barry is unable to defeat Lucian Hale, Hikari defeats the Champion, Cynthia Kurosawa. Note: This event is used by both Interpol and the Aether Foundation to help ascertain when they are dealing with Fallers or Travelers from other realities, as almost every other reality had these events happen in 2007.

September 13th, 2019 - Hilda Whitman, 21, is instated as the new Subway Boss full-time, moving from the Afternoon Singles line to running Singles and Super Singles on all operating days. She battles alongside Emmet on the Multi Lines in addition to her Single Lines duties. Rosa Whitaker, 19, is hired as a Depot Agent for the Double Line.

April 14th to June 3rd, 2020 - Team Plasma resurges, attempting to attack the Subway and Pokemon League before they were quickly quashed by N Gropius, Hilbert Blackmore, and Rosa Whitaker.

September 21st, 2020 - Grimsley Winstar, 38, resigns from the Unovan Elite Four due to a medicial emergency. After a short search, N Gropius, 28, is hired on to replace him, taking over both the spot and the typing.

February 19th, 2021 - Elesa Stark, 35, and Emmet Grayn, 34, are married in a small ceremony in Anville Town, with only family and close friends in attendence.

September 18th, 2021 - Hikari Mifune, 15, disappears from her room. There are no signs of entry or exit, and her Pokemon were still in the house. Investigations are ongoing.

March 18th, 2022 - Elesa Stark, 36, disappears from the runway of her Gym during a photoshoot. Investigations are ongoing.

May 31st, 2022 - Emmet meets with Professor Burnet Mahi’ai, 27, of Alola to discuss what may have happened to Elesa. Volo, age unknown takes the chance to visit the Ruins of Life with Professor Kukui Mahi’ai.

June 18th, 2022 - Emmet returns to Nimbasa City briefly with Volo and Alolan Champion Elio Nozawa, 12, to check in on the Transport Authority and investigate Ingo’s disappearance.

July 5th, 2022 - Emmet collapses in the Eterna Forest, and is taken to Galactic Urgent Care in Eterna City. He is discharged within hours, but is unconscious through the ordeal.

July 6th, 2022 - Emmet meets with former Sinnoh Champion Cynthia Kurosawa, and makes a plan to find their missing families.
