i wanted to draw this for a while. the difference between douma’s human form hands, and his claws when in his demon form (specifically, when he’s using his ice). the more he attacks with his frost, the more icy his hands turn (however, they don’t burn from the cold). his fans get the same treatment.

this is just a post to both inform about & talk a bit about my reincarnation verse for douma. while i plan to read the chapter that’s set in modern times, i don’t plan on changing anything about my reincarnation verse, regardless of what is shown in canon, as i have worked very hard on this verse & it would be a shame to tear it down. however, i digress – here’s some stuff about douma in this verse.

he has emotions. extreme emotions, actually. emotions that he can struggle to control, due to his lack of experience in dealing with them in his previous life. i gave him extreme-levels of emotion to contrast against his older state of not feeling anything at all.

however, his emotional dysregulation is not a result of trauma. he had a good, healthy upbringing, and is often surrounded by family and friends who love him.

he works as a model, and has a very large following.

he often is haunted by feelings of guilt and depression, and cannot identify why. he does not remember his previous life, or his previous actions – which is the reason why he has a feeling of guilt to begin with.

he loves bugs. he has pet bugs, which he’ll likely show to anyone and everyone, provided they don’t have a phobia. he particularly is drawn to butterflies.

his natural body temperature is very cold, especially during the winter. he’ll often wear warm clothes, even when it’s incredibly hot outside – he always feels cold.

he’s actually very sweet, kind, thoughtful and caring. this is the one verse where douma is not a bastard. trust me on this.

douma’s height before becoming a demon was 5′8″. by the time he was upper moon six, he was 6′2″. by the time we reach the infinity fortress he is 6′9″.

i forget if i’ve written or mentioned this here, but douma does keep his emotionless state a secret, for the most part; he considers it to be wrong, almost like a sin that he can’t be rid of. however, people seem to uncover it anyway; despite the fact his emotional facade is so expertly crafted, people seem to figure him out, eventually. regardless, he’s almost never the first person to tell them that he can’t feel, unless he’s either backed into a corner, or really does trust your muse.

but one thing always seems to occur, when others find out about his lack of emotions; they reinforce the disturbing nature of it all, reaffirming the fact that some sins are truly unforgivable. while douma feels nothing, he does express disturbance, due to him perceiving his lack of emotions to be disturbing (reinforced by others’ reactions); thus, he considers disgust or fear or anger or anything else, to be the appropriate response / he copies what he sees in others, when it comes to the reaction of his own emotionless nature.

so he acts disturbed or even ashamed, because that’s always been the common reaction to his apathy. as such, he keeps it a secret, because like acting disturbed, he sees it as the only appropriate response to something so terrible. but something that’s important to understand is douma keeps it a secret mostly for the sake of others; to himself, it’s something that saves him from further trauma / something that rescues him from being even more ‘broken.’ the only reason he’d keep it a secret for himself is to save his own reputation amongst those who love him / it’s always more beneficial, when you’re under the assumption that someone can feel emotions.

thinking about douma when he first got turned into a demon & he probably wouldn’t have been able to find his way back to the temple for a good chunk of time. his followers would have been so worried & probably thought they’d lost him forever / that he’d been kidnapped or even killed. when he’d returned, he’d be treated like he’d come back from the dead. his return to the temple would then later become an annual celebration.

idk how evident it is in my edits of him, but the kanji in douma’s eyes are not black like a pupil would be. they are scars. they have a gradient of pink to red.

           okay, due to the encouragement i received last night – in accordance to canon material (even though it’s hardly mentioned), douma can heal the physical wounds and ease illnesses of others. examples of this was healing daki’s body prior to turning her into a demon, and healing kotoha’s injuries from her previous abuse. his healing abilities are not a secret –––– he uses them to ultimately gain more worshippers; seen as even closer to the gods than ever before.
