hey, sorry to be that person but i’m going to post this and then go offline. i didn’t make my douma trans just for the sake of it, i made him trans out of my genuine frustrations as a trans person (specifically agender frustrations), and this headcanon is very dear and close to my heart. please respect that my douma is agender for a reason, and i would appreciate it if it wasn’t treated like it’s any less than his full and whole identity, not just something to be mentioned once and then never again. douma being trans is so, so important to me, and i try to make it a big part of his character, because i want to love being trans. i didn’t make him trans randomly, i’m doing it out of love for my own gender and my struggles as a trans person – if you’re going to make your douma suspiciously similar to mine, then at least respect that my douma is agender for a very, very personal reason. i have been thrust through a stupid amount of transphobia, and i deserve to have something personal to share with my muse. i deserve to have something that inspires love for my gender, after all i have been through as a trans person. i want my douma’s gender to have more weight than just an offhanded thing to reference or copy in your own portrayals. thank you & goodnight.

constantly just thinking about the lost potential of douma almost dying and it DOES manage to unlock his emotions & inosuke and kanao have to work even harder to kill him & with passion rushing through his veins for the first time in his life, he manages to start winning the battle, but ultimately is unable to kill inosuke due to him resembling kotoha. that’s when inosuke is able to kill him - and douma lets him.

the traits of douma’s forms.
form one ; human.
thin, blunt nails. flat teeth. before his eyes were carved into, his pupils were round. this is the form that his followers and otherwise regular humans are shown. douma only sheds this form during battle, moments of great hunger, or around those who know his true identity.
form two ; demon.
nails have transformed into long, thick, sharp claws. dog-like, curved canines. fingers are shaped slightly different, to support how his claws jut out. before his eyes were carved into, his pupils were sharp. his height may be altered in order to absorb humans, but otherwise, he sits naturally at 6′9″. capable of inhuman sounds, such as purring, chattering, hissing, roaring or snarling.

douma’s journey with gender.
tw: transphobia / dysphoria.
douma is afab (assigned female at birth), in all my verses.
however, he was presented to be male, when it was decided he was to be a cult figure. his hair was cut short, he was to wear masculine clothing, and none thought anything about it.
douma had always experienced a form of dysphoria, when either his parents brought up his birth gender, or his followers regarded him as male. it felt like his skin was crawling. it disturbed him. he always considered himself to be something different.
when his parents died, douma had gathered enough of a following to present himself as something new: entirely genderless. his followers accepted this change wholeheartedly / claiming douma to be a divine being rather than a man who listens to the words whispered by gods.
when turned into a demon, after a while, douma had gained the ability to shapeshift very minorly. he changed the shape of his chest, and changes his genitals based on who he sleeps with. otherwise, he kept his appearance more or less the same.
since being given a new name, despite him remembering his old life, he prefers his new name over his old. i, as the mun, will not be referring to him as anything but “douma,” as this is the name that despite being given to him, is what he defines as the most like himself. “douma” is, and will always be, his name.
he goes by many pronouns, but mostly is referred to by he/him - don’t be confused, however. while he remains agender, he does appreciate the sound it gives. he doesn’t associate he/him pronouns with his previous identity as a man.
douma does experience dysphoria, but only when misgendered. if he’s regarded as a man or a woman, you will often find him scratching uncomfortably at his skin / as if he doesn’t fit correctly within it.
douma is most at ease when presenting androgynously, or femininely. masculinity was something he tried once, but since, has lost taste for it.
