Some clarification because I wouldn't expect my audience to be familiar with random 1970s Soviet children's cartoons. (Plot quoted from memory because it's been a few years and I don't feel like rewatching the cartoon again.)

So basically there's a protagonist who's trying to figure out what they are, and had been told they might be a bird. (I forgot how that came about.)

So now they're trying to figure out what a bird is, because they aren't quite sure either.

They've been told that birds fly. So, like, here's a pretty flying animal, and he goes "you're a bird, right?" "what of course no! I'm a butterfly! birds sing!"

Then they find someone who sings (I forgot what exactly) and they say they're not a bird either, birds lay eggs.

Then it's like... well it's a different joke in the original Russian because Russian uses a different metaphor for egg laying! But let's say they find someone who's like, sorting eggs somewhere. Anyway, they're told that nope, not a bird either, that's honestly a bit offensive, birds make nests!

Then they find a nest of wasps... I think there's a few other definitions being discussed with similar results.

Eventually they're told that defining a bird is complicated and there's actually several interacting features. At which point they go "hold on, so if I'm understanding this correct... I'm not a bird?"

"Well of course you're not a bird! You're a chicken! Here's a hen, go warm up with her!" And the newly identified chicken happily goes to play with the aforementioned hen. End of story.

...it was a weird cartoon.
