no you didn't offend me don't worry, i love hearing everybody's opinions about the character, but i do have A LOT to say about this.

what i can say is yes it's a given that since this is a hyunjin ff so people would be in favor of him,

but i can also say that all the people siding with him aren't doing this just cause it's him. hyunjin in the story isn't a bad person, as it's been mentioned quite a few times.

he's not made to be a bad person, and i understand your example but comparing him to/bringing up the example of an abuser might be a bit much 😳😳

the only thing that would make him unlikable is his dispute with yn, which was both ways, it wasn't just one of them being mean to the other. their dislike for each other did start out as petty childlike hatred which developed over the years. what happened in high school we know from yns pov, and then we do know why hyunjin chose to cut things off with her in uni.

so i would say that yes he did break yns heart twice (both times not realizing he's doing this) so comparing him to an abuser is unfair i think.

his relationships with his friends, and the others around him, and mainly part 44, is there to show him as a character apart from how he exists to yn.

since we see the story from yns perspective, and it is an enemies to lovers, it could be easy to peg him as a bad guy,

but looking at him outside the relationship, we can see how he is as a person overall and the reason i wrote part 44 from his perspective was to put forward that exact idea, of how he thinks everybody hates him (because he knows yn hates him) but in fact people like seonghwa, jisung, chan, all like and respect him as a person.

yeji in part 37 brings up to yn how the reason they hate each other is because they're both exactly the same (yn and hyunjin) they have such similar personalities so they clash and butt heads a lot, and that is the biggest reason for them having been "enemies" in the first place, not because hyunjin is a bad person.

sorry i wrote a lot, but i want it to be clear, we as readers and people who sympathize with yn are allowed to be mad at him, but his character does exist outside that too, so that should be taken into consideration as well.

since you did bring up irl, talking about real life, personally speaking: i would never forgive a boy's actions just cause he's pretty, and i would never be in favor of a toxic relationship. i know its easy to stereotype that girls can do that and that pretty privilege is a thing, but that's really not what this story is about since he is more than that here.

yn was initially attracted to him because he's pretty, but that isn't why she fell in love with him.

i hope that sort of clears it up haha, sorry for the long reply 🍀

SPOILERY ETERNALS REVIEW/THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT PLEASE?? 💖

okay, so. i'll put together a likes/dislikes list and then conclude with my overall opinions. why am i writing this like the last sentence of my intro paragraph for a uni paper asdfgh

what i fucked with:

so much representation!!! a little gay family and an emotional homosexual onscreen kiss with one of the main characters!! hell fckin yeah! a deaf main character?? YES!! the beautiful bollywood scene!!! the main main character being an asian woman when it could have been any of the other white and/or male characters?? YESYESYES!! that made me very happy

the costume design was amazing, as was the set design. i did read that eternals was filmed more onsite than marvel films usually are, which is great. it was a gorgeous movie to watch

also cause everyone in it is so gorgeous?? richard madden? gemma chan? angelina jolie? be still my beating heart

i really loved how all the eternals had different powers, and how they complimented each other. it was really cool to watch the way they fought together

the relationship between thena and gil was everything.

i also think the concept of sprite and her age issues was really well done. i found her annoying at the end but that was kind of the point, i can't imagine how frustrated she must have been

the fuckin. oh my god. the ikea table joke. my friend and i DIED. that is a contender for funniest marvel joke of all time

i think the concept of the movie was actually kinda really dope and interesting. like, the idea that celestials are born of intelligent life and that's why the eternals were sent to protect human life and serve this greater purpose? cool. it felt original and interesting, and didn't content too much with existing marvel lore.

what was maybe kind of wack:

we saw the movie at 20:45, and the movie theatre didn't serve popcorn after 20:00 because of some inconsistent dutch covid rules and so we couldn't have popcorn. this has nothing to do with the movie but it made me sad so it's going in here anyway

this didn't bother me as much as it did my bestie -- i obviously facetimed her as soon as i got home -- but she was right in pointing out that there was a bit of a problem with the lack of chronology. sometimes the flashback scenes weren't indicated as such soon enough, but mostly the problem was how this influenced the building of characters and relationships

because all of the backstory (just of the characters and their developing relationships) isn't until later in the movie, it's harder to care about them until then. they want us to mourn a relationship and mourn a character before we even know them

which is part of the reason i didn't find ikarus and sersi that convincing. i did ship them in the beginning, but my bestie didn't at all. they tell us they're in love without first showing us how they fell in love, and when they do show us, it's in a few short basic scenes

(also, this isn't necessarily bad but ? a sex scene? in a marvel movie?? i don't know her)

but yeah, i think that not only their relationship, but the relationships between all of them would have been more convincing with more initial scenes of them just bonding and joking around and being a family. we only got references to that, and then the scenes where they're all yelling at each other

which ties to what i would have loved: a montage scene with fun music that shows what they were all up to through the ages. apart from that one short hiroshima scene, all we got was modern day and BC. i want to see phastos finally invent the steam engine! i want sersi in a flapper dress! i want ikaris to be madden back in the kit from cinderella fit!! it also would have been a great way to let the audience get to know the characters better in order to fall in love with them, and a way for the relationships to develop

even though i shipped them, i wasn't invested enough in ikaris' and sersi's realtionship, which might be the crux of it. i liked dane too much and there wasn't enough set up for them. there's that writing rule about romance, and how a good romance is written in such a way that they don't need to kiss in order for you to realize it's romantic. they barely had that.

who was the villain? while i think it can be nice to have ambiguity, the fact that it kept switching around in this movie was a bit confusing. i sometimes forgot who they were fighting.

the really cheesy music over the dramatic moments was too much sometimes. i couldn't help but laugh when it was taking itself way too seriously

which leads me to my last point. they thought they were being so dramatic. they thought they were being so clever. they had ikaris fucking YEET himself into the sun after he messed up once (1), and i was laughing. it was fucking hilarious, and i know that that's not what they were going for. it your defining dramatic moment comes across as ridiculous, you fucked up

what is harry styles doing in the mcu. baby no, run while you can. i think he'll do a great job and i love him but i'll need some time because right now i don't wike it.

conclusion: 6.5/10

i was very much entertained and i had a good time and i fell in love with some characters, but i would have been more in love with them with just a few additional scenes. it was a beautiful movie to watch and had some absolutely hilarious anecdotes that made me laugh out loud. i wish i would have had popcorn. ikarus yeeting himself into the sun is ridiculous. the half point is for the ikea joke.

If anybody had told you a year ago that you’d be dating a guitar-playing, puppy-eyed law student with a sharp tongue, you’d have laughed in their face and brushed them off. You weren’t the type to date- you weren’t the type for romance at all. 

Growing up as the youngest sibling in a family full of talent and outspoken opinions, you’d built a wall around yourself very early on to protect your own smaller, more personal sentiments. It was possible that very wall that left you a closed-off, almost intimidating air that made people think twice about approaching you. You didn’t mind it, really. It was peaceful, within those walls, an isolated wonderland that nobody could ruin for you. 

That is until a certain Kim Seungmin came along. It was almost easy, falling for him; Seungmin was the kind of boy that anybody could end up falling for. You didn’t expect your feelings for him to be returned, of course. You knew how you were- cold, prickly, almost unpleasant, a complete opposite to his warm, open self. 

Surprisingly enough, that wasn’t the case.

You first saw Seungmin at Imperium, the bar closest to your campus. Imperium, however, served a completely different purpose to those who knew of it: It was an entrance to the heart of the underground fight club network in your city. And you just so happened to be one of its’ sweethearts. 

Minor fact about you:

You were a kickboxer. A good one at that. 

You had a knack for it, the way your siblings had a knack for writing or dancing. When one of your gym trainers introduced you to the underground fight scene the summer after high school, you didn’t hesitate for a second before agreeing to join. Now halfway through university, you and your best friend were two of the best fighters the Imperium fight club had.

Changbin, your gym trainer, had told you to scope out competition for the new season, which was why you were at the club despite not having fights that day.  The two of you had hung around a corner of the basement, talking to acquaintances, until Changbin asked you if you wanted to meet some of his friends. 

Your hesitant agreement had him leading you to a rowdy group of 4 guys, who seemed more than happy to meet one of the club’s fighters. They introduced themselves one by one- you even recognized Hyunjin, the cheeky blonde bookie that loved to take your best friend’s bets before her fights. 

Seungmin was true to his words, he really was a simple guy. You spoke throughout the evening, a rarity for you. He was a law major, the same year as you, a bathroom singer and an ardent DAY6 fan. He was unconstrained with his smiles and open with his opinions, razor-sharp with his wit and dry with his humour. It was so easy to talk to him, even for you- the kind of person who wasn’t much for small talk.

The last boy that spoke caught your eye. He was a little taller than the other guys, eyes a sparkling brown even in the harsh lighting of the basement. “Hi, I’m Seungmin,” His voice was soft, melodic, almost. You nodded slightly at the boys, a small smile slipping across your face as you introduced yourself.

“Oh, I know you,” exclaimed Minho, one of the other guys. “Aren’t you the one that won the rookie championship last year?” The rest of the boys regarded you with renewed curiosity, looks that you were used to. A girl in the circuit was still rare, much less a championship winner.

“Yeah.”

You spent the rest of the evening with the boys, mostly because you were intrigued by the boy called Seungmin. He kept up an easy conversation with you, calming despite the clamor and rage ripping across the basement after the fight slots began.

“This doesn’t seem like your kind of scene.”

He smiled at your comment, a show of pearly teeth and cosy warmth. “It isn’t. I got dragged here because Hyunjin thought I was spending too long with my textbooks.”

“So what is your kinda scene?” You were surprised at yourself, you never took the effort of keeping up a conversation like this- but Seungmin made you curious, you had to find out more.

“I’m a simple guy, really,” He laughed- he was cute, you thought. Really, really cute.

“You get me ice cream good music and good company, I’m yours.”

When the night winded down, he shyly asked to exchange numbers with you after insisting on walking you home.  How could you not agree, especially with the way he looked at you, curious and admiring?

Your friendship with Seungmin progressed quickly- You met up a lot, explored cafes and had impromptu midnight grocery runs together. He was fun, almost puppy-like in his enthusiasm, his vibe so alluring that you ended up buying into it too.  There was a lot of banter between both of you, effortlessly silly and extremely witty. Seungmin was the type to hound you with random tidbits of trivia, things you wondered why he even knew of. But it was so... So characteristic of him that you just found it endearing. Even his sharp, acerbic wit. Especially his sharp, acerbic wit.

Seungmin left you with warm cheeks and a wide smile, he felt like the kind of person you didn’t have to keep your walls up around. It felt nice, suddenly, to have somebody who could live in your wonderland with you and not judge you one bit.

The months passed faster with Seungmin,  like a whirlwind of strawberry smoothies and fried chicken. There was an almost magnetic aura around him- maybe it was his charming boy-next-door smile or the way he carried himself, looking almost small, diminutive in stature despite his frame bordering on lanky. Over the months, you’d realized that maybe you enjoyed your time with Seungmin way more than you thought you would,  maybe you had a little bit of a crush on him, maybe you’d wanted to peck his pretty lips more than one time before…

When he asked you to join him on a movie night with his roommates, you couldn’t refuse.  Turned out, Jisung and his girlfriend enjoyed your company so much that you became a constant addition to their movie nights. So you found yourself frequenting Seungmin’s quaint, well-organized apartment every Saturday with assorted junk food, and the quiet excitement of meeting Seungmin again.

He turned up at one of your kickboxing sessions one day, watching in pure awe as Changbin took you through the motions of training for the new season.  After asking if you were okay with him dropping by, he made it a point to turn up as often as possible, his guitar slung across his back. “You’re so good at this,” he’d say every time Changbin allowed you a break. Your heart would flutter a little every time, leaving you slightly flustered and warm in the face.

After you were done, he’d walk you home, sometimes pulling you into the park on the way and playing songs for you on the guitar.

“Holy fucking shit.” Seungmin’s reaction to your slightly battered frame was instantaneous,  grabbing you gently by the shoulders and ushering you into his apartment. “It’s not that bad, I just need a few bandaids.” You protested, hissing softly at the sting that your split lip brought when you spoke. Seungmin scanned your frame quickly,  marking the spots on your body that you seemed to carry heavy or marked with specks of blood.

A heavy silence weighed down on the room, a silence which demanded you break. “Sorry I had to disturb,” your voice came out smaller than you expected. “I got jumped a few blocks away from here, and this was the first safe place I could think of.”

His roommates took in your state from their perch on the kitchen counter, Jisung’s eyes wide in alarm. His girlfriend(and Seungmin’s third roommate) hopped off the counter, hurrying towards you and Seungmin.

“Min, you know where the first aid kit is, right?” She asked, taking your hand as she gently pulled you towards her room. “Get it to the kitchen, I’ll get Y/N a change of clothes.” 

Soon enough, you were sat on Jisung’s previous perch on the kitchen counter, Seungmin giving you a stern once over as he tended to your injuries. Jisung and his girlfriend seemed to have retreated into one of the bedrooms, possibly to give you and Seungmin some space. 

“What happened, darling?” He asked softly, knelt in front you as he dabbed antiseptic onto your knee. “One of the guys I beat last week wanted revenge,” you sighed, swallowing a hiss at the sting. “so he decided to jump me with some buddies.” You tried really hard to ignore the new nickname- a nickname you liked very much when he used it.

Seungmin’s head shot up, eyes flashing in incredulity. “Isn’t that against the rules?!” He asked, temporarily abandoning his ministrations. “Yeah, I’ll make a report tomorrow, he’ll probably get booted for this.” you shrugged. 

“He probably wasn’t expecting me to be able to talk after? I don’t know.” 

You’d never seen that dark look flash across your sweet boyfriend’s eyes before. “That sick bastard.” He never swore, your warm Seungmin. 

“It’s okay, Min,” you murmured, running your fingers through his hair. 

“I know it’s okay,” Seungmin said, standing up to focus on the injuries on your face and collar. “You enjoy kickboxing way too much to be fazed by something like this, I know you can take care of yourself, it’s just...” 

He sighed, leaning closer to you as he checked on your split lip. “It scares me a little every time you end up hurt.”You could see the sprinkle of a blush heating up his cheekbones as he spoke the words, still focused on your lip. You couldn’t help it, a smile spread across your face, broad and unrestrained. Seungmin stopped and stepped back, his eyes wide with wonder. “You’re so beautiful…” the words left his mouth before he could stop them, and a rush of heat gave you a blush that mirrored Seungmin’s own.

“I- um-”

“That’s probably the first time I’ve ever seen you flustered,” he observed, a lopsided smile on his face. You returned his grin as much as you could without jostling your lip too much. Something had switched in the energy between you at his compliment, there was warm electricity where there was usually cool and easy banter.

It was new, unfamiliar, but strangely enough, you didn’t hate it.

“You should stay here for the night,” Seungmin offered, still in the soft voice he’d used before. “I’d end up worrying about you all night if you went home like this.”

“Okay.”

And that was how Jisung found the two of you next morning cuddled on the couch, Seungmin holding you with your head nuzzled into his neck, lost to the world. Even in sleep, Seungmin was careful of your newly acquired injuries, hands light around your waist and softly tangled in your hair.

It was warm in your wonderland, and it was all because of Seungmin.

it’s also very stressful when your sweet boyfriend lives across the world

you had visited him for a week recently but, obviously, you had to go back home

it was one of those early morning study sessions because you really needed to pass this quiz

When Unie tells him it is for a Starless New Year's interview, Kokuyou says the first resolution that comes to mind:

“Team W is going to reign as champions with me as their top.”

Akira decides to skip the traditional resolutions and picks a unique one:

“Learn Singo.”

Though Akira wishes that Sin would speak like a normal person, he is determined to understand his teammate. 

One can never be too cautious, especially when they're in a team with suspicious people. 

Sin finds the resolution question to be interesting. He hasn’t thought about resolutions, but he comes up with an answer on the spot:

Darkness brings about a sense of peace, but within that tranquility lurks danger. 

Unei never looked so confused in his life. 

The cast members were getting on his back about his video game addiction. 

Just for a second, Taiga considers a "what-if" scenario. What if his New Year resolution is to stop playing video games?

Even thinking that is enough to make his heart fail. 

He knows that is not going to happen this year or anytime soon, so he chooses a safe resolution: 

“Work harder to find his brother.” 

Takami doesn’t believe in making resolutions, but he takes this as another opportunity to agitate his opponents. 

“Get answers to all my questions using any means necessary.” 

He knows his enemies are going to be on edge after reading his reply.

Kei doesn’t feel the need to make a New Year's resolution, but Unei informs him that he needs to pick one for Starless's New Year's interview. 

Kei immediately answers:

“Protect her and her smile at any cost.” 

Knowing that his response is going to get printed, Sotetsu wants to give an entertaining answer:

“To tease her more.”

He can't wait for you to read his answer. Sotetsu knows he's going to get some great reactions from you. 

Ginsei has one and only one resolution. 

He knows it'll take everything he has, but he's determined to make it come true. 

"To win her heart and make her mine."

Gui had no idea what a New Year's resolution was, so he asked Ginsei. 

Once Gui understood, Ginsei asked what Gui would pick as his resolution, and he answered: 

Find master. 

Yoshino didn't even need to think for a second. He already knew what his resolution was going to be:

Become a better singer. 

This time around, he was going to take as many chances as he got to sing. 

Rindou has one resolution, but he doesn't want his fans or teammates to think poorly of him. 

Instead of picking his top resolution, "Take less stress", he chooses:

"Work harder for my sisters." 

Sinju has many resolutions he wants to make for the new year. 

In light of the recent event, Sinju chooses: 

"Win a versus event for his team with him in the center." 

Sinju hopes that his fans will support him and make his resolution a reality. 

Maica's life revolves around singing, as does his resolution:

"Be the best singer I can be." 

He also wants to help bring Team P together, but he doesn't want his teammates to know that resolution. 

Menou doesn't care for the resolution, especially since Unei disturbed his nap. 

As a joke, Menou says: 

"Sleep less."

Yakou still hasn't had free time, and he fears that his relationship with you may suffer. 

When Unei calls him, Yakou answers: 

"Make time for her." 

He hopes his message reaches you. 

Mokuren had one resolution, has one resolution, and will always have one resolution:

"To improve their dancing." 

They know they are a dancing god, but Mokuren knows they can become better. 

Out of all the cast members, Qu takes the longest to pick his resolution. 

After thinking for a while, Qu says:

"Improve my makeup skills and get recognized internationally." 

Hari doesn't need to make any resolutions, but for the sake of the interview, he attempts to think of one. 

As he files through the events in his life, he remembers one moment the most. 

"Get praised by Mokuren for my dancing skills." 

Before Unei came to interview Kasumi, you were talking to him about your resolution.

Kasumi wasn't sure what to pick for his resolution, and you jokingly said he should eat as many donuts as he possibly can.

Unei is shocked when he hears Kasumi say: 

"Eat as many donuts as I possibly can." 

Zakuro's entire life revolves around two things: Starless and finding his memories. 

He wants his resolution to be "find a blackcard", but he knows he can't say that without consequences. 

So Zakuro settles for:

“Get my memories back."

Like a few other members, Mizuki doesn't care for making resolutions, so he ignores Unei. 

Even after Unei chases him around, Mizuki doesn't answer; instead, he nearly roundhouse kicks Unei. 

As a last resort, management asks Kokuyou, irritating him even more. 

Kokuyou's resolution for Mizuki is:

"Ask Kokuyou Nii-chan before taking his wallet." 

Lately, Kongou has had one thought on his mind, but he's too nervous to tell you. 

He doesn't want you to push you away or scare you, so Kongou uses this opportunity to share his thought with you:

"Get married." 

The ex-wrestler hopes that you get the hint. 

Ran chooses: 

"Spend more time with Sabu."

As Unei takes notes, Ran stops him and says he changes his mind:

"Become an arson king."

After 30 minutes of listing out various resolutions, he finally picks: 

"Become an idol!"

Heath is happy to know that his resolution is going to be printed in the interview. 

He has a message for you but is too shy to tell you in person:

"Continue fighting no matter what...for her."

After hearing that, Heath's fans can't stop wondering who "her" is referring to, and what Heath means by “fighting”. 

Rico's resolution is simple and straight: 

"Clear his debt." 

He has another resolution that has to do with teaching certain cast members a lesson or two, but he keeps that to himself. 

Though he started working at Starless for experience, Unei considers the cast members as his family. 

To his surprise, Kei tells Unei to add his resolution in the interview.

Unei can hardly contain his excitement and adds: 

"Work harder for Starless and stand by the cast."

@shhhlikeme i decided to make you a post about my thoughts and feelings about your new outtakes cos i definitely had wayy too many for an ask. Under the cut just because this became longgg.

I took so many screenshots while reading this so I wouldnt forget anything and just that these are my favourite parts as well 

Outtake 13

Okay this outtake was both amazing and gut wrenching. I loved getting to see Kenjis thoughts so much!! His and Aones friendship is so beautifully written in this story, I really appreciate how much detail you put into side charcaters. I see it a lot in shojou manga where the main girl just sometimes straight forget she friends at all because its a love story but the fact that Kenji has been a constant in the whole story is wonderful and I love it so much.

Of course as all good friends are he's angry at reader-chan for breaking Aones heart, but like if anyone yelled at me like that I would crying straight away. Reader-chan is a lot stronger then I am to hold it in as well as she did. When he said/thought "And it was all your fault" that hurt

OKAY BUT AONE PROTECTING READER-CHAN, I LOVE IT SO MUCH. AONE CAN BE MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR🥺

Outtake 14

This outtake was great, im glad things started to look up and brighter. I love how you used K_nji 😂😂 its so perfect to describe the duo together. I swear tho there are so many boys with similar firsr names in haikyuu, we've got Kenji, Kanji and Keiji. Im glad they mostly go by last names, even tho there are similar last names: Wahio and Washijo, Ojiro and Ohira.

I do lile that k_nji's are trying to help him actually get over reader-chan for the time being. Deleting photos and changing wallpapers. I really really liked Aone and Kenji having their silent conversation and Kanji just being the loud and doesn't know when to be quiet boy he is

When Aone asked  “…….You know how to make the pain……stop? I broke, this poor mountain man needs a hug and to mend his broken heart🥺

Your gifs are always amazing and I love what they add to the story but the mean girls one. Kogane was gonna die if he said anything more in that situation 😂😂😂

Step 4 🍆 i don't know what I was expecting when I saw the title but this whole section was a whole lot of kogane needing to learn subtly and how to read the room and a reminder of simpler days when Aone would just tell Kenji about his wet dreams😔

BUT THIS BIG DUMB BOY KOGANE COMING IN WITH THE "OH BUT YOUVE SEEN HER NAKED THO SHES HOT AS FUCK" (obviously my own paraphrasing😂😂) I was ready to slap this boy though the screen.

Outtake 15

Okay finally at the last part, finally a part thats looking up for our losty couple. Thinking about them being in university and still heart broken hurts😭 but the magic of coincidence and now Aone and Reader-chan have to work on an assignment together.

When reader-chan said she'd also been crying every night since the breakup, that really hurt. Knowing both of them are sharing the same hurt but dealing with it separately is jusy like your twisting my heart on purpose.

And that Aone ans Reader-chans backgrounds were the matching 😭😭

Okay but like I'd be checking out Aone too if he was in my class😋 when he wanted to consesnsually bend reader-chan over the desk and more. First we stan a man who respects consent but also wants to satisfy you so bad. Second these two better get back together soon so there won't be sad tears, just years of pleasure💦
