I’m glad you asked  !   I have this super random and not really useful headcanon for him and it goes like this  :  Emìl doesn’t know it,  given how very little he remembers about his early childhood,  but his mother didn’t give birth to him in the comfort of a house,  or even a village,  no.  he was born in the middle of the forest,  at night,  under the moon,  not too far from Skellige,  actually  (   where Manissa was either headed to,  or leaving from  ).  the one thing he vaguely remembers,  however,  is her telling him to look to the moon,  if he ever felt lost,  because it would have always been there for him.

as I do have a more show based approach,  emìl doesn’t necessarily need to use an oak wand.  he certainly can,  but it’s rarer to see,  unless the situation calls for it,  such as festivities,  rituals  (  harmless  ),  or particularly complicated spells.  oak is,  after all,  an important element and it holds power,  but  —  as I have chosen to see it,  so don’t take any of this as truth  —  it only serves as a conduit for magic,  to better direct it.  wand or not,  the principle is still the same,  however  :  magic is bound to the strength of the user and,  in both cases,  it’s depleting.  the stronger the spell,  the more energy it will need to take away.

actually,  one more thing  !!   just letting this be known  :  if your muse is a creature of any kind and is in need of healing,  emìl would never refuse to aid them.  this applies always,  whatever the nature of said muse,  human or not,  and no matter the verse.  so,  in case any of you want a thread like this...  the possibility is very much there.  hmu if you’re interested  ??

𝙼𝙾𝚄𝚂𝙴𝚂𝙰𝙲𝙺  ,  𝙰 𝙷𝙴𝙻𝙿𝙵𝚄𝙻 𝙼𝙸𝙽𝙸 𝙶𝚄𝙸𝙳𝙴

first of all.  I only watched the show for now,  so this is just me trying to move through various information I’ve gathered and mixed together from books,  game and comics.  but  !!  If you think there’s something I should know  /  read  /  whatever always feel free to tell me and I’ll be more than willing to look into it. .  he went by a few different names through the years,  so people that ran into him some decades ago might not know him as Mousesack,  but rather as Ermion.  which surely isn’t his real name.  this,  along with the fact his appearance subtly shifts  (  nothing much,  but people could swear his eyes were a deep brown once.  now they are light blue.  a bit confusing,  isn’t it  ?   ),  helps him keep a low profile,  to stir unwanted attention in the opposite direction. .  his given name is Emil and it’s safe to say very few people know it.  your muse won’t automatically know this,  then,  unless we discussed it first.  it’s possible,  I won’t say it isn’t,  he either trusts your muse enough to give up this information,  or they go a long way back. .  I think in the game it’s supposed to be later,  but since it would make little sense,  roleplay wise..  he is already the hierophant of the Skellige circle by the time he reaches Cintra. .  I personally love the comics take on him and Geralt being childhood friends,  but I won’t assume we are on the same page without having talked about it first.  if you would rather have them meet differently it’s fine,  no problem. .  magic is involved so he is quite obviously older than he looks.  give or take,  he should be around Geralt's age  --  a couple years older,  to be exact.  which means a little over 100 years old,  yes.

𝙰 𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚈 𝙱𝚁𝙸𝙴𝙵 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃𝙸𝙰𝙻 𝚃𝙸𝙼𝙴𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙴  ,  without dates because I am terrible with them.

.  6 years old  :  his mother  (  Manissa,  a witch  ),  is killed by Korin  (  Geralt's father  ).  not knowing what happened and not having any other family members around,  the boy gets taken under Korin and Visenna’s wing.

.  14 years old  :  Visenna takes him to the druid circle of Mayena. .  20 years old  :  after the destruction of the Mayena circle,  he is invited to a Witcher tournament,  that soon turns out to be a planned massacre.  he helps Geralt escape. .  25  years old  :  Emil reaches Skellige and later enstablishes his own druid circle. it’s around this time that he starts using Ermion as a name. .  35  years old  :  becomes advisor to Bran Tuirseach of Skellige.

it just came randomly to me while staring,  once again,  at the c.olin m.organ gifset,  for some unknown reason.  it’s emìl, not èmil.  but,  truth be told,  mousesack is not entirely sure that is actually his given name  :  he just vaguely remembers his mother calling him like that,  but it could be a nickname,  or a shortened version of a name.

𝙼𝙾𝚄𝚂𝙴𝚂𝙰𝙲𝙺  ,  𝚂𝙾𝙼𝙴 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝙳𝙲𝙰𝙽𝙾𝙽𝚂

  &  𝙼𝙰𝙶𝙸𝙲

I think it’s really telling that the few times we have seen him use magic,  in the show,  were for defensive purposes.  part of it relies on circumstances,  obviously,  since they were dangerous situations  (  was a barrier the smartest course of action  ?   debatable,  but that’s not the point I need to make here  ),  yet that’s not all there is to it.  the use of magic Emil makes is,  at its core,  defensive,  it stems both from growing up around druids and his selfless nature.  using magic to harm is the last option,  the one to use when everything else fails,  no wonder it’s very rare to see him get to that point.  he would rather protect than attack and this is very important to me.  this is also why people usually tend to underestimate him,  which he can easily use to his advantage  ——  let them think there is not much he can do,  let them see the advisor and not the druid.  he really doesn’t mind. most of the magic he used while in Cintra revolved around healing  (  we didn’t get to see that,  sadly  ),  mixed herbs for various purposes  (  sleep aids,  mostly,  as well as remedies for minor ailments like headaches that didn’t require actual healing  ). &  𝙰𝙽𝙸𝙼𝙰𝙻𝚂 animals are usually drawn to him,  they approach and trust him easily.  he can be often found healing injured animals and tending to them,  as they are very important for druids.  for this very reason,  he could be considered a vegetarian, but not in a strict definition of the term  ——  meaning that,  if given the choice,  he won’t eat meat of any kind,  yet he is willing to adapt to the custom of other places and won’t impose his choice on others.  an easy guess,  but hurting animals is one of the fastest ways to get on his nerves.  I’d say it comes second place on his scale  (  do I really have to say what comes first  ?  do I  ??  it starts with S and ends with bor  ) extra  :  I am very partial to him being a vet in modern verses. &  𝙶𝙴𝙽𝙴𝚁𝙰𝙻 𝙾𝚅𝙴𝚁𝚅𝙸𝙴𝚆 his role as an advisor doesn’t exclude the fact he still very much holds the traditions and practices he grew up learning and observing.  he still gives importance to certain recurrences tied to specific periods of the year  (  Samhain,  the solstices and the equinoxs,  Lughnasadh and so on  )  and he is also still very much is the leader of the druid circle of Skellige,  even if he doesn’t dress the part,  even after he chose to spend most of his time in Cintra.  it’s still an important part of him and he is not going to leave it behind.
