You softly knocked on the apartment door, the sky dimming with darkness as the sun began to set. You tried to hold yourself together, to muster the strength to keep your chin up regardless of everything that oppressed your heart to the oblivion that had consumed you. But you couldn’t.

As tears arose in your eyes and your heart began to rip open, seeping the blood of sadness, you felt yourself slowly slipping into a weep. The door opened, your boyfriend’s silhouette emerging from behind it as warm air embraced you. A shuddered breath slipped your lips as your tears obscured your vision and flooded down your face. Swiftly, as if instinctively, you hugged Riki, encompassing his figure in your arms and silencing your cries into his chest. His hands intuitively lifted, gently caressing your back and pulling you closer.

Your heart paced, quickened with the adrenaline that cracked you open and poured you out, an unfamiliar sensation in the pit of your stomach as your stomach clenched with each sob that escaped you.

“It’s okay, I got you,” Riki’s voice soothed the ache the lump in your throat had caused. You felt so vulnerable, so weak with the worry and sadness that overcame you, putting you in a position you didn’t know how to get out of. It was so pitiful.

But Riki didn’t see it that way. In his mind, you were something so fragile, so precious. He knew you were only human, and as much as it’d hurt to see you so low, he saw the beauty in your pain. Although momentary, he felt endeared by the fact you felt vulnerable with him, it was a special place in which he felt the love you felt for him. He didn’t pity you, he loved you.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked in a delicate whisper, pulling back just barely to look into your tear-glistening eyes. He tucked a stray hair behind your ear, his eyes nearly never leaving yours as his fingers lingered on your face.

“I think I just want to lie down for a little while.” Your voice rang out like a discordant harmony, the ache in your throat reflective in your tone. You pulled him close, faces only separated by the familiar warmth of his breath and the intoxicating scent of his perfume. “Thank you, Riki. I love you.”

Your voice was now tender, a contrast of the one you uttered just moments prior. As the words slipped through your lips, you pressed your mouth against his, feeling the softness of his lips on yours. The kiss began gently, slowly deepening as you felt the weight of life begin to lift. His hands cradled your face, thumbs lightly caressing your cheeks. The kiss lingered, urgency melting into tenderness as you began to part, breath lost in the mix of it all and a smile tugging lightly at your lips.

Watching Sunghoon’s svelte frame in the salt-water pool, the thin clothes clinging to his figure as he glided across the water, you relished in the sight.

“Having fun watching, babe?” His velvety voice echoed through the enclosed space, water splashing as a smirk washed over his lips. You paused, the sight of his pretty brown eyes gazing at you, his head tilted and his eyebrow lifted, it was all too much to take in.

You rolled your eyes playfully, sugary lips curving into a smile as you slowly dipped yourself into the pool. The water placed cold kisses against your skin as you sunk in, your body already trembling as you neared Sunghoon who stood there, smiling.

“That’s better,” he whispered, placing his hands on your hips and pulling you closer, his hands sliding up and down your form. You smiled, a shiver still present as you wrapped your arms around his neck.

“You like to see me like this?” You teased and leaned closer, your lips almost pressing against his skin, but you halted. Your breath brushes against his ear, your voice a low whisper. “I could get used to this view… but I’m not the only one enjoying it, am I?”

You pulled away from him, savouring the reaction he gave as your hand rested on his practically bare chest, the white cloth barely visible as if it had simply disintegrated.

“Will this answer your question?” Sunghoon asked rhetorically, gripping your waist tight, his arms pulling you close. A soft giggle left your lips, muffled as he kissed you. Your arms wrapped around him as the kiss deepened, your fingers tangling within his hair. His breath became heavy as your lips traced down his neck leaving sweet love bites on his Adam's apple.

Warmth radiated from Sunghoon’s body contrasting the cold water that splashed around you. His fingers dug into your waist, pulling you closer as your kisses quickened with more urgency and lust.

You placed rough kisses along his delicate skin, lingering over his collarbone. You couldn’t resist the temptation, gently biting down, a soft nip at his skin that made him gasp, breath hitched in his throat. You pulled back, watching his reaction as his eyes grew dark, lips parted as he looked down at you and an unreadable expression painted his face.

“Careful, babe,” he teased, his voice deep and throaty as he leaned toward you. You smiled, your fingers trailing down his body, caressing his firm abs. Water thrashed around you as you leaned closer, peppering soft kisses against his chest.

Sunghoon’s hands stroked your back, the heat between you warming the cold pool. You felt his rapid heartbeat against your lips as you trailed your way back up his neck. You paused, meeting his lust-drunken gaze.

You pressed your lips against his, capturing the taste of the sweet nectar that glazed them, a salty mixture of the water that filled your tastebuds. His hand gently held your hair as he pushed you into him, deepening the kiss. Without thought or hesitation, your teeth lightly clamped on his lower lip, eliciting a soft groan from him. You felt yourself smirk against his lips as blood seeped into your mouth.

“You really want to play?” A murmure escaped his now bloodied lips, his breath brushing against your cold face. “I can bite back, y’know?”

He gripped your waist tight, his strong arms lifting you as you wrapped your legs around his abdomen. The water splashed around your bodies as his lips collided with yours. Every kiss, every caress sent your heart aflame, a desire filled you with hunger for the taste of his lips.

CH. 1 – you want… me? to be ur wingman? . . . masterlist / previous / next !

nishimura riki has been your best friend since the beginning of time.. well, since you were about four years old. the two of you have been inseparable since stepping onto the wooden floor of your shared dance studio, infatuated with each other from the get-go. 

growing alongside the boy was special, if anything. there was rarely a time where you felt invisible or unheard with him, riki always finding a way to brighten the mood. from his energetic personality, witty humor, and the way he always listened– your friendship was unbreakable.

the two of you shared a bond so immense that it led you to attend the same university, both majoring in the realm of dance– your passion lingering as time blurred from the small figures you were all those years ago. 

as per usual, sat beside the boy, you took a bite of your steaming ramen, contemplating the next steps of your uneventful college life. between coursework, spending time with your best friends, and dancing– there was barely any time for the one thing you’d been thinking about for years; dating.

you’d wished that a special someone would come sweep you off of your feet as described in romance novels– except that reality wasn’t for you. it was true that your love life was comparable to the custodian’s dusty, dark, cobweb filled closet.

it wasn’t that you weren’t admired through the male gaze, it was simply the fact that nishimura riki seemed to be an obstacle to each boy who wanted to shoot their shot. except, who could blame them? your best friend was always attached to your hip, and you to his. he’s immensely tall, protective, and affectionate to the point it seemed as though he was your boyfriend.

except he isn’t.

“bubba.” riki’s husky voice called, breaking you out of the trance of deep thought you’d been in.

peering up at him with your adorable, curious eyes, he melts at the sight, a small smile tugging at his lips. “what’s on your mind, hm?” he questions softly, reaching a hand forward to rake his fingers through the soft ends of your hair.

“well.. it‘s just that i want to try going on a date, i think.” you admit in response, causing the boy to pause.

“you… you want to go on a date?” he asks, his protectiveness appearing at the forefront of his expression– masking his slight disappointment. “with who?” he proceeds to question, sounding skeptical.

it was no secret that the boy admired you, adored you with every ounce of his heart. he refused to treat any other female the way he does you. from an outsider’s viewpoint, anyone could tell that he loves you.

“that’s what i was getting to… could you– possibly set me up?” you ask ever so innocently, causing riki’s heart to crack inside of his chest.

“you want… me?” he begins, pointing to himself with his index finger, “to be your wingman?” the boy blinks, staring at you with a blank stare and parted lips.

“yes!” you agree with a cheeky grin, nodding your head in addition to the verbal response.

with a heavy sigh, the boy nods, flashing a small, tight-lipped smile toward you. “alright, baby. i’ll set you up on a date this weekend.”
