Cannot believe Li Lianhua spent the entire show trying to accomplish one last thing, only to find out the truth behind what he thought was true. He wanted to neatly tie up all the strings he had left in life, then exit it. He's the ghost haunting the narrative, except he's still alive, and both the people who hate and love him refuse to let go of the memory of Li Xiangyi. Even when in the end he actually does die, after he sends a letter to Di Feisheng and asks him to fight someone else, and leaves his worldly possessions to Fang Duobing, he still has people chasing after him and asking him to please just come back and live. He was a ghost haunting the narrative when he was still alive and he's haunting the narrative even after he's dead.
Shaobingliji/烧饼里脊, basically one of the many styles of (breakfast) sandwiches in China. Shaobingliji apparently appeared first in Bengbu/蚌埠 in Anhui/安徽 province, and then spread to other regions. This particular version I made is the Tianjin/天津 version. Liji/里脊 means tenderloins but actually implies *pork* tenderloins in common vernacular, however because Tianjin is home to a sizeable population of Hui people (Hui people are Muslims and cannot eat pork), the pork tenderloins are replaced by chicken breast in the Tianjin version to make it Halal. The name remained the same, however.
The Tianjin version of shaobingliji has marinated, dyed (with a natural food dye called red yeast rice/红曲米), and sautéed chicken breasts, fried egg, and fried tianmian sauce/甜面酱, all sandwiched or stuffed into a shaobing/烧饼 flatbread. If anyone ever visits Tianjin, there are many streetside breakfast vendors selling the Tianjin version of shaobingliji, in my experience almost as many as the number of vendors selling the Tianjin specialty breakfast wrap jianbingguozi/煎饼果子.

ive finally finished be your own light!! im so glad ive watched it. it was very entertaining and the cast is absolutely fantastic. although im not really a fan of these kinda dramas, im glad i gave it a try bc the story was excellent and i enjoyed it a lot! the three female leads were really the best. i was so touched by each of their stories and the actresses that portrayed such wholesome characters were just. flawless. even some supporting actors caught my attention, theyve done a rly good job. needless to say the veteran actors also played a big part and they were very charming
i do think there were some parts lacking. for example some unnecessary plots that put our female leads into complicated situations, i know it was for the drama but some stuff was rly meaningless. also the whole thing abt ou kaige and the huge debt was a tad confusing and rushed. and they forgot to mention what happened with the 3 old creditors from the first episodes hahajd
but anyways. i was so into it for the female friendship and liu yuning lmao
so what else. congratulations to all the teams working on the drama💕
