Synopsis: A building collapse ties the fates of three young people years later. Ten years ago, the S Mall collapsed due to shoddy construction, killing 48 people inside. Ha Moon Soo (Won Jin Ah) was there with her younger sister, who died in the accident. Lee Kang Doo (Junho) was there waiting for his father, an electrician doing work on the building. Seo Joo Won (Lee Ki Woo) was helping his father, the head engineer of the building. Moon Soo, Kang Doo and Joo Won survived the horrible accident, but their loved ones did not. Years later, Joo Won is an architect who is working on a new project to replace the former S Mall. With her keen eye for detail and sturdy building construction, Moon Soo ends up working for Joo Won on the project. Kang Doo works odd jobs to get by and also ends up working at the new construction site. How will they each deal with their respective pains as they are reminded of the event that changed all of their lives so profoundly?

Personal opinion: Ask me any time of any day and I will always tell you: Just Between Lovers is my all time favourite drama! I love how the show depicts trauma. Its real, ugly and leaves scars that all of the characters have to deal with in some way. They also don’t shy away from more controversial topics, such as panic disorders, living with a low income and even prostitution. I also loved how strong Moon Soo stays throughout the show, even with all the shit that is thrown at her. This drama made me cry every time I saw it (I’ve seen it 3 times so far woops) and the chemistry between the leads is insane! I would definitely recommend this show to everyone!!

Heee. What a busy drama schedule for me right now. I have been watching Nothing to lose for quite some time now, because I started watching once it started airing. It started out really nice as a quirky legal drama. What’s fresh is that it is set within the judges’s chambers of the court. The first time (at least for me) that the drama is centred around a group of judges. But since last week’s episodes, I’m feeling that the storyline is getting a bit extreme; like how is it possible for the prisoner to pass some powdered poison to a prison guard, who then helped the prisoner add to the bottle of water, which was drank by the prisoner afterwards in a suicide attempt in a court during a hearing, a successful attempt by the way. Like how corrupted must the prison be for this to happen? Or plot wise, a very big plot hole?

As for black knight, I find the leading couple strange. There is no chemistry (yet?). But the drama premise is interesting. That’s keeping me interested in this drama. For some reason, I am more attracted to the antagonist and the green lady. The BGM that sounds like Mongolian throat singing had been bugging me. I wonder if the magic in this drama is written according to a Mongolian folklore or not. 

Smart Prison Living opens up a new perspective of prisoners. Especially about their living conditions in the prison today and how these prisoners ended up in the prison. There are justice and also injustice. For some of the prisoners, we all know why they’re here. They’ve got bad attitude, gangster tendencies, anger control issues or bad social behaviour. The worse ones are murderers, drug traffickers or drug addicts. Those are justified. There’s also some who came in because there is no evidence to prove them not guilty. And others who took the blame for others in exchange for money.

Just between lovers is a currently my favrouite drama among those I’m watching. Apart from some unnecessary noble idiocy by the male lead, Kang Doo, and a sideline romance between the CEO Seo and Ms Jung (his step sister), everything else is great. I love the fact that the drama is set in Busan! I love Busan. This drama just makes me wanna go back there again. I’m jealous of CEO Seo’s apartment, such great views! Not to mention the good food! Back to the drama, just between lovers is a drama literally about that. But there’s a but of a loss in translation here. In Korean, 그냥 사랑하는 사이, means just the relationship between two people who love each other, the love could also one-sided love. In other words, the title did not imply that the two must already be lovers. Which is true for the case of our lead couple, as well as the relationship between CEO Seo and Ms Jung, and the crush CEO Seo had for Moon Soo.

Hwayugi is an intelligent remake of the Chinese Classic Journey to the west. It is exceptionally interesting. As in, I knew all the characters since young, watching a few adaptations in the form of dramas or movies or even novels. But for a remake set in a 21st century is the first, at least for me. I read that it is not the first time someone adapted the Samjang (the monk) character as a woman. A japanese production did it before but it was slammed. However, in Hwayugi’s case, it was praised.
