No one could move through this world and leave it completely untouched; as waves in a pool, or footprints in the sand, they all left their mark upon the star. Yet those imprints were meant to fade with time. And if Stella’s tale was to be believed, there were some ten-thousand odd years between the life of her protégé, and this new soul. 

“Perhaps your time here in Elpis has acted like something of a trigger,” she mused. Something in her being, however small, remembered this place. This time. It struck her as a comforting thought that whatever happened, perhaps some part of them would go on living in the souls of those that followed in their footsteps. Though she could imagine it just as frightening a notion from the other side. A gentle concern pinched her brow, and when she spoke again, her voice had softened. “These dreams – do they trouble you?”

But Thrawn held a special place in her heart ( and more importantly, her wallet ). A fellow savant of history – a connoisseur, if she would be so bold – he appreciated not just the practical artifacts, but the ones of cultural value. As an archaeologist, Aphra appreciated that these important keynotes of history were going to a loving home. And as a no-good-criminal with a mountain of debt, she appreciated that Thrawn was willing to pay. 

“I got a few things I’ve been saving just for you,” she began, the first of which she brought to the table inside a small briefcase. “I’m sure I don’t have to tell you about project Auger. The Empire has been picking Zeffo clean. But I just so happened to have gotten there first.” No small amount of pride colored her voice as she popped open the case to reveal a plush, velvet interior. Resting upon the red fabric was a collection of stone carvings, strung together by a delicate, twine-like material. With her usual fair, she presented, “A genuine Zeffo windchime, entombed with the first of their great sages, Eilram.”

It was not a surrounding of lush, green plants that she saw, but the earthy, muted tones of a savannah. No longer did she hear the rippling of clear ponds and waterfalls, but the quiet rustling of tall grasses. No two Jedi ever saw the force the same way, and this was how it presented to her: like the wide, open plains of Shili, stretching as far as Shaak Ti could see. After several long moments of contemplative silence, she opened her eyes to fine Lexa in deep concentration. Her body had gone still, save for the steady inhale and exhale of breaths. Good.

Gently, she prompted, “Tell me what you see, Padawan.”

Maybe she had to explain it slowly.

A tiny tongue stuck out in concentration as she carefully sculpted piles of fine grains into the rough outline of a person; scattered around her were shells, branches, pieces of broken bone that were to make the details. Once she got the thing to stand upright, that is. Her face fell as all her hard work collapsed again, and her lip jutted out in a pout as she turned to the Shinigami.

There was only so much of that ominous breathing Aphra could stand before she began to fill the silence with mindless chatter. “I hope we’re going somewhere a little more scenic this time,” she said, dutifully punching in the coordinates Vader provided into the hyperdrive. “I hear Gatalenta is beautiful this time of year. And you can never go wrong with Naboo-” Her face fell considerably when their map zero’ed in on the outer rim instead, to a little dustball planet of no repute. “...Or not…” 

Still, she knew better than to complain. Too much, anyway. The stars stretched into the thin blue lines as Aphra plopped into the pilot’s seat, that creepy, unsettling – and dare she say, threatening – breathing keeping pace just behind her.

“So, uh, what are we looking for, Boss? Is it rebels?” She allowed herself to hope, just a little, and excitement crept into her voice. “Something shiny?”

Hs mere presence seemed to dull the golden sheen that sparkled at the ends of her nails, and Domina made a mental note to schedule herself a new polish once she and Lapin had the room to themselves. But for the time being, she dismissed her guards and attendants with a wave of her hand, and finally graced this ‘Starlord’ with the full weight of her gaze. 

“Would you by chance consider money another passion of yours, Mr. Quill?” In one fluid motion, she sank into the chair at her desk, and offered him the other. “I’ve heard that you bear little love for the ravangers.” Regrettably, she had to admit they had something in common in that regard. She steepled her hands, and continued, “Yet an intimate knowledge of their factions.”

𝚃𝙷𝙾𝚄𝙶𝙷 𝙿𝙾𝙻𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙲𝚂 𝙷𝙰𝙳 𝙽𝙴𝚅𝙴𝚁 𝙱𝙴𝙴𝙽 her chosen arena, Shaak Ti appeared no more unnerved as the Chancellor’s honored guest as she did among the hailfire of droids. Palpatine had sought to recognize her deeds on Geonosis, Centaris, and Dagu, to name but a few; yet she had done no less than her duty as a Jedi, and so she donated her gifts - four Ch’hala saplings - to the Jedi Temple. They would find a home here, casting cool pools of shade on generations of padawan to come.

The formalities concluded, senators and Jedi alike were left to mingle in the temple’s gardens. Even delegates from the council of neutral systems were in attendance, and it wasn’t long into the evening that she found herself side by side with the head of Mandalore. After a few minutes of pleasantries ( and more than a few sips of glowwine ),  the Duchess gestured to a Jedi dozing beneath the leaves of the Uneti tree.

“Is he alright…?” 

Amusement hummed in her throat. “Master Sinube? Oh yes, he is quite alright.” From a distance he looked a frail, old thing, kept standing only by the sturdy support of his walking stick. But as it was in many things, looks could be deceiving. “He would have you think he’s grown sluggish in his old age, but it’s among most padawans' first lessons that he is not to be underestimated. It wasn’t even a month ago that he brought down a syndicate on the lower levels. I imagine he is listening to us even now.” As if in confirmation, she watched Sinube’s lips twitch into a smile, before he appeared to jolt awake with a loud snort. Shaak Ti raised her glass towards him in a toast, smiling all the while.

PERSONALITY

patient and wise, shaak ti is by all appearances a model jedi. of few words, she prefers to listen before making her opinions known, and is often reflective of the problems facing the jedi and the galaxy at large. she places an extreme emphasis on unity — a by product of her species pack like nature. the togruta of shili commune deeply with nature, and shaak ti views the laws of nature — such as survival of the fittest, adaptability, and the circle of life and death — and the will of the force as one and the same. she believes that everyone must do their part for the greater whole.

while she prefers to solve her problems with words when possible, she is not adverse to acting when necessary. time and time again she is seen to act swiftly and decisively. in keeping with the ways of the order, she puts her emotions aside when making these decisions, even in the face of one such as her padawan’s killer. after the fall of the order she seeks not revenge, allowing the force to guide her forward.

HISTORY

following in traditions unbroken for millennia, shaak ti was taken to the jedi temple upon being identified as force sensitive. there she was raised, taught as a padawan, and eventually attained the rank of master. over the course of her career she trained two learners of her own, both who died shortly upon attaining the rank of knighthood. though she mourned their passings, she did not linger on the grief. even so, she resolved not to take another learner, instead serving as a consular and diplomat in the years leading up to the clone wars.

a participant in the battle of geonosis, she was there at its start and participated in many battles afterwards, including the battle of kamino where she was stationed. elevated to general in the grand army of the republic, she oversaw the production and training of the gar clones until she was called back to coruscant.

following order sixty-six and the fall of the jedi, shaak ti goes into hiding on the planet of felucia. there she acts as a beacon of light among the ambient darkside.

from there, she eventually joins the rebellion after the destruction of the death star, acting as a pilot, healer, or in any other capacity they may require. only leia, and in time luke, know of her history and true identity.

WISHLIST

JEDI COUNCIL: these are the people Shaak Ti is closest with, having spent a majority of the clone wars on the council herself. i would love to develop deeper bonds with her fellow jedi masters.

CLONES: having been stationed in kamino, she spent a considerable time among the clones and regards them all as unique souls in their own right. she remembers each of their names and trials.

LUMINARA: my preferred ship for shaak ti. having lost padawans of her own, i believe she could sympathize with luminara. the two share a similar demeanor as well, and would make an excellent team. hmu if you're interested in exploring this dynamic!

𝙰𝚁𝚁𝙸𝚅𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙸𝙽 𝙸𝚂𝙷𝙶𝙰𝚁𝙳'𝚂 Aetheryte Plaza was akin to throwing herself into freezing cold water. No matter how long passed, it robbed her of her breath every time that wall of icy air washed over her. Eydis shuddered, and took a moment to readjust the bundle under her arms before she set out for the machinist's guild. 

She heard the building long before it came into view. It began with a low hum, interrupted now and then by the discordant sound of banging that set her ears twitching. Inside was even louder than she anticipated — the stench of grease and oil only added to the suffocating atmosphere. No one looked up when the doors closed behind her. Awkward and unsure, she shifted her weight from foot to foot, then picked one of the machinists to approach at random. 

“Excuse me…?” When that failed to gain their attention, she allowed the package in her arms to fall to the ground, where it landed with a bang loud enough to cut through the cacophony. 

“The Ironworks said someone here could help us with this,” she said, nudging the curious hunk of metal with the tip of her boot. “Got a moment to spare?”

The Acquisitor’s gardens were meant to be a tranquil place, a space for meditation, but even within the peace of that verdant chamber her mind was elsewhere: the mining strikes on the Kashk Lunar Company, disputes within Tagge Corporation on the this quarter’s budget – every little task left to do buzzed in the back of her mind like an irritated fly. Yet she had pushed them all aside for the sake of her most loyal customer, and their representative for today. 

“As you know, Director, Tagge corporation is more than happy to pivot our engineers toward the Empire’s latest needs,” she began, pausing to sip from a cup of tea laid out on the table before them. “We have a vast array of technology in development that may be beneficial toward your…special project.” 

“However, you must understand that we cannot build upon such a vague foundation.” She had yet to even hear even a name for their newest enterprise, a project so massive that it sent ripples through her trade routes. Entire economies had been bent toward the gravity of some massive, unknown undertaking, and it was more than simple practicality that Domina sought out answers: it irked her that even their most entrenched spies could not provide details. Her cup returned to the saucer with a sharp click, and she leveled the full weight of her gaze toward Krennic.

“Simply put: we need more details.”

His fingers had curled around the delicate column of her neck a time and a half, and with a single squeeze he shattered the bones beneath his palm. Now, that really could have been the end of her - but like the rest of them, he just couldn’t help it. He just had to dig his nails into her flesh, had to see the blood underneath for himself. And that was all the Zombie needed for the last laugh. Still giggling, Giselle forced her head back into its rightful place with an audible snap.
