oh well. oh well it's his turn now isn't it.

(Warnings for descrptions of physical violence, toxic relationship dynamics andddd I don't even know how to describe this one, but uh. Just know that Kei is doing really bad mentally. Also that one bit about him making Yurika angry with his creepy behavior is mentioned again.)

General info.

T1 Verdict: Kei was voted guilty and was punished for his crime (even though Eiji and Miki still don't know why he's even here). His punishment was physical, just like Akio's, and now it's very hard for him to walk and he needs other prisoners' help, his arms are too weak and they're in constant pain, so he also needs other people to hold things for him sometimes. He's also got an eye injury and this is why he's wearing an eyepatch now. It's hard to say how serious that injury is, since Kei still can see some things, but he feels like he won't be able to see with that eye anymore if he doesn't get any help. He's also wearing a mask now to cover the lower half of his face and some prisoners find it weird that he would go that far to hide a few cuts on his face, however, he actually would love to wear a mask to hide his whole face and not just his mouth and nose and that's because his punishment had not only a physical effect on him, but a mental one too. Kei now finds himself embarrassing because of how weak and "pathetic" he looks and he doesn't want people to see him in that state. Sure, making people feel bad for him sounds fun in theory, but now that he's in actual danger, he's terrified and doesn't want people to think that it's his real self. He's too used to being the one in control and now that he's the one who's suffering (and because of his younger brother too!), he doesn't know what to do. And also, Kei is aware that he's not a good person. He knows it. And he always thought that his appearance was his only good quality. As long as he's at least somewhat good-looking, people will like him, right?.. But now that there's a chance of Eiji even taking that away from him, he's scared. Eiji also broke his sunglasses man, can't you let him have at least something?, but Kei still wears them because they're that important to him. His hair is also longer and more messy now and he wishes he could take care of it, but he doesn't have the energy to do that and it's hard to do anything when your body hurts so much.

T2 Personality: Kei still tries to act like his past self even though he's in so much pain right now. He still tries to make jokes, to act cool, to be the most fun and outgoing prisoner here, but it's hard. Even just smiling is too painful for him now. He also has to accept the fact that there's a chance that he won't be able to see with one of his eyes anymore. Because of all of that, his mood swings are much worse now and he's actually showing a different, more weak and vulnerable side of him, but not in the way that you'd probably expect. When something like that happens, he starts begging Eiji for help and asks him to protect him and even refers to Eiji as an older brother. He also starts saying things like "I want to go home" or "I want to see Mom again". He actually needs someone to help him calm down, because his tantrums are sometimes so bad, some prisoners think he will end up hurting someone one day. What's even more scary is that after he's done, Kei acts like nothing happened and still tries to act like his T1 self, though it's obvious he's not as energetic as he was before. 

T2 Relationship dynamics:

Kei really wishes Shun would just leave him alone, but at the same time, he really needs someone to talk to. Sure, thankfully, he has Reina now, but he also needs someone who.. well, will be more than just a friend to him? So yes, he still talks to Shun because he wants attention from him and he wants to feel like he still deserves to be loved and he's still attractive even though his hair is a mess, his sunglasses are broken, he has an eye injury and he can't even leave his cell without anyone's help. And Shun is more than happy to use Kei's insecurities and make him feel like Shun is the only person in this prison who gets him and who will accept him no matter what happens to him. Shun is also more than happy to remind Kei that Shun has more power in this prison now because of his verdict, so if Kei makes even a small mistake, he will regret it. Kei really tries to avoid him, but at the same time he still ends up coming back to him.

Eiko is a bit better than Shun, but still treats Kei badly and she obviously enjoys seeing him in this state. She's more gentle with him, but if anything bad happened to him, she wouldn't even try to help him. And also, Kei knows exactly why she's treating him like this. Eiko never meant anything important to him and he never wanted to have an actual deep relationship with her, so why does she have to act nice now and treat him with kindness? She knows that if something like that happened to her, Kei would treat her even worse and he would find it exciting, so maybe people should stop hoping that she will be nicer to him? It doesn't help that she knows everything about his insecurities, so if he says anything wrong, she just reminds him that if he ever gets out of this prison, he won't hear anyone saying that he's pretty or hot anytime soon. What's really sad is that she actually thinks Kei still looks cute, she just wants him to think otherwise and keep asking her to give him more attention. There's also another reason why their relationship is like that now and Kei knows about it too.. But he can't do much to change it.

Kei is still alive and that fact makes Yurika so sad. Yes, Kei actually did make weird comments about her, so she had an understandable reason to attack him. Kei is still scared of her, but now that other people can also see that Yurika is not as innocent literally as she wanted them to see her, it does make him a bit happy. He can't deny that he's still attracted to her though, considering that he was brave enough to say something that made her so mad that if she got a chance to kill him, she would. 

Kei and Reina's relationship is surprisingly wholesome and Kei actually sees her only as a friend and honestly, she's probably the first real friend he ever had. They get along well because they have a lot of similarities, the main one being them trying to hide their real personalities. Both of them know they don't have to pretend when they're in each other's company, so Kei knows a lot about Reina now and Reina knows a lot about Kei (including their crimes). And yes, Reina knows about his relationship with Eiji too, but she still wants to be friends with him. Maybe she sees it as another similarity. She actually tries to protect him from Shun and Eiko and she uses her innocent verdict to request all kinds of things so that she can take care of him. 

Kei and Eiji's relationship is even more complicated now, even though Eiji finally got what he wanted (or at least a part of it) and punished Kei. Obviously, Kei is angry at him, but he also understands Eiji's feelings and now he has another reason to say that Eiji is just like him no matter how much he tries to be better. And also, Kei still wants Eiji to protect him, just like he used to when they were younger and if he's feeling anxious or panicking, he asks Eiji for help. Eiji tries his best to ignore him, but in a very sad and dark kind of way, he still cares about the guy who abused him both physically and emotionally, so if no one is looking, he will try to calm Kei down and make sure he's okay. He says he's just doing it so that Kei doesn't die before his execution, but it's an obvious lie.

But I don't think it would be that fun to listen to and I actually imagine his version to sound like he's having a really bad breakdown, the chorus in particular would sound like he's crying. The instrumental would also sound more slow and distorted.

Trivia:

Reina actually wanted to ask for something that could help Kei walk easier, similar to Yuno getting a wheelchair for Mahiru, but Kei refused and said that he's fine. Reina thinks he just doesn't want to admit that he really is struggling and needs help.

Kei's second image color was actually supposed to be a bright shade of purple at first, but I changed it to blue because of his MV's color symbolism and themes. Also, his T1 album cover would most likely have a gradient similar to bi flag which is a plus, haha. (And his T2 MV also has lots of pink, purple and blue too.)

Kei actually tries not to leave his cell that often and because of that, he doesn't always get to eat with the other prisoners, which is obviously not good. Reina is usually the one who brings him food in that case, but sometimes it's Eiji, though he does it only when it's late and (mostly) everyone is asleep.

He doesn't know if it's okay for him to hope that he will be forgiven this time. Actually, he's not sure if he even wants to be forgiven, because, uh.. If Eiji and Miki find out more about his crime and end up forgiving him, that will mean they saw him as someone who's weak and who can't protect himself. That's also the reason why he still refuses to talk about his murder.

I just think it's ironic how his T1 cover was After Pain and it was like him trying to make people feel sorry for him and vote him innocent, but now that he's actually in pain, he's not sure if he wants to be seen as weak and be forgiven because of that.

His mask is actually a reference to "Vampire" Miku's mask (and he also had that song as his T1 cover)! Same goes for the bandaids on his neck. 

Some of the accessories he wore before T2 are missing now (like his necklace or that thing with hearts on his belt) because they either got lost or broken after his punishment.

The Venus Nakshatras 🍓

Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Purva Ashadha

Hi all, I've been gone for sometime now but I thought I may as well post something from my drafts. Hope you all enjoy! 💕

Sukra (Venus) ♀

Sukra is the Hindu God who is known as planet Venus. He not only rules over the signs of Taurus and Libra, but also the nakshatras; Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha. The word Sukra translates to 'bright' or 'clear', as Venus is literally the most visible planet during night fall, bright, glimmering and illuminated. For this reason planet Sukra indicates all that we desire in life; wealth, material pleasure, love, relationships, beauty and art. All that Venus represents is inherently feminine, beautiful and attractive to us.

Sukra's rulership over Taurus and Libra expresses his desirability in two very keystone ways. Taurus indicates materialism, wealth and sensuality. Whereas Libra indicates love, balance, relationships and beauty. On the other hand, the Venus ruled Nakshatras divide themselves into a more in-depth understanding of Venus.

Sukra was entwined within the two worlds of the Devas and Asuras (Gods and Demons). He was considered the Guru of the Asuras (Teacher of the Demons), yet held strong relations with the Devas, specifically Lord Shiva (The Destroyer).

As Venus represents all that we could desire in life, he therefore is who naturally inspires demonic energy. Although being considered a planet rich in positive and beneficial qualities himself, the negative side of Sukra relates to such sayings as; Desire is the root of suffering or Beauty is pain. Venus is inherently situated on this polarity. All the things that Sukra represents has potential to bring out the worst in an individual, it is important that we don't ignore this fact, rather than simply become mesmerised by his immense beauty and desirability.

One story told depicts Sukra residing within the stomach of Lord Shiva (The Destroyer), meditating for a thousand years. Sukra was later ejected out into the world by the force of Lord Shiva.

Unbeknownst to me as to how Sukra ended up in the pit of Shiva's stomach, I find this story deeply symbolic of Venus. Sukra did not experience this grant of emission into the world by any such Deva, it was Shiva, God of Destruction. This is why the Venus Nakshatras embody fierceness, rather than a quality rooted in tenderness or softness. Ejection is an act that is forceful in nature too, solidifying our understanding that Venus has some inherent magnetism and strength.

Fire and Fierceness

All of the Venus Nakshatras are considered to possess a fierce quality. Fierceness carries with it themes of destruction, fire and confrontations. Fittingly, these nakshatras are all located within the heart of the fire signs, Aries, Sagittarius and Leo. Fire signs are of course the most passionate, intense and energetic celestial locations of the zodiac.

🍷 Bharani Nakshatra

Sign: Aries, Symbol: Vulva, Deity: Yama (God of death)

Bharani is the most intense of the Venus Nakshatras, unsurprisingly so, as Aries being ruled by Mars garners the most potent manifestation of the fire signs. The word Bharani translates to "bearing children", indicating that this nakshatra is that of heaviness, suffering, beauty, transformation and fertility. Understanding this, the symbol of a vulva representing Bharani is needless to say relating to very similar themes, yet additionally, apparent feminine sexual potency.

Yama (God of Death) ruling over this nakshatra deepens the relations Bharani holds with transformation and depth. This nakshatra is intense and fear inducing - beyond what can be comprehensively measured. Bharani resembles best the polarity of life and death, mortality is what essentially ignites our carnal motive to create life.

🍷 Purva Phalguni Nakshatra

Sign: Leo, Symbol: Bed, Deity: Bhaga (God of Love and Marriage)

The word Purva Phalguni translates to "the first reddish lady". The term reddish lady simply means a fertile woman. It is a given that Purva Phalguni nakshatra relates immensely to sexual and romantic pleasures. Considering this nakshatra is the first sequence of 'Phalguni', it carries with it an initiating tone - both inviting and alluring. As Purva Phalguni is symbolised by a bed, this nakshatra deepens it's roots within the realms of sexual pleasure and recreation. Beds are also associated with structure and stability, being which a small key when understanding the nature of Purva Phalguni.

Bhaga (God of Love and Marriage) ruling over this nakshatra deepens it's ties with not only the pleasure received by the outcome of love, but also commitment. All that love has to offer within committed relationships is inherently of the purpose to be stable and abundantly pleasurable.

🍷 Purva Ashadha Nakshatra

Sign: Sagittarius, Symbol: Elephant Tusk and Fan, Deity: Apas (Goddess of Water)

Purva Ashadha translates to the "the first invincible one". This nakshatra relates to a force of impenetrable strength, yet not in a masculine way, Purva Ashadha bridges the tie between strength is the kind that is effortless, fluid and feminine.

Although Purva Ashadha is strong, as signified by the elephant tusk, it is also symbolised by a fan. This is the last of the Venus Nakshatras, where the immense heat of Aries and Leo has metaphorically cooled from the heat bestowed from Mars and Sun. Jupiter is not as hot and harsh as these previous planets, so to say that Venus has cooled off and matured in a sense is understandable.

Apas (Goddess of Water) ruling over this nakshatra creates a dynamic nature of both force and fluidity. She is of course the most feminine of deities to rule over the Venus Nakshatras. Purva Ashadha does not only embody strength and stability, this nakshatra is attuned deeply with emotion, beauty, softness and moisture.

hi i'm in the mood to infodump and i almost started typing something that is a very big spoiler to the second timeline so instead i'll talk about something that we already know which is. sanada brothers' relationship.

so i think i haven't talked about any of the possible t3 covers (except mentioning yurika's deco cover on my main) but like. yes i've said it before and i'll say it again rabbit girl outfit kei will be real in like. a few months probably. i mean i've drawn him before so he's already kinda real

HOWEVER what i didn't mention is that i was thinking of giving him mozaik role as his possible guilty cover! but then he got absolutely hit by that innosweep so yeah. no kei mozaik role.

but i listened to it again earlier and i was like. hold on. hold on. these lyrics are. kinda kei AND eiji coded.

obviously, it would have a more platonic meaning in this case (it's so hard to work with deco's songs sometimes, it's like i KNOW pretty much all of his songs are about romance and i'm like. b-but what if i need something different..), but like. look at this. please stay in this space with me.

so, let's point out some of the kei-coded lyrics.

"i compared the fluid that leaked out of the wound to love". YEAH. yeah, this is kei with his "pain means love btw <3" beliefs. if you're wondering how and why did he even start to think so, in his first interrogation he says that it's what eiji and kei's mother always used to say and i overall kinda tried to imply that he's VERY attached to his mom. (i am planning to make a post about her and eiko's mother soon!)

"you gave me a sweet lie that "it's okay to be a coward", have i been able to escape?" even though eiji is the younger brother, he's the one who always protected kei from other people and kei is actually very dependent on him, i mean, he literally calls him his older brother sometimes. "wait who did he have to protect kei from" first of all, this hasn't really been talked about before, but i think it's easy to guess that kei always kinda had this weird kid kind of reputation. which would lead to. yeah. bullying. and also.. um. mrs sanada believed that pain means love and kei also thinks that she loved him more than she loved eiji. i think that's enough information. (it also should be mentioned that right now eiji is 19 and kei is 25 and the age difference is actually quite big, which means that when 16 y/o kei was in trouble, A LITERAL 10 YEAR OLD TRIED TO PROTECT HIM. AND KEI CALLED HIM HIS OLDER BROTHER EVEN THEN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY EIJI IS LIKE THIS NOW.)

"what's wrong with killing me, me who you hate" well. i think we all know this. no matter how much eiji says that he hates kei, no matter how messed up their relationship is and no matter how badly kei treated (and still does) him, eiji simply wouldn't be able to actually kill him. yes, he punished and tortured him, but he wouldn't be brave enough to actually sentence him to death.

now, about eiji-coded lyrics.

"i will be sick of you by the end of this", "i will drink up all the tears that you gave me". pretty self-explanatory, but the second one can also refer to the fact that even though eiji does recognize that the way kei treated him was abusive and unhealthy, he still can't let him go for some reason, so sadly, he will just continue to ruin himself while claiming that he hates him and kei deserves to die and also visiting him and checking up on him every day, "just because he wants to see kei in pain", yeah, sure. he cried so many tears because of kei, but he will still drink them up.

"is this called "i loved you"? where i struggle to cling to you". again. eiji, sweetie, make up your mind. this is the part of eiji and kei's relationship that is so heartbreaking to me because even though eiji himself knows how toxic their relationship is, he's still attached to kei and still cares about him. i don't know, something about him still trying to take care of kei who abused him both physically and emotionally and believing that kei still needs him (and he's not wrong) is so. 😔😔😔

and the lyrics that fit both of them!

"and yet, i love you", "what's wrong with me loving you, bound together, so nobody can touch you" these two are so codependent, it's scary. and actually, i SHOULD talk more about how much these two depend on each other because if you think about it, both kei and eiji try to fight for independence in their own way. kei's way of fighting is having as many relationships (that last like a week or two) as possible, almost as if saying "yes i DO get bitches, but i can easily leave them as soon as i'm bored, i am sooooo cool" and doing illegal and creepy things such as. yeah. literally taking pics of people being tortured for money and his own personal amusement, like he's saying "aren't i so cool for doing this. aren't you afraid of me. please say that you are, give me a reason to feel like i'm in control here". meanwhile eiji not only hates criminals because he associates them with kei, but he also punishes them in the worst ways possible and enjoys it because he wants to feel like he can do something himself, without anyone's help, and he wants to prove that he's strong. look at him, a 16 y/o kid got a horrible head injury because of him and it's possible that he will die soon! eiji is so strong, isn't he? he even had enough courage to punish his own brother, who already had scars and was afraid of eiji touching him! he also forced yurika to relive the days of being a maid even though she hated every second of it! w-what do you mean, that's.. bad?

so yeah, both sanada brothers just want to be seen as cool and mature and be treated like adults, except they.. don't even know what being an adult is like. their mother is a toymaker who was basically a child pretending to be a grown-up, eiji was forced to become an older brother figure even before he went to middle school, kei literally sees everything through rose-colored glasses, eiji believes that violence is the only way to show that he's stronger than others and kei tends to unconsciously age regress when he's panicking or in an unsafe situation. yeah, these two want to and will beat each other up. and yes, they love each other in the most twisted way.

"this is fate as well, it will disappear, disappear, our world of love" SO U H . i feel like if i say anything, it will be a spoiler, so let me just say this. both sanada brothers were/are/will lose something that feels like home to them. kei misses ruka and he committed his crime exactly because his world started to fall apart and he started to think that ruka will be taken away from him (surprisingly, he actually did it not in a yandere way and it wasn't really a result of obsession, but him realizing that he cares about him. after all, he did say in his first interrogation that "he thinks he really did love that person".). and we know that all of this is going to end one day, but we don't know what is going to happen to the guards after their job is done. and considering that eiji finally feels like he has found what he was made for and what he likes to do.. yeah. yeah, it's possible that his world is going to disappear as well.
