I was tagged by @glamfellens​ for this very cool reflection challenge! This is a super fun one, thank you for tagging me!

Rules: Share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.). Then, tag five more people to share the things they’ve made.

1) Something you absolutely adore

Dimitri and Byleth is such a tender pair for me, and I'm a really big fan of the softness of this piece 🥺 Plus, since it's a redraw, I really enjoy it as a marker of my artistic improvement 💗

2) Something that was challenging to create

This one had a lot going on before I made the decision to render it in a lineless style. Posing four characters full bodies, having them interact with each other believably, creating appealing and in-character post-canon designs, having dynamic lighting... and then when I was almost done I had thought of "what if I tried that rendering thing I see other artists do" which added another solid two days to the time spent on this piece 😅 In my humble opinion, though, it was worth it, and I still consider this one of my most impressive pieces!

3) Something that makes you laugh/smile

I drew this little series off the heels of my New Year's resolution to "draw more silly", which I was struggling with bc the first one was def supposed to be a little goofier, but it actually came out looking very serene. And then one morning my dog jumped into my bed and woke me up by sitting on my face 😂 It reminded me a lot of Declan the Mabari and I wondered how Fenris would take to a dog sitting on him in the morning haha

4) Something that surprised you

I still look at this one some times and am just like,,,, bro how did I do that. I think it's like one of my Top 3 kisses I've drawn, and I'm still shocked at how good the colors came out (I've actually come to the realization with this that black hair is really fun to color in bright environments bc it's so reflective 👀)

5) Something you want other people to see

A pretty recent one, but one I'm really really proud of! The BG3 brainrot is real :')

3. Your fav drawing style(s)

i feel like such a hypocrite for saying i really like doing lineless stuff now. like who am i. i KNOW i said i hated doing lineart but i didn't know not doing it would be like my new fav thing ever. it seems like common sense but this stumps me!!!

5. Your proudest artwork

I HAVE MORE OF THESE... RECENTLY... i think... but i really really really love this one. like damn what did i eat over the course of that 3 days that made me draw so good wtf

24. Fav colour palette

IT DEPENDS ON THE STYLE... i am super in love with low saturation pastels if i'm not working with lines (and in general honestly...) but if i go the other direction and do thick lines it's All About The Eyestrain! i just don't have a go-to unfortunately (?)

Inktober 2022: A reflection

This year I did Luna ‘s (who is an amazing artist!! Check them out on Twitter!!) Inktober. Spoiler, I did not do all the days as I got sick halfway through and then just stopped lol. However, it was remarkable good practice and I learned a lot! One might say you can see me improving 👀 It gets better, promise!

1. Sprout

yes this is bdubs fanart, (I’ll do a separate post with the fandom one and tag them there) Also learned about gradient maps!

2. Ladder

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to render stone, and it really shows

I do not dislike this one, however Clip Studio Paint's weird artistic render line feature really stole the show here lol

4. Investigation

Played with gradient maps again. The color is sure something!

5. Rosemary

At this point, I was wondering if a completely lineless painting style was something I even like? And honestly it has its appeals, and I think ill keep playing with it, but I missed having lines.

Bdubs fanart again, but look at him, he's just a little guy! Very much based on countless designs I’ve seen all over. (if you know the OG lemme know) Certified creature.

12. Worth

I don't like this one... The concept is there, but the execution is sloppy and kinda off-putting. The only thing I kinda like it the blood at the very top opening.

I love this very much not anatomically correct baby!!!

15. Zodiac

I’m torn bc on one hand the background is stunning, I love the colors. On the other hand, this would have looked too much better lineless, and the lens sky reflection is just lazy and doesn't fit with the rest of the style.

16. Evolution

GHOST CRAB!! I downloaded some new brushes, and it was just sooo much fun. 

17. Meadow

I really like everything except the “flowers”. The clouds and background/foundation is solid, but the weird flower brush is too sharp and it just doesn't work. Also, the colors of the flowers are supposed to be in shade and idk man 

18. Examination

Now this one could make more sense, like perspective wise and the highlights are a bit wack. However, it's really cool and I like it a lot. The bluish tint for the glass, the goldish bronze, the background yes!!

19. Reflection

The poses for this kept just not working out. I couldn't get the angles, nothing made sense, so I made them silhouettes! And it works nicely. I like this one. I am kinda starting to overuse that background contrast thingy, but it's fiiiiiinnnne. Also, the curtain??? The red pops so well hello, its just bam, and it deserves to do that. 

20. Bullet

It's a bullet train! Get it? Anyway, I really like the burn effect for this one and I wanted to make it a spooky train. One thing I'd improve is how the likes are fading into the smoke, it doesn't look quite right.

22. Bones

This is kinda my burnout point and it shows. The line thickness is all over the place, I didn't work on this very much and just slapped some things on there and put it up. I'd love to draw a proper pile of bones someday, but this wasn't it.

23. Mutation

I do kinda like this one, and I don't have any major complaints. I just remember not really feeling doing Art™ at that time.

29. Wyvern

I sketched this the next day and was so normal about it. Idk if this is really a Wyvern, but it looks cool! I really like the frame and breaking it. It gives a nice break and depth!

I love how in your recent boss icon art, you replicated the art style of NSR! Do you have any tips?👀

I will say I've tried to do this once before (two different methods) and my most recent one hits the mark while my first attempt wasn't exactly there. Same goes for me mimicking the style in general.

In the first ones I was in my style in my comfort zone only doing things I've done before. In the second ones (the nsr au ones) I've experimented more with the way I stylized things or with how I drew them. These are only a year apart and I haven't been drawing any other nsr stuff inbetween. So it's really just a matter of method.

For the icons I seperated each component by layer (Hair , face, hat, etc) and layered them onto of one another as if they were seperate sheets of paper (face under the hair and the hair under the hat. Coat goes above face / neck. So a very good layered effect)

They icons use soft gradients and some cell shading (sparingly so)

And references will be your key. I had to go inbetween so many icon refs to figure out if it was right and even at the end I changed some things (mostly elesa's face but I had to fix some stuff on volo too).

That and the nsr icons are entirely lineless! So what I did was get the general silhouette down and then work on seperate parts of the icon until it formed into one. Vs my usual style of lineart and then colors. It's also very uh,, shaped ,, so any sort of polyline tool will be your friend (or just freeline it like I did)

obligatory inverted fate plug!! if you're okay with sprite comics then u should definitely check it out. it's a role swap (but not personality swap!) au based on asriel winning the final fight against frisk and resetting everything back to zero, but things are a bit different this time. papyrus takes a main role once he's introduced, and so does undyne. it has some excellent characterization and i think it really captures the spirit of undertale.

oh yes! i started reading it a while back, got distracted and never finished WHOOPS (ówò);;;

but i DEFINITELY enjoyed the Papyrus from that an Incredible amount. oh so very very much :>

(the only downside is that they've mentioned that gaster from that is never going to be able to come back. i admit i am WEAK lmao i just wanna see the guye doing alright and alive and Not scattered across time and space)

if sprite comics aren't your style, then i have to recommend @askglaspyrus, a fic/ask blog that handles the papyrus is gaster idea in a really interesting way. and also idk if you've read it already, but unexpected guests by @undertalethingems, a comic about papyrus and sans's blasters coming too life, and a great plot that follows, and several of their other aus which also slap.

SCREAMS. unexpected guests is literally The comic ever shdkshdkajdk yeah I've read it already. (i think u can safely assume that I've consumed most gaster blaster au content) undertalethingems is definitely one of my favorite ut content creators out there (and it's only partially because I've noticed we share a WHOLE lot of random headcanons). i love their gb au stuff (all kinds involved) and i LOVE LOVE LOVE how they draw the blasters! I've actually drawn fanart of papyrus's blaster a couple times lol. and their art style in general is so cool i love it! and it's definitely a big inspiration.

i will absolutely check out the glasses papyrus thing, i did a quick check of the blog and i am Interested 👀👀👀👀👀

in my excitement to rec you aus i forgot to tell you how much i love your art style, and how it's been an inspiration on my own! ive been a lot more confident in my lineless art nowadays and it's partially thanks to how cool your art is!
