probably a hot take but i have this wild theory that the person guiding Deathbed Companions is Marika (or at least, offering them help and shelter)

same front pattern on their dress + the only bedchamber seen in-game is Marika's + the Marika statue in Messmer's boss room is veiled in a baldachin.

i've discussed my theory that Marika's betrayal of Maliketh is that she's been on the side of TWLiD all this time and is trying to help Godwyn gain a second life here (going against the very foundation of her Order for her son), idk it just lines up so many things in the game to me.

there's also Capital Perfumers like Tricia being said to be akin to the origin of Deathbed Companion. Perfumers being a group that could only have be trained by Marika and no other (they originated from the Capital, they are originally blessed healers, they specifically use aromantics made from flowers and are always looking for new flower fields, exactly like the setting of Shaman village).

interesting enough i only knew about the front dress pattern & the bedchamber at first, it's only today i look up what a baldachin looks like & holy hell. literally fell to my knees.

Marika being the Queen of Life (in JP dialogue of Melina, her age is called 輝ける生命の時代 - Age of Glistening Life) and having so many symbolism tying her to Deathbed companions - those who embrace the dead and birth them a new glorious life. i am seeing the pattern alright.

(sth sth the lower arc of the Elden Ring is where its bounty pools as per Rune Arc item description, and in the final cutscene of the game we can see the lower arc is literally in the position of Marika's womb and it's where Godwyn's mending rune is returned to)

am i about to experience a Brand New Episode of Supernatural in the year of our lord 2025??!!? why yes i am. because....get this, i never actually watched Season 3 Episode 13 Ghostfacers before. Yes you heard that right. Yes, I know, wtf, Vic?!? Well, you see, a long time ago in December 2020 I was in such a mad dash to get through seasons 1 -3 to get to 4x01 and the destiel of it all that I thought, pshhh this is a filler ep, we can skip it. And then later I learned, no no Ghostfacers is an iconic ep. But I was like, oh I'll circle back to it eventually. Well, friends, I have adhd and "circle back to it eventually" is a doomed phrase. And now it's 2025 and we've reached 3x13 on my rewatch so, it is Time! i am very excited.

i think iron is the only master who could fulfill veils' need for Combat Enrichment™ (enrichment via combat) and probably even go toe-to-toe with it without getting instantly obliterated by mr "apex predator for other predators" fabricguy itself. however veils doesn't like fighting iron because iron is extremely no-nonsense and doesn't put up with veils' shit so whenever it tries to start its typical homoerotic prey vs predator banter iron just stabs it and walks away without indulging its nonsense. like veils is coming to the sparring ring for the thrill of battle and iron is coming to the sparring ring for Winning The Match and they're just completely incompatible despite matching each other's battle competency freaks and it pisses both of them off. this is the reason for at least 5% of the vake's vakery btw

Space Age takes a different stab at Jonathan and Martha as parents, in a way that I think is very interesting. Jonathan is portrayed as critical of Clark (for a reason, but), and there's a panel after his death of Clark and Jon:

Space Age is a comic set in one of the worlds culled during Crisis on Infinite Earths, but I'm always interested in the different ways comics portray Jonathan and Martha Kent because of their status as kind of the perfect parents. But it's interesting to consider and explore the ways Clark's upbringing also effects him in more complicated ways.

This is honestly one of the most insightful things anyone's yet to say about Solas in-game, and not entirely for the reason they seem to be implying. "Sentimental" I guess works, but it more demonstrates how Solas struggles to see others as actual people he should care about. When Varric said people were dying as a result of his ritual Solas' rebuttal was that dying is what people do. It's inevitable and not his problem. What's the lives of others in comparison to his personal ideals of what the world should be?

In the same way the show isn't referencing Hilary Duff and other outdated pop music that was mentioned in the book (i.e. playing Dua Lipa in the lotus Casino instead), I doubt this version of Thalia would be listening to Greenday in 2023 (or whatever era the show is supposed to exist in).
