I haven't seen your oc's yet! Who are they, do they have reffs? 👀 How many do you have?
RAAAAAAAGH MY OCS MY BELOVED BELOVED PRECIOUS LITTLE GEMS
yeah I have a few there and there, plan on making more sometime
first we have pallea whom I desperatley need to draw more since shes one of my faves and she gonna stick around the most, Im gonna be honest prepare to see more of her, she's a bit of a trickster, always trying to get on everyones nerves and only geniuenly succeding on mickey, they have a bit going on between them and like I said I need to post more abt my girl TOT
pallea my beloved, also just throwing it out there, I did NOT name her after pellea the dish I did not even know that existed before making her I remember I was naming her the same way I name alot of my ocs when they dont have irl names and I just took two words and smashed them together, I also wanted a character to have word PAL in the name for puns, I didn NOT name her after the food TOT
then we have my another very beloved oc RAMONA LOSALL
when it comes to her I accualy don't wanna post too much abt her bc shes exclusive for a project I am not even NEAR touching anytime soon simply to not work on whole 4 big projects at the same time like that would just straight up kill me lmao, but she beasictly starts out as a femme fatale untill it turns out shes as good of a detective as mickey and the two of them get into some cases together
designing her was really fun and I am SO proud of how she turned out, I've been meaning to draw more characters in the rubberhose style that fits in with mickey and others that does have more unique features since I am one of the very few people who accualy do mind the same face on every mouse character that isnt just a big snout, shes got much much smaller and in head ears, her eyes are highlighted and big also her pupils are square and my fav her snout is in a diff shape its curved up and goes more thin as it ends that is that one design i am SO proud of omg
also fun fact, she accualy started out as a redesign of ingrid from old mickey comics but writing just kept going and going and redesign was redesigning
then we have "elenor"e exe.24 who guess what were just calling elenore, I don't have that much drawings of her and I NEED to redesign her...again bc I dont like how her body turned out as in its not rubberhose enough imo
ofc my art doesnt do full on noodle hands and thin arms and legs and stuff but it never went on the level where I was like "hm looks like my normal human build" untill it came to drawing her, the issue with the rubberhose style is that you will have just awful time while trying to design a curvy character , anyways shes a robot and I can see that you can see that shes inspired by mimi the pin up girl like shes in the photo i can see that you see but ye just like ramona she started out as a redesign of an already existing character in this case mimi and things got out of hand again, she's apart of the "neon city" and works in the entertainer industry [while activley fucking up the entire system when no ones looking]
then we have amelia who's in something im accualy working on right now so im not gonna tell you much abt her character and will more focus on her design
shes a weasel! her design was my attempt at using shape language more in my art witch i think you can obviously see since shes beasicly a one giant triangle with soft outsides, I tried my best to give her light colors that don't melt together too much and Hopefuly succeded TOT
but I can tell you she would either instantly choke sylvester shyster to death or would sing him lullabies to bed and theres no inbetween
ignore my minor highlighting mistake
making this post made me realize I have no drawing of the bear workers outside of this witch makes me heartbroken im so sorry, but long story short there construction workers who ended up working for sylvester while hoping someone litellary anyone else is willing to hire them so they can leave that weird rat man alone and behind them
[thats just one of them but theres arounf 6 and there all diffrent types of bears I just have the bear one down like I said I need to draw more of them omg]
I have few more but I just don't have their drawing on my laptop and also there not as important as the ones above and I don't have as much to say abt them since there still in baking stage
Exept Riots/roxane shes still being baked despite having a design for like few months by now, I don't have much to say abt her exept the fact im also proud of her design I just like it alot and wanna show off despite bad quality
but THANK YOU SM FOR THE ASK OH MY GOD I'VE NEVER BEEN ASKED ABOUT MY OCS BEFORE AAHHHH THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!! <3<3<3<3<3<3
#ocs#ocs talk#oc#oc art#ask#ask box#THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!! <3<3<3<3#now onto tagging all of them or at least the ones with stable names!#pallea purpur#ramona losall#the bear workers#polar bear worker#amelia westcel#“Elenor”e exe.24#to tag later#good grief I NEED to draw more bear workers JESUS

I have a 100 year old book!
This is part "look at this cool thing i got!!" and part "If you know anything about old books, please help me out, I do not know how to take care of this properly and i am scared of damaging it"
The other day I went with my mom to an antiques shop where she had an appointment to sell some old clothes we'd gotten from my grandma. While she was talking to the shop owner, I wandered around the shop and found a shelf of old books.
One of them caught my eye. It looked very old, in a charming way, like a book I usually wouldn't be allowed to touch but had always wanted to. It was sandwiched between some much more modern books with glossy covers. I pulled it off the shelf and opened it very gently, because the spine looked a little damaged.
It was an English translation of two French plays, "Pelleas and Melisanda" and "The Sightless," by Maurice Maeterlinck. I flipped to the front and read the first page, which was a translator's note:

Transcription:
To the reader. The following translations were undertaken for a twofold reason, and that a selfish one: because it is joy to live awhile very close to the thought of another, when that other is a light-giver: because it is joy to place within the reach of certain of one's fellows what one believes to be admirable and good. Yet, in offering to those who have not read the original, an English version of two of Maurice Maeterlinck's plays, I feel as one that, having marvelled at a rose in the garden, should poorly fashion its image in paper to give to his friend. —I should have preferred to place the volume in your hands without so much as a word of apology for its many obvious and more or less inevitable shortcomings; but the laws of the "Scott Library" forbid the silence I desire, and oblige me to add a few prefactory words.
This is just....so earnest, and so beautifully worded. It touched me immediately that the translator (whose name was Laurence Alma Tadema) described taking such joy in their work of translating the words of someone they admired, and feeling as if they could never fully capture the original brilliance.
I flipped back to the beginning of the book, to try to glean some hint of how old it was. I wasn't sure if it would have a page at the beginning with Library of Congress and copyright info, like modern books do, and it didn't surprise me when it didn't. But what I did find, on the inside cover, was this:

A signature from someone whose first initial was M, although the rest is hard to read—the best guess that discord friends and i have been able to come up with is the last name Lainy, but please help me out if you have any clue what the middle initial could be—which is dated 1911.
I'm writing this post in 2023, so when i saw that signature I realized that this book was at least 112 years old, and definitely the oldest book I'd ever held in my hands.
I don't go to a lot of antiques stores. I'm sure that finding something this old is a lot more commonplace than it feels like to me. But I had a moment of complete awe and reverence in the back of this antique store, okay. The feeling of connection with the translator who had described their work as a paper imitation of a rose was suddenly a connection I'd had with a person who lived over a century ago, and another connection with someone who had owned this exact book and signed their name inside in 1911. It blew me away a little.
I flipped carefully through the pages, read a few lines of the plays (which seemed lovely, at a glance), and then put the book back on the shelf. Because what was i going to do with a 112 year old book of translated French plays?
I wandered around the store a little more and then came back to the bookshelf. Picked the book up again. Flipped through it. Stared at the signature on the first page. Put it back again.
Repeated that at least two more times, attempting to convince myself that i did not need this book, and it was very old and fragile and it's not like i could just stick it on my bookshelf between a couple of YA novels, and it was just a couple of dusty plays that i probably wouldn't ever read, and we were technically there before the shop was open for our selling appointment and I didn't know if the shop lady would even sell it to me, and I did not need to own a 112 year old book.
And then my mom was finished with the shop owner, and asked me if I wanted to buy the book I'd been holding and staring at for the last several minutes, and I said "I'd like to, if I can" because despite my attempts to convince myself otherwise I was going to be heartbroken if I did not walk out of there with that book.
The antiques shop lady did indeed sell it to me, for eight dollars.
So now I have a very old book.

I asked the shop owner what I should do to avoid damaging it, and she told me to keep it out of the sun and never store it in plastic. I am under no impression that this book holds significant monetary or cultural value, but it's still a piece of history and I would like to keep it safe. I'd also like to read more of it, if I can, although I have yet to do more than open it partway and flip through a few pages, because I'm worried about the spine. People on tumblr who know about old books, please share any other knowledge or advice you might have!
I'm still not sure exactly why I bought this, but it brings me a lot of joy to hold in my hands, and I think that was a good enough reason.

“ Good day, Yunaka, ” Pelleas visits her. “ I, um, heard that you transferred houses. To the Black Eagles, if I recall? I know I didn't put my best foot forward while you were in my house, but I do genuinely wish the best for you in your new affiliation. Two very important people to me will be in your care; you can probably guess one of them. Besides that, I wished to gift you something for the Winter Festival, though I suppose we can call it a house-changing present too given the timing. If you'd take it? ”
With that, he offers a wrapped present box to her. Within is a journal filled with writing of his own penmanship— for better or for worse.
“ You gave me a book about your Emblems, so I thought to give you in exchange a tome about my homeland. Of course, I couldn't really get anything official in such a short notice, so please forgive the fact I had to write it all myself. As someone who grew up in it and became its King for a time though, I hope you'll find the information trustworthy if not... well, erm, useful at least? ”
And indeed, the handwritten book contains all sorts of details about Daein from both the perspective of a poor, starving orphan who had nothing to a crown royal who had everything at a price. It details it from his point of view, all the sights and towns he's seen, the weather he's experienced, sprawling descriptions of the unique architecture and what made the place, for all the misery he had lived through within it, a place he loved dearly nevertheless.
“ I hope you find it interesting as well. I still find myself quite engrossed in reading and rereading your gift to me. If I could give you even a fraction of my fascination, I'll count this a success. ”
"Oh, heya Pelly!" Dang...she'd figured out that seeing Pelleas in class was a rare enough sight already. Seeing him make the effort to not only be out and about, but actually hunting her down to see her? She was pretty sure that was some kind of special. She was also pretty sure, based on no personal experience of her own obviously, that commenting on it would send him right back to hiding.
"You heard correctly!" She hoped he wasn't feeling some kind of way about it. Laslow had been joking, but now she was kinda worried that some of the Lions might think she'd bailed or abandoned them or something silly like that. "Thought it'd be fun to go into the new year with some fresh changes...and there's some things that I'm curious about that I'm hoping to get a closer eye on."
Nothing he needed to worry about, obviously.
"Oh? Two?" She knew that Micaiah was one of the Eagles, but she had no clue who that second important person could be.
The time for questioning would come...but not now. Now was the time for gift giving, apparently. "Aw, Pelly! You didn't have to get me a gift, that's so sweet."
A book isn't a surprise after her gift, but a journal is. She flips through a few of the pages without reading anything just yet. It'd be weird if she started reading something personal or embarrassing in front of him, right? Luckily, he clears up what it's really about.
Yunaka flashes him a smile. "Thanks! That does sound interesting, and I'm sure I'll love it. I appreciate you taking the time to do something like this when you didn't have to. I'll be sure to give it a read as soon as I get a chance."
She's always liked history books. There's no complicated emotions or wishing or happy endings in history. It's just fact, presented as so, with no fluff or feelings. She's never read someone's personal history before though.
"I don't have a festival gift to give back, but I do hope you have a good one." The smile turns exaggerated here, in an obviously playful way, and she waves towards him with the book. "And at least try to go to class next year, alright? I can't make you anymore, but you really should at least try to take advantage of what you've got here."
...wait. Did he say king?

yall need to realize that the blood pact plotline and trusting Izuka isn't inherently a bad plot point in Radiant Dawn it was just horribly executed like for the blood pact just have more build up towards that being the case, confirm its a real thing prior to the reveal that Pelleas signed a blood pact, and maybe get more in depth about what its rules are (perhaps even some plot changes because *loopholes*) as for Izuka yeah we all knew he was evil just based on the fact he was in Path of Radiance, his theme screams evil, etc and yeah with how it was executed in canon it just screams idiocy but my proposition is what if instead of being a "twist" villain he was a twist not-villain so where it was originally thought to be stupidity turns out to not be the case at all and he probably actually joins the (admittedly already huge)party in Radiant Dawn theres several reasons he could end up not being antagonistic: common enemy, change of heart(doubtful), maybe he's somehow really loyal to Daein due to reasons (which would include its new ruler), maybe he's just a fucking wildcard idk, etc look my point is that plot points people keep saying are awful because they're supposedly awful on paper just doesn't make sense to me, any idea can be stupid if executed poorly enough, and on the opposite side any idea can be genius if executed properly enough, so no i do not think that the blood pact and trusting Izuka were horrible full stop but instead was horribly executed

🍷✂️ Pelllllleas?
ooo these are some good ones! hope you enjoy this hehe >u<
🍷 (wine) - Does your oc drink? What kind of alcohol do they enjoy? What are their drinking habits? What kind of drunk are they?
God, Pelleas could drink an entire pool filled with alcohol and it probably still wouldn't be enough for him! He adores rich, fruity wines and would probably drink any sort of cocktail that's placed before him- the sweeter, the better! He loves a good rum as well, but doesn't drink that as often. He despises beer and vodka, the scent alone is enough for him to throw a tantrum and make a scene if it was offered to him.
He drinks pretty much every night and has a god-awful amount of empty bottles littered throughout his villa, and every now and again he'll crush them up and return the shards to the sea to become seaglass. There's no way he's hauling all those bottles off to some dump, it's just easier to use his water magic under the cover of night to just sneak the waste away~
Depending on what he drinks, Pelleas will be a different sort of nightmare if he has too much. Thankfully because of his insane tolerance he doesn't get hammered often, but if he indulges on too much rum then he'll get aggressive and fast, so it's best to stay well away from him if he's on a rum drinking spree. Otherwise, he's a very loud drunk, with what little thought filter he has being thrown out of the window- you will be insulted and trashed on by him, and he'll laugh at you for it. He'll get extremely giggly too though, so if you're able to disarm him with something that amuses him then you'll be safe from his wicked tongue for at least half a minute.
✂️ (scissors) - Has your character ever cut their own hair? What about someone else’s? How did it turn out?
Pelleas chooses to care for his own hair, not wanting some disgusting piece of trash human to screw up decades of careful hair growth. Merfolk like himself see long hair as a sort of beauty/status symbol and they find it impressive if one merperson is able to care for their hair and make it look good on their own- longer hair is more difficult to tame under the wild waves, so those who can retain their beauty are revered.
As the problem child of the royal family of merfolk, none of his siblings would've trusted him to do their hair. With his disdain for his prideful family and their traditional seafaring ways, they knew to steer clear of him. He wouldn't have hesitated to slice off their hair to shame and ridicule them in front of their subjects and peers. Yet still, even now he's escaped onto land, he still carries on the old tradition of caring for his ever-growing hair...
At most he will cut off the dead ends of his hair once every month, using his powers over water to expertly take off what he needs gone from the tips of his hair without having to lift a finger. You'd have to be somebody he views as slightly more of an equal than most other people for him to even entertain the thought of cutting your hair, but even if he did it he'd probably berate you for your haircare choices and would then cut your hair how he'd want it, so definitely be careful with that!

The day of the Winter Festival, Ewan receives a parcel from one of the courier owls on the monastery grounds. It's been wrapped neatly but contains no name tag or anything indicating who sent it from the outside.
Should it be opened, what's revealed to be inside is a box of candies of various flavors, all shaped like little stars. Sweetened by honey, the little confections contain tiny impurities— the hands that made them unable to quite get the batch to come out uniform or as perfect little star shapes, some having an extra point or failing to be symmetrical.
They come with a note that reads:
To Ewan, These are for the Winter Festival season. I imagine you might feel betrayed by me still, considering how intensely you spoke of such matters during the night we all took to playing at devils and angels. As such, I have chosen to not bother you directly today. For all the candy I took from you, I hope my attempt to give these to you makes up for it in some part. May you enjoy the festival season. Pelleas.
It was a day like any other, as Ewan was comfortably sat by a tree in the courtyard with a big book sprawled out in front of him. The spine of the book read “advanced magic techniques and high level spells”, but anyone perceptive (or close) enough could see that hidden by the spell book was what the mage was actually reading. “I’m a male knight, yet I’m pretty enough to be the princess’ body double?!”, it read. Despite the mild chill that the day brought, he still felt like reading outside.
At least, it looked to be an afternoon like any other, but the mundanity was broken by the sound of flapping wings. Quickly (and somewhat panicked) Ewan closed his book right as a present dropped in front of his feet.
“Huh?” the mage tilted his head sideways, slightly. Did he order something from Anna’s shop recently…? Not that he remembered? Looking at the box, there were no notes or anything like that either. “Hmm.. could it be a love confession? Ooh, or maybe an invitation of some kind?” Allowing his mind to wander a little, he opened it to find a bunch of treats.
Scarlet eyes sparkled with joy as he pulled the bag up, the candies looked so delicious…! They also had a homemade flair to them, judging from the small imperfections. Ewan didn’t mind though, if anything it was more charming than anything else.
Looking deeper into the box, he stumbled on the note. Reading it, it revealed that it was neither a confession nor an invitation but an apology of sorts, as well as a gift from Pelleas. Aw geez…
The redhead smiled lightly. He was still feeling guilty about that..? “Aw, Thanks Pelly. But I was never mad at you.” Sure, despite what he said, he also realized it was ultimately just a game. He never held it against the chosen devils.
Perhaps.. he should’ve talked to Pelleas about that, considering he felt bad enough to not want to show his face. Just approaching him now though felt a little dull after the effort the dark mage put into this…
With a grin, Ewan popped one of the candies into his mouth. Mmm, sweet and delicious! Candy really was the best. And just what he needed too, to get his creative juices flowing.
“Alright, first things first I need to borrow a wyvern…..”

Lucia plays Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn: Part 3 Chapter 6
Sothe's really not thrilled about this fight. Stands to reason. But Micaiah isn't either, and still does what she feels she needs to. . . oof, this really isn't gonna get any easier for her, is it?
Well then! Plenty of preperations to make, because when I last had the Dawn Brigade they were only just starting to reach their second tier stages, whereas Ike and the others are already starting to reach their third tier stages. I specifically didn't use any bonus exp on the Greil's Mercenaries, in case that is a shared pool that the player has access to, rather than something that is seperate for these armies. . . but, turns out it is seperate for the armies, and instead of ~28k I had for Greil's Mercenaries, I only have the ~8k I had for the Dawn Brigade. Ooooph.
I ended up pumping a whole ton of exp into Edward, Aran, Nolan and Jill. I figure that if anyone is going to carry me through this it'll be them. And for Aran in particular this seems to be paying off, as he's getting far better stats than Nephenee even has right now!
Now, base conversations! Sothe getting a Master Crown. . . yeah, not using that. There's no way I'm wasting the exp for any character I still have right now. Maybe if I have someone at level 20 at the base menu.
Jill - oh, she's really not buying the whole war involvement. But after all the character development she went through in PoR, this really stands to reason.
Edward, Nolan and Leonardo - how suspiciously generous of the game to give me three legendary weapons just like that. I definitely won't be needing them. . . and all three of them putting their faith in Micaiah. I'll say it again: oof.
Now, as for the gameplay part of it all: all my levelling did thankfully pay off. Aran was able to tank like it was nobody's business, Nolan managed to boost his awful 12 defence to usable levels with his new axe, Edward was putting in all the work as usual, and Jill managed to catch up on some of her stats. She's no Haar, but she's doing pretty well for herself.
I did leave Fiona and Leonardo behind despite me being technically allowed to use the entire Dawn Brigade. There's just no way that they can really contribute anything, and I think they'll most likely just get in the way.
Black Knight is back! Didn't really use him though, because there's no way I'm wasting experience like that, and there is still the fun mechanic of the AI prioritizing units that can't fight back. . . like a Black Knight who doesn't have Alondite equipped.
I also didn't attack either Lethe or Mordecai or even find them, so I'll just read up on any conversations there later. But also, I know that if Lethe somehow died already, then a random guy with literally no other role takes her place, which is just. . . lol.
I like how the story tries to frame this fight as completely hopeless for the Alliance, when it's the Dawn Brigade that is outright struggling in terms of gameplay. Guess we got a bit of Ludonarrative Dissonance™ at play here!
Though there is the part where almost calling in Skrimir gets Micaiah to reconsider. The devs really must have been at least somewhat aware of the situation they're putting the Dawn Brigade in.
Tauroneo's here! Except not really 'cause he's just delivering stuff. Short stay, that. And I doubt that he'll be able to convince Pelleas of peace.
But speaking of Pelleas. . . I was theorizing about Izuka being blackmailed into backing off earlier, but I think Pelleas getting blackmailed sounds also pretty likely. This whole. . . menu thingy that shows all the characters and their affiliation and relations does connect him with Ashnard and Almedha as "Parent and Child" with a question mark, so it's pretty obvious that his heritage is faked to some extent. The question is, who exactly is doing the blackmailing here?
Now, as for the conversations I missed - jeez, Zihark can outright become an enemy?? They really driving home that Daein shouldn't get involved here. And the conversations that Jill has. . . I'm mostly on the Jill/Mist train, but I think Jill/Lethe also has potential. Especially with conversations like this.

Todays rambling about FE characters: I’m so fascinated by Micaiah (I’m working on sewing a cosplay for her because easy project and she’s cute but it has had the side effect of me thinking about her every day)
I feel like there’s a lot of lingering accusations of her being a Mary Sue because she’s from 2006 and every female lead was accused of that back in the day—and to some extent I get it because yeah a lot of other characters comment that she’s so kind and beautiful etc. which is a bit forced for a new protagonist. On the other hand: some of the characters who “immediately like her for no reason” are explicitly doing so because they are planning on using her for their own selfish gains. Like Izuka the torturer who tortures for fun (it is not a good thing that he likes her! It is not a good thing that she listens to him ever for any reason even if she doesn’t realize he is an evil torturer!). Or even Pelleas, who seems like a nice handsome prince restoring his lost kingdom, except that he’s a lying liar who lies and he is even more of a manipulated pawn than Micaiah herself, so once again this isn’t necessarily a good thing that he’s latching onto her
It just seems like over and over she makes bad choices and trusts awful people, but the game gives it this air of “look at her, she’s the special protagonist!” and I think it’s easy to mistake the in-universe awe and hype surrounding her (real or not) for bad writing when in fact the story is begging for the details to be unpacked and dissected and compared to Path of Radiance and its heroes
Anyway Micaiah does kind of suck but that’s the point and I love her for it. Yeah she did war crimes and she looked really cute doing them <3

The number of people who are sent to trick-or-treat begins to dwindle, and so over the course of the round, it feels inevitable that the two might cross paths again. However, when Pelleas takes notice of his fellow mage, that's a marked difference that has him hesitating at first.
“ Ewan? ” he calls out, uncertain. When the other turns, everything appears to return to as he might expect it to, but it is in that that makes him continue to pause.
At last, he asks, “ If I am wrong and simply imagining things, you may tell me, but... are you feeling differently between the last time we spoke and now? ”
He gives the redhead his full attention, dark eyes searching for any minute shifts.
“ There's not much I can say that can't just be observed, but... I'm being given the impression that many people between the last round and this one have changed. They feel... wearier. Upset. I cannot say I blame them, given the nature of this game, but... I suppose it strikes me more if it has hit you as well. You have, for as long as I've known you, been quite optimistic. I thought a night like tonight might need you as such. ”
The night wind whistles between them.
“ But... perhaps that was unfair of me to believe should be your duty. We all are victims of this night after all. ”
Having put his broom down for a little while, Ewan was taking a break on a nearby bench. The boy had a pensive, slightly sorrowful look as his eyes gazed down to the ground, a hand on his chest. It still bothered him, the way someone just brazenly stole from him. He tried to think back and figure out when exactly the theft occurred, but no moment stood out to him.
A soft sigh escaped his lips. He was just thinking in circles, and it was going nowhere fast. He really didn’t like all these doubts welling up, it just made him feel icky.
So lost in thought, he didn’t realize someone was calling to him. Not until he saw a shadow, as someone stood in front of him and blocked the light of one of the many candles decorating the street.
Caught slightly off guard, he turned his gaze up to notice that it was Pelleas standing there. “Huh?” He stared in silence for a moment, before his brain finally caught up again. “O-Oh, Pelleas! Hi, it’s good to see you!” Like a match being lit up, a bright and practiced smile bloomed near instantly as soon as it was able to.
The older mage was quick to voice his concern, to which Ewan gave a light laugh. He was touched at least, at the other’s care. “Ehehe, don’t worry! I’m totally fine!” His gaze shifted slightly as he spoke those last three words, suddenly finding it difficult to look Pelleas in the eyes as he spoke.
“Of course, when playing a game of suspicion things like this will happen. Nobody likes being stolen from and lied to, after all.” Hearing Pelleas’ speak, Ewan tried to suppress even further that he was among those people. “B-But like I said, I’m fine! I’m not upset at all, it’s just a part of the game.”
“It strikes me more if it has hit you as well.”
The young mage felt a sense of responsibility well up at those words. Someone was counting on him to be the life of the party, and that meant no letting himself wallow. Push back those bad thoughts, smile and keep smiling! “Aw, that’s not an unfair thing to say at all!” He spoke cheerfully. “You’re absolutely right, if anything. I’m fine, so rather than just sitting here, I should spread some cheer! The name of the game is tricking and treating, so after a trick should come a treat.” A light giggle escaped his lips.
“While I love tricks, there’s no denying treats are even more fun. Maybe then everyone’ll feel better!” Speaking it out loud like this, he was convincing himself that this truly was how he felt.
Then he opened his own candy bag, stuffed to the brim. He ruffled through it, trying to find something Pelleas might like. “Speaking of, what kind of candies do you like, Pelleas? I’ll see if I have some in my bag! Consider it a treat, and a thanks for the good advice.”
#(ask: i’ll help out!)#(pelleas)#pirrhyc#toajuicy2024#//ty for the ask!! He’s internalizing :)#//seriously tho it’s a lot of fun getting to delve into this#// even with the more lighthearted context it’s very telling I think#//also while I only said so in the first case he’s getting shifty eyed every time he says “I’m fine” :crunchy:

Marni is no stranger to the cold. She's the kind of girl who wears thigh high socks with her skirt even when it's snowing out; the kind of derangement that comes from being born and raised somewhere with cooler than average temperatures. That's why even if it snowed a little bit later than usual this year, she didn't mind one bit. Better it be snow than the awful way the sun had beat down on her for that whole month she was trapped on that weird island.
Still, even someone used to the cold does not wanted to be trapped outside while it's snowing. No, perhaps even more so, the dangers of getting caught in a snowstorm are more apparent to those who have reason to worry about them.
In an ideal world, they would have finished everything up before the snow really started coming down hard, but the unseasonal snow hadn't lightened up like expected, worsening into a blizzard instead. If they didn't want to freeze to death out on a mountain trail, they'd have to take shelter and wait things out.
"This is all your fault! If you hadn't held me back, we would've been done sooner and then we wouldn't have gotten snowed in!" Marni thankfully holds herself back from kicking the support beam of their dinky little lean-to even though she really wants to. "You could've, I dunno, used one of your staves to send me down the mountain! I would've come back for you! Maybe."
But alas and alack, the two of them are just stuck here until the blizzard stops. If Truant A and Truant B are a little late in getting back from a mission, well, who exactly is going to notice?
With nothing better to do, Marni starts to rifle through their bag of supplies. It hadn't originally meant to be an overnight excursion, so there really isn't much in there besides a day's worth of rations and a single blanket.
A blanket that Marni takes for herself with no regard for Pelleas, mind you.

"Oh! Micaiah, it's so nice to see you again!" Recognition gave way to light-hearted comfort, as the light in Nanna's eyes danced. From the elegant updo to the decadent, embroidered white dress she sported, Nanna gasped in awe. "Oh you're breathtaking. Look at you...!"
"I've been meaning to give this to you, since your strategic prowess equals your beauty." Nanna held out a feather clip, in a similar fashion to her own. "It's special; try pulling it out of its sheath."
Once pulled, the feather revealed an ink pen end, that could be used to scrawl on future plans. "I made it myself, thinking back to our play battles." Her eyes crinkled, sentimentally. "My, what a leader you will be."
Micaiah had been certain she could handle the Ethereal Ball having attended (near) twice before but the enchanted venue where they now found themselves proved to be more overwhelming than it had first seemed when first viewed through starry eyes. Still, overwhleming as it may be it certainly seems good practice, for her ability to adapt if nothing else; and the fact that Pelleas, Leonardo, Edward and the faces of the others she's come to love stay with her still is certainly enough to ground her through the night at least.
"Nanna!" Micaiah returns the Princess of Nordion's greeting just as brightly. "I'm overjoyed to see you as well, and oh -- to hear such a thing from you, surely I must be doing something right! Your words mean much." Never one for just words, however, Nanna then presents her with a stunning gift. Micaiah holds it gently extended in front of her as Nanna explains its components and laguhs in delight.
"Why, this is marvelous! You must let me return the favor some time, after all our battle was also a delight." Her soft eyes flash for a moment, for they have both seen their fair share of real battles too; but here at an academy where camaraderie is formed rather than borders Micaiah can at least be grateful they have both made it this far.
"In the mean time," Micaiah says, putting the feather behind her ear so she might free both hands to play with her braid; a moment later, two of flower hair pins are held out to Nanna, "would you take one of these? They are hair pins in the shape of sweet alyssum and since coming here, they smell like the blooms too! Isn't that curious?"
#hosannan#;answered#toaball2023#//the fact they are free to use first name basis is so :pleading:#//thank you this ask filled me up like a warm cup of cocoa i keep looking at it #//having a sweet honey like hair pin is good until we meet the giant bees (mods dont look)

@pirrhyc asked:
It begins again. Another year, another mock fight. Riding atop horseback, it looks slightly different though mostly the same. A throng of bodies, a throng of blood, a throng of screams. It is decorated as a lighthearted affair, and Pelleas knows he ought to treat it the same too, but battle has never come lightly for a soul like his.
The weather grows colder as the later months of the year roll in. So too does his blood.
He eyes his opponent. He does not say a thing in a modern tongue, letting only ancient words be his guide.
[ Pelleas casts Death at range at Tailtiu. 1d20 roll: 6. Miss! (-0HP) Tailtiu’s HP: 5/5. ]
The image of the Grim Reaper spawns above the woman but it does not take from her. Miasma conjures but so quickly dispels, Pelleas begins to wonder if it was real at all.
“ …You'll kill me, won't you? ”
He doesn't know if she'll be able to hear him in the mass of chaos swirling all around them, but he can feel the thrum of magic in the air, feel his coffin build around him.
…he bites the inside of his cheek. If her spell doesn't connect, he might as well give it his best shot. He begins to quickly mutter the incantation for his follow-up spell, but it shall be a spell that never is able to be brought to life.
After all, it was him who chose the path of Death.
The familiar heartbeat of battle easily takes her own, guides it into the same rhythm. Tailtiu’s fingers twitch, eager sparks at their tips. She’s ready for some fun -- a chance to live a little without the threat of all the losses war tends to take.
Her opponent, on the other hand, could not look any more the opposite. He wears an expression as grim as the magic that seeps from around him. Eyes glitter, undarkened by the shadow that surges towards her.
A laugh bubbles up from her chest as the spell fades away without so much more than a breath against her cheek. Death has taken her once before.
It knows now that she will not go so willingly.
“Hmmm... let me think on it.” The grin on her face is so genuine despite the harrowing scene her foe makes for them both. Well worn leather snaps open in her palm, pages a flurry in the early autumn wind, and Tailtiu’s hand raises.
Tailtiu counters with Thoron. 1d20 roll: 19. Crit! (-5HP) Pelleas’s HP: 0/5. Pelleas has been defeated!
Thunder cracks ahead despite the clear sky, energy sparking in her palm until it cannot be contained any longer. Magic bursts forward, devouring the silhouette of that poor boy in a flash of light so blinding that Tailtiu’s own eyes squeeze shut.
And what’s revealed as that flash dies is enough to widen her grin tenfold. Maybe she should feel a little bad ( ...probably ) but the boy still breathes, and her victory is claimed. Tome tucked beneath an arm, Tailtiu dusts her palms against one another with a hum.
“Aw, and that was just a warning shot!”

Left an anon about Xander a few weeks ago and I wanted to clarify. I like Camus archetype too. I think the problem is that Xander exemplifies the best and worst aspects of that archetype when you make them playable characters. Except for Camus himself, the archetype usually aren't playable and then die as enemies. With Xander? You have Camus archetype in Birthright, obedience to his evil/possessed father in Conquest. You have well written support Xander vs WTF story Xander too. It's complicated
Ohhhh, yeah we differ heavily on that.
Aside from the story vs support Xander being a result of a swath of changed lines thanks to Treehouse, I'm of the opinion that Conquest thrives as a story because it showcases how playing the side that's instigating the conflict can suck just like how it would be playing against it, due to the lack of control, no ethics, being undermined, etc. It's why I came to appreciate the Camus archetype more, since I find a lot of people's likes for it (not targeting you with this!) is incredibly superficial in that it only serves to fill their arbitrary 'Gray Morality' quota, i.e. "we're fighting against good people, that means the conflict isn't black and white :0"
IMO, that removes a lot of the nuance from the situation. For example, Lloyd and Linus were good brothers to Nino who fought for honor in the Black Fang, but still weren't up to challenging their father for basically seceding control of the group to Sonia and Nergal, and both get lost too lost in their rage of losing the other that neither bothers surrendering or listening to Nino later on.
Now, does that make them awful people? No, that also removes nuance from the equation. It just makes them human. Humans get to be cowardly, enraged, and stubborn just as much as they can be compassionate or honorable-that's what makes us multifaceted, and being able to depict that with a character in a fictional work is a sign of a good character.
It's why I feel trying to shove Lloyd and Linus into examples of "how to do good Moral Gray" is disprespectful to the facets they have (especially with how the FE fandom in particular does it) same with how some try to force Xander into a box of "he's just cowardly and obedient and stupid!!" without any other context of his character. It'd be the same with Selena in FE8, or Eldigan in FE4, or even pseudo-Camus characters like Pelleas in FE10.
Idk, maybe it's just me reading too far into it, but I like trying to see the deeper parts of why characters are written to do what they do.

”Uh-huh.” Griss eyed Pelleas sideways, clearly unconvinced. “You don’t sound too sure of yourself. If you’re a human like you say— huh?”
They both stopped and looked down. A pool of dark blood spread across the narrow edge of the tunnel, shimmering with the flicker of the distant candlelight. Small rivulets zigzagged toward the wall, following hairline cracks in the stone, puddling there and creeping along its base away from the rest of it. The stagnant air was heavy with the scent of iron and, fainter, perspiration and horse. Less than a foot away was the merchant they’d chased down, slumped against the wall like he’d been thrown there, a smear of blood behind him marking how he’d hit it and slid down. With his hands on his hips and an unreadable smile stretched across his lips, Griss ambled closer for a better look. The blood splashing lightly underfoot hardly fazed him.
”Well, look at that,” he said, rasping voice nearly melodic with admiration. Crouching down with his arms draped over his knees, he leaned in to examine the wounds still festering with black tar, then pressed two fingers under the man’s jaw. Nothing. He snorted, snatched the merchant by the chin and flung his head back, glasses hanging from one ear, so that his eyes stared lifelessly up at the ceiling and his mouth gaped wordlessly as if in the middle of some rapturous prayer.
”You got ‘im good. He’s dead dead now, not just playing at it.” His laughter echoed harshly off the walls, and he threw a look up at the other mage. “All over some weird-tasting ice cream, huh?” There wasn’t a hint of judgment in his tone. If anything, perhaps a note of awe. He knew a few dragons, and a not insignificant number of humans (if they were even still humans now - they probably weren’t) who would have done the same thing. The world that had raised him was about taking what you wanted, and killing the things you didn’t.
”Satisfied now?”
