"Captains Log: 2386.21: ...Wow...it's so strange to call myself 'captain'. *Ahem*. I mean: This is Captain Doreen Green, interim captain of the USS Enterprise -D while Captain Picard is on an 365 day sabbatical. After his assimilation and subsequent freedom from the Borg, he has every right to take some time off or possibly start his retirement.

I was fearful that the crew would not take kindly to a young, inexperienced Irradiated human to step in and take the title of caption on such a prestigious vessel, but everyone has welcomed me with proverbial open arms. Even First Commander Riker has been supportive of my position even though he has every right to be angered since the position typically would divert to him.

Thankfully, no one has been outwardly judgmental of my Irradiation, but I had been informed ahead of time that human members of Starfleet work with people of all shapes and sizes and that I will not face the same wariness I get from my fellow Terra citizens. However, Lieutenant Data has informed me that my Irradiation mimics the form of an animal called a squirrel. Unfortunately, those creatures died out because of nuclear radiation like so many other species...I'm not sure how I feel about that. Disappointed? Sad?

Perhaps I should change my name to Captain Squirrel to distinguish myself since there is already a Captain Green on the USS Dipper...

I degrees...I hope to make a good impression on this lovely crew during my temporary command. Hopefully, with a good review from them and Starfleet, I will be rewarded with my own ship and crew!

I found out about the mailman incident in full when I was voting and ended up gossiping with the town clerk for a second and she was like "is your mail still being misdelivered, and did they ever replace that special book you ordered that got ruined?"

And I was like "no and no" (it was a special edition of the golden compass and a limited print I bought secondhand)

And she was like "that's because the old mailman got fired" and gave the rundown and at first I was like

"oh no! He must have been so cold! Poor guy" (because it's Minnesota and my book got ruined in the winter) WHICH WAS DECIDEDLY NOT THE RIGHT RESPONSE TO THE CITY CLERK since it turns out he was pitching packages left and right and throwing boxes of insulin like his life depended on it 365 days a year

So then I amended and was like "oh no! He must have been so tired! Poor guy"

Which was also not the right response.

Anyway one of his interim replacements got annoyed while delivering packages into my yard because I have chihuahuas. So, my substitute mailman forgot to relatch and fully close my gate despite the fact that my dogs were outside and they all crawled over the Amazon package he left in the opening of the gate and escaped. My elderly dog howled and cried when the package was too tall going the other way and he could not go home (the cold makes his arthritis worse so he gets pretty desperate for his heated blanket). Hearing my sad little boy cry, I finally looked up from making breakfast to realize I had chihuahuas and lapdogs everywhere.

Security in times of trouble

Psalm 91 has been called God’s atomic bomb shelter, but is in fact it is our nuclear, chemical, and biological shelter.

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most-High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. There is tremendous protection at the foot of the cross, God himself is watching over his people.

2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Each believer can truthfully say concerning the Lord, that He himself is our place of safety and not only in easy times, He is like a fortress around us and protecting us in time of trouble, battle, and difficulty.

3 Surely, he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

The Lord is an ever-present help in times of trouble and stands ready to help and protect you from the sudden traps of the enemy, like a bird going into a specifically designed trap Satan tries to ensnare God’s people. God thinks that people who lay traps for other people ought to be caught in their own trap. Amen

The deadly pestilence includes all parasites, infections, infestations, viral pandemics and the like. Surely, he will save you and yours.

4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

The picture here is the adult eagle extended the wing over the chicks to protect and ward off any evil. Anyone or anything wanting to do us harm needs to get past our God who places us under his wings and gives us a place of safety, a place of refuge, a place of immunity from evil.

God is always true to his word and is so dependable to his people, that his promise of protection to us is like a battle shield or defensive bulwark of a mighty castle. We can be sure of his protection.

5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

The Lord’s protection of his covenant people is 24/7 x 365 all through the night and day.

Whenever our enemy attacks at night trying to terrify us, God’s hedge of protection surrounds us both sleeping and awake. This applies to the targeted attacks (destructive calamity) of the enemy, even the fiery darts of the evil one, and even when the guided missile zeroing in on you, we can remain assured of the Lord’s protection and security.

Even when the vectors/agencies of the enemy i.e. plagues, pestilences, pandemics try to latch on to us under the cover of darkness or by stealth, or in the full heat of the day at noon, we need not fear for God is with us and in us, and wrapped/enveloped around us.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

This promise is particularly suited to the historical plague or today’s pandemic which as we can see is claiming thousands of lives around the world today. But, whatever is happening to other people, those of us dwelling in God’s shelter can expect his special providence and care so much so that the Lord will not let the pestilence come near you to hurt you, God has his marked his favour on his people and you are one of them. Those who refuse to come into God’s shelter, one day we will see the come into God’s judgement at the Great White Throne.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

24x7After all God’s above promises of protection, we can indeed say to ourselves with the psalmist, surely the Lord is indeed our refuge and surely we want to dwell under his shadow.

Because that is our position, is our true belief then no harm should overtake us and God will prevent disaster coming upon our house.

Interim Prayer

Lord God, we thank you today for your all-embracing security over your people. We thank you for actively protecting us from plagues and pestilences night and day every day, we thank you that whatever is happening to other people even around us that you will keep the pandemic from us, your people, it won’t reach us. Unfortunately, we will see many who do not love you God fall into the enemy’s hand. We thank you Most High Lord for your assurance that we are in your place of safety, and dwell with you in your shelter where no harm should overtake us nor the plague enter into our houses. We thank you Lord for your shelter at the foot of Jesus’ Christ cross.

Following a brief tenure in the United States Marine Corps, Maria Hill was recruited into the ranks of the intelligence agency, SHIELD.  She was promoted to the rank of colonel after successfully exposing two high ranking agents who were actually operatives of Hydra.  Hill maintained a sterling record and reputation in the agency.  

In the wake of Nicholas Fury’s ouster as director, Hill was named interim director.  She maintained this post throughout the first Superhero Civil War and oversaw operations to apprehend and detain heroes who had refused to comply with the registration act.  When Tony Stark was named director of SHIELD, Hill stayed on as his chief deputy.  Later, following the Secret Invasion ordeal, the reigns of SHIELD fell into the hands of Norman Osborn and both Hill and Stark were forced to go into hiding.  Hill worked alongside Stark in efforts to bring Osborn down.  

When Osborn fell, Steve Rogers was named director of SHIELD and Hill returned to the organization as his top lieutenant.  She later became director herself but was stripped of the position and forced out of the agency on charges of misconduct over the Pleasant Hill detention facility.  Hill has since acted as an independent operator and proved pivotal in helping The Black Widow take down a villainous scheme known as Operation Rubicon Trigger.  

Maria Hill features prominently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by actress Cobie Smulders.  The character first appeared in New Avengers Vol. 1 #4 (2005).

Christopher Sawyer was born on the upper east side of New York City on March 10th 2002 to Jillian and Eric Sawyer. His father is a financial adviser on Wall Street and his mother is a CEO of a luxury fashion company. He is an only child, which—along with his emotionally absent parents—led to a lonely childhood. Surrounded by material love rather than nurturing love.

Chris absorbed himself in TV and movies, quickly becoming obsessed with the idea of acting. His mother immediately agreed to idea, signing him up for the best acting lessons possible. His father, however, was initially skeptical. Chris is accepted into multiple roles. His standard of getting everything he wants is slowly built up over the years.

Christopher slowly attends school less and less as his focus is further shifted to his acting career. By high school, he barely attends, graduating from pure bribery. Despite his lack of high school education, he is of average intelligence and can speak high school level French.

Chris permanently moved to Los Angeles in 2019 after constant travel there for acting opportunities. Around 2022, he starts hosting more parties, quickly changing his public appearance to his current, less favorable one. He had always been a little annoying nepo baby, but it got a lot more blatant & known after his lifestyle changes.

His permissive parents have caused him to become a young adult who publicly acts out for the attention of his parents, especially his mother. He has the notion that any attention from his parents is good, yet desperately attempts to please his mother when he is reprimanded. This leads to a cycle of: Chris has a party or other publicized event → his mother calls him & tells him to cut that shit out → he lays low for a week or two. Then repeat. The amount of times his boy has gone to rehab for like.. a week then quit is CRAZY.

He never opens up to people: having two personas: loud &, obnoxious party boy & cold yet charismatic actor. The first one is for parties, the second is for press tours and other interviews. Probably thinks he's nonchalant, is actually a deeply wounded child actor with constant impending crash-outs.

I think he deeply yearns for a romantic relationship but has no idea what that would entail or how he would find one. His mother's reaction to him coming out as bisexual was literally "Aw that's nice sweetie, has filming wrapped up for today? I need to go, bye," THIS BOY HAS NOT EXPERIENCED LOVE AND CARE 💀🙏🔥

Chris uses the material to fill the void left by his childhood. Strong believer of 'money CAN buy happiness' despite the fact it didn't as a child either.

The First Light

 A birthday can be sweet without layered cakes or fanfare when you have your own super-fans, when you are confident that you are a darling who does good each day of each year as best you can with the people you think the world of the most. Then you can enjoy your day with an inner glow, the kind that will shine in your eyes. It was a celebration of another year, of another 365 days to cherish in a lifetime.

And as you were here, wearing a f/c dress, letting the smoothness of your skirt flow against the urge of the wind through the open windows of your car, you embraced the notion that such a beloved day could not have been any better when you’ve got the love of your life and your best friend driving you through cities and towns while you sing along to whatever cheesy shit was on the radio. It was like making memories in every city; once you visit each and every one of them again, you for sure wouldn’t but think of you and Leon.

The smell of coffee shops still whiffed by your nose, the tip still feeling a tad bit sticky from the jest of a cupcake icing. Your skin tingled from Leon’s sporadic touch on your thigh, and your heart melted once you’ve found your safe haven: alone in the hills beyond the near sunset.

The simple meal of a couple sandwiches and a few appetizers were heaven on your tongue, a claim backed up by the feel of satisfaction in your stomach, and Leon’s phone was happily shuffling through music of varying styles and genres, a mixture of emotions congregating beneath every step of a beat. When his playlist had hit bingo with a song he was certain you loved with your head and heart, he laid hold of your shy hand in his before spinning you around to the direction of the whispering breeze.

Leon was left smitten by how one you were with the air; a sophisticated zephyr tiptoeing against the clouds with the intricacy of a gliding leaf and the fidelity of a flitting bird. In his mind perhaps, maybe you were the wind! Though it was a subjective fact, the lightness of you against him was beginning to prove his point a lot more than he thought possible.

As you palliated with the melody, Leon’s gaze didn’t go by unnoticed by you.

“What’s got you looking at me like that, handsome?” You said as you spun around to face him before smoothly grazing your fingers at the nape of his neck. He replied, “your beauty, princess,” with a tempting smile pulling at his lips.

“Well, you need to stop at some point or else you’ll end up falling deep for me.”

“I wouldn’t mind it. I could also be deep inside you if you want to.” All four walls eventually gave in and everything felt hot all of a sudden. The feeling of your rising heat against his chest gave him a sense of pride knowing that a few prodding here and there could make you crumble in front of him.

“Okay, now you gotta stop. I’ll die right here, right now if you continue.” Leon placed his chin on the crown of your head as he wrapped his arms around you, still swaying you with the music. ‘Why? Do I make you blush, princess?”

“Mmm… And you very well know that, you smooth fucker.”

The last few hours ran like this, a few words and innuendos swinging back and forth between you two. The moon was beginning to peek in between darkening clouds along with a few evening stars teasing to support the tiny bit of light the moon was providing you with. The last of the sun, flanking right behind you, bid its interim goodbye as it made way for the reigning queen of the night.

Alas, that meant the day has come to an end. It went by too quickly in your opinion, it was like you ran through fast times without ever noticing everything dashing with you. Everything that has happened that day just felt good it almost made you want to drown in those moments for a given second. Inevitably, you cursed the clock for the mortality of the day.

As you and Leon were packing your things up, a circle of light began to shadow beneath you and expand to take up the whole kilometers of area. You were addled by the sudden change of brightness and when you and Leon looked up, white was choking the entirety of the sky.

You became hypnotized by it, pacing thoughts meeting together in a rendezvous at every point in your head. The clarity of the light became a trademark in your eyes. It grew less and less mundane to you and like a strike of a lightning, the heavens pummeled a beam of light to the ground before the fog in your head ebbed away in sight; a tour de force in a far off distance.

Notes:

Well, Robert brought another rookie to the Barn today.  Robert brings them here, gets them all coached up and strong, then diverts them to the Elite group at 6224.  I do all the work and he gets all the credit.

The above Rookie was Chris.  I don’t know how Chris hooked up with Robert.  All I know for certain is that Robert says Chris has a hot wife, and that’s the only reason he and Chris are friends.  You people always think that I make up exaggerations on this blog, but there is always an element of truth in my exaggerations.  It’s your job to separate the wheat from the chaff.  In the interim, I’m saving a nice T-shirt for Chris’s wife.

When his alarm sounds, blaring from the speaker of his phone, Sasuke gives a groan and rolls over. A hand fishes around for the device, managing (after several fumbles) to silence the damn thing.

Once his room is quiet again, he sighs and sinks back atop the mattress.

...it’s Tuesday. He has work today.

Ugh.

An arm slung over his eyes, he shifts it up to his brow, staring at his ceiling. Most of the room is dark save for a soft glow that peeks out from a tiny gap above his window’s blinds. The entire space looks blue. Mind oddly blank, he takes a minute or two to let his brain catch up, and then heaves himself up out of bed with a grunt.

Footsteps take him to the shower, which quickly fills with hot water. To this day, he doesn’t know how Itachi manages those cold ones. He’d sooner cut off his left hand. Whatever benefits the elder brother claims they have are not worth it. Within seven minutes he’s back out, toweling off and getting dressed. Lacing up his shoes, he abandons the apartment bedroom and heads instead into the belly of the flat. Breakfast is two hard boiled eggs and toast, all washed down with a cup of coffee. While he indulges in meals out fairly often, today just feels like a morning in kind of day.

Finally checking his phone, he notes the small nine-plus on his messages. Seems he was pretty popular after heading to bed last -

...oh.

Opening his messages, he can’t help a flinch. They’re all (but one) from Sakura. The extra is from his brother, reminding him of a meeting they have this afternoon with a client. The rest he builds up courage for before opening.

It’s a long tirade that bounces between anger, woe-is-me, accusations, pleads for pity...a typical Sakura exchange. Seems her being fired yesterday didn’t go over well...and she is, as he predicted, blaming him. Claiming it’s all an elaborate hoax to get her out of his hair.

...well, she’s half right. His father’s decision to remove her was a good segue into him telling her he really isn’t interested anymore. But it wasn’t him who suggested or thought up the move. That was entirely on Fugaku, but...good luck convincing her of that with her mind already made up for his guilt.

Heaving a heavy sigh, he decides to try and head off a reply now.

Sakura, it wasn’t my decision, it was my father’s. I was just as surprised as you were. But you’re right - I think this is as good a sign as any that we need to get some distance. Whatever that was between us...it’s been over for a while now. I have to get to work. For now, we both have some adjusting to do. Good luck.

Maybe a bit blunter than he meant it to sound, but...he’s rather sick of her attitude, anyway.

And all of this reminds him of what, instead, is waiting for him at work.

In the interim as Fugaku finds his younger son a new permanent secretary, Sasuke’s been assigned a temporary one: a girl from their billing department is filling in until a new hire is found. She’s only been there since yesterday, and admittedly Sasuke didn’t see much of her - she spent a great deal of time being walked through the process by Itachi’s assistant. Thankfully Sasuke’s day had been pretty light, and he hadn’t really needed her for anything.

...there’s just one problem.

She’s really cute.

And Fugaku had given him a lecture about office romances when he’d broken the news about Sakura’s being let go, citing his fallout with her as a small but real part of her being fired. But Sakura, to be fair, hadn’t really been much of anything except a casual, once-in-a-blue moon sort of deal. Her ‘distraction’ had been minimal at best, and it was far more her behavior that got her sacked. Sasuke’s attitude toward her making her sour had just been a chip off the iceberg.

Now she’s out of the picture, and Hinata - the girl from billing - will be there two weeks tops, according to his father. Then back to billing she’ll go, several floors down. And Sasuke’s new help, as Fugaku warned, will be someone he won’t be too keen on sleeping with, in hopes of curbing his tendency to make the office...tense.

Which, in his mind, isn’t wholly fair. Sakura was the one who made it such a big deal...and it was the only time it happened. It wasn’t like he had a list ten people long he’s messed around with! The way Fugaku spoke made it sound like a bad habit…

But now he’s got this to deal with. Hinata. Unlike Sakura, she’s been charming, sweet, and far more polite. As much as he hated to admit it...he was a bit smitten almost immediately. And he did not want to prove his father right. So, he’d holed himself up in his office, watching through the windows as she got mini lessons from the other secretary.

So...what to do. She won’t be in the department forever - and Fugaku had, even if he hadn’t been wholly serious, suggested that being that removed would make any possible relations more...excusable. Should things go south, they wouldn’t be forced into close quarters like he and Sakura had been.

But his pride also tells him it’s a dumb idea if only because he knows his father will give him shit about it.

Scowling to himself, Sasuke glances at his phone - he’d better get going, or he’s going to be late.

He can’t avoid her forever.

Thankfully it’s a short drive to the proper building, and then an elevator ride to the right floor. It’s already bustling - any day a new client comes to have talks, it’s all the executive department can talk about. Itachi’s already agreed to brief him on it - it’s rather last minute, arranged over the weekend and only confirmed yesterday morning.

...to his honest surprise, she’s already there.

Back to him, she’s fishing through a file cabinet by her desk. The top drawer is just a little too tall for her, stood on her tiptoes to peer into it. She’s got a pencil skirt, a dark purple in color that matches the jacket she has on. Dark leggings run all the way down to her shoes, which have just a hint of heel (and yet still not enough to see what she’s looking for). While it had been down yesterday, her hair is caught up in a neat bun this morning.

To his own aggravation, he finds himself subtly giving her backside a glance. He can’t really help himself - that skirt is just -

“Aha!”

Startled from his staring, Sasuke makes to appear as though he’s just approaching, watching as Hinata fetches a file folder before closing the drawer and smiling. “Find what you you were looking for?”

It’s her turn to jump a bit, not expecting him to be so close. “O-oh! Mr. - um...Sasuke! You got a flag from your brother asking you to look over some, um...some forms that pertain to your meeting this afternoon. I believe these are the c-correct ones.”

Head tilting in interest, he accepts the file and skims through it. “Seem to be. I’ll double check with him just to be sure. Thanks for digging them out.”

“Of course!”

Shutting the folder, he looks back up to her. “...seems you’re settling in okay. Anything giving you grief yet?”

“Not so far, no...a-any questions I’ve had, your brother’s assistant has been able to help me with! I think I have the hang of the b-basics. I’ve been trying not to bother her too much...I want to try to get the r-rest on my own. Unless, um...unless something pressing comes up, of course. I don’t want to waste any of your time -”

“It’s fine. It’s pretty rare anything has less than a day’s turnaround. And if they do, you’ll know, and she can help you.”

A light shade of flustered pink alights her cheeks, and he inwardly curses. “Ah...all right. Well, um...I’ll let you get to it! Your brother wanted you to l-look over those forms sometime before this afternoon, so...I don’t want to distract you.”

“All right - I’ll page you if anything else comes up.”

“Got it!”

Taking the file with him, he closes the door to his office and sets it on his desk, standing for a moment with a heavy sigh.

...this isn’t going well. It isn’t going well at all. Why did it have to be her out of anyone in billing? She’s so damn distracting! And not in bad ways, he just...really doesn’t need this right now. Any other time…

A hand reaches and eases at the tension in his brow. Well...best he start going over the paperwork. He rarely has to do much in meetings like this - mostly just pay attention and help make sure nothing is awry - another pair of eyes and ears. But Itachi seems a bit more serious about this one than usual, so...best he put in the effort.

And maybe it’ll help get other things off his mind...

     (This is a sequel to day 262!)      The sequel no one saw coming xD I know continuing this one - especially almost 100 days later - is SUPER random, but I couldn't NOT do something office related with a prompt like 'file folder' lol - and I like this concept anyway =w=      Poor Sasuke. He goes from a not-great hookup with one secretary (and getting in trouble for it) to having one even CUTER and more appealing show up! He just can't catch a break! Well...maybe once she goes back to billing, he can give this a shot. Otherwise, his pride (and his dad xD) won't stand for it.      Anywho, I'm still UBER behind, like...17? 18 days? I can't math, but uh...a lot. idk if I'll really have time to do much catching up before the end of the year, but obviously at least SOME of it will spill over into 2020. Whoops? Can't really be helped though, life has just been too much to keep up here like I wanted, but...I won't get too much into that. This was Dec 5's prompt, and uh...well, it's 3am, so it's technically the 23 here, so...yeah, I'm very behind :'D But I'll finish up whenever I can - just wanted to reiterate that, aha~      But for now, it's late, as always...I need to sleep. Jeremiah 42:1-44:23, 2 Timothy 2:1-21, Psalms 92:1-93:5, Proverbs 26:3-5

Today is the 23rd day of October. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I’m Brian. It is great to be here with you today as we continue our journey through the Scriptures and our journey into this, the fourth quarter of the year, the final stretch. It doesn't seem like it now, but we've all been through this before we know how the end of the year speeds up. And, so, yeah, we’re in the final quarter of the year and nearing the end of the 10th month of the year. And as busy as life might get in this final stretch there…the Bible gets busy in this final stretch too. There’s a lot for us. And, so, let's get to it. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. Jeremiah chapter 42 verse 1 through 44. Verse 23.

Commentary:

Okay. So, when we talked about second Timothy we talked about how that we believe this is the last writing of the apostle Paul's life and because it's a personal letter, one of the pastoral letters, so written not to a church, but to a person it has many personal thoughts in it, but it's also instructing Timothy as a pastor, as a spiritual leader, and knowing that this…this is the last thing that Paul's gonna write down, knowing that this letter was written right around the time of his death, his martyrdom, then we know that what he put in this letter meant something. Like, this mattered to Paul because he was hoping to see Timothy, he was hoping to say all these things, but this letter’s written in case he doesn't, and he didn't. So, these instructions matter to Paul and understanding that gives us a sense of the urgency, that Paul is saying something that needs to be paid attention too. So, in our reading today Paul is encouraging Timothy to endure, which means that you're actively participating in endurance. So, Timothy had proven trustworthy. Like, he was loyal, Paul trusted him, trusted him as he was loyal to Paul but also trusted him that he was loyal to Jesus. And Paul had passed the faith on to Timothy and on to many people. And this passing on of the faith was gonna cost Paul his life. So yes, this needed to matter, Timothy was gonna have to endure because now there's an Emperor in Rome who hates the Christians. And, so, persecution is breaking out everywhere. So, Timothy was going to need to endure whatever was coming, but he was also going to need to pass on the faith to people who were trustworthy and loyal as he had been, people who could carry it forward because, although the ultimate future was absolute, the interim, right, the in between, what was gonna happen next was unknown. So, like Paul's in prison. He had taken the gospel all over the known world. So, enduring was pretty much all…all there was left for Paul to do so. So, the Empire was beginning to systematically persecute and root out Christians and Paul was a ringleader of the sect. So, he's pretty much assured that he's not gonna make it out alive. Outside of a miracle he’s likely gonna die. And, so, with his own mortality, like constantly on his mind, Paul could see what was coming and what the church at large might be facing. And he knew how difficult that was gonna and he knew that endurance was gonna be something that became essential if the faith were to survive. So, here’s something really interesting from…from what we read today. As he's talking to Timothy about enduring and being true, Paul quoted an ancient declaration. It might've…might've been like put to music, it might be one of the earliest like sets of lyrics that we have from an early worship song that was sung in the early church before the Gospels were written, but maybe it wasn't a worship song. Like we don't know, we don’t have the sheet music. It could have been simply like a creed, a declaration. It's still important though, So, like when Paul wrote this letter, it's near the end of his life. But we have to understand that when this letter was written there wasn't anything known as the New Testament. So, as a pastor receiving the letter from Paul, all Timothy could have referred to in church would been the Torah, right, the Hebrew Scriptures, Paul's other letters that he had sent to Ephesus where Timothy was, maybe copies of other letters that had been sent to other churches and were passed around, and his personal letters. And it it's a fact, most biblical scholars agree that the gospel of Mark, the first gospel written, was written like right around the time of Paul's death, which is right around the time of this letter. And the idea of a New Testament that is authoritative scripture, that had not...that…that was in formation that was not a thing yet. So, when Paul quotes this little creed or this…these lyrics to this song of worship, he was giving us a glimpse into what…what the brothers and sisters were declaring before any of the books of the New Testament had been collected together at all. So, it gives us this really brief but potent glimpse at what…what Christians…what people following the way of Jesus in a church that had been established by the apostle Paul, what they felt was important to declare to one another before there was a New Testament for them to refer to. So, this is found in second Timothy 2:11-13. “If we have died with Him, we will also live with Him. If we endure, we will also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He will also deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful.” So, it's fascinating that the earliest believers, like the believers in Jesus who believed in Christ before there was the New Testament, like this is mind-boggling to even think of that and how one would navigate that because we have become so accustomed to turning there first, but just like Paul talked about Abraham preceding the Mosaic law, we have to understand that there were things going on before there was a New Testament and they were Christian things, they were Holy Spirit involved things in the world. So, it's interesting that as we get this little snippet from Paul, seeing what our brothers and sisters were declaring to one another, endurance is like at the base level, earliest part of the Christian faith. And this is as a good time to point out as any because we’re gonna be talking about it a lot, endurance. The fact that we must endure and remain true, as we will see as we continue the journey through the New Testament is utterly irreplaceable and absolutely essential in this faith walk that we are on. We’ll find that it serves a purpose and we’re supposed to cultivate it and we’re supposed to understand that enduring and staying true to Jesus no matter what…what happens at all, no matter what happens is essential to our faith.

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into that. And it’s been mentioned before, but we understand that this theme of endurance is definitely something that is gonna keep cropping up and popping up and confronting us continually. And we confess and when we think about that word it’s like not something that we sign up for and it's something that we try to avoid if we possibly can. And yet we’re finding out in the story of the early church that there was no avoiding endurance. It was actually “the” thing that was knitting everything together and that we are commanded to endure. And, so, help us Holy Spirit because we want to avoid that when we actually need to kinda get familiar with the concept. So, we invite Your Holy Spirit into that as we continue our journey forward and we pray that You would help us stay true and endure today. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Father God I just come before You and I just besiege You on behalf of Cindy that You would be her shield and buckler protecting her from all the incredible fiery darts she’s endured all these years, accusations, blaming, shaming. I pray Father God that You would open the eyes of her heart to know what You think of her, that she’s clothed in the robe of righteousness that Jesus has provided and that You would encourage her Lord that she would have hinds feet on high places, that she can be free Lord in her relationship with You feeling so loved. Fill her up with Your love Lord. Open the eyes of our heart to really see and know that You don’t not shame her and blame her, that You love her unconditionally, covenantaly. I pray that You would encourage her and give her space Lord to walk and feel that love from You Lord and that she would be renewed and that You would give her…renew her strength with like the wing and be able to fly like the wings…with the wings of Eagles. Bless that dear woman. And I also pray for Jessica who is separated by the ocean with her husband. Good morning, I am calling to encourage Cindy who plays the flute who is so concerned about things not shifting. Cindy, I…as I listen to you tell the truth about where you are at I wanted to…feel impressed by the Holy Spirit to call and let you know that although you’re seeing things that are stable and steady over time, things that don’t shift as a negative, an undesirable thing, I want you to also look for an equal amount of things that do not shift and that that is a good thing. There are so many things in your faith, in your walk with God that have not shifted that are…they’re supposed to stay stable. God never changes. His faithfulness is there for us. His mercies are there for us every morning. He always provides our daily bread. You have been faithful you said for over 40 years as a believer. That is never to shift. We look at what is steady and supposed to be steady. That is what you look at to get the feelings of whether you’ve been successful at this or not. Do not look at the external things of this world. Look at the things of God and draw your strength from that. I know there’ll be others who will call and pray but I just really felt impressed to give you that word. We love you. You’re going to be just fine. You are steady.

Good morning this is Yvonne, EV for short calling from New York, New York City. It’s a long overdue call. I’m calling to thank Brian and his wife Jill and the entire family and the staff at DAB for their obedience and for their commitment and their love for the things of the Lord. I want to say that over the 10 years I have been listening…it…the Holy Spirit has really used it to minister to my life. Good morning DABbers this is His Messenger in upstate New York and I just wanted to, it’s 19 October and I just heard Cindy the flute players prayer request as well as the prayer request for the young lady whose husband is currently in Spain from Iran and there separated, she’s nine weeks pregnant. And I just want to tell you guys that my heart reaches out both of you. Cindy, I know how hard it is when we feel that things aren’t moving and we’re staying the course and we’re just trying to be steadfast in the race and run the race that God has put in front of us but I can tell you that it’s…it’s not easy but we have to stay the course. You know, I…I asked for prayer recently for my wife and I and that, you know, she can feel loved, that she can feel that she can trust me with our kid even though I’ve never done anything to hurt him as far as I know. And, you know, it just doesn’t feel like anything’s changing, you know, and it’s hard. So, it just stay the course. And I just want to pray real quick before I’m out of time. Guys join me in prayer that Father, He can give us the strength. We love You and You’ve done so much for us. You give us each and every day as a blessing, You give us each breath as a blessing. And Father sometimes it’s so hard when we don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But just give us the strength. Give our marriages the strength to overcome, to fight back against the enemy and to just be able to carry Your kingdom forward. Just give us Your peace. We put it in Your hands. My name is Sean from Charlotte North Carolina and as I’m reading today this Daily Audio Bible reading along with Brian from Jeremiah 33, I was just thinking about all the people who have…have…and those that I know and even myself who have regrets about their life and where they are and where they have been but those that I’ve spoken to recently and heard on the Daily Audio Bible and the prayer list just want to pray for them, particularly verse 10 of 33 where it says, “this is what the Lord says. In this place which you say is a ruin without man or beast that is in Judah’s cities and Jerusalem’s streets that are in desolation without man without inhabitants and without beasts they’ll be herd again at the sound of joy and gladness. Noise from the bridegroom and the bride and the voice of those saying, praise the Lord of hosts for the Lord is good, His faithful love endures forever.” So, I pray that for those out there who are struggling with where they are right now in their…in their lives where they have, as Israel and Judah were…have…the destruction is around them. Whether they’ve caused it themselves or others have, God says that He will restore what we see is a ruin. I pray Father that those who see their lives as a ruin, that see their lives as just destroyed and no hope that they would be able to say soon, “praise the Lord of hosts for the Lord is good. His faithful love endures forever.” And as they bring offerings to the temple of the Lord You will restore the fortunes of the land…

Hi DAB family this is Aaron from Oklahoma. Quick update. I had my PO hearing a couple days ago and I guess my wife is…she said that she’s requested to an attorney. I have an attorney. So, we just extended everything until 14th of November. So, I still haven’t talked to my wife since she cheated on me. I just hope that you would lift her up and lift me off we go through this. And I just want to give you an update with what’s going on. Nothing’s really changed my life. Cindy, today’s I believe the 19th and I heard you questioning your faith. Listen, listen man. That’s the one thing you and I both know you can’t do. Our lives may just…just…just wrecks and I feel you. I don’t care whether it’s noon or midnight…it…my whole world is dark right now. But I hold onto the one thing, God will get us through this and you know what, He has got…we’re gonna be so much stronger when we get on the other side of this. Security in times of trouble
