I hate that stupid fucking Alaska Airlines commercial. It’s so blatantly obvious how little resources they have. The have one of the guys from Queer Eye. No offense to that specific guy from queer eye, I’m sure he’s a lovely guy who donates to chairty and is nice to puppies, but one of the guys most known for a show that ended like, 6 years okay or something?! He’s not even the most famous member of queer eye. I had to look him up twice, because I kept forgetting his name and his name is Tan France! Legitatemly the worst name I’ve ever heard.

That however, is just the tip of the iceberg. That iceberg is a frozen hellscape of a laughably bad inability to stuff any well known or culturally relevant things or people into their “care coilition”. They have, a CareBear, Mother Nature, a Grandma, a Dog, a Snuggie, Mother Nature, and that’s it. Now, all of these are absolutely delightful except maybe carebears and snuggies. There’s wrong with these, but it’s a commercial. All of these are either boringly obvious, or weird in a very boring sense. Like, the grandma is just “Grandma”. Who is she the grandma of? Also, I’m sure the woman they cast is a very lovely lady. But she did not give off Grandma vibes. The only person who gives off grandma vibes is my grandma, and that’s why they made a mistake. If you put a grandma in a commercial, and intend her to represent all grandmas, she’s not going to measure up. Everybodies favorite grandmas are their own. 

Moving on, Snuggies? Also, why does the Snuggie look like the worlds most low effort Muppet? Why, why all of this? No one thinks about Snuggies anymore. What is this, the 80s, or the 90s, or the 2000s, I don’t even know when Snuggies were culturally relevant. I don’t know if they ever were.

Also, why does the Grandma have a southern accent? 

Also, why does Mother Nature have such creepy eyes? She looks like she’s from the fricking Witcher.

Also, this commercial has a joke. it’s the least sensical joke I’ve ever heard. Las Vegas is not comparable to Carealot or wherever the Care Bears live. it is not a magical land where anything is possible. No one is pro-Vegas. Vegas is the Michael Jackson on cities. Due that what you will (I know what you’re thinking, wouldn’t it be the Elvis of cities? No, Columbus, Ohio is the Elvis of cities). 

It’s not a funny joke, and to be fair, it’s not an annoyingly unfunny joke. However, I have that joke approxiamtely infinite times. Hearing the same joke that many times is not pleasant at all.

I've been on adhd reddit a lot lately and it's pretty clear that a lot of adhd people are very eager not to be associated with autistic people which bums me out so much because 1) the world would be a significantly worse place without autistic people 2) in my experience I have a lot more in common (in terms of Brain Experience) with autistic people than I do with neurotypical people and 3) the "don't associate me with autistic people" attitude imo pretty often originates from internalized ableism and adhd ppl not accepting their own neurodiversity/wanting to distance themselves from their own condition for the approval of nt people.

Autistic people and adhd people have so much in common!! Sensory issues, hyperfixation/hyperfocus, social struggles etc. There's a reason it's so common for people to have both conditions, our lived experiences overlap a lot. I really do believe if we're going to make any progress we need to support each other however we can. Autism/adhd solidarity babey!!!!!!!!!

I don't doubt you know the severity of climate change, most of us have an idea. But if we all really let it sink in we would ALL be crying and panicking. That's no way for us to live. We need to stop pretending we are frogs in a boiling pot of water- we are already cooked we are on the plate ready to be devoured. For everyone who wants to participate in radical direct action for the environment PLEASE join a coilition- like just stop oil in the UK for example. Find an environmental activist group in your country and figure out how you can help them get wins, I promise you will find your niche in a group and you can help. We can all help if we try. It's too hard to do this on our own, find strength in solidarity and use your power as a part of a whole to make a change. We need to disrupt normalcy and prevent further complacency. People are really afraid to do something other than just put up a sign (those types of protests don't really do anything, we can see that) and I don't blame them, no one asked for this, but we NEED to do something NOW. I care about you guys so much and I don't want the end of our lives to be sweltering on an inhabitable planet. Mass arrests work, disturb the lives of the rich, remain nonviolent.

I just finished reading Wolfsong by T.J. Klune and.... oh boy. wow. 

There was a really good found family trope all the way through, as well as like love, trust, and friendship being the basis for good leadership and family bonds. It was dramatic in all the right places, it was smutty too, well in two places but still. It /really/ reads like a very weird Sterek/tw au. I was surprised how much I was imagining them instead of the two characters because it really fits that “hyperactive little boy” and “broody big boy” dynamic they have. Even as they grow, you can see how while Joe grows to be sadder and more serious it parallels Stiles a lot, and Ox is Derek to a T, with added Daddy Issues.

Outside of this, I thought Klune’s characterizations of werewolves was very believable and fit all the little specifics I like from werewolf things. He explores larger pack dynamics and the idea of a national (maybe internatinal) coilition of werewolvese that keep in contact with each other. I really enjoyed Gordo as a character. I think he served a lot of little roles that really add up and make him a good well rounded character. His dad/brother relationship with Ox is great, and his powers as a witch are obviously very helpful. 

While I think that it was good  there was also a few thinks I really didn’t like about it, which makes me hesitant to read the next couple of books in the series. There were three women and two are insanely passive and the other is being set up as a future villain? literally everyone else was a man and all the Important People were men. Like.. it was a good read, love werewolves ya know, but I think it would have been /very/ easy to make some of those other characters women like, Kelly, the middle werewolf child. I think that would have been cute, Kelly and Robbie. 

The age difference between the the two mains was a little squicky for me. Ox, when he meets Joe is 16, and Joe is 10. Eventually, when they do start ‘dating’ Joe is 17 and Ox is like 22 or 23. Idk, Klune tries to make it obvious that Ox is a good guy by waiting for Joe to be 18 to do anything outside of small dates, but like it also would have been super easier to make their age gap smaller. I don’t really see any part of the plot that would be changed by Ox being like 2 years older than Joe rather than 6. 

I think the plot was a little complicated. The book spans like 13 years or something, so it’s always shifting time and it gets a little fast in some places and slow in others. There was kind of two (maybe three) major plots going on through the book and it was a little much. There was Joe and Ox figuring out how to be in a relationship, the threat of Richard--an omega seeking alpha power and revenge, and Ox being something. Taking a look at the publisher, they publish gay romance, so to get this published Klune had to focus on the romance aspect of it, but the book kept getting interrupted with a, in my opinion, far more interesting plot-Richard’s revenge against humanity. Joe ends up making a very problematic choice that ultimately puts the romance on hold while he searches for Richard. So it really feels like the romance takes a backseat to the rest (the main plot) of the book. 

Ultimately, i’m not sure this book was cute enough for me to want to read the next two. I know they take different narrators and are from the point of view of others in the pack, but I think the overall lack of women in these novels and focus on gay romance rather than the more interesting werewolf dynamics is a no for me. Like I completely understand the importance of the gay romance, representation and all, and I think it can be successfully incorporated in action/drama books like this, but i feel the balancing act that is necessary to do that isn’t in these books. 

Klune has a lot of books, so i’m interested in check the others out to see if the female absence is the norm for him.

Ain’t going to lie, kids. I am not sanguine about voting in the primary in a couple hours. I feel like this is a retread of 2016, just worse on both ends. You’re “establishment” candidate who’s arguably got more actual baggage than Hilary Clinton did with half the smarts and skills. If he wins the primary, he’ll have just as much of the made-up shit.

Your “radical” candidate, well... he’s really made no advances on either his ideas or his plans since 2016. Say all you want, fact remains he hasn’t advanced his Revolution one iota. He’s failed completely to build any sort of consensus or coilition with anyone who wasn’t on board already.

And Bernie Sanders is not some fresh faced ingenue, he’s been an active politician going on two decades. He should know how this shit works. His fanboys may get wood at the whole “the Democrats suck unequivocally but they should vote for me regardless,” but you tell an entire group to suck your dick, they’re libel to have little time for you.

For what it’s worse, this has nothing to do with the bad ol’ “Bernie Bros” we’ve heard so much about. The worst thing I’ll say about the vast bulk of them is, like the MAGAts, they have no idea how politics actually works and thinks “you will bend the knee” will charm the pants off the evil ol’ “centrists”. At worst, they’re the same bunch of clowns that supported Nader and the Greens back in 2000, got beat like a bass drum and sat on their thumbs for four years whining their asses weren’t sufficiently kissed.

If Sanders loses the primary or general, I’ve seen nothing that convinced me they’ll do any different. Get off your ass and organize instead of complaining, and staying at home with a pout does fuck all in the grand scheme of things. You say the DNC isn’t owed your vote, which is true. They also don’t owe you to give you the party when you’re not willing to put in the work to effect any real change or challenge.

It’s 2004 all over again. Or 1984. Or 1968. Like a broken record, but the Doomed just get more and more fucked with less and less reason to go on. Maybe the only option is some form of bloody revolution, maybe that’s where we’re inexorably headed. FDR and LBJ enacted the most sweeping, wide-ranging leftist policies and they did in great part so as to dissuade the poor from hanging the wealthy by their entrails. Maybe that’s the only option we’re giving ourselves.

One of the reasons I’m finding anarchism more and more appealing as I get older is it doesn’t require me to follow some Great Man who’ll lead us to the Holy Land before reality shits in his soup and he does what all of them have to do. Don’t kid yourself, if Sanders was a serious threat to the Powers That Be, he’d be dead in a ditch somewhere. If he does fuck up and get elected, all you faithful followers are going to be sad little children on Christmas morning when he launches his first drone strike or bails out his first bank.

For what it’s worth, I’m voting for Sanders tomorrow in the primary, like I did four years ago. It’s exhausting to think that we had the most diverse pool of possible candidates, some with incredibly forward thinking ideas, and we’re stuck with two septuagenarians who should be elder statesman rather than the last bastion between us and a chaotic right-wing, Evangelical nightmare run by a complete moron and supported by millions of people just waiting for that same moron to give the word so they can unleash unholy hell upon anyone who doesn’t toe the line and bend the knee.

The war with the Galra is coming to a close, after the epic and near death battle with Sendak the paladins of Voltron are in recovery. Rebuilding is in full swing and Shiro is prepping a team to recruit members to the Voltron coilition across the universe. Meanwhile Keith is finally coming to terms with his feelings for a certain paladin. However he may be too late as Lance is finally getting what he’s always wanted, Allura.
