Tim I noticed a lot of indigenous patches on your jacket, are you Native?

Idk what my dad was 'cause I never knew him, but yeah my mom is (or... Was.. I guess..) Muscogee, the tribe native to the part of Alabama I'm in.

If I remember correctly she came to Alabama from Oklahoma (where a lot of Natives were displaced to in the 1800s) to "get back to her roots."

But yknow, I was separated from her in childhood (which tbh is upsettingly common for Native families) and I was raised in a very white very Catholic asylum so I'm not as connected to the culture as I'd like to be.

"He visits sometimes," Click Clack murmurs, his voice carrying a hint of... wistfulness? Regret? "Usually shadowing our Godpoke or on some other volunteer business. He never stays long. I heckled him a bit at the Spire, sure, but I meant what I said. Even now, I still see some of myself in..."

[The God of Storytelling trails off. He looks down at himself to find his body much smaller than it should be.]

I'm gonna say something that 90% of you will hate but it's what's on my heart—now that we've seen Pedro and Vanessa speak in every interview about how this couple is so passionately in love and dedicated to each other and have been married for decades—I wish we could let this be the ONE Pedro character whose fanfic isn't completely overwhelmed by x reader fic instead of even consiiiidering respecting and exploring his canon relationship 😔

I think the fandom's hate for DA2 often forgets that the devs were forced into a like, 15 month development cycle by EA. It was pretty clear in how the game's levels were designed and reused, and it couldn't be polished into something more. But, what we got was a micro-level scale story with macro-scale consequences to the overall story of the series; it was a personal journey of an everyday person and all of their friends living in a shitty city, enduring the impossible stories of grief and change, all while dealing with the overarching consequences of the conflicts caused by a religious-political institution in real time.

Also, DA2 gave us Meredith, who is, by and large, not a god or supernatural entity, but just a woman, who was allowed far too much power that went entirely unchecked during her reign. It's a reflection of real world politicians and military leaders, which therefore makes her the most realistic type of villain in the series (and that's long before they gave her the red lyrium idol to turn her into a Boss Fight™).

Ultimately the other aspects of the games in this series - the level design, the combat, music, etc. - are all going to be subjective, especially when in comparison to the other games / your own personal preferences, but to say that it's just "objectively bad" when the story in and of itself is a departure from the other games where you get put into the role of Designated Hero™, whereas Hawke, for the most part, is Just Some Guy (gender neutral) (and this is also why I enjoy Rook in a similar-ish kind of way, where you accidentally become important at work), is really missing the point of what they were trying to do. I fully stand by the point that if Kirkwall got the DAV environment treatment today, it would be way more popular than it is.

"If you want to improve your spelling, be sure to brush up on your phonics!" He winks at the camera. "For the folks at home, that's the study of knowing which letters make what sounds. Take this sentence here - " The pointer lands on the chalkboard with a resounding thwack! "Notice how all the words that rhyme end with '-ain.' Rain, Spain, plain, et cetera. Ergo, we can assume that most words that rhyme with these also have '-ain' in them. You can apply this practice to other sounds, and once you do, you should be spelling in no time!"

Our god pauses thoughtfully before adding, "And yes, you do have to sit still when you write. I don't like it either, but alas, it's a compromise every artist has to make."

me still chewing on this (i say, apropos of nothing), but it's hard to find the exact words i want to use when i say that emmrich has the vibe of a badly socially adjusted homeschooler? that he's sheltered? i think it's because there's an inherent awkwardness in how he approaches other people - specifically most of the conversations he has with everyone in the lighthouse - verses how he talks to, like, myrna and vorgoth.

i absolutely don't think it's a lack of confidence, at all, when talking to, say, neve or davrin or even rook, but with some of the things he asks, it's clear he can't parse the reasonings for some things? like...they're outside of his realm of experience, or are clearly a bad idea to someone else, or require a certain social understanding he lacks, so he comes across as naive when he's not. he's just...sheltered.

compared to how his conversations with myrna and vorgoth vibe, where he's clearly speaking from a place of experience and knowledge. it sounds less like he's got this really neat factoid he wants to share - because he doesn't have to frame it in that way, there's an understanding between them - and there is some...i guess speaking with authority that he might lack in other things.
