Here is a Rainworld Iterator OC originally created from an inside joke between me and my friend (shout-out to @sneakiestbeakiest for her name) , Two Spheres Ascendant!

-Favorite Thing about them

I really like their relationship to the ancients and how it feeds back into her personality. They’re part of 5 iterators themed after the base urges, and being Karma 2 has given them a very interesting place. She was made to study genetics and conduct breeding programs which is actually very important work, but of course being the Karma 2 iterator means she was generally mocked and laughed at as far as iterators go. This means she’s rather anxious and embarrassed about how she’s perceived, and is nervous about opening up to others. It’s also given them a dislike of their puppet’s appearance and clothes, maybe even their puppet in general

-Least Favorite Thing about them

Honestly, I’m not confident in their design. I feel like it doesn’t fit her personality even if it’s the kind of thing I imagine the ancients would’ve dressed her in. I also think her face doesn’t quite fit her personality and I was thinking maybe her cloak should be closer to a traditional iterator cloak

Sexuality Headcanon: He’s definitely on the bi side of the scale, but I think he skews a lot closer to gay and probably identifies more as gay, especially in the 70s in the circles that he and Armand traveled in. Although I don’t think Daniel has ever been particularly picky about labels applied to him in that sense, either.

Gender Headcanon: Daniel is the opposite of toxic masculinity. He can be masculine and he has body hair for days, but he’s generally soft-spoken and gentle. Cis, but not worried about being manly enough, you know? 

A ship I have with said character: Armand/Daniel is my OTP of all time. I think he and Armand are just two halves of a whole and they make each other better. I absolutely think they’re soulmates in the deepest sense of the word. There’s the joke that Daniel is sort of Armand-sexual but I think it’s sort of true. Armand is the love of his life and the feeling is mutual. 

And sometimes Daniel/Marius? Please don’t hurt me, but I go back and forth on whether I see him and Marius as romantic. The first time I read PL, it felt very platonic. Marius had spent a long time as Daniel’s caregiver and while they’re obviously close and connected, it didn’t read to me as anything romantic and the asexual in me longs for more platonic ships in this fandom. But I think the vampires can have a lot of intimacy without getting hot and heavy (this is true of humans too btw). I do think as a romantic ship, it's hot as hell and tbh I’ve written it both ways. I can enjoy it both ways! But in my personal fanonverse, it’s something I waiver on a lot. I do think they’re good together either way!

A BROTP I have with said character: Daniel and Lestat (it’s a BroTP with benefits, bonus points if it’s with Armand as an OT3). They just have a fun dynamic. They can get into trouble together and cause chaos, but they also sort of even each other out. Daniel allows Lestat to open up a little more than he usually does because he’s a good listener, non-judgemental, and adept at asking the right questions. Lestat allows Daniel to vent about Armand (in an affectionate way - we all need to get things off our chests!) and he appreciates Daniel’s sense of humor and wit. They both liking having fun and doing random shit.

A NOTP I have with said character: I don’t know that I have any real NOTPs with him. Maybe Santino? I don’t personally see him having any sort of romantic relationship with Louis, I see them as being friends who both have great love for Armand, but I’m not bothered by the idea either. 

A random headcanon: When Daniel was recovering from his madness, Armand sent him an iPod when he heard Daniel sometimes got overwhelmed by noise. Daniel became obsessed with the podcasts at the time, mostly radio shows, things like Radio Lab, This American Life, and Stuff You Should Know. After he moves back into Trinity Gate, he and Armand listen to his favorite episodes of these together and have long discussions about them afterward. 

General Opinion over said character: I think Daniel is neat. He’s affable, he’s friendly, he’s good at making conversation. He’s curious and up for almost anything, which is why he and Armand work so well. He’s funny and has a dark, sardonic sense of humor. He laughs easily, maybe too easily, but he’s pretty easy to get along with. He’s generally pretty agreeable but he isn’t afraid to speak up when necessary. He’s a cool dude. I dig him.

OKAY. OKAY. its been a while since ive rambled on this account so today im going to clear up how i see itapan so that no one gets confused when i say “i dont think they would ever date” and then proceed to draw them making out or whatever.

when you hear “one sided itapan” you might think italy has the stronger feelings (because he’s the one approaching and hugging and kissing japan or whatever) but i feel that it’s actually japan with the stronger feelings.

when italy’s affectionate towards japan, its not because he’s necessarily attracted to him, but that’s just how he behaves. i think that he’s kind of trying to lead him on so japan is nicer to him. italy has been coddled his entire life like he’s been taken care of by austria and hungary and spain and france and germany and literally everyone loves him. and he KNOWS that everyone loves him so he purposefully babies himself to others so he can get even more special treatment. hes an annoying little asshole who uses his good looks and weakness to get out of trouble and i love it!!!

throughout the series (both in anime, manga, and a little in hetamyu), japan actually grows a bit of a soft spot for italy because of how weak and pathetic he makes himself seem. at first he’s polite and awkward because he idolized italy to be strong and capable, but once his expectations are SHATTERED he gradually begins to want to take care of him in a way. he doesn’t get mad at him as often and sometimes even defends him when germany is upset or lecturing him (like in hetalia fantasia). he tucks him in bed and lets him sleep on his chest and share a bed and bathe together and do the gayest shit ever. i probably would’ve thought “well thats because he’s too polite to refuse” but he ACTIVELY wants to do this stuff with him. he puts a hand on his back to keep him in place when he rests on his chest. he visits italy often and loves to cook with/for him. he wants to learn how to hug and kiss him back even after italy says its fine. he writes him letters and a SONG where he asks italy to visit him and gives him a pressed flower bookmark. japan goes out of his way to return italy’s affection and spend time with him while italy just does it because he’s italy.

i dont really think it’s a “sad” one-sided crush because in the end they’re still friends! they still both care about each other and confide in one another and hang out. italy isnt just affectionate to japan because he wants to lead him on and get more special treatment, but because they’re friends and he does still like him platonically! they can act like a couple without actually BEING one and thats insane!!! i love that shit!!!!!

ive mentioned how itager/gerita was my first hetalia ship and it still stands as one of my favorites. the problem is that im PICKY with it because i dont like a lot of the fandoms’ interpretations of them. i guess i wasnt as picky with itapan and liked it simultaneously with (although much more than) itager. but when i rewatched all of hetalia over the spring i realized how much MORE i liked itapan in the context of itager, which kind of blew my mind. like i remember mentioning to some itapan friends how i think they would never date and i still stand with that today. like italy and germany are too busy trying to win eachother over and they would just get together instead. japan actually likes his friends though and wants them to be happy so he would just go “ok” and move on while still doing all that gay shit with them. i guess jt makes itapan more of a brotp but it doesnt make it any less enjoyable for me. i LIKE to see them hanging out and being friends and dont really mind fanart where they’re dating or whatever because i can just pretend that they’re not!

So Nepeta fancies herself as a bit of a matchmaker, does she? It looks like she even catalogues the platonic ships - or at least, I assume that’s what the diamonds represent.

I basically never talk about shipping on this blog - it’s not really my thing. But, just for fun, let’s look at this chart for a bit. 

Karkat x Nepeta is something she ships herself. He didn’t seem all that friendly towards her in their one conversation, but his name does contain ‘cat’, after all. Nepeta knows what she likes.

Aradia x Equius is an incipient disaster in the making. I still can’t fucking believe what he just did. Nepeta claims she didn’t expect it, but it’s front-and-center on her wall, so I think she did ship it.

Gamzee x Terezi is a weird one. Terezi seems to find him genuinely annoying, so I think I’ll echo Nepeta’s ‘probably not’. 

GA x Tavros is pointless to talk about because Tavros isn’t Rose Lalonde. 

I think the top-left ship is Terezi x Vriska. Nepeta doesn't ship it, but I think it’s one worth keeping an eye on. They do have that arch-rivalry thing going on, and we all know how that story goes. 

As for the BrOTPs:

Karkat + Gamzee is interesting - Karkat calls Gamzee his best friend in a conversation that makes it clear he can’t stand him. Maybe if Karkat’s able to get over his neuroses, this relationship might be a little healthier. Nepeta, for her part, seems to find the prospect intriguing. 

Sollux + Aradia is something I’m rooting for. Now that she’s got her emotions back, they might be able to reconcile properly, and he can help her with this Equius situation.

Equius + Nepeta isn’t as creepy as I initially thought it was - but I still don’t like how lopsided their relationship is. Hopefully Equius can get over himself a little, and they can be friends on more equal terms.  

The last one looks like GA + Karkat. They haven’t interacted yet, but they’re two of the nicest trolls around, and I could easily see them as good friends.

Jackie & Hyde or Donna & Hyde

Aside from the grossness in early s1 and how in the later seasons the writers used Hyde as a mouthpiece for the bs “Eric is not good enough for Donna” narrative, I really like their friendship. The way Hyde cheers up Donna after her mom leaves and after Eric leaving Donna at the altar. Very sweet moments.

Jackie and Hyde as a brotp would be great too, if Hyde/Melissa & Jackie/Eric (or Jackie/anyone but Kelso and Fez) were a thing and they were each other’s soft spots, I’d adore that. But I ship them more romantically and want them to stay together forever lol.

Jackie & Kelso or Donna & Kelso

I liked Jackie and Kelso’s friendship in s6-7 when Kelso actually moved on from Jackie. They were just platonic, nothing more. And both grew a lot since s1 and it showed.

Donna and Kelso…they have their moments but the way Kelso gropes Donna constantly is gross to me. I know Kelso was awful to Jackie as well, but I feel like more when he felt entitled to her romantically/when they’re together rather than as friends.

Jackie & Eric or Donna & Eric

I like both dynamics a lot so I can’t really choose. I do like the concept of Eric and Donna being best friends while happy with other people. Because even before being romantic, they were best friends who had a lot in common and were compatible. It’d actually be interesting to see what would’ve happened if Eric and Donna not getting back together and moving on. (I still love them being endgame and having their happy ending, don’t get me wrong lol)

Jackie and Eric have a lot of potential imo (platonic and romantically but this is about platonic lol). I like the scene where Eric stands by Jackie and says he wants her in the basement. And Jackie going wedding shopping with Eric. They can deny it all they want, but Eric and Jackie definitely care a lot about one another.

Jackie & Fez or Donna & Fez

Honestly this was hard because both gross me out and I hate Fez to my fucking core. But I think Jackie & Fez had better friend potential than Donna & Fez did. In s6-7, they had some pretty great moments together. I do think them living together in s8 wasn’t a bad idea, but it’s the fact that it was used to push them as a romantic couple that was like ‘ew’.

Sexuality Headcanon: idk why but I feel like he’s on the gray side of asexual, and probably aro 🤔 like obviously having kids is important to him but it’s always in the context of the genophage and securing a future for the krogan, rather than any overt interest in sexuality or sexual acts just for the heck of it, I feel? I can’t think of any obvious instances where he ever flirted or indicated any actual interest outside of a very practical one, and his chemistry with Bakara always felt a bit queer platonic to me. Don’t have to be sex negative or repulsed to still be on that spectrum, after all

Gender Headcanon: cis male

A ship I have with said character: Bakara, as in canon haha. I just like the two of them together and think they’re well suited for what they want to accomplish together, and I think there’s a good amount of mutual respect that goes into it

A BROTP I have with said character: Wrex and Shepard for sure, but I also love his relationship with Tali. I believe there’s a line somewhere in I wanna say 3 that indicates he taught her how to use and/or gave her a krogan style shotgun and I love that idea so much. OR the fifth, but i can't hate any of them because they still have value and i find glimpses of intriguing plot points i wish could be explored. the ninja tribunal arc has creative ideas but falls flat when they want to bring up shredder
