seventeen, boyfriend headcanons ⋆ ﹕₊˚ things about dating jeon wonwoo !

a/n: boy do i love me some BOYFRIEND!WONU!!! if we're talking about a long-term, sweet boyfriend who adores and supports you until the end of time? i'm thinking of this man. word count: 0.4k genre: fluff wonwoo would take personal responsibility for keeping your hands warm in the winter. if you're out and about, he'd slip your joined hands into his coat pocket while offering his spare glove for your other hand. sometimes it isn't as deliberate. sometimes, you and wonwoo would be sitting on the couch, watching tv or otherwise, when his hand would inevitably reach out to take yours. maybe he's just looking for little ways to be a little closer to you. when your hand is cold to his touch, he'd bring your hand up towards him, pressing your fingertips to his lips and shifting to hold your palm to his warm cheek. it doesn't take long for him to realize what he's doing, but he's still left feeling a bit shy nonetheless. in his embarrassment, your hand would leave his as he opts for pulling you towards him, wanting to hide his face in your hair or shoulder to escape any teasings from you. notoriously known as the one who is the worst at sharing, wonwoo finds that his significant other is his lovely exception. like a child, he pulls his food out of harm's way when another member asks for a bite, but with you, he's more than willing to share the first bite. if he's the one to take the first bite, it's just so he can ensure the quality of the dish before making a little portion for you to try, too! seungkwan calls it favoritism, but wonwoo couldn't care less. it just makes him so happy seeing you happy. he greatly values the concept of sharing your lives together. since you cannot be together all the time, you guys keep each other updated through random photos and clips that you take throughout the day. it doesn't have to incredibly interesting or mind-blowing, but it's the effort that makes his heart sing. he loves getting photos of your view from your desk or of the tree that you saw on your way to work. am i convinced that he'd collect these photos to curate into an album to gift to you for an anniversary? YEP! in the same way, he also loves hearing you talk. allowing him to be there while you're indulging in your own musings is his favorite way to feel more connected to you. you could go off on tangents in the middle of your ramblings and sweet wonwoo would just thoughtfully hum along in vague agreement, maybe offering a question every once in a while to let you know that he's still listening. even if he doesn't initially understand a thing about the intricacies of your job or favorite hobby, he still loves being included in the conversation. he would remember random little facts that you told him weeks ago, catching you both off guard and giving you both a good laugh!

Okay, the first time I watched DS9 I was no fan of Kira/Odo - I hadn't been expecting it, and thought she could do better XD

But now I've rewatched most of the show, it's actually grown to be one of my favourite canon ships. And this line from Covenant just really got to me with how lovely it is:

And I have to admit, I fully thought he was going to say something along the lines of "I wish you would spend that time with me". BUT NO. I should have trusted you Odo, because he actually says:

And like, there's just so many layers of his care for her??

He's saying, "I want to spend more time with you, even if it's in a space where it wouldn't be about spending time together, just because I like being near you."

And also, "If I could, I'd give up my own time, just to be in the same place you've chosen to be."

But despite wanting to, he won't, because there's also an unspoken element of "I respect your beliefs and wouldn't want to intrude on them without having the same belief."

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but I don't think L would've revealed his face to Light if the latter wasn't Kira. The Kira case was the only case in which L shows his identity to anyone besides Watari because it's the first time he (and his authority) has been challenged like this (with the majority of the Japanese task force leaving since they can't trust L coz of the FBI incident).

If Light weren't Kira and went on to become an NPA officer like his father, he might work with L on some cases together but that doesn't mean L would've revealed his identity to him, however intelligent this particular NPA officer may be.

Like I ship Lawlight very much and I'm not (in this post, that is) referring to anyone exploring the idea of non-Kira!Light with L in their AUs as bad (I like those AUs too), but let's remember that it wouldn't be plausible if we're going by canon. Even if Ohba said somewhere that they'd work together if Light weren't Kira, I'm sure he didn't mean working together as in face-to-face.

5. What personality trait do they love the most about each other?

Oh, this is a fun one!

Seto loves how sweet and forgiving Ryou is. It makes no sense for him to be this kind or want to see the good in others, especially after everything he's been through, but he does, and Seto marvels at it a little.

Seto loves Duke's fearlessness. He's intimidated by nobody and nothing, ashamed of almost nothing, and he likes how spunky that makes him. Kaiba is pretty intimidating himself, and he kinda likes that one of his boyfriends is completely immune to it. It makes things very entertaining.

Ryou loves and admires Seto's unstoppable, unyielding willpower. This man is relentless, and Ryou can't relate to that, and he's kind of enchanted by it.

Ryou loves Duke's playfulness and positivity. He's not exactly optimistic, but he's a generally positive person, and it's a huge ray of sunshine in Ryou's life. Ryou is a cat just basking in Duke's presence.

Duke loves Ryou's vivid imagination. Sometimes it runs wild, and his eyes sparkle whenever he's deep into his story/character/scenario, and Duke thinks it's precious.

Duke loves Seto's genius brain and his technical prowess, and especially loves watching him do his inventing thing. The tinkering, the tools, Duke relates to it with his own tinkering.

Generally speaking, Duke loves to watch his boys when they're in the zone.

17. What do they have in common?

They all have a game obsession, and it's a different game for all of them. They all have abusive complicated relationships with their fathers. They all have missing mother figures. They all need to let go of their past so that they can truly move forward in a healthy way towards happiness. They all have a deep passionate side, even if it's not usually the forefront of their personalities.

21. Are they interested in having children? Why or why not?

I think Kaiba has a very complicated relationship with children/the idea of children, but he could be talked into it. There's fear of the repeating abuse cycles (and the past, generally), fear of failure, fear of loss. It's Seto's idea to adopt though, once they've all agreed to having kids, and Ryou agrees immediately. Duke is a bit more attached to the idea of "that's a little piece of me" or "that's a little piece of my beloved" running around; he wants that blood tie to his kid in some form; it's just a subconscious thing for him. He gets talked into adoption though.

40. Who tries to distract the other when they’re trying to do something else?

Duke is guilty of doing this on purpose more than anyone else. He can be needy for attention sometimes, that's just how it goes. Ryou is more likely to be distracting by accident, either just from being in the room and making it impossible for Seto to focus on work because he's just too cute bending over the shelves looking for new books, or Duke's finding it impossible to look at anything but Ryou when he's supposed to be paying attention to making dinner.

50. Who would protect who in a dangerous situation?

Kaiba's fear of loss (and inability to process it) makes him the most overprotective man in the universe. When his family is threatened, he pulls everyone into his mansion and shuts down the property with more security than Nanba Prison. He will not let anyone hurt the ones he loves. He was distracted in the past which led to Mokuba coming to harm a few times, and he's learned from his mistakes. This also means he's a little... controlling. In a dangerous situation though, he's the number one protector.

Duke is also pretty protective in his own right. We've seen him come to his friends' defense before (Serenity, Mai, Rebecca, Tristan), if anybody's in trouble he jumps right in. He's physically protective of Ryou, ofc, but he's also protective of Kaiba and Kaiba's reputation, so that manifests in a way that Ryou and Kaiba don't usually get to see. If anybody's hanging around The Black Clown and starts shit-talking Kaiba, Duke steps out from behind the counter or from his office to have words with them.

Which isn't to say that Ryou wouldn't protect them if he was given the chance, but he's very rarely in the position to do so. But Ryou is probably the most protective of Mokuba. (All the boys are protective of Mokuba, though.)

i think it would be pretty consistent of jeonghan to be the type of boyfriend to randomly kiss you throughout the day. his favorite reason to offer after planting one on you is 'just because.' it's a cheeky answer, but that's all he gives you. he offers no further explanations! you could chase after him and demand an excuse, but he would just smile, shrug, and lean over to kiss the tip of your nose. sometimes he's just feeing a little more sweet than usual, and other times, he's just looking for a reason to be close to you. let us just take a moment to appreciate the concept of jeonghan half-whining, half-requesting you to give him a quick little smooch when he's playing soccer with the members. have you seen this guy play? according to him, he's the type to put in 110% into the first half of the game, leaving him feeling ABSOLUTELY drained in the second half. knowing that you're there, he'd jog up to where you're watching, and he'd practically throw himself down next to you. on any normal day, jeonghan can be pretty damn convincing, but it isn't every day that you have the upper hand on the yoon jeonghan. as his significant other, you'd have a grand ol' time making sure that he gets a taste of his own medicine. however, just a few seconds before the game resumes, after you leave a peck on his sweaty cheek, he would make a show of running back to the field with a newfound sense of energy and purpose! when his team wins at the end of the night, he'd be annoying as all hell when telling his members that all his goals were made possible because of his lucky charm, you, his trusty water bottle. i also wouldn't put it past him to come up with bets/competitions as a way of claiming kisses from you. what's worse is that he actively chooses to not tell you about them! he just likes winning. you guys could be wandering around the grocery store when you hear him go 'AHA!' from a few aisles over. after a moment of unsettling silence, you'd hear the sound of rushing footsteps towards your general direction. when he finally spots you innocently standing in one of the aisles, he'll be sporting a smug look as he holds a bag of your favorite cookies over his head, looking like the picture of victory. he'd declare that since he was the first one to find the cookies, he would like to formally redeem his prize for a kiss from his favorite significant other. you're both more than aware that you're his only significant other, but that doesn't stop you from being his most favorite. now pucker up, nobody likes a sore loser.

Kira and Julian in Life Support

Feelings 1:

Bareil, as far as I can see, has never called her Major on screen, called her Kira a few times before they got together and then called her Nerys very consistently, notably in The Collaborator. But in this episode, he doesn't call her by name once. But when he wakes up from the brain surgery, this happens:

"Bareil?" "Yes, Major?"

AND I AM SO DEVASTATED FOR HER.

Feelings 2:

Just Kira and Julian's whole interactions with each other:

(For context: Julian usually calls her Major; "Kira!" has been used once when rescuing her, and "Nerys" once when he was flirting. Kira usually calls him "Doctor"; "Julian" has been used on three occasions, once under duress when he was flirting, twice when she was protesting his orders to take a break.)

Julian breaks the news that Bareil has died

"Thank you Doctor. I'm on duty in Ops. Excuse me." "Kira. I think they can get along without you in Ops today."

Kira slides into her usual formality, since she's using work to distract from grief. Julian drops his usual formality and gently calls her by a friendly, but not intimate name.

When he is debating the first brain surgery with Kira and Winn

"I think she's right, Julian. I think Bareil would want the positronic implants." "Kira, if I go through with this, the man who wakes up may not be the man you used to know." "I realise that, but I know how important this is to him, and I know he wouldn't want to just be put into stasis indefinitely, waiting for some medical solution that may never come. Do the surgery, Julian. Let him finish what he started."

Kira begins to his name as she tries to persuade him. Julian continues to call her Kira; almost unthinkingly, he's more concerned about saving Bareil than about Kira's feelings here.

When Bareil is dying.

"It's the other half of his brain, isn't it? But you can still help him can't you? You can replace the other half of his brain with a positronic matrix." "I'm sorry, Nerys, but this is where it ends."  .... "Julian, you can't give up now." "Nerys, if I remove the rest of his brain and replace it with a machine, he may look like Bareil, he may even talk like Bareil, but he won't be Bareil. The spark of life will be gone. He'll be dead. And I'll be the one who killed him."

Kira continues to use his name to cajole him into saving Bareil - You're Julian, you're my friend, why won't you help me, Julian?

But there is no way for Julian to offer Kira comfort here, and he knows it. So he does the only thing he can, dropping every formality and identifying himself as her close friend by using her given name - even as he tells her he has to let the man she loves die.

Uncling Duties

A selection of conversations with my friends’ cats.

It’s spring, and before returning home to Galway, I’m staying with some very good friends, L & T, for a few days. This means time with their cats, too.

Day #0

L, excitedly, blue eyes sparkling: Would you like to see the children?

ME: Absolutely, yes, please, right now.

We go into the living room, where the children, Kira and Bercow, are on the windowsill. Bercow, a great beast of a tuxedo creature carved from black-furred beef, looks uncomprehendingly at us; Kira, sleek and agile, stares at us with slightly more comprehension, but not as much as she would like to have us believe.

I extend my hand for them to sniff.

L: It’s your beloved uncle, Johannes.

ME, naive: Did you miss me?

BERCOW, sniffing my fingers with powerful shifts of his nostrils, his white moustache twitching: What.

KIRA, her eyes suspicious: Fuck you.

ME: Okay.

We retire to play boardgames, and the children, disinterested, leave us be. Later, when I go upstairs to brush my teeth, I foolishly leave the bathroom door slightly ajar.

KIRA: Beloved uncle! It is time to spend time together!

ME, mouth white with toothpaste froth, one-handed: No, Kira, wait, I don’t want you in here —

KIRA: Let us play together by way of me knocking over all of these bottles!

ME: No, come here —

BERCOW: Oh, the bathroom is open! Finally we are permitted entry to the mysterious wet place! I want to look into the toilet.

ME: No cats in the bathroom!

KIRA: Well, that’s not true. Agh! Unhand me!

BERCOW, flopping onto his back: Rub my belly, Uncle?

KIRA, regarding him with disgust: You are a sycophant and a dolt.

ME: What a soft belly!
