I really wanna see a ds9 "episode" (idk what to call it) where they are just... Doing nothing. Like the camera cuts and it's people going about their day. Nothing of importance happens on the station, just another day at work. The camera never really follows or focuses on one character either, but acts as more of a way for us to see what normal life on the station is like. Certain conversations are more audible than others due to close proximity to the camera, but nothing ever that important.

Like one shot is just a still of Quarks bar from a distance and you can see him working and serving customers, Odo leaning against the counter watching people walk past while Bashir and O'Brien make their way to the holosuite, their banter only faintly heard against the chatter of the bar.

this is a star trek post for the two people who follow me that care about star trek. specifically odo from DS9.

if you haven't looked up the actor before, his wikipedia is some crazy shit. looked at today literally just because i needed a clear photo of him for the sake of making a joke.

when i scrolled down on his wiki page to find out god knows what i was even curious about, i noticed that some of his family members have wikipedia pages. like "oh cool was his dad like an actor or something?'

no.

that's not what this was.

let's start with his father:

his father was a swiss-american journalist who worked as the foreign correspondent of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Toledo Blade. Throughout most of the Cold War, Auberjonois was one of the most admired American reporters based in London.

During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. and served on secret assignments, including setting up radio transmissions for the Allies to divert the German's attention from the real invasion site on D-Day. From World War II through the Cold War, he worked for many print organizations, and also for NBC and Voice of America. (source)

His grandfather René, who he was presumably named after, was a prominent swiss post-impressionist painter. No clue how well known he is outside of my very specific art-history freak circles, but i can tell you that i was absolutely familiar with his work before this research spiral. it's so rare that i look at an actor's wiki page and see someone so distantly related who has a wiki page. i clicked on his great-great-great grandmother's page and was absolutely in no way prepared for what i found.

younger sister to napoleon, who upon becoming emperor gave her the title of imperial princess. she also was married to Joachim Murat. who was the literal king of Naples from 1 August 1808 – 20 May 1815. (pictured below)

caroline bonaparte and joachim murat's direct descendant is the man perpetually referred to by me as "that goo guy from star trek"

I found the whole episode to be very fascinating. When they said they were in 2024, i was like whaaaa??? obviously they are wrong about the ways in which it's Bad, but in some ways it's also Worse than how they imagined it.
