For: Halbarad | @menelvagor Muse: Elrohir Verse: Empath au Meme: Dissociation starters Prompt: "Don't touch me."
a layer of anxiety covered the Hidden Valley like a low lying mist. noticed only by those who tended to live there. although most disregarded it, for they were joyful, drunk and enjoying the party that was happening. an end to the midsummer festivities. after which the visiting elves would then either return home or go towards the Grey Havens, to Sail West.
however, that wasn't the case for two of the residents. normally found enjoying themselves at the party, tonight Arwen and Elladan were looking for a missing member of their family. having none of the Lord's children in the Hall wouldn't go unnoticed, yet they knew their father would understand.
giggles had both older and younger elves switching direction towards the gardens. although most were open to everyone, there was one garden off limits to all guests and visitors during parties. partly because it was where the Healers got many of their plants from. but also because it was where Elrohir tended to hide.
it was also that particular garden that both the giggles and the anxiety were coming from. the visiting elf maidens froze at the sight of Elladan's non too friendly glare. he paused to glance at Arwen, before stopping near his curled up twin. Elladan heard the quiet repeated words of "Don't touch me." and knew it wasn't good.
"Ar, get them out of here and go get someone. Ro's not looking good."
Arwen nodded and quickly did as asked, taking the quiet group with her. she dropped the Elleths into hall, giving them a uncharacteristically cold look. before going to find someone who could help, preferably Lord Elrond. but anyone who Elrohir felt safe with would be okay in her eyes, even if that meant someone not of their race, like...-
"Halbarad! We, or rather Elrohir, needs your help out in the gardens."
-the Dúnedan she had nearly just run into, which was almost unheard of for her.

"Ada? You have some visitors- well two are. The other's more of a long lost family member, who's just returned home."
Elladan slipped into the garden, followed by Arwen. the latter of whom was trying and failing to stop herself from literally bouncing with excitement and happiness.

Story Starters Meme
Rules: List the first lines of your last 15 stories. See if there are any patterns. Then tag 10 of your favourite authors!
Has this been done for Tolkien? Aah, I don't know. I'm just tagging people I know write fanfiction, but hopefully this goes around the fandom. ♡ (Also, whaaaaat, I do seem to have a pattern? Man. Today on things I didn't know I didn't know...)
1. Late Night Surprises
Glorfindel opened his door to an unexpected sight.
"You, my lord, are in for a treat."
2. We Meet Again in Imladris
It was one of those slow days. Glorfindel favored such days, even more so now that he discovered this corner of the garden. He was pleased to find that Imladris had the gentlest of breezes, not far from the coolness of Gondolin, but without its sharp chill.
3. Tricksters
Nowadays, life was mostly quiet.
It had been some years since they sailed, long enough for Valinor to feel like home again.
4. Fireflies and Starlight
Imladris had not seen a more extravagant an event as Arwen's first century feast.
The feast was held in the gardens, the evening lit by scattered torches and what seemed like a thousand candles. Outside that circle, fireflies lit the trees surrounding them where a thin mist had already settled, giving the place an otherworldly glow.
5. At Twilight (We Dance)
"May I have this dance?"
Something to note: they have never danced together before.
6. Something Lost, Something Found
Ecthelion supposes that, all things considered, they are fortunate to even be there.
"If I may..." begins their stone-faced host, clad in greys and with his black hair blown to one side by the roaring wind. He does not seem to mind this, for he stands above them looking every bit as though he belongs there in the cold steps of the castle with the overcast skies above them. "Although I can see you are of good standing by your cloaks and the swords you hide beneath them, you still make quite a sight. May I ask what brings three sorry-looking Elves to Himring?"
7. Tales From the Black Book
There was something about his presence that called attention. Nevermind that he entered a room quietly, or that his footfalls hardly made any sound, or that he moved unobtrusively as though he loathed the way people stood on ceremony whenever they were in his presence. None of that mattered, for all the same people tended to look at him, this reborn lord of old, for one could hardly miss the way the firelight homed in on his bright Vanyarin hair, or the way his inner light shone to those who knew how to look.
8. Rebuilding
Glorfindel had this thing about him that came out only after a fight.
That they fought at all was in itself something of a marvel. The gentle temperament of the Vanyar was the stuff of legends, although Erestor knew so few of those people that he could not really say how true the stories were.
9. At the Edge of the World
For the longest time, Erestor pretended he no longer loved his husband.
It was stupid, not to mention petty, but let it not be said that Elves were not without such tendencies. In fact, Elves were capable of sustaining such emotional states for long periods of time, so that grudges could be held for generations, and quarrels could span an age.
10. I Have a What?
Glorfindel slowly wakes to a stern-sounding voice.
"You are all idiots. Had I half a mind to do so I would have you plowing the fields if that would not risk you ruining the yield and have the entire valley starve through winter because their princes are a bunch of half-wits."
11. Never and Always
Lindir has always had this annoying way of laughing. The minstrel has an open face and a wide smile, his voice a unique sort of tenor that can have a tinkling quality to it when he laughs.
How unfortunate that it is he who greets Glorfindel as the captain steps into the common hall.
"Wow, that... that is indeed something," Lindir manages in between gasps.
12. Tilion's Night
Glorfindel stood at the balcony, observing the crowd of Elves below.
Overhead was a clear evening sky, a dark blue dome now above Imladris, lit by Tilion shining full and brightly.
13. Ten Counts
They started off as rivals - the eldest sons of Miriel's and Indis' sons - but it was difficult to hate Findekáno when the other kept conceding that Maitimo was the better craftsman, the better sportsman, the better son, and the most beautiful one.
14. Storm in a Tea Cup
Erestor frowns at the grey skies. The waves below it do not look any better, as they are reaching heights Erestor has never even seen before.
"Círdan says this will be a big one."
15. All Eru's Children
"Elladan, if I am not mistaken."
The dark-haired Elf was sitting alone facing the wooden fence. That is, he was not so much facing it as he was sitting under it - he sat with his legs going under the lowest beam, feet dangling off the cliff overlooking the Sea. Another beam he had under his arms, which were folded in front of him, upon which he was leaning his chin with a listless sort of look on his face.
Tagging (if you like!): @maedhrosrussandol, @saviobriion, @dawnfelagund, @hennethgalad, @raisingcain-onceagain, @woodlandcrowns, @goldfish-tea and whoever wants to do the thing. :)

For: Open Muse: Elrohir Verse: The War is Over | RoTK au
"Anyone seen Elrohir and Elladan? Aragorn's asking for them."
although the War of Ring had ended when the One Ring was thrown into Mt Doom, there was still a lot to do before things could even start to settle. first and foremost: the injured and wounded had to be seen to; the missing found; and the dead recovered.
well. most of the missing were found.
"Elladan's being looked after by medics but Elrohir is nowhere to be found."
it.. was not the response expected and a look sent Saeradan in the direction of the soon to be King. the link between the twin elves had told the elder that his brother was still alive but that was it. no-one had seen Elrohir since the middle of the battle at the Morannon and that worried everyone.
they and the remaining members of the Grey Company had hoped that the missing elf would be found on the return to Minas Tirith. but Elrohir didn't appear. so Elladan sent a short note about the last few days back home to Imladris, including the missing.
