While they'd gotten off on the wrong foot, their connection felt stronger lately, and Emery was eager to spend more time with her. " fancy seeing you here. " not even bothering with the formalities, crowley spoke to the other in a monotonous voice. even he had to admit, it was a surprise seeing chuck, but not a pleasant one. he knew exactly who he was, though it didn’t seem to put a pin in any of his usual personality traits. “ nothing to watch on the renovation channel ?? " a smug smile appearing on his features. “ or did you simply get bored with your sister, again ?? "

          SO FAR SHE HAS ONLY come across the faces of those familiar, even so far as the woman beside her now adorned in ears and a tail. a beastkin, she knows that much, one of the many who were affected by the sudden racial changes unlike herself. ❝ I guess it’s not really surprising, ❞ she speaks softly in regards to her appearance and the bigger picture, more comfortable in doing so with 2b than some of the other npcs which seem to have calmed their hostilities since some time ago.

          ❝ ... the leaves on that tree. It’s only natural it’d start to wilt like that when expecting different people to cooperate for one reason or another. It’s not even just humans, either. ❞ she knows well that despite what anyone wants wholeheartedly, there are those who are willing to tear it down just as swiftly. ❝ It isn’t like I’m not used to things like this, but... ❞ words are weighted, though it is more in a sense of contemplating what to do than mere complaints.

So, maybe I didn’t always get things right, about myself, or about others. And maybe a part of learning my place in the world was about accepting that I wouldn’t always have the answers, and I wouldn’t always be the hero in every scenario, and maybe I wouldn’t win everything I attempted. But I was pretty sure about a couple of things.

For the first time in his life, Marius felt alone. When he was a child, he was doted on by his mother and the various nannies when his siblings were whisked away to do other work. Even in Beauxbatons, he was surrounded by friends, and there was always someone or something that occupied his mind until Beatrice died. Now his mind didn't linger on much at all, aside from how empty his life has been since then.

Marius felt no remorse for his actions, nor did he feel the need to act so rashly. That much, he was willing to admit, as he wandered from booth to booth without looking too closely at what they were selling. After all, it was a little difficult to do much without galleons to spend, and also, as Marius was beginning to realize, this was the first time he had lived without the safety net of his family's fortune -- despite the fact that he had spent most of his adult life trying to shun the very safety net that kept him afloat in this Wizarding society.

The crowd grew more dense as the morning passed, and there wasn't much left for Marius to do now as he bumped shoulder-to-shoulder with people he didn't know. The main stage boasted a crowd that looked up at some supposedly marvelous prizes, only for him to recognize some of what was being raffled away and feeling disgusted. He knew better and learned a little, so it would suit him best to remain calm and to express his disdain for the thoughtless fashion of the times.

"These people really think that jewelry is worth raffling off? What good is it going to do?" Marius himself wasn't referring to anything in particular, though recent events made gold and silver look all the more frivolous.

How was it September 23rd already? Julian didn't hate the annual Harvest Festival, since it was one of the few occasions that he got paid for being outside of the castle and seeing something that wasn't brick wall after brick wall. However, Julian hated the Harvest Festival, if only because the chances of seeing someone from school again increased exponentially. He wasn't too keen on greeting anyone who remembered him as the haughty Head Boy, only to be belittled by the fact that what he was doing was a glorified version of what he was before.

Julian hated the Harvest Festival for other reasons: his students would be three weeks into their term and he had to pick a few representative students to do a showcase of what Hogwarts was all about -- not that everyone didn't already know, considering that most people were from Hogwarts and have all learned the same thing. Maybe it was to appease parents; there were definitely a few who had come to Hogsmeade just to see their kids transfigure pigs into tables. A lot of what Julian did, however, was just have everyone review everything from the previous year, and whoever remembered it best would come with him and get free festival admission.

Although he trusted most of the kids he had picked to represent him and the school, it didn't stop him from wandering from stall-to-stall making sure no one sprouted bunny ears or something stupid. Besides, the more Julian himself stayed in one spot, the least likely anyone would wander into his corner just to see something they've spent years learning, then another several years trying to avoid entirely.

The year before, he was a little overzealous with his campaign to change the curriculum, but this time, he felt a little more prepared to keep things casual -- his pamphlets from before have now been reduced to a flyer and his petition scroll was kept on his person to not bombard any passerby unless they were actually interested. Besides, people seemed to be less interested about the demonstrations and had more questions on the Ministry in the castle, none of which Julian was really allowed to make a public comment on.

The students have to come first -- even if his hard work was really for them, anyway -- and it probably helped his case more if they showed the abilities on which they could improve instead of implying that the system was completely broken.

"So, our first years have been working on matchsticks this week, and --" Julian paused, to properly look at the person who had passed by before giving them a flyer summarizing the changes he wanted. "Oh, it's just you."
