WELCOME TO HALLOWEENTOWN..

Things have been quiet. Too quiet. The kind of quiet that lulls people into the trap of routine. Wake up. Go about their day. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Some may have just reunited with loved ones they never thought they'd see again. Others cling to the hope that fall will bring warmth with scarves, hot drinks, and pumpkin spice. Right? Wrong. They should’ve known better. Complacency is dangerous.

It begins at midnight.

When the clock strikes twelve, the fog rolls in—thick, suffocating, unnatural. Those caught outside when it arrives don’t just collapse. They vanish into the mist, as if they were never there. Gone. Perhaps, with each passing day, little by little.. they start disappearing from people's minds. Those that love them find themselves with a tremendous headache that slowly.. vanishes.

As did their memories of said missing loved one.

What happens to them? No one knows. But every morning, the town is different. Darker. Is it still the same town? Who knows, truly?

When the survivors wake, their world has changed. The town they knew is gone, replaced by something grotesque, distorted. Halloweentown has claimed them. Streets are twisted, the landscape unrecognizable, and the familiar places that once offered comfort now feel like nightmares brought to life.

Where the local shopping center once stood, a twisted carnival now looms. The rides creak with unseen weight, moving unnaturally fast, while laughter echoes unnervingly through the air. Every attraction beckons, promising thrills, but those who dare enter are never the same when they leave—if they leave at all.

Every morning, new missing persons posters litter the streets. Faces once familiar, now faded. No one asks anymore where they’ve gone because everyone knows: the fog took them. Who would look for someone that they don't know, after all?

The coffee shops and bars and restaurants —once comforting refuges—have become dark, haunted dens. Jack-o'-lanterns burn eternally in the windows, their grins mocking anyone who steps inside, as if they know they may not leave. Drinks are free for those in costume, but the cost is far greater than anyone understands. I wouldn't drink, if I were you. Nothing is free here.

This is the town where anything is possible—and everything is dangerous.

At midnight, the fog returns. Every night, it reshapes the town a little more, creeping further into homes, into minds. Those who dare step outside when the fog rolls in see things—shifting figures, faces in the mist, voices calling them. The clock always looms, ticking down to something unknown. Each day, it's a little louder, a little closer to zero. What happens when time runs out?

And then there's the invitation.

It arrives one morning, left at every doorstep—a simple box with a fancy masquerade outfit and a note. Inside, a mask and a promise. The letter is handwritten, elegant, and disturbing.

Dearest Guest,

As the season of darkness begins, I am pleased to invite you to a masquerade ball at the Old Town Hall. Midnight, one week from today. Inside, you will find a suggested outfit and mask, but feel free to wear your own. Just remember, no one enters without a mask.

Submit the name of your guest within three days. If you don’t have one, call the number on the card, and a partner will be assigned to you, according to your preferences. Refusing the invitation? I would advise against it. During the ball, the fog will descend, and only those within the walls of the Town Hall will be safe. Outside? Well… let’s just say you won’t want to be outside.

We’re not without generosity. For those who attend, I will grant each of you your heart's desire. Anything you wish. Consider this not just a party, but the opportunity of a lifetime.

The letter is signed with a flourish, but the implications are clear—refuse, and there will be consequences. Do not follow the rules and you won't like it what happens. Accept, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll survive whatever horror is coming.

But what does the benefactor truly want? Who are they?

And what happens to those who enter the ball?

Are they still in London, or have they been transported somewhere far darker?

Every night, the fog tightens its grip on the town. The houses, for now, seem untouched—some kind of magic keeps them safe. But for how long?

The streets grow emptier, more unsettling. People vanish, only to reappear twisted, shadows of who they once were, almost as if the fog took a part of their souls.

The town’s residents know one thing: there’s no escaping the fog. It will come for them all eventually. The clocks keep ticking, counting down, and with each passing day, the mysterious benefactor’s grip on Halloweentown tightens.

The masquerade ball might be the last chance to uncover the truth—or the final piece in a puzzle that leads to total destruction. As the town warps into something unrecognizable, those who remain will have to decide:

Do they trust the benefactor, risk everything at the ball, or try to survive a town where anything is possible—and everything is dangerous?

The people who used to live ordinary lives are now trapped in this ever-changing, decaying version of their town, fighting against a creeping madness that gnaws at their sanity. Every night, more people disappear. Every day, the town warps a little more, becoming something darker, more twisted.

In Halloweentown, there are no happy endings. Only survival.

come on, come all and welcome to halloweentown! what happened? well, that is yet to be explained, is it not? for now, people found themselves pulled from the ordinary life that they had once taken for granted and placed somewhere much.. much.. darker. much, much stranger. will they make it to masquerade ball night?

DETAILS, DETAILS!

welcome, one and all all, to our brand new event! that's right. for those that may have wished for something darker.. it seems that they got their wish. are they in london? are they elsewhere? all that people know is that everywhere, the town is now referred to as halloweentown. is that the work of the benefactor? of someone else? who knows!

this event will have three parts. the first one starts with everyone getting used to their new circumstances and preparing for the masquerade ball. THIS PART WILL GO FROM TOMORROW (THE 4TH - in which the main will reblog a meme set to get things started), until the 11th.

then, in exactly one week, we shall have the masquerade ball. and what comes after.. for now.. that remains to be seen.

now, now, details! you may ask - may one of my characters have disappeared in the fog? the answer is yes! if they do, it will be up to you if they come back with no memories (precisely as if they had died) or with all of their memories and.. who knows what they may remember seeing? you can, of course, plot how that would affect their loved ones and to what extent and how they would react to seeing them again! would they remember them? would they be freaked out? that is completely up to you!

now, now, about the masquerade ball itself! is attendance mandatory? no, no, but.. trust us when we say that you do not want to be caught outside when the clock strikes midnight on the seventh day. some may be brave enough to do so and that is alright too.. well, time will tell if they can survive outside. for those choosing to attend, they have two options. to call the number on the card and to be assigned a partner to the ball, given their preferences. for this, we will be installing a BLIND DATE system! we ask that until the next wednesday (the 9th of October), you message the main (either by ask or message) and let us know if you want to be included! five characters per mun when it comes to blind dates is the limit, so we can make sure that everyone has a pairing! these will, of course, be completely randomised, so who knows who you may end up with? the final list will be revealed on the day before the masquerade officially starts, to make sure that everyone has plenty of time to plot and to create some chaos together!

for those that already have a pairing, please send in an ask to the main all the same, to let us know who will be attending with who! it's important for later. there is no need to message for those that will go solo and defy the benefactor's rules. and remember, masks are MANDATORY, especially for those!

in the meantime.. settle in, explore the newly and improved town, see the sights, plan a costume, choose a date and be careful to not be outside when the fog hits, because.. who knows what might happen?
