feat Nadir

yeah it's looking like it's gonna be a nadir year lol

“So, Nadir, was it?” One of the scions, the white haired hyur, smiles at him. “Since you’ve never heard of a primal before, you must have only recently come to Eorzea.”

The hyur - the leader of these ‘Scions’ had just introduced him, what was his name? - stops speaking and looks at him.

Nadir stares back.

Silence stretches.

Theodric’s? Talan’s? Neither feels right, but the hyur’s smile widens and his eyes are sharp.

“Thancred is asking when you arrived in Eorzea, Nadir,” Y’shtola says with a sigh that feels more directed at her comrade than at him.

He is fairly certain that Thancred had asked him nothing but he shrugs it off. These Eorzean’s are so odd. “I arrived in Limsa Lominsa almost moon before I met you.” He has no intention of determining what day that was by the Eorzean calendar.

“Oh?”

“Yes.”

That annoying smile grows strained. “Where are you from then, Nadir?”

Mistress Minfilia agreed that she would work to allow me access to the ruins where the great wyrm Midgardsomr sleeps, he reminds himself. He knows not why he seeks him but it is what his Satrap has asked of him. “Yedlihmad,” he replies slowly, lingering over the name of his home.

The sound of the word brings with it the scent of the sea breeze, the laughter of the marketplace and the calls of the docks, the weight of his well-worn armour upon his bones, the screams of his people as they shake and burn and transfor-

Nadir presses shaking hands against his thighs and breathes.

“-is Yedlihmad?” Thancred is asking and his eyes are like knives as they stare him down. He sees to much and Nadir-

He tastes smoke on his tongue. “Thavnair,” he says after a beat of silence that lasts too long, taking a step away from the other man. “If you would excuse me.”

like nothing against ppl who like 'em, obviously, i just think its. the least interesting route to take in this story and kind of goes against all the themes of the overall plot.

though i wouldn't mind a "dazai sets himself up to be transferred but the other agency members stop it" kind of plotline
