Boy, things don’t get more Ghibli-esque than a graphic novel by Hiyao Miyazaki, do they? This is the first time this story (from 1983) has been translated, and it’s fantastic! Not only as a piece of Miyazaki’s larger oeuvre, but also as a great story in its own right. I can definitely see themes that he explores more fully in his later work, but he also takes the story on directions I didn’t expect.
