Bindle Punk Bruja by Desideria Mesa sounds like the perfect combination of some of my favorite elements to see in books. The book "Harapan Terakhir" or its original title "The Last Hope" by Clifford Goldstein, published by Review and Herald Publishing Association in 2021 and in this Indonesian version printed and published by Penerbit Advent Indonesia (Indonesian Publishing House). I didn't buy this book. So, last Saturday (29 October, 2022), my mother was given this book by some Adventists on the street while riding a motorcycle. As a reminder, I'm not a Christian. I’m still recovering from the roller coaster that had me laughing one moment and crying the next. ⠀ ⠀ Charlotte is one of the best-written female leads l have read of late. Charlotte is intelligent, driven and a total girl boss. Charlotte is engaged when a ghost from her past turns her world upside down.⠀ ⠀ Lex is a man who is used to getting his way, except for Charlotte. Lex must win the love of his love back or lose her again from his past mistakes. ⠀ ⠀ Overall the story was compelling, fast pace, emotional, and had a lot of angst. Apologies, book friends, it appears I slipped from a reading slump directly into a posting slump. Funny thing is I’ve been casually reading a bunch of web comics in my spare time, so I’ve already completed my @goodreads Reading Challenge for this year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m starting to get back on track with my classics reread of I Am a Cat by Sōseki Natsume, but the summer holiday vibe is strong & all I want to do is laze & nap in the sun like Sōseki’s freeloading protag. Some fun stuff: I recently got the chance to visit the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & it was deceptively small, considering it houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts on the west coast, which means I’m planning a return visit to catch everything I missed. My favorites were the tomb tour, modeled after rock-cut tombs in Middle Egypt & constructed in the Middle Kingdom style (2066 – 1650 BCE), & the Alchemy exhibit, which had an actual glass cylinder of mercury just sitting in the middle of the Fifth Stage: Fermentation. Of course I brought a book & I’m hoping to finally put together a Piranesi reel this week with some of the clips I took (see slides). I've been waiting to read this one since I read the synopsis. I recently read a ciguapa story that left me curious to seek out more. A Touch of Moonlight by Yaffa Santos sounds like the next ciguapa story I need. It has magic, family and food. This sounds like a great recipe to me. The British royal family have been fans of photography for nearly two centuries now, and several members have been and are avid photographers. The Duchess of Cambridge’s photographs are currently being featured in an exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London. However, earlier members of the royal family have also shared their photographs publicly. Queen Alexandra, consort to King Edward VII, actually sold her photos to raise money for several different charities.    

Queen Alexandra’s Christmas Gift Book- Photographs From My Camera is a bound-book that features 136 photographs from Alexandra’s own collection. 90 of the images are printed in photogravure, with the remaining 46 mounted by hand on dark green pages. The photographs offer a “behind the scenes” look at royal life at the end of the nineteenth century and the early twentieth century. It features photographs of the Dowager Empress of Russia, the King of Denmark, several future British monarchs (including George V, Edward VIII, and George VI), and many other European royals.
