No for real if you would have told me just 10 years ago that the US based retailer Kohls would still be around and not another victim of “the great brick and mortar chain die-off” I would have asked you what strain were you smoking and can I have some

#I know the only reason is ‘they partnered with Amazon as a place to take your returns’#but now they’re getting Sephoras put in their stores #like Sephora pulled out of the sinking ship that is JC Penney #to put their small scaled stores into Kohl’s?????#10 years ago I could have sworn kohls was one chapter 11 from going under lol #I just wanna iterate that I don’t actually care if these megacorps chains go under #it sucks for all the employees that suddenly lose a source of income #but one of the weirder things I’m fascinated by is like ‘the rise and fall of X’#like I love watching documentaries about the how’d and why’s of a company going under #and bc if that I’ve started to be able to recognize the writing on the walls when a corporate retail chain is struggling #and I really THOUGHT kohls was struggling like 10 years ago like I swear I remember them filing for bankruptcy and everything #and yet here they are… still alive… (I know it’s bc they’re like partially owned by Amazon now)#bc that’s the way the world is headed.. everything and everyone owned by Amazon..#and Disney..#everything in your home and closet will be owned by and/or from Amazon #and all your media will be owned by Disney #and Google will control all the software #Apple will still be there being Apple #the jobs will be Amazon warehouse a Disney park/hotel or a call center for Google and Apple
