“you’re drunk,” you said after stopping yourself and maybe i was but this feeling was true

my arms wrapped around your neck and i made myself small to laugh into its crook “maybe... it doesn’t matter”

you sighed and my consciousness was already beginning to drift

i placed a kiss right below your jaw to placate you in the spot my mind always wanders to

“this makes me sad,” you whispered into my hair but your hands were wrapped around my waist and that was all that mattered

there wasn’t room for sadness the distance doesn’t exist in this dream
