oh man i’m slammed back into life series mode and i cant stop it even though i full well know it could be a scam. but it might not be. and i need to do something about it!

Scar burned. From the inside out, he was burning. It choked in his lungs like a heavy thick tar, sludged through his veins and made him too aware of every movement. His heart pounded through his ears and he had to pay closer attention, listen more carefully to hear words instead of sounds. It was harder to feel. Not emotions– skin feeling. Physical textures and sensations were numbed to him in a way that was so familiar from those long days he spent red in his desert. His armour was less heavy and annoying and he could feel his own attention being drawn constantly to his own hands. Wrapped around a pickaxe, a bow, a sword. Curled into fists.

"Scar," Grian said.

Scar smiled his cheerful smile. "Yes, Grian?"

"Are you the boogeyman?"

Scar gasped in mock offense. His heart beat faster. "Am I- Grian. Grian! You'd accuse me? Your good buddy? Your good ol pal Scar? Of being a murderer? How dare you, sir. Besmirchin' my good name like that— Maybe I should be the boogey, huh? Get you back for saying something so mean!"

Grian smiled a little, but his not-eyes didn't leave Scar. "That's not... quite how that works," he said. "Come on, Scar. Get out. Shoo! You can come back when you're not the boogey anymore."

"Awww, but Grian," Scar complained. Scar burned. His hands. His fists.

"No," Grian said firmly. "No buts! Don't make me get my bow, Scar!"

Scar pouted, began slinking slowly backwards. "You can't hurt me if I don't hurt you first."

"That doesn't apply here, Scar," Grian said, and he sounded fondly exasperated. "We all only have one life."

"Oh," Scar said, pausing. "Oh, yeah, right. I - ha - I did forget about that! Well, alright, if you're going to be so inhospitable maybe I'll just go bother-"

Grian: Scar's boogey

Scar pouted. "Well." It wasn't fair. It was perfectly fair. These were Scar's friends! He didn't want to kill them! He'd done basically the same the other day, when Joel had been red! No- not red. Boogey.

"Shoo," Grian insisted again, and he pulled out his bow this time.

Scar huffed and puffed at Grian, but allowed himself to be driven away. He stepped back and—

"SCAR!"

"Oh!" Scar shouted. "Oh, oh, oh no-!" He fell. He shouted again and windmilled his arms, caught his feet on the edge of a block that sent him sprawling further. "Oh! Ouch! No-!" His leg got caught beneath himself and he kneed himself uncomfortably in the chest. He wheezed and curled as best he could as he bounced his way down the mountain side, and then-

and then he was incredibly, uncomfortably, blessedly damp. Scar sat up quickly, sputtering and coughing and spitting the water out of his mouth. It was a small puddle, only about five blocks across and one block deep, but it was Scar's new favourite puddle. He looked up to see Grian peering down at him with worry. "I'm okay!" Scar called, raising his hand to give Grian a weak thumbs up. With his hand. The hand that burned.

He wasn't damp, Scar realized. He was soaked through to the bone. Probably really cold, even. He just... couldn't feel it, the same way he hadn't been able to feel the course texture of the desert sand way back at the end of the beginning. Scar groaned, then climbed out of his puddle to squelch his way back home. He couldn't wait for the curse to pass.

It was just- so short but so complete? If that makes sense?

Everyone starting by saying it was a "single player world" and the reveals that it wasn't (via Grian getting shot at and Joel sheepishly admitting the truth when he found Grian's base) being fantastically funny.

The rivalry between Joel and Grian throughout the entire series.

Scar miraculously surviving for as long as he did.

Raiding the woodland mansion with Jimmy (bad boys real??)

The chaotic finale with all their friends trying to murder them.

In the leadup to a new life game, I ask the masses a question many have asked before, but with a twist (as is the spirit of a life game!)

Just imagine what Joel can do with Hermitcrafts resources behind him. He build the gigantic Mezalean Palace with materials he mainly grinded out himself. Same goes for Stratos. Same goes for his 100hr hardcore build.

Information I feel some new fans may be lacking for the canary curse:

[note: this is all from memory, if I’m wrong on anything, feel free to correct me]

Not long after Last Life ended (I think it was 2-3months?) Empires SMP season 1 had its finale also.

In empires season 1, Scott had an evil demon brother, Xornoth, who causes mayhem across the server. Eventually with help from his allies, Scott had secured Xornoth in a crystal that was then sealed in a large piece of ice (courtesy of Scott’s ice magic). This is important later.

Jimmy had a feud with Fwhip of Cod vs Salmon. This was a whole series long bit basically. In the finale episode of the series, they had reached peace between their empires. Both of them put their respective fish (Jimmy-cod, Fwhip-salmon) into Fwhip’s reactor.

This resulted in a catastrophic explosion that caused irreparable damage to all of the empires. The oceans drained, the ground fractured, just about everything was full of fire/debris of some sort.

The explosion broke the ice and crystal that had contained Xornoth. The series ended in many ways for various people. Lizzie lost her memories, Scott killed himself to kill Xornoth since their life was linked, and Jimmy fled, no longer deeming himself worthy of being an emperor.

While it isn’t the Same Exact thing as him getting out first in each life series, there are similarities to be drawn.

Something Jimmy did caused destruction and chaos of the server. It began the deaths of others.

Jimmy dying first sets into motion more people dying soon after as well as the server descending into madness

Again, it’s not the exact same situation but I think it is a fitting comparison to be made.

It’s like the watcher wanted the curse to repeat itself but instead, it was altered, changed, by another presence. Perhaps Jimmy was meant to die for good in the Grimlands Explosion.

Additionally, the 100hrs hardcore. Jimmy joel and grian in a woodland mansion.

that 100hrs hardcore clip was maybe the first thing, then there were other things like in Limited Life when Joel was close to dying with Grian's yells and Joel's panic. And then secret life soulmates?! though it was a bit short lived ig. I could see their characters together with their personalities tbh.

- What are your favourite things about the ship?

Gribeans is like, authentic yaoi to me. idrk how to describe it, like their relationship would just happen. They both would take the initiative in the relationship, they would give pecks on the top of the other's head and act like a married couple. Joel would poke fun about being half an inch taller all the time and Grian would either steal Joel's shoes or constantly push Joel down in response, They'd both ask each other to go to the supermarket to buy snacks but are too lazy to do it so they make each other a really half-assed sandwich instead. they're. yaoi couple. yes.

- Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

not really an opinion, but even though I do ship it, I'll have to read a fic or two about how their dynamic works in a relationship LMAO, the basis of their pair seems to be surrounding the accidental gay shit they've said to each other, which is valid, but outside of that there's only low-key gay potent from them to me. at least when Jimmy's not around, LMAO...
