Some notes:

No new tags that I saw this month, though as always I could have missed something! As you can see, we already have quite the assortment of canonized tags.

Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (740 of 842 are in spanish, from 731 last month), Tortillaland (110 of 115 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (752 of 7,375 are in spanish, from 668 last month.)

QSMP also shows 39 fics in French, up from 30 last month, and 405 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 375 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in German, 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 5 fics in Русский (Russian), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe), all the same as last month. New is two fics in Polski (Polish), one fic in Svenska (Swedish), and one fic in Dansk (Danish).

In the small and micro fandoms (under 200 fics), some of the most active small fandoms have grown out of this category so we only saw small amounts of growth. The standout fandoms all saw an increase of 6 works, and that was a tie between Content SMP, New Life SMP, and Witchcraft SMP. Note that Content SMP was coming up from only 24 works, so 6 new works is an increase of 25% of the fandom, truly impressive.

In the midsize fandoms (200-1000), Fable SMP has broken that 1000-fic mark and can no longer qualify for our standout fandom! Instead, our most active fandom was Evolution SMP, with 33 new works, followed by Mystreet with 20 fics and Minecraft: Story Mode with 24 fics. Mystreet and Story Mode are both new fandoms so it's unclear whether that's people retagging old work or true new fics.

For the post-canon big fandoms: Empires went up by 178 works, singificantly more than last month's 117, but not beating the previous month's 240, and Dream SMP's increase of 918 beat the previous month's 767, but is still only the second time I've seen this fandom fall under a thousand works plus a month. Hermitcraft is between seasons right now, but still experienced that holiday exchange boost, as its increase of 784 beat both last month's 574 and the previous month's 651. For active fandoms, traffic series posted a staggering 831 fics, which is its highest ever number, beating April 2023's 671 fics. QSMP saw 865 fics, which is part of a three month decline (894 last month, 913 the month before), but still posting numbers that are only exceeded by DSMP.

Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT) is 4,223 fics, a significant increase from last month's 3,489, and the previous month's 4,035, but still exceeded by October's record 4,702. Notably, it's higher than the summer numbers and almost exactly the same as the number we saw last January, 4,235 new works.

hey can we just talk about how charlie slimecicle always plays the most fucked-over, tragic characters

(spoilers for genloss and charlie's 100 hours in minecraft hardcore video)

okay so in the 100 hours in minecraft hardcore video, charlie is literally just some guy that has to somehow survive the zombie apocalypse. for 100 days. not only that, but this man watches multiple "survivors" die in front of him, is BETRAYED by his only connection to the zombies, and literally gets BERATED by god, like, three times. and it's not just that! he barely makes it to the 100th day, and he dies in the dimension that he wanted to destroy!

oh and don't get me STARTED on gl!charlie. THAT MAN WAS DOOMED THRICE BY THE NARRATIVE (four times if you count the whole thing with the slime towel). he was KILLED in what is theorized to be his CHILDHOOD HOME (yes i know the cabin was a set and not technically a house, it still stands), he was VIVISECTED by the "hero" of genloss, who, BY THE WAY, WAS THE ONE WHO KILLED HIM BEFORE. and to top it off, he died AGAIN, STARING AT THE FIRST PLACE HE DIED, REALIZING THAT HIS ENTIRE LIFE AS HE KNEW IT WAS NOT REAL.

what's not to love? they act like brothers, bickering and bugging each other all the time. their interactions are so fun, how they squeal and squawk at each other, but also worry when one person is about to die.

They are so goofy and I love them

They are literally the worst at hardcore, one dies because he didn't think he'd need his chest plate and then reincarnates with a moustache, one dies approximately 30 seconds after logging in after a several week hiatus, and one dies by blowing himself up with a perfectly still tnt minecart. They're perfect for each other.

He is usually busy with composing with music so when he finally gets to play Minecraft with you (you are the one who requested it), you can't help but smile.

He heard of the game before but he never played it so you might have to teach him some stuff, not all because you want to make fun of him for a bit.

His first skin is Steve until he finds out by seeing your skin that you can change or design skins.

You forced him to wear a werewolf skin until later on Chan finds a Wolfchan skin.

I feel like he would most likely be scared of caves and the noises they make along with mobs spawn in the caves.

He wouldn't be scared of mobs if it's not in the caves but still get startled by them.

Would 100% tame a dog and name it "Berry" since he misses her so much.

Probably would collect flowers and place it in both of y'all's houses that y'all share as a decoration.

Would probably rather build/go on adventures then mining unless he comes with you.

He doesn't mind helping you against mobs.

Probably wouldn't play at first until you mentioned adopting cats in Minecraft.

When he first joins, he immediately starts questioning where he can get a cat.

You two went on a whole quest to find a village in hopes to find a cat.

You two found the villages with cats and Lee Know immediately becomes obsessed but upset when they don't go near him.

That's when you tell him about fishing and taking cats with fish.

He all of sudden becomes a hardcore fisher collecting enchanting books and other stuff but he throws those away to the side since he doesn't care about them (or doesn't know how cool they are)

You taught him how to tame a cat one time now all of sudden he has 20 cats behind him.

Names three of the cats his cats when you gave him three nametags.

Would build a cat house for them.

I feel like he would hit you just out of fun along with taking some of your stuff.

Would fill your house with his cats.

He would be so happy to play games with you.

He even let you reach him how to play it so you both can play it properly.

Would probably be busy getting his skin changed. Would probably takes hours. You complain while he just ignores you until he finally found the one he wanted.

He would probably enjoy the scenery along with the sunset.

He started smiling when he found a blossom tree and wanted on by his house that he would make.

Would probably take more hours busy building his perfect house.

Would craft paintings and place them into the walls. (Probably breaks them then placed it again until he finds a perfect painting)

Probably laughs at the animals and talks about how funny they look.

Would be overdramatic when it comes to mobs (or others in general)

Don't ever ask this man to help you fight against certain mob bosses or adventures like the neither, etc.

okay so some thoughts about dreams and world hopping:

xb 'dreams' about kerilson, hopping to other servers, and being rescued by an airship.

the way the enviroment blends together at the end of the dream is very reminiscent of actual dreams, and there are blocks that don't exist in minecraft, confirming theres some level of unreality here. but he's also dreaming of places he's never seen (empires s1 and maybe hermitcraft s1) with block perfect accuracy.

beef comes to wake him up, and seems extremely confused to see xb asleep in bed-- which makes sense, because thats not how sleep WORKS in minecraft. this can be tied to pix's theory about dimension hopping, dreams and logging out.

also beef seems to have only just noticed xb online on tab, which suggests he wasn't just like... afk and asleep this whole time. he must've actually left the server in some capacity.

long story short: theres something really weird about xbs so-called dream. it's both hard to explain as both unreal and real. but like... that's also par for the course in mcyt. is joel 11ft tall or not? is the hermatrix canon or not? do scars crystals work or not?

the world is always bending to player perception. maybe xb was dreaming, but because he genuinely believed he was going into the rift he actually got sent to another world . or maybe he genuinely did enter the rift, but after being stuck at sea for so long he started to doubt his reality and phased back into hermitcraft with confused memories. regardless i think he very much DID travel there, even if he believes it to be a dream now.

the idea of server hopping being linked to sleep really makes sense for a lot of cases. stuff like scar being trapped in the void between s8 and s9 while also playing on 100 hours hardcore-- two bodies, linked by dreams. whos to say there isnt still a physical geminitay asleep in hermitcraft right now? she's just more concious of her other life than someone like scott, who doesn't remember his 'dreams' as clearly.

long story short i dont think ANY of this is intentional and yes i'm homestucking on this but it makes sense trust me--
