A decade of Self-Titled. Ten years of an album I have cried to, laughed with, and have had on in the background during my daily daydreaming of a future I feel a little braver to embrace because of the band. 2013 was an interesting year in music from what I remember, thinking about how these songs were tucked away for 7 years before I could hear them is a comfort in itself. It was waiting for the right time to come into my life, and here I am writing the future and continuing my story with this as one of my many musical guides. I made this for the 10yearsofparamore zine here on tumblr, to show my love for Future and for my favorite lyrics from the band as a whole. There's so much to pick, but without a doubt this is the first I think of when Paramore comes to mind. One I plan on getting tattooed soon. Here's to you, Self-Titled. 🌠

hi paramoreblr! <3 i was thinking it could be fun to have an event of some sort to celebrate 1 year of tiw and the end of the tiw era? kind of like the #countdowntotiw and #10yearsofparamore. i’m just not sure if it should be now at the end of december or wait until feb? if it’s now it would be more of an end of the year/end of tiw, but if it’s in feb it’s more of a 1 year of tiw?

if you have any thoughts or ideas on this pls send me an ask, or reply to this <3 and if you would want to participate also pls let me know 🫶🏼

This is what I wrote for the 10 Years of Paramore Zine ( @10yearsofparamore ) This is my favorite band in the world and i’m so happy & lucky that I got to be involved. Thanks for taking the time to read it, a little piece of me is now out into the world but I really wouldn’t have it any other way. A big thank you to Iselin ( @userparamore ) for getting me to write this. Thanks for pulling it out of me (haha).

10 YEARS OF PARAMORE: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Welcome to Writing the Future: 10 years of Paramore, a community zine hosted by @thekillerandthefinalgirl & @userparamore celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Paramore’s self-titled album!

We are inviting the Paramore community to submit art, essays, photography, poetry, and more that reflects on the album and what it means to them. Submissions are open from March 1–April 1. 

If you are interested in participating, please complete this statement of intent form. 

Visual submission requirements:

Creators may submit either one (1) or two (2) A4 page(s)

Files must be a .png or .tif  

Written submission requirements:

Word limit: 1,000 words (no minimum)

Submissions in all languages are welcome. However, if you are submitting in a language other than English, please provide a translation of your work (note, the translation does not need to be exact or highly edited)

Please be aware that written submissions will only undergo light copy-editing before publication. As such, please edit your work before submitting

You may include a maximum of four (4) photos (optional)

Files must be a .docx, .pdf, or google doc

All submissions must be emailed to paramorezine@gmail.com.

Here's my second piece for the 10yearsofparamore zine, based off of Daydreaming and what it meant to me. I wanted to go back to the days I was a child in art class, with its paint-stained folding tables and black floors, to the cold room that seemed to stretch a mile ahead of me each time I entered. My very first art teacher, we'll call her Mrs. C, was a headstrong, no-nonsense woman whose voice bellowed throughout the classroom. It was hard to not feel intimidated by her, although everything about art as a subject was overwhelming for all of my senses back then. This was before I knew I had a great love for it. Our first lessons were in oil pastels, in blending and sorting through which colors we liked on thinnish, tanned paper. Construction paper would have to sit out for this lesson. Little me had no clue what to do with these crayons that felt like I was touching a cloud. The way they simply glided over the paper in smooth, all too quick strokes in bold, rich colors had frightened me. What was I to do? I hadn't felt this kind of freedom until that moment, and I was anxious. I couldn't put together a pretty picture, not like the others and I grew cross. Impatient and easily frustrated, I'd sit there frozen with worry weighing on my hands as I tried coming up with an idea. Mrs.C took notice, and her attempt to guide me was the first of many conversations we'd have over numerous projects. I was stubborn, and hated my lack of skill. Still, I loved the way my fingers would turn blue and green, as if I were holding onto earth a little too tightly and I would let go. I thought of the possibilities, how scary it was to make something without knowing where I'd go. I was nervously treading new worlds, until I realized I was the one laying down the path, dotting the stars in the sky, and pulling the rays of the bright yellow sun from the corner of the paper. I was daydreaming. I never felt more alive, with my passion for art and how it was a place where dreamers like me could go.

Inspired by HAYLEY's Blog

I never thought that this band would be very important for me and I never thought that a band can literally change you and make you a better person than you could imagine. I can say that I survived my teenage years with a big help from Paramore, they aren’t just striking the strings of the bass & electric guitars or just singing the lyrics of their song. They are making you feel alive and making you feel that even though you aren’t fit for the world that you’re living in, there’s always this band who can make you feel that you are a part of something big & something real. I am part of the Paramore Family and I will never be ashamed of it, I really consider this ParaFamily as my own family, we are all united through music and that is even better than 1anything you could’ve imagined. Even if sometimes I can’t understand any word they are saying through twitter because of the language barrier between us, I know that deep inside us, our hearts & minds are always connected through Paramore and that is more than enough. It’s like I KNOW YOU’RE TALKING GOOD STUFFS ABOUT PARAMORE, I LOVE YOU! So whatever stuffs we are going through I wanna say that as long as Paramore is playing… We can get through them! (Hayley said it!) PS. THIS WHAT HAYLEY’s BLOG MADE ME DO.

FAQs

Do I need to sign-up anywhere? 

You can fill out this statement of intent to participate here! This is not a binding sign-up, but gives us an idea of how many submissions to expect and provides prompts if you would like one. 

Where should I submit my contribution? 

All submissions must be emailed to paramorezine@gmail.com. If your file is too large, you can email a wetransfer link. 

Is there a size requirement for visual media submissions? 

All visual media submissions must be one (1) or two (2) A4 pages 

Is there a word minimum or maximum for written submissions? 

The word count maximum for written submissions is 1,000 words. There is no word minimum. 

Is there a language requirement for written submissions?

Submissions in all languages are welcome. However, if you are submitting in a language other than English, please provide a translation of your work. The translation does not need to be exact or highly edited.

When will the zine be published? 

The zine will be published on the album’s anniversary, April 5, 2023.

Can I post my contribution onto my own blog? 

Yes! You are free to publish and share your submissions to your own blog. However, we would ask that you wait until after March 22 to publish your contribution, and that you use the tag #10YearsofParamore. 

Is there a list of prompts? 

Yes! You are not required to follow a prompt, but we have a list of prompts available for you to select from when you complete the statement of intent. 

What kinds of written contributions can be submitted? 

All types written submission are welcome! This can include essays, poetry, analysis, letters, and reflections. 

What kinds of visual submissions can be submitted? 

All types of non-moving visual submissions are welcome! Because of the zine format, we cannot accept video or gifs. Non-moving visual submissions includes artwork, edits, photography, and collages. 

When does the submission window close? 

The submission window closes at 23:59 UTC on April 1, 2023. 

Where will the zine be published? 

This is a digital zine that will be available at 10yearsofparamore.tumblr.com. 

How will I be credited for my submission?

We will ask all creators to tell us how they would like to be credited, whether that be a name, nickname, or url. Creators are also free to watermark their submissions. 

Can I submit artwork or writing that I’ve previously created? 

Yes! As long as your creation meets the visual or written submission requirements and relates to the zine theme, you can rework or submit work you have previously created.
