She loves lounging on the couch just as much as having a good adventure, she truly just wants to have whatever day you want to have! She likes to keep an eye on what’s going on outside the house, and will give suspicious characters a good WROOF, but as soon as you assure her that it’s ok she’s like “oh haha, yayyyy 🧡😴”. She’s also surprisingly normal about food, and has never counter surfed in her life (despite being tall enough to easily do so). She gets bored with repetitive training, but learns things VERY quickly, and once she’s got it, she’s got it. So… Will you take her?

Melania is a petite woman with an ashen look to her tanned skin and minor bags under her brown eyes. Her long black hair is tied into a side braid, and she has a golden streak on the front right side. She wears a simple, empire-style red dress with long bell sleeves featuring a lace overlay, an orange blanket draped over her lap, brown ankle boots, and a yellow shawl across her shoulders. Around her neck, she wears a short necklace with a tiny feather hanging from it, which is a fiery mixture of red, orange, and yellow.

Melania also wears a specialized bronze corset/brace around her torso to help secure the tubes implanted into her sides. The tubes connect to Hestia's Heart, which is mounted to the back of her wheelchair. Jason custom-made the wheelchair to be strong and sturdy, with dark red cushions on the back and seat for comfort. It's a beautiful chair with bronze, copper, and gold plating on the metal, and the wheel spokes are designed to resemble swirling flames.

Melaina is a ex-seer. She could see the future and make prophecies, but she lost her powers several years ago.

Facts about Melaina’s powers:

Her heart disease is actually an unbreakable curse placed on her. Likewise, her hair represents the status of the curse. Her hair used to be fully blonde but started turning black as the curse eroded her heart. When the last strands of gold disappear from her hair, Melaina will die

She couldn’t always control when she would have a vision and was very prone to having it in her sleep. However, she could initiate a vision through a special ritual she created to help guide her through the future sight

Her gift of storytelling is tied to her old abilities. Since she often had to tell people about their futures, she became an avid storyteller to keep things interesting

She knew she was going to lose her powers one day and knew when and how she would lose them. But despite being able to prevent that future (it wasn’t a fixed point), Melaina still let it happen as the alternative future was much worse. She misses her powers, but she doesn't regret giving them up

Melaina first appears at the end of Heartbroken, where it is revealed that she is the first and, so far, only recipient of Hestia's Heart. She had been in poor health for years and had moved to America, seeking new advances in medicine to help improve her condition. But sadly, Melaina was diagnosed with heart failure and given only a year to live. This led to Jason dedicating himself to inventing something that would give his mother more time while also elevating some of her pain. Jason created an invention designed to take over the work of pumping blood through a person's body to reduce strain on their heart, giving them an estimated five extra years to live.

Melaina is proud of what her son accomplished and was even prouder to see him win the World Exhibition. She knows how hard he worked to save her, and she will forever be grateful for what her son has done for her. Now that she can leave her assisted living home more often, Melaina looks forward to spending more time with Jason, Argo, his family, and their friends. She also hopes she'll be able to make friends of her own now and has already received invitations from Argo's fathers, plus Amelia and Rhys, to socialize together.

Trivia

Due to her weak heart and issues with blood flow, Melaina is always cold. It's why she wears long-sleeved clothes and always has a blanket or two with her. Ember will also cuddle her to warm her body (plus the robotic dragon LOVES riding on Melaina's lap)

She couldn't have biological children, so she always knew that if she had children, she would adopt them. She's happy that Jason came into her life, even if it weren't how she imagined adopting her child would go

Jason offered to make her an automaton companion, but Melaina couldn't decide which type of animal she would want. She loves all animals and has always found it hard to pick a favourite. She considered a dog, cat, monkey, bird and even something fictional but hasn't settled on anything yet

She is a fantastic storyteller. People love listening to her storytelling, whether it be a preexisting story or one she's created. As a child, Jason always looked forward to bedtime, as it meant he would get to listen to his mother's latest story

This love of storytelling is what led to Melaina becoming a writer, and while she focuses on children's books, she also writes other genres, too

What Makes An Aegislash

A friend and I were discussing what types and Pokémon we would have as gym leaders. They decided on fire/flying for himself and I figured steel would work for myself, because I do tend to favour steel Pokémon, somehow. So I drew her a Talonflame perched on their arm. Then we found out Talonflames were heavy and it probably wouldn't be physically possible. We tried discussing alternatives.

This is where it starts.

So. Steel type gym leader. What steel-type Pokémon would I be able to carry? My team was still kind of unsettled at that point, but still, I contemplated the Aegislash line.

(Do not carry Honedges, they will suck your soul.)

Anyway.

Aegislash.

An Aegislash weighs about 53kg (117lbs), with a height of approximately 1.7m (5'7). A Honedge, however, weighs a measly 2.0kg (4.4lbs) , with a height of 0.8m (2'7.5).

So, you may be thinking, "So what? Evolution makes Pokémon bigger!"

A Doublade weighs 4.5kg (10lbs), with the same height as a Honedge.

I play Dungeons and Dragons (D&D)s, so let's refer to that a little bit. Don't worry, you don't need to know anything about it other than that it's mostly set in medieval times.

The Aegislash line is clearly a reference to the legend with King Arthur and the stone, set in medieval times, which is why that's important.

Anyway.

The heaviest weapon I can find in the D&D handbook would be the pike and the heavy crossbow, both sitting at 8kg (18lbs).

Also, in general, when we think of swords we tend to think of longswords. Those tend to weigh 1.1-2kg (2.4-4.4lbs), which checks out, for the Honedge.

So maybe, just maybe, it's the shield that makes Aegislash so heavy!

Medieval shields weigh about 2.75 lbs/sq ft. That's about 13.5kg/m^2. Now, that sounds like a lot but... Not really. Circular shields tend to have a diameter of about 60cm. That's 0.6m, or about 2ft in diameter. So... if one were to run a quick calculation for area, that's 0.283 m^2 (3.14 sq ft). That's... less than 4kg (8.8lbs).

A quick sum makes a shield and a sword at about 6kg (13.2lbs).

And, wow! That is significantly less than 53kg (117lbs)!

And so begs the question, why is an Aegislash so heavy? They're really just possessed swords, after all.

I told all of this to my friend, who then told me to look at Magnemite and Magneton. So, time for a little detour!

A Magnemite is 30.5cm (1ft) in height and 6kg (13.2lbs) in weight. A Magneton is 1m (3'3) in height and 60kg (132lbs) in weight. A Magneton is clearly 3 Magnemites fused together, so 6kg (13.2lbs) to 60kg (132lbs)? Something doesn't sound right, does it?

So now, I ask you to take a look at how the Magnemite-parts in the Magneton are ordered. They sit in a pyramidal shape. Their heights are closer to 50cm (1'7.5) per Magnemite-part than 30.5cm (1ft). So Magnetons aren't just 3 Magnemites in a trench coat, but rather 3 enlarged Magnemites in a trench coat.

So, if the Magnemite-parts are larger in size, then they must be heavier, yes? 50cm (1'7.5) height makes 25cm (10 inches) radius (Magnemite-part) as opposed to 15cm (6 inches) radius (Magnemite). Run some quick comparative calculations by volume of sphere proportions... That makes about 27.8kg (61.3lbs) per Magnemite-part. Of course, this assumes a Magnemite is a sphere, which it is not, so subtract a bit here and there with the height and the volume to form the magnets and voila!

20kg (44lbs) per Magnemite-part makes 60kg (132lbs) Magneton.

Magnemite and Magneton? They make sense. Their scaling by proportions makes sense.

So... What's going on with Aegislash?

Earlier, we calculated according to average weapon sizes. Now, let's calculate according to Aegislash's proportions.

Aegislash is 1.7m (5'7) tall. Longswords were about 1.2m (3'11) long. Let's scale up the sword part of the Aegislash to get... 2.8kg (6.17lbs). Not too much of a difference here!

The diameter of an Aegislash's shield is approximately half of that of its height. That makes 85cm (2'9.5) in diameter and 42.5cm (1'5) in radius.

Medieval shields weigh about 2.75 lbs/sq ft. That's about 13.5kg/m^2.

Remember that from earlier? Great, let's use that to calculate the weight of Aegislash's shield again... That makes 7.66kg (16.9lbs).

Add the two up, we get what should be Aegislash's weight, by proportion: ~10.5kg (23.1lbs)

That is still, most definitely, a far cry from 53kg (117lbs).

So what else makes up the weight of an Aegislash?

From Aegislash's Pokédex entry:

What does a king wear?

Full plate armor weighs 29.5kg (65lbs), bringing the total up to 40kg (88lbs). Closer, but not quite.

A floor-length cloak like that of royalty can weigh about 4kg (8.8lbs). A crown would weigh about 2.26kg (5lbs).

46.26kg (103.8lbs).

Even closer still.

Like with Magnemite and Magneton, the remaining bit of weight can easily be waived off as the other details of Aegislash, such as the sash or the thick grip, bringing the total mass of Aegislash to its recorded 53kg (117lbs).

I can really only draw one conclusion from this.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown - to wield an Aegislash is to carry the weight of a king at war. Do not do so lightly, for though Aegislash are not as prone to soul-sucking as the rest of its line, it is still quite capable of doing so.

The me that is a steel-type gym leader... Well. I was never made for the crown - I don't think xe'll use an Aegislash after all.

So, I'm back, and I don't think I'll ever recover, I get such a drug-like euphoria from it. I've already lost 3 pounds, and I'm so determined. It feels nice to feel so motivated after months of depression binging, and I feel like I'm actually going to make progress. The fact that my girlfriend very obviously still has feelings for her "friend" gives me so much self hatred, it's been actually helping me stay on track. Very bittersweet I guess. Anyways, I'm deleting all of my followers that aren't 3D related to spare innocents from my issues, and I'll be writing here daily.

In just over a year, I've gained 68 pounds. I feel like throwing up and crying just having to type that out. I've become a slob, I've neglected all self care, and my self esteem has been at rock bottom for months. I don't have my measurements, but I find the number on the scale motivates me more. Feels like I see results faster.

Gotta say, BIG pat on the back for me and a “Well done!”to myself so far for this amazing effort. And I can say that with confidence because it is a great effort so far. It’s comforting to know that I am doing something right - even though I keep thinking about macros and “should I eat this?” or “can I eat that?” and I am STILL losing weight for now.

I realise in the early stages it can be like this for a lot of people and then in a few weeks/months comes the dreaded “plateau” and no weight gets lost for a while. I had that when I did slim fast MANY years ago - 8 weeks and no weight loss then it just started coming off again. Although it felt like I lost nothing at first, you definitely feel *something* changing in your body - the composition of it for example - love handles started to go, my stomach went a bit flatter.... things like that. No weight loss, but you still feel good somehow.

I really hope I can get under 200lbs before the end of the year as that would be amazeballs. There are 26 weeks left until the end of the year - so that works out at around 2.5lbs per week - which should be doable. 

Only thing I know for sure is that once all this weight comes off - it is NEVER EVER EVER going back on. That is something I will guarantee myself for the rest of my natural life. 35 years of gluttony and greediness is coming to an end - slimmer, fitter and healthier me on the way. This is the year for me to do this. I am 5 months late in starting, but I mean that the timeframe of 1 year is going to be mine to conquer. I have to average 2.5lbs per week to get to my goal weight. Lets see how it goes and just take it from there......

But it is clear you do not have the mental capacity to see outside of your own emotions on the subject, because you resorted to name-calling of “creepy” after I bothered to put in the effort to explain myself to you, logically and historically in this essay here: Link for anyone else interested in reading it.

But I doubt you read more than a paragraph of it. Otherwise, you would have seen then that I wrote about how the shipping of Fuu when she’s 15 is not about sexuality, but about the intimate and emotional love the two bore for each other in the anime. 

And, you would have read how Mugen as a character is then just as morally flawed as any shipper because, your belief in his feelings aside, he:

1. makes a joke of raping her in Ep 2.

2. asks her to show him her breasts in Ep 11.

3. asks Jin what he thinks of her “man to man” in ep 12.

4. admits to liking and then kisses a girl younger than her that looks identical to her in the videogame.

So sure. Alright. I’m creepy in your mind. I’ve been called better. I’ve been called worse. But I hope for your own mental state that you do not like or idolize Mugen as a character.

Also... Sure, you can argue that Fuu is mentally a child, though I disagree. Why would a child be wandering Japan alone, taking care of herself or traveling with two grown men? 

But I must disprove your argument of Fuu being physically a child. Many girls actually stop physically developing a year or two after puberty. I personally, stopped developing at 13. 

The average height of a Japanese woman today is 5″1. 70 years ago, it was 4″9.

Fuu is canonically 158cm. 5″2. Above average of the modern, and of 70 years ago.

As for the average weight, it is not given. But, she does not seem that far off from adult Japanese women. The average modern weight of Japanese women is between 116lb and 117lb. This is far below their western counterparts if you’re assuming Fuu is unnaturally “tiny” or “thin”.

She’s also shown having very wide hips, which is the universal indicator of a woman’s femininity, as it is for the purpose of childbearing.

Argue all you want, but bringing in physicality is not sufficient enough to say Fuu is a child. If your basis of Fuu having the physicality of a child is just assuming a woman with a smaller chest size is therefore not physically a grown woman, then that is offensive to petite women.

 If I’m creepy for shipping an emotional romance, well, the official creators are creepy for making this her main art in the Roman Album, emphasizing her hips, and buttocks.

If you’re going to call anyone creepy, maybe you should direct your resentment at the creators of Samurai Champloo, or perhaps the entire anime genre as a whole. 

How many people own body pillows and figurines, a lot of which is OFFICIAL, of underaged characters such as Yoko from Gurren Langan who is 14? Or Rei and Asuka from Evangelion who are also 14?

I’m not justifying nor criticizing these examples. Not really a fan of these characters. I just ship a cute romance of Mugen x Fuu.

Personally, I just don’t think you should embarrass yourself trying to take a moral high ground if you like an anime that completely defies your moral view of the world. You have ignored the Japanese culture of the past and present, the evidence I’ve provided, and the artistic value of the show.

But I’m glad, regardless that you “asked” what you asked. I got to make a logically sound, and deeply personal post that others got to read and enjoy and agree with. 

I have nothing to hide and am not afraid of the “controversy”. I love the love between the characters. Not some sexual relationship that didn’t exist in the show. I love this anime, and have made content for and got to talk with dozens of other Fuugen shippers who have praised my posts and have asked me to make more. 

So, thank you. Thank you for being you and taking the time to send me a message. I am also happy you remained anonymous... It is better than having a bunch of shippers overloading you with hateful comments and disagreements.

And I hope that in these troubled times we live in of 2020/2021, when there are far greater issues to worry about than a girl on the internet shipping an implied canon ship that many others also ship, that you and your family stay safe and happy.

Please be happy and positive, and please don’t let some “creepy” shipper on the internet get to you so badly. There are far worse monsters in the world you can be directing your energy on.
