i will NEVER shut up about nico di angelo’s accent. rolled r’s, hard i’s, speaking unbelievably fast and tripping over his words. italian!! “oh but mali, in house of hades the seven were surprised to learn nico was italian.'' first of all i love the seven but its rlly dumb of them not to notice nico was italian when his last name is DI ANGELO. second. a certain 11 year old nico trained himself out of his accent as a method for escapism, he wanted to flee his past and his family and his descent, and he wanted to fit in. of course he would hide his accent. his time at camp half blood (and ofc his quest with reyna, and jason’s acceptance of him) helped him start to embrace his heritage and past. when he started dating will, he ofc began to trust will more than anybody else. every so often, nico would let his guard down and let his accent slip. eventually, he started using it freely around everybody. i see this hc as a part of his growth and character development and even if it’s a small detail it means a lot to me.

things about my vampire diaries dr:

i scripted my love Hermione in, i made this whole big backstory for her and us but to keep it short she was a siphoner witch who got turned into a vampire in 1994 so she became a heretic and in september of 2024 (it’s mordern day in my dr, sorry) she moves to virginia from london to attend whitmore and that’s when we meet

the timeline is kinda complicated im shifting for some of the plot but some things didn’t/won’t happen like the plots of season 6 and 7 won’t happen but i’m shifting to season 3 a little bit after klaus turned tyler into a hybrid but it went down differently in my dr but it’s hard to explain cause i don’t even really know how it went down i’m just winging it but klaus is not as ruthless so after that he kinda just leaves us alone my reasoning for this is because it’s gonna be the beginning of the summer in my dr and i want to have a chill summer without ppl trying to kill me and my friends but after we start college back THAT’S when the show plot is gonna start happening again (oh and tyler didn’t get sired to klaus)

In class today we were looking at polar vortex in North America rn and one of the places my teacher talked about was the province i think you live in (you're Canadian, right???) and he said it was like -40 Degrees Celsius there!!!!! Hello my sweet summer child! <3 You're right, I am Canadian! And im not going to lie to you, its been rough out here. And more importantly, its been CONSISENTLY COLDER THAN THE SURFACE OF MARS HERE.

My area of the province has set several temperature records in the past few days:

January 14, 2024: New record of -45.1, Old record of -41.6 set in 2020

January 13, 2024: New record of -45.3, Old record of -41.7 set in 1972

January 12, 2024: New record of -45.9, Old record of -39.4 set in 1969

This doesn't account for the Windchill factor which effectively made the temperatures closer to -55 degrees or colder. To put it into context the only way I can think to, According to Environment Canada at:

-28 to -39 degrees Celsius exposed skin can freeze in 10-30 minutes.

-40 to -47 degrees Celsius exposed skin can freeze in 5-10 minutes.

-48 to -54 degrees Celsius exposed skin can freeze in 2-5 minutes.

Literally not a single car in my family's worked, no matter what we did. This is including extended family, so like, 13 cars. Its just too damn cold for them. Hospitals were literally wrapping their ambulances with heated blankets in between calls so that the entire engine wouldn't freeze. In their heated garage.

Its about an eight day wait for any kind of towing or boosting services. From any provider.

We out here, we cant see anything through the ice fog because the air itself is frozen, but we out here.

Also, I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to give the rest of you much farther south than me tips for surviving other wandering polar vortex's in the future, because at least we're prepared up here:

YOU NEED SURVIVAL EQUPMENT IN YOUR CAR!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!! I'm talking heavy duty gloves, hats, socks, blankets, those heat reflective thermal blankets. If possible, have enough for at least two people but if you're a family ensure there's clothes for every member of your family. I also highly recommend that you get hand and feet warmers to put into your boots and gloves to prevent frostbite

On that note, dressing for seriously cold weather is no fucking joke either, okay? There's an art to it, and that art is L A Y E R S . More layers than you think you need, and then one more. If you can bend your arms or legs without struggling at least a little bit, put another sweater on, underneath your windproof thick outer layer. And another pair of socks. Never leave the house without a hat and your ears covered.

Here's a good guide, which includes the warning signs, symptoms, and suggested actions for each stage of frostbite and hypothermia. Which, in case you didn't know happen in three stages of severity similar to burns but on the opposite side of the temperature scale.

Sorry to turn this into a Winter Weather Safety PSA but I genuinely cannot stress enough how important it is to be prepared in extreme cold. And please, for the love of everything good on this earth, do not and do not let your friends or anyone else walk anywhere when they've been drinking. Do. Not.

Every year in my city at LEAST several collage kids freeze to death because "their place isn't that far" "I have a good jacket." "Ive done it before."

People have frozen to death outside bars because they fell in a snowbank and were too drunk to get out and nobody saw them, because they tried to walk home.

I'm between a rock and a hard place. I genuinely love her so much but we kinda had a rocky phase where she really distanced herself and it kinda put me in a weird place mentally where I started to doubt things with us.. then, Erika found her way back into my life at that period of time and all of those old feelings came back, and now they're even stronger. El is being so understanding and it's so difficult. Realistically, she's a whole ocean away & we'd still have a few years of working really hard before we'd actually be together. I genuinely love them both and it's incredibly painful.

I know what the realistic choice is, but, it will absolutely kill me losing El. It's so confusing. El is genuinely so important to me, but sometimes I think I'm not as important to her... And idk if that's the truth, or just my head hc she has a hard time showing affection regularly. She's INCREDIBLY affectionate when she's tired lol.

It just feels like she's someone different now, and she's changed SO MUCH (for the better) but I feel like those changes kinda brought her away from me. When we first met she was crazy hypersexual like me, super charming and affectionate, and now it's like I gotta beg for her to be flirty or send pics and even then she always says she'll do it later and later never comes. I know it's not all me, but my mind tells me it is...

Jesus Christ I'm sorry for dumping that I'm just really really upset about the whole situation. I've never genuinely loved more than one person before. I keep blaming myself like I did something wrong by even talking to Erika again but it was supposed to be just a quick catch up.. once we started talking daily it really started progressing it feels like we're picking up where we left off. Like, El was just a kid when Erika and I were in each other's lives lmao like I've known this girl for fuckin 13 years man. She was in my life when my parents were alive and I was a punk ass hoodrat teenager. I feel a big part of my soul healing when she's in my life, like a big portion of my pain and confusion over the years was rooted in losing her. I've said that about a million girls to make myself feel like I've made the right choice with them .. but when you look into the actual process of a twin flame relationship it's scary how relatable it is. Like, we had stopped talking for at least 10 years.. and we are the EXACT same person. It's CREEPY. She collects oddities and loves concerts and music, she is a fuckin pervert but has never played out those fantasies irl (just like me) she is obsessed with morbid and dark things. She's very charming and poetic even tho she doesn't know it. She gives me the love I give her and that's the most important thing to me in life. The love Erika has for me is unmatched. Like, she's flying me out to Ohio and driving me halfway across the state to see my grandma because she knows it's important to me... I genuinely can't think of another person I've EVER loved who would do the same ..

Not to mention Erika is a manager at a really high end fashion store and makes bank, I can honestly see her becoming a GM for the entire store. - I won't have to worry about being the sole provider in the relationship and that is very important to me. Don't you think that it's a bit dodgy how 13 basically kills a TARDIS to kill the Daleks and never gets called out on it?

Oh it's super messed up she did it, it's also a bit messed up she wasn't called on it, either, lbr, but this has been one of those things i'm not sure how i feel about. Because hm, hello, that was a murder. That they didn't face consequences for, or even a call out. But also, it's not the first time the doctor's done a murder and not been called on it or faced any consequences for, it happens occasionally.

I know it's happened more than once, but hilariously the only one i can remember rn is one also written by chibnall. Maybe he just has a ~thing (I am talking about dinosaurs on a space ship, which is an episode i hate and probably only remember Because i can't stand it, but still). I distinctly remember rewatching the episode and thinking to myself that I could add that to my list of episodes where the doctor offs somebody, and now I can't remember the others, which is typical, really. Though, I personally think 12 pushed the guy, because he'd never have jumped on his own, so that moment's on the list.

(this whole list was a Thing to start with bc i find it fascinating that the doctor sometimes casually does genocides and doesn't catch Half the fandom crap for it than they do if they kill one person. Something something about crimes that we are able to comprehend and feel emotionally and those we aren't. Like, I cannot comprehend the total annihilation of a species in a single second at all, but I can comprehend a single death and have an emotional response to that one. I find it fascinating ngl).

But to get back on subject, in the end, I think my real answer to this would be to say that it depends on Why she's not called on it. When it aired, people in fandom immediately clocked what she'd done was bad and messed up, so obviously a telling was not strictly Necessary in that people worked it out for themselves.

But, was she not called out for it in the show bc A) they didn't believe it was Necessary to do so bc it wasn't supposed to be bad, B) they didn't believe it was necessary to do so because they realised the audience members both old enough to understand and familiar enough with the snow to know tardises are alive would realise what had happened Without mentioning it and know what she'd done was bad without a hand hold or C) she was not called on it simply because there was nobody To call her on it.

Or it could be a mix of the three different things above. Like, they thought it was messed up for her to do it, but she simply was not called on it bc it was exactly like a few of her other greatest and very messed up hits. Nobody had the context to call her on it, so she wasn't called on it even though it Was messed up just because nobody knew it was messed up.

I like, work on a case by case basis as to whether media should call out its characters for bad behaviour and if it's wrong for them not to because you can't paint everything with the same brush and have any sense of nuance, so I guess I think it depends on if you think it's acceptable or not for a show to portray a character doing something bad that is obviously bad without mentioning it, and if that not doing so implies any kind of acceptance of it. I don't think in general the lack of call outs in media imply acceptance, personally, but that doesn't mean there aren't times when call outs Are necessary.

But I do genuinely think it depends on their reasoning as to if it's actually dodgy they didn't do it or not. Like, if they didn't call her on it bc she apparently did nothing wrong, that's dodgy as hell. If they didn't because they portrayed something bad and trusted the audience to get that without being told, that's ambiguous to me and i am personally unsure how i feel about this instance, and since i've not worked it out in two years, I don't expect to any time soon.

If they didn't do it for watsonian reasons involving the lack of informed knowledgeable characters actually there to call her on it, then i'm fine with that in a vacuum? The fam don't ever actually work out if they think the tardis is alive or some kind of super argumentative AI and that 13 implodes one would probably suggest the ai thing to them, lets be real (even though they'd be very wrong, she hides her worst from them). Jack has basically been trained by the doctor to not ask too many questions at this point by the doctor treating him awfully when he does, And on top of that, he's more ruthless than the doctor to start with and I doubt he'd care much.

I think, in general, instead of a callout, i'd have personally liked a Consequence instead? I don't think bad actions necessarily require a call out bc audiences aren't thick and neither are kids, especially In context of the lack of people to call her out on it. But I do think that consequences should be more often utilised unless you're deliberately showing a moment where somebody Gets Away With Something.

So I'd have loved a consequence for her. Like, 13 desperately needs another tardis being alive and well to do something vital and Oh No the world is going to burn to a cinder bc she killed the last one in a callous last ditch plan which suddenly makes it very clear exactly What she did by killing one! So she's slapped in the face by it even though she didn't have anybody to call her on it at the time. The audience is reminded that what she did was wrong without compromising characterisation, ~viola.

TLDR, it depends on Why she wasn't called on it as to if i think it's necessarily dodgy she wasn't (personally i'd have called her on it, but I don't think it's an automatic black mark she wasn't considering the circumstances of there being nobody would could effectively do so), but i do think it's dodgy she didn't catch any consequences for it, actually? idk, i would have done it differently but i'm a terrible writer so I don't know how. I also would like to know the plan for this show pre-pandemic so i can see what didn't happen through necessity via episode cuts and what didn't happen bc nobody thought it was necessary. It's so hard trying to pick apart anything post rotd without knowing this.

Lol... It wasn't on AO3 and it wasn't about Bloodborne. I made truly a happy ending for my beloved character from Warhammer! But of those I have on AO3 it's "Видения моря" because no one left sad there..... both sides liked what happened and do not try to act otherwise........ Phahahahah

Once, not on AO3. I had like 66 fics there, and yeah, the largest one got some hate! Some people don't like fairytales, but nobody makes them read like 40 chapters, but they still do it and get mad :^)

Yeah, I write it sometimes. When I get the right mood (level of horniness is too high). Actually wiriting sex scenes is a good way of characterization, and I take it seriously, especially if it's not self-care fic (a self-care fic is more about your own preferences in a character behaviour). Every detail of a character's actions is told by their habits, tastes, childhood, relations with others, mood and etc. Every word matters!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No. I wrote one 8 years ago. It was angsty. And funny a bit. For a fandom Amnesia The Dark Descent x Warhammer

Wiriting only when I have LOTS of inspiration, right mood and characters "talking" in my head, otherwise no, I just can't.

I rarely can detalize environment, it's too hard sometimes! And I got so invested in feelings, so later there is no space for describing environment... So I skip it, when it's not necessary xd

my magnus archives dnd au (write an anthem worth repeating), for aforementioned reasons of not feeling good about the source material anymore :( a shame bc i thought my writing in that fic was nice

i think i'm pretty good at characterization! i get a lot of comments saying i give good insight into how characters feel which is lovely to hear, bc thats what i like most about writing fanfic!

i don't trust myself enough to do it right... i write a lot of fic for japanese media so the most i'll do is use the japanese word for something that can't be translated (names of foods for example)

I had a WEIRD dream this morning that reads like something straight off of Wattpad so I figured, why not post it here?

I fell asleep again this morning after my alarm went off. (I know - bad Ashley. But I don’t work until 2 so it was fine.) and that was when I had this dream.

So I’m a kid again in this dream, maybe 13 or 14 years old. And I’m in a generic summer camp program, riding a small activity bus to some field trip. (Yesterday I took my students - I work at a daycare that’s currently having its summer camp program - on their first field trip of the summer. Also was in summer camp programs pretty much every summer of my childhood.)

And all of a sudden our bus is hijacked by KGB agents. (My family are big movie people and we’ve been rewatching the Indiana Jones movies in preparation for seeing the new one. We watched Crystal Skull last night, which takes place during the red scare and the villains were the KGB. That’s probably why.)

Fortunately for us however, the KGB doesn’t exactly get us very far… because for some reason Sylvester Stallone was our bus driver. (DO NOT ASK ME WHY I DON’T KNOW)

And obviously no one fucks with the Stallion. Like they didn’t even try. Sorta just noped outta that.

So Mr. Stallone pulls the bus over in the middle of nowhere and lets the kids off at a conveniently placed government trailer full of Rangers. (I’m reading a novel rn in which one of the MCs is a former Ranger so I think that’s why.) Giving the “commies” the stink-eye the entire time like an overworked teacher glaring at the “problem children” to behave.

Thank you Mr. Stallone.

-But not before the agents had somehow poisoned all of us. Or at least they CLAIMED to have poisoned us. And as I’m getting off the bus one of them for some reason gives ME two little orange pills that were supposedly the antidote because they planned to recapture me alive for something nefarious later.

So I was stuck with the moral and psychological dilemma of whether I should take the pills, take one pill and give my BFF the other, or give the Rangers the pills in hopes that they could make more and save the whole class. OR. Is it a trap and are the pills the poison?

In the end I gave the Rangers the pills, and they crushed one in half and made me take it as a Guinea pig to see if it was poison. Because taking half means a smaller dose, so they have a higher chance of saving me if it IS poison. (Look I know that doesn’t make sense but this was a DREAM!)

- But I somehow managed to choke on that tiny thing as it was going down my throat and that’s how I woke up. I think I got some phlegm at the back of my throat and that affected the dream.

Bottom line: my brain is a friggin WEIRD place when it’s unsupervised. 🧠💭

what’s your favorite sims death? I'm gonna go with disease. I like that horribly hilarious coughing and how it spreads to everyone. Fire and hunger are good too, but one is too noisy and destructive and the other one just takes too bloody long :D

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? No. Why would I? If anything I wish there was more body diversity in the game (ts2) as even the 'fat' state looks pretty slim to me.

Do you use move objects? Yes, every time lol.

Favorite mod? ACR - I use this tweaked version by @episims and am very happy with it although it torments me to no end as my sims will not behave

First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? It was The Sims: House Party. I think I was eight. I returned it because I learned that I needed the base game to run it, and my allowance couldn't get me both. But I was able to exchange it for The Sims: Deluxe Edition which was awesome.

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? It's a toss-up between Marama Tuatahi and Maitea Lehenik for me, they had so much character. If I have to choose one I'll go with Maitea because I loved playing her as a hot widow that all the men in town heart-farted over, and her particular style was unique in my little world so far.

Have you made a simself? Yeah, probably a dozen times, in recent memory mostly to test the ts3 and ts4 sim creators. My first sim-self I made as a 13-year old. I made myself as a teenager, my younger sibling as a child and our parents, and I picked romance aspiration for myself, not knowing then what that meant as far as gameplay was concerned. I grew up to marry Darren Dreamer and had an identity crisis when I got a bad memory out of it.

What sims traits do you give yourself? Brooding, Couch potato, Shy, Vegetarian, Frugal

Which is your favorite EA hair color? Uh... Red? Are we talking ts4 colors because I don't mess with that

Favorite EA hair? The store hair that's like a bowl cut

Favorite life stage? Teenagers :D all the drama, none of the boring responsibilities

What’s your favorite game (1,2,3,4)? sims 2 for definite. I've dabbled in ts3 and have a grudging respect for it, 4 not so much, and 2 definitely feels like an upgrade from 1 to me.

How has your “sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? At first, starting at Christmas 2004, I only wanted to play Veronaville because it was pretty. I later played some in Pleasantview to make my sim self and realize I'm not really a romance sim. Then I would build random half-decent custom worlds for years, gradually discovering cc and sims blogs, and through the latter get inspired to play the premades exclusively for yet more years, experimenting with megahoods and uberhoods. And now I'm all about the test of time challenge, and we'll see how long I'll be able to stick with it.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? You know, I just wish they'd kept making expansions for The Sims Medieval. Like you could have a variety pack where you could choose a different map layout, different styles for the different buildings (yes EA, with different facades and floorplans too!) maybe an expansion that let you actually go to The Village and like Tredony and stuff on diplomatic or trade missions and actually see different people and different worlds
