Medieval village in 15mm scale with houses from Hovels and pigs from Irregular Miniatures (Miniature Wargaming 13, September 1988). Dennis Coleman's buildings are still available on the Hovels website in multiple scales from 6-28mm, and you can still find Ian Kay's pigs and more on Irregular's website under the "Animals" link.

Dark Elves heavy cavalry (Dar'kalon) WIP
15mm Demonworld miniatures
As long as they aren't shot at, they are really a powerful and versatile unit. They can easily survive charging a pike formation.

Drunkenly staring at the Zombiesmith website thinking about how neat it would be to have some 15mm Quar armies, to go along with the 28mm Quar squads I have. Look at these tiny guys:

DBA 3.0 mini tournament at the club in preparation for Cancon 2024
Unfortunately went 0-3, but my first two games were against 3rd and 4th places out of the 12 so that softens the blow.
Unfortunately Parthia having 6 Cataphract (4Kn) and 6 Horse Archer (LH) offers very little utility and makes half your army very poor at fighting.
May switch up my Book I/II army with Zenobia's army or even just trade some of the lighthorse for anything else just to have a stronger main line.
I'm excited to paint my Ming Dynasty to mix it up.

I might try and fish some ideas here.
Just as a fun project with little chance of playing games for it, I got some 15mm scaled miniatures for two forces for the game “Stargrunt II”, a war game with focus on platoon level combat in narrative play and scenario match designs, no points costs for units and such, and a third player “the umpire” is recommended to work as a game master of sorts.
And the universe is basic, and made to be a backdrop more for the players to make their own setting than anything. So, I got one force that is the “Space UN Peacekeepers: Future Scandinavian contingent” that actually fire back. Green camo troopers with closed helmets, and white peacekeeper vehicles.
And I also have the “Predators: But military!” as well.
But I got a third force to be very generic as well, and to add variety for scenario games or opposing forces when introducing games.

Mercs. Something like “Boston Raiders” or something with khaki uniform, armour, and some green details on the armour because that is their “regimental colour”. And red visors. But they have vehicles too.
Tumblr media
Or, one at least. But I don’t know what to paint it in. Desert camo feels very space age-y, but would it just be khaki (dull?), or some good current desert camo. Or for added fun times, kind of scuffed looking stuff that you would see in the earlier days of modern warfare? WW2 German camo, I am thinking.
What would you guys think would look neat? Fishing for ideas, and see what I am missing.

could've used Robo for this, considering who the gun's for, but I always use Ann for scale
Project Helsin'Gok-E has just escalated a bit

I have not read the article in its entirety yet. I'm just fascinated by the idea that Murat's many uniforms require wargamers to have a whole set of tiny Murats for every occasion...

My 10mm Samurai preorder from Wargame Atlantic came in today. I'm so excited I have to share somewhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The box has 4 copies if this frame. I love these sculpts. Most if my sub 15mm (non mech) minis are in metal, and the detail on these hardplastic sprue blow them away. The calvary in particular looks gorgeous. There's a bit of 'void fill' on the three unit close combat strip, but at this scale and compared to most of my metals minis it's not bad at all.
As for why I wanted this set so badly...
Tumblr media
I've been kicking around the ideas for a "Daimyo and Daikaiju" game for years now. Having WGA of all companies release the exact minis I needed to make this happen just seems like kismet. No more excuses, time to get writing and play testing.

Thanks Manny G!

Grenadier Models 1978 catalog, cover by Ray Rubin. This early catalog included the 25mm "Wizzards and Warriors" fantasy miniature range, the "Space Squadrons 2998" spaceships, and the 25mm "Starsoldiers" figures which were "inspired by G R Dickenson's Dorsai series, The Forever War by Joe Haldeman, and Starship Troopers by R A Heinlein."
Alongside the 25mm Western Gunfighters are a number of historical wargaming ranges that disappeared from later Grenadier catalogs -- 25mm Ancients (Sumerians, Egyptians, Republican Romans, Carthaginians, Imperial Romans, Gauls, Dacians, plus a gladiator set), 25mm English Civil War and Medieval Chivalry, and 15mm American Civil War.

I'm kinda intrigued by the idea of a battle royal wargame,
reason being that a long ass time ago I played a fair bit of Apex, loved the game, great gameplay, loved the aesthetic, did not love the constant push of new characters or the 40gb of download every few months
it's a terrible idea but I'm going to run with it,
sci-fi game, you will need:
some dice, I don't know what sort yet, at the very least something numerical and a scatter dice
a custom deck of item cards, talking guns, health packs, over shields, grenades, upgrades (I don't have that yet, this is more of an outline than an actual game)
a really big board, talking the size they use for massive 28ml scale mass combat games, if not bigger, ideally fairly densely with terrain, though open areas also good
Lots of friends to play with, each with a single sci-fi mini, not sure of the scale, 10-15mm makes the board really big, 28mm pretty and possibly more available
each round each player gets to make two actions: Move, shoot an equipped weapon, find(draw from the deck) a few(3?) item cards, use an item card, land(enter the map)
entering the map - on the first round, a PC must spend their first action on landing, they choose a location on the map, roll 1 die and the scatter die, then place their mini where indicated
every other round starting on the 3rd round, the ring shrinks 6 inches from each end, PCs take damage at the start of their turn if outside the ring
if your character loses all their health then they are out, game ends when only one PC remains
PCs probably start with a shitty melee weapon and maybe some powers or abilities that make them something other than a lump of hit points
