Due to a strange combination of going back and forth between Daredevil and Moon Knight and the Kane Chronicles, this weird baby thought was birthed in my mind:

Matt finds out he has a teenage daughter (the reader)—Surprise! I’m thinking college or maybe senior year of high school one-night-stand/turned-unexpected-baby. A new kid/parent an adjustment in and of itself, but to complicate the matter, said teenager is the avatar of one of the Egyptian gods. I’d go for Ma’at (the personification of truth and justice), Osiris (god of the dead but I think he was taken already), or Anubis (as the guardian of the dead), or Thoth (god of knowledge and writing) as the deity. I feel like any of these would be a nice mesh to the lawyer-by-day-vigilante-by-night gig of Matt’s

Cue, in no particular order:

Finding out each other’s alter egos while they’re fighting the same baddies

Foggy and the Moon Boys having a “who is the better uncle” competition

Karen and Layla being the best aunts

Matt and the kid’s deity co-parenting

Angsty discussions of religion and funerary practices (classic “my parent is a Catholic and I’m a pagan” conversation)

The Moon Boys threatening Matt if anything happens to the reader, and Matt doing the same right back at them

Sparring as family bonding!

Referring solely to episodes 1-4, Fisk really is punishing Vanessa for the affair.

He might claim he isn't. But by now we all know how his ego and pride can get, and if it's injured well he doesn't handle matters in a reasonable manner.

He can't stand the fact that Vanessa was capable enough to handle the finances and to expand their business, and he hates that she wants to be in a leadership position. Really I think even if there wasn't the added issue of the affair, he'd still chafe at the fact she wants to have some power in the relationship.

Fisk, Vanessa is somehow willing to accept and support all the fucked up shit you do, from racketeering, murdering, executions, general corruption, smuggling, and much more. If you want your relationship to last, maybe treat her as your equal. Which is probably asking too much from the same man who puts her on a pedestal.

Wondering what scenes they save their money for because I low-key wasn't expecting a bottle episode

ben poindexter x buck cashman

went and fell a little in love with a vision of them together sprung to life in my mind in the last moments of the season after the hints that they may be both reconsidering their stance and actions. then i fell down into the rabbit hole of thinking how they actually have various aspects in common, how they instead differ, and with hopeless romantic lenses, how they could be complementary and fall eventually in love.

i have to say i was always saddened by poindexter's villain arc in the show because of its origin rooted in a mental illness that was exploited and that he was repeatedly desperately grappling with in order to overpower it, to the point that he almost blew his brains off in a last last-ditch attempt not to spiral completely. in the end, he never managed to become his own person—he was first the army's, then the fbi's, the fisks', the prison's, the meds'.

we know close to nothing about buck other than he had a previous life before fisk brought him over, much like he did with ben. reading his original comic book character bio, he was an an agent to the united states government; so like with ben, he also seems to always have been someone else's soldier. citing his actor arty froushan, "he's an enigma wrapped in a riddle. he's a political aide, but all is not as it seems. he is operating on levels that don't immediately meet the eye. he seems very charming, slick, and he is. but there is a deadly side to him."

ben too can be charming, but he never manages to keep the act for long before spiralling and breaking down and revealing his own deadly side. buck on the contrary seems to be absolutely in perfect control of himself and can switch back and fort seamlessly between 'political aide' and fixer.

when fisk asks buck whether he remembers why he hired him, buck says that it was for his ability to think asymmetrically. on the flip side, one of the major traits of bordeline personality disorder, which pointdexter seems be diasogned with in childhood, is the incapability at integrating two opposing truths in one's worldview, which leads to black-and-white thinking.

and then, of course most notably in the understatement of the century, they are both excellent marksmen.

this all sounds extremely compelling to me since their both matching and clashing dispositions and skills, if they were to face-off. maybe because fisk sends cashman after bullseye to take him out once and for all.

and then, because i am a patent sucker for at least partial redemption and broken lonely people becoming a little less broken and lonely together, and possibly unhealthy obsessions, i want to seem them break free of their shackles, but in the process become completely codependent in their devotion for each other. buck would become ben's new north star, grounded in the ease of buck's self-assuredness and gray-tinted decency, but at the same time matching ben's deadly nature, so that ben would feel truly seen and accepted as he is for the first time without having to repress or hide any parts of himself like he had to do with his psychiatrist or julie. at the same time this freedom would allow him to be more clear-headed in the first place.

they would mostly self-servingly join matt's army to take down fisk and then run off together doing their own sometime-somewhat murderous thing.

Currently Watching Daredevil: Born Again...

It's very on the nose for how I'm feeling at least, with orange do do once again picked by the people, which is therapeutic for me (I watched all the horror and dystopian stuff last time with the quarantine too). It seems to be centering in the character journeys and challenges in a way that reflects the current goings on, writ smaller, via NY's politics and the attempt to balance the dirt, deeply weighty baggage, and keeping oneself together despite having a conscience and wanting to do so much more.... WHEW! I FEEL YOU MATTY!!! ...and of course some of the best players in the MCU when it comes to really getting into the human crust of these characters and, IMO the ABSOLUTE most interesting and BEST hero/villain chemistry. I really like the flavor this time. It's sparer, calmer, less "old school" MCU color and quip and more, again for me at least, catharsis and comfort given our current nazi oligarchy. I liked those cut-aways to the people of NY's thoughts about Fisk. Both the ones who loved/lauded the worst aspects of the man, and those who saw through them and remained resolute about remembering what he is. ...But the boiling points so far, are much more intense, even though there are fewer. -The violence sharper and more emotionally impactful both narrative-wise and basic fight choreo-wise, i.e. bloody compound fractures, blood splatter, and a big loss (yeah it sucks, but it feels necessary). So, far I give this VERY high marks. We are getting both character weight and a more somber but no less intriguing flavor to Daredevil. GOT DAMMIT I missed these folk. So far.... #ThisIsARec

The iron rebar ran through Edwin’s abdomen and embedded itself into the wall behind him with a sickening thud. The pain was all-encompassing and Edwin knew that it would be enough to discorporate a lesser ghost. For Edwin it wasn’t nearly enough to do that, but it did hurt something horrible. An agonizing kind of burn that went all the way through him and reminded him of being torn in two—a comparison he could unfortunately make with confidence.

now that I’m seeing daredevil born again posters and ads everywhere, I’m reminded of the REAL reason I hate that title and it’s because every time I see it, I hear Mandy Moore’s delivery of the line “Mary, you’re not born A GAY! You’re born AGAIN!” from Saved! in my head and I cannot possibly be expected to take the show seriously after that. It’s just not feasible.

dba i do love u bc u have my guy but where are my other guys the guy is the guy because of the other guys he needs those guys instead we have... dudes! and they'd be guys if they had some more complexity or were more interesting. these dudes are instead a bit flat, i dont know anything about these dudes! we barely even see the dudes and the guy interact in cool, interesting ways

and dba if that wasnt bad enoug, the massacared visuals! i wish the visuals were as creative or conceptual as the original series - just more modern, elevated. its a creative, complex character with these deeply dark stories that can be told in creative complex ways! there's been some beautiful shots and well edited sequences, but overall it looks a bit dull and doesn't stand out at all in comparison to the total modern tv scene. it's not like it's writing (not bad i reckon) is making it stand out either, but the og series was having good writing and a distinctive look behind it with the strongly saturated shots, silhouettes, focus on reflections and etc

anyway i love my guys and the dudes are there. rooting4 them and cant wait for 8&9
