Lori's 1641cc, almost ready to come off the engine stand.

All the original German engine tin was stripped and powder coated satin black before being installed with stainless steel phillips head hardware.

L-jet center plenum was disassembled, hot jet washed, painted detailed, then reassembled with a new center gasket and hardware. New oil spout and cap were also bolted on prior to installation on the engine with restored end castings and new German intake sleeves.

German dog house cooling fan was glass beaded and then painted before installation with backing plates on the new 60 amp alternator. Assembly was then dropped into the powder coated fuel injection specific fan shroud, again secured with matching stainless hardware.

The original German exhaust pipes were ceramic coated and installed with all new gaskets and hardware.

German Beru blue coil tops off the fan shroud. Recently acquired NOS heat exchangers and a ceramic coated muffler will go on once the engine is in the car. The same goes for much of the remaining fuel injection bits.

With a standard appearance, he had won several drag race championships in Indonesia. Fahmi owned this Beetle since 2009, it was originally a Daily Driven Beetle in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since 2012, Fahmi start use Butut in a Drag Strip. And start to win the Race until late 2019 “Butut” finally enter the workshop for restoration. This one fought me for way too long, but here is the 1641cc longblock for Lori's 1978 Super Beetle.

Stock 69mm crank, reground flywheel, rebuilt rods, stock reground -2 dished camshaft to get the backlash absolutely perfect, and SLR German lifters all stuffed in the original fuel injection magnesium case.

87mm pistons and cylinders, .065" deck across all 4 cylinders, brand new Autolinea stock port heads, new lower deflectors, and push rod tubes. 7.9:1 compression.

New Schadek 26mm oil pump, Aircooled Dynowerks tuned up DVDA distributor, new oil cooler on German offset, powder coated pulley tin, and CB Performance billet crank pulley.

I have all the original German tin powder coated and ready to install coming up soon...

Dave H's 1641cc short block ready for him to take over and finish up. Jet washed case, align bored .020" over, polished German crank, rebuilt German rods, Scat C25 cam. New main, rod and cam bearings. Crank end play set to .004", gland nut torqued to 315ft/lb and new clutch installed. Reconditioned German oil pump with new cover installed along with a new Santana style Aluminum pulley. Also added a reconditioned German oil cooler, German distributor drive, cleaned up vacuum advance distributor, fuel pump and generator stand with oil filler.
