took the first step in stretching my ears today! not by much, just put in some 16g plugs. hopefully i’ll be able to get to 14g in a couple weeks. the 14g plugs nearly fit in one lobe, but i don’t want to push it and get a blowout on the first stretch lol

They had already set up the room for the cardioversion, and Legend was about as fired up as he could possibly be.

"No," Legend insisted, smacking Warriors' offered hand away.

The emergency physician opened his mouth to try and persuade Legend, but the travel nurse immediately cut him off.

"Don't you dare even start, you're a second year resident, I've been in nursing since before you were even a doctor. I've seen your diagnoses--"

"Legend," Warriors warned before his friend went completely off the deep end.

Legend was scared. It was obvious to everyone that he was scared, and the more frightened he became, the sharper his words became.

Sky walked into the room at this point and settled beside Legend. "Ledge... do it for me and Wars. Please."

And it had to be the eyes, because it was always the eyes when Sky would twist Warriors into something, and it was where Wind had learned it in the first place. Sky's sad eyes, so pleading and worried, looked into Legend's, and the travel nurse finally crumpled in the bed, silently extending the arm that had the IV Warriors had started.

The room heaved a collective sigh of relief. Warriors wordlessly placed defibrillator pads on Legend's chest as he held Sky's hand. Then he drew up the adenosine.

Giving Legend a reassuring smile and a wink, Warriors asked, "Ready?"

Legend swallowed. "Yeah. Just push fast and get it over with."

Warriors nodded and grasped the extension at the end of the IV. In went the adenosine with a swift flush afterward, and everyone's eyes immediately went to the cardiac monitor.

SVT, SVT, and... flatline.

And flatline. Warriors eyed Legend, who had paled at the sight.

...And then normal sinus rhythm again.

"Shit," Sky muttered, squeezing Legend's hand.

"Cool stuff, eh?" Warriors remarked before settling a gentle hand on Legend's shoulder. "You doing okay?"

Legend heaved a sigh of relief as they watched his heart continue to beat in a regular rhythm. "Yeah. For the record, I still hate you for the 16G though."

i think 12g is just an awkward size to be bc its a middle step. 14g is standard, 16g is the most popular, and if youre below those then youre probably going even lower than 12. 10g is easier to shop for but i get squicked out about the idea of gauging it myself even though i WANT to wear a 10...
