Uh oh so we’ve got some stakes now. I knew Konoha’s time travelling had to come at a cost. That cost seemingly being the changing of history and some games not being created. I wonder if the catch is gonna be that it’s a time paradox and that those games in the present don’t get made if she doesn’t help make them in the past. The good old Terminator school of time travel.
It’s cool that she’s not alone in this anymore though and now has Mamoru as a partner, kinda like Chifuyu and Takamichi. Mamoru’s dad has unfortunately been blinded by his success at Alcohol soft and isn’t putting nearly the effort into maintaining the company that he should. Typical game execs lol.
Also turns out that cleaning up the trash ended up being the best course of action for Konoha as they found info on Ichigaya. Really excited to see how it turns out
Tons of anime and VN references in this episode as usual.

Konoha, Shy and the Hoshizuku telepath MC are definitely the cutest new MCs this season.
Another really fun episode. Konoha has already become a part of Mamoru and others’ group and is having a big impact. They might be a small company at the bottom of the software development world, but what they lack in reputation, they make up for in heart.
It’s really cool to see how games were made back then. So much hard work having to hand draw, scan and then colour and adjust using a mouse. Puts all those classic visual novels from back in the day into perspective. It’s funny that games nowadays are easier to make but lack the quality and charm of those.
Wow, that’s a cool post credits scene. So Konoha can do a little Tokyo Revengers style hopping between timelines? That’s neat and adds something interesting to the story. Looking forward to seeing where this goes
The shop clerk references the infamous Saori incident which you can read about here. https://www.grimoireofhorror.com/the-yurei/japan-deep-dive-the-saori-incident/ This changed the course of Bishoujo history. I love the little tidbits to real life otaku culture they give us in this show, really feels like a love letter to the whole culture.
So Konoha’s descent into the multiverse of madness continues. We’re now in an alternate timeline where Akiba is no longer the akihabara we know and love because of all the changes Konoha made in the past. No shock there, knew there had to be some type of repercussions. Will be interesting to see exactly what happened! The Mamoru we see in the end of the episode looks so over life. Just tired and worn out. If the game was successful, how could that happen..
We went from such an emotional high of alcohol soft completing the game, Konaha and Meiko bonding, Mamoru with his usual tsundere act but secretly happy on the inside to be praised, etc to that ending! Talk about big shift, can’t wait for next episode. Love how Konoha’s biggest concern is Mamoru getting older 😂
Mamoru and Konoha ship basically sailed, I can rest easy now 🙏🏾 really good finale to one of the most underrated shows of the year.
I felt like the alien subplot was kind of weird, but them happening to be fans and saving Konoha was nice. Also gave her the same type of pep talk they gave Mamoru during his time travel episode.
So nice to see the 90s Alcohol soft team again as well. Everyone’s grown up, but still stayed pretty much the same. Kiyoshi still has his mask on all these years later lol, yoko taro vibes lol. Fitting that they all came together for one last game to help Konoha get back to her time.
Now one thing that did confuse me, during Mamoru and Konoha last conversation, they talk about her going back to 1999 to give the letter to Mamoru and hopefully he’d understand what to do. But they never show us that, instead it’s just Konoha waking up in 2023. Would’ve liked to see 90s Mamoru again, but I guess they were running low on time at that point.
The 2023 Konoha wakes up in isn’t the exact same as the one she left, but otaku culture is thriving in akiba still, alcohol soft are still alive in America and Mamoru is waiting for her to make a game together. Very cute ending, loved that massive hug she gave him.
I would’ve liked to have seen Toya in this timeline to see what became of her as well. I hope the Americans didn’t get a hold of her in this timeline.. other than that, solid finale to a really good show that was chock- full of otaku lore and references. Very fun watch and Konoha is one of the cutest girls of the year, I’ll miss her.
Another Koga Aoi masterclass is here. She’s got two great roles this season and this one might be the better of the two! Great premiere from this one, with only 10k MAL users it’s going to be in the running for hidden gem of the season, no doubt.
The premise reminds me a lot of bokutachi no remake. Going back in time to the golden age of visual novels, bringing all the knowledge from the present to the past to finally be able to fulfil Konoha’s dream of making a VN that excites her.
I always love these shows where characters express how passionate they are about things they enjoy. It’s so cute seeing cute girls geek out about otaku things. The show also provides a cool commentary on just how creatively bankrupt some gaming companies have become, not just in the VN arena but in general. A very relevant story.
At times, it played out like an aniplex ad with the sheer number of titles they referenced. Seeing FGO, MagiReco and ATRI was awesome. Considering most anime censor titles or change them to some corny variation for copyright reasons, it’s cool to see actual real games and names used. Helps with the immersion.
I’m very much looking forward to getting to see more of this and learning about the other characters. Konoha is so damn cute!
Wow what an episode, man. So as people theorised last week, Mamoru did go back to 1985, the year that game we saw at the end of the last episode was made.
This was perfect for him as it’s the year his fave game developing tool, the PC98 came out. Now, the whole echo plot line is a little weird to me. Idk if they’re aliens or gods or what, but it seems like they have the ability to bring people across space and time. Likely the same as the old lady who gave Konoha that game at the beginning of the series. Echo 1 didn’t seem surprised at all to see Mamoru and he knew his name without him saying it.
It begs the question then, what did they want with Mamoru? Maybe just reinvigorating his imagination to help with the game development in the 90s? By teaching Echo about imagination, it reinforces it to Mamoru who in theory will go back to the 90s with a renewed enthusiasm for game development. Idk, definitely an interesting episode and the art during that teleportation sequence was really beautiful. It was cool to see how intensive game design was in the 80s. I mean, having to type out a musical score like that must’ve been tough, the cling wrap method, etc.
Mamoru and Konoha will now be able to relate to each other on a whole different level. Too bad Mamoru couldn’t keep all the stuff he bought :/
