Advice on BF journey.

I really want to ring the ABA hotline to get some advice but apparently my anxiety over phone calls is winning over that.

But… as I’ve had comments on my post as well as some messages from people saying they went through similar I’m just wanting to get an idea of what you’d do.

Lucy’s latch has improved so much. She’ll latch and stay latched without all the fussing of a few weeks ago (she’s 5weeks today).

The last two weekly weighs she’s gained about 180grams. Because she’s now had consistent gain we don’t have another weight check for another month.

We were told to just continue as we were. This is BFing then a 60ml top up of EBM (as well as expressing).

She’s started vomiting though after the top up. This last feed she only had 30mls of the top up before the vomiting started. So we stopped at that.

At night so I can actually get some sleep, I’ve been only expressing, whilst Aaron gives her the top up (it’s been a full feed quota according to weight, as on a half feed top up she still lost weight a few weeks back). She doesn’t vomit at night with only the EBM bottle without the BF prior. In fact the last two nights she hasn’t resettled until she’s had a 90ml EBM bottle. (I know some of this I’ve previously said).

Would you say the BF and then top up leading to vomiting is from over feeding?

If this is the case should we try dropping the day time EBM top up back down? Or should we try just demand feeding rather than the 3 hourly routine we’ve been on for weeks now? Should we just continue as we have been and take the vomiting as coincidence.

I’m scared to change as I don’t want Lucy to start losing weight/have stagnant weight again. I obviously want to see progress though, and don’t want her vomiting from over feeding, if this is what it is. If I stop or reduce now and it has a negative impact on Lucy we won’t know for a month.

We actually own a good set of baby scales (courtesy of Harriet’s weight needing to be monitored closely at times) BUT I’m scared to pull them out as PTSD from Hatt is manifesting in Lucy even though I know their situations are completely different. I’m scared if I use the scales once I will become obsessive.

What would you do?

LADANG LIMA' PRODUCT REVIEW

HOLAAAA back to another review abal-abal seorang home baker otodidak yang sedang mencoba beberapa produk baru untuk baking, salah satunya dari Ladang Lima.

Ladang Lima sebetulnya produk lokal yang udah ada sejak beberapa tahun silam dan populer dipakai sama mereka yang punya alergi gluten, pelaku diet, dan lainnya. Sejak lama gw denger produk ini, tetapi belum tertarik karena gimana rasanya kue gluten free????

Oke, singkatnya gw mulai melirik tepung gluten free ini karena hampir udah sebulanan ngerasa gatel-gatel mulu setelah makan kue, mau kue coklat, butter cake, dan makanan manis lainnya dalam jumlah banyak. Apalagi gw penikmat keras biskuit dicelup susu dingin duhhhh sedep banget, tapi udahnya langsung gatel sana-sini.

Gw belum ngecek diagnosanya apa ke dokter, hanya merasa kalau tepung, coklat, dan terlalu banyak makanan manis ini jadi pemicu rasa gatal. Jadilah gw pun mulai coba ngurangi makanan manis dan cari alternatif tepung pake tepung singkong.

Sebenarnya dari dulu gw penasaran apa bedanya tepung non-gluten sama yang biasa, terlebih untuk pembuatan chiffon. Baheula gw udah pernah bikin pake tepung beras, cuman gw gak suka tekstur keset, cita rasanya jadi rusak, apalagi konsistensi adonan jadi cair banget.

Mumpung si Tokopaedi ada diskonan, gw pun keingetan untuk beli tepung non-gluten Ladang Lima plus snack kukisnya yang viral di X. Here's the review:

TEPUNG SINGKONG LADANG LIMA

Penggunaan tepung non-gluten ini gak begitu menarik buat gw karena dari segi harganya cukup mahal, sekitar 20ribuan hanya dapat 1/2 kg aja, bisa lebih murah lagi kalau belinya lewat e-commerce. DAN pastinya harga jual kue bakal naik kalau pakai tepung ginian, gak dulu deh.

Setelah tepungnya sampai langsung gw eksekusi karena berniat mau ngirim chiffon untuk bude yang lagi alergi tepung-tepungan. Dari aromanya gak ada yang aneh, sih. Tekstur tepung halus banget, ringan, dan sewaktu dicampur adonan kuning plus bahan cair lainnya konsistensi adonan kentel kayak pakai tepung biasa, bahkan gw tambahin air lagi.

Ekspektasi gw runtuh ketika dicampur adonan putel: Langsung ambyar tuh adonan. Biasanya kalau konsistensi adonan kutel udah pas, sewaktu dicampurin putel mestinya stabil dan bagus bgt. Taunya enggak, haha nangis gw. Pelan-pelan gw campurin semua sambil nahan napas saking takutnya adonan makin cair.

Skip to the final result. Gluten free chiffon kali ini so far gw puas karena gak ada tekstur keset, rasa bak plastik seperti yang pernah gw alami dulu. Overall tetep sama kayak tepung biasa, cuman yah dia keenceran aja. 3 buah chiffon yang gw lahap pun kerasanya jauh lebih enteng di perut (bisa jadi sugesti atau emang beneran), namun buat kalori ternyata gak beda jauh sama tepung biasa hehe.

Conclusion:

Harga cukup mahal.

Gak ada aroma, tekstur, rasa aneh setelah diolah.

Bikin cair adonan chiffon, gw benci ini huhu.

Packingnya kurang bagus susah dikuncinya.

Enteng rasanya di perut.

LADANG LIMA BLACKMOND COOKIES

Ada satu affiliator di X yang viralin cookiesnya Ladang Lima. Variannya ternyata cukup banyak, ada yang cookies bulat sampai tipis dengan pilihan rasa coklat, matcha, berry, cheese, dan lainnya. Sama seperti tepung gluten free, gw juga gak begitu tertarik untuk beli kukis non-gluten gini karena lagi-lagi harganya bikin nangis dompet gw.

Ukuran terbesar sekitar 180gram mulai harga 30ribuan dan yang kecilnya 20ribuan untuk 80gram. Kukis pilihan gw jatuh pada varian Blackmond yang full pakai tepung singkong, gula kelapa, margarin, coklat asli, dan bebas susu.

Desain packagingnya doff gemas, dilengkapi klip penutup biar kukis gak melempem, dan kemasannya gembung besar sebelum dibuka. Kukis mini bites sekali hap dengan aroma dan warna coklatnya pekat, nandain Ladang Lima memang pakai produk coklat berkualitas. Baru satu kukis saja gw sudah jatuh hati, ENAK BANGET TUHAN TOLONGGGG INI SURGA.

Rasa coklatnya beneran coklat premium gitu, cenderung lebih pait dan manis dari gula kelapanya balance which is ini rasa coklat kesukaan gw. Di dalem kukisnya ada cacahan almond bikin tekstur kukisnya krauk-krauk "ramai" dan ada cita rasa gurih.

Minusnya, kukis yang gw makan kemarin itu ada bau tengik dari tepungnya mungkin yang sempet bikin gw degdegan sewaktu mau ngolah tepung singkongnya.

Conclusion:

Harga pricey buat gw hiks.

Rasa enak polllll ini bakal jadi sweet treat gw.

Coklatnya beneran asli, pahit gitu suka ih!

Manisnya tetep ada, namun balance sama rasa pahitnya.

Vegan Cardamom Cake

Ingredients:

310 grams bread flour

3 tsp baking powder

2 tbsp ground cardamom - course (use seeds)

handful of whole wheat flour (to dust the pan)

Vegan egg replacement for 3 eggs

3/4 cup maple syrup

3/4 cup cashew milk (unsweetened)

1 cup melted vegan butter (175-180grams when not melted)

1/3 cup olive oil

Method:

Preheat oven to 350F

Grease a 9-inch pan with butter and sprinkle whole wheat flour, discard the excess

In a bowl sift flour and baking powder

Add cardamom and stir well

In a different bowl prepare egg replacement

Add maple syrup, olive oil and cashew milk

Melt the butter and add to the wet mixture, stir well

Combine dry mixture into wet and mix well

Move the batter to the prepared cake pan

Bake for 45 minutes

Last week, I picked up this Deluxe Edition copy of The Cranberries, No Need to Argue album from Now and Then Oshawa.

Originally released in 1994, the album finally got repressed in 2015 on 180 gram vinyl. And subsequently was released in 10 different colour variants from 2016 to 2018.

To my surprise Island records released this deluxe edition of the album in black as well as clear vinyl in late 2020. This edition includes a live version of Yesterday's Gone from the band's MTV Unplugged appearance as well as all the additional b-side tracks from the No Need To Argue era.

So despite having 3 copies of this album on vinyl already (OG 94, 180gram 2015, cranberry red 2016) I simply had to have this in my collection
