some facts about palestine
done w the help of @kourtgreene
the death toll has surpassed 10000 now, a majority of which are women and children
there are also 25000 people injured and estimated thousands are missing
1.5 million are currently displaced in gaza
at least 47 mosques and 3 churches have been destroyed, including the third oldest church in the world
11 bakeries have also been destroyed
47 families (with a total of 500 people in them) have been wiped from the civil registry in gaza
more children have died in gaza since october seventh than from conflicts around the world in each of the last four years
the usa provides $3.8 billion for israel every year
71% of the gazan population screens positive for depression
20000 people are in need of specialised mental health services
there have been 105 attacks on hospitals in gaza since october seventh
in the west bank, WHERE HAMAS HAS NO CONTROL, there are 128 fatalities and ~2270 injuries
there are at least 28 journalists who have been murdered in gaza by israeli attacks
at least 97 schools have been damaged (war crime)
among healthcare staff there have been at least 60 deaths and 111 injuries
107 healthcare facilities have been targeted (which is a war crime) including 19 hospitals, 49 clinics, and 39 ambulances
46% of hospitals arent working
because of electricity being cut off from hospitals, there are thousands of people in need
this includes 130 babies in incubators, 50000 pregnant women, 1000 kidney dialysis patients, and 35000 non-contagious disease patients (e.g. heart failure, diabetes)
there are 183 births per day and the mothers struggle to find a proper place to give birth with proper medical aid
18000 tons of bombs have been dropped on gaza, which is 1.5x the explosive force of the atomic bomb on hiroshima
the number of palestinian prisoners / hostages israel has kidnapped in the west bank have doubled since october 7th (again, hamas is not in the west bank)
thousands of workers from gaza were released from the jails and have reported being beaten, tortured, stripped, bruised, pissed on, denied basic sanitation, denied food, denied water, and have been tagged as numbers
meanwhile, israeli people who have been taken hostage by hamas have reported that they are treated surprisingly well, even eating the same food as the hamas soldiers and having their toilets cleaned regularly
families in the west bank are reporting that their men are vanishing, leading to the idea that israelis are kidnapping them
subhi has an excellent video detailing more about the above point, also you should follow him on instagram he breaks things down incredibly well
israels iron dome has malfunctioned and one of their rockets has hit a hospital in tel aviv
it is important to remember the above point lest they (very likely) come out and somehow blame hamas/hezbollah/iran
theyre dropping lots of white phosphorus
chemical warfare has been a crime since the end of the first world war
theyve bombed the south dozens of times now despite claiming that theyll only target the north (anyone still saying that the south is safe is either clueless or a liar)
theyve hit the rafah border and it’s passage, killing dozens
a ceasefire is for the people of gaza to breathe. a ceasefire is NOT the end of OUR fight for palestine
these numbers increase every single day
this specific attack has been going on for a month
the isolation of gaza is 15 years old
israeli hands have been covered in palestinian blood for 75 years
most governments are failing to do anything that actually stops the massacre
the palestinians in gaza need our help.

Hospital Acquired Infection Control Market Share, Size, Trends - [2021-2026]
Currently, with the surge in COVID-19 cases, there is an increasing focus on personal hygiene along with the increasing production of medical nonwovens and single-use products such as face masks and gloves. This is further expected to drive the growth of the market in the coming years. On the other hand, concerns regarding the safety of reprocessed instruments are expected to limit market growth to some extent in the coming years.
The growth of the hospital acquired infection control market can largely be attributed to factors such as the high incidence of hospital-acquired infections, the increasing number of surgical procedures, the growing geriatric population and the increasing incidence of chronic diseases, technological advancements in sterilization equipment, and the growing awareness of environmental & personal hygiene due to COVID-19.
According to the new market research report, "Hospital Acquired Infection Control Market by Product & Service [Sterilization (Equipment, Services), Disinfectants (Hand, Skin, Surface, Wipes, Sprays)], End User (Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Diagnostic Centers), COVID-19 Impact - Global Forecast to 2026", published by MarketsandMarkets™, the Hospital Acquired Infection Control Market is projected to reach USD 31.3 billion by 2026 from USD 29.1 billion in 2021, at a CAGR of 1.5% during the forecast period.
Browse in-depth TOC on "Hospital Acquired Infection Control" 183 – Tables 48 – Figures 304 – Pages
Download PDF Brochure: https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=204343466
The sterilization segment is expected to grow at the highest CAGR during the forecast period. This is attributed to the growing incidence of chronic diseases and pandemics (such as COVID-19), the increasing need to reduce surgical-site infections (SSIs), and the growing number of surgeries performed worldwide. Increasing initiatives and regulatory actions taken by governments in various countries to fortify hospitals with essential infection control standards to prevent the spread of HAIs are also expected to support market growth.
The hospitals & ICUs segment is expected to account for the largest share of the hospital acquired infection control market
Based on end user, the market has been segmented into hospitals & intensive care units (ICUs), ambulatory surgical and diagnostic centers, nursing homes and maternity centers, and other end users (dental clinics, trauma centers, and clinical laboratories).
Asia Pacific is expected to account for the highest CAGR for players operating in the hospital acquired infection control market
The Asia Pacific hospital infection control market is expected to grow at the highest CAGR from 2021 to 2026. Most of the growth in the market is expected from the emerging countries across the Asia Pacific. The rising number of surgical procedures conducted annually, favorable government regulations, the large patient population, and the rising incidence of COVID-19 are expected to drive the growth of the APAC market during the forecast period.
Request Sample Pages: https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/requestsampleNew.asp?id=204343466
Various measures are being taken by companies as well as government bodies to drive market growth. For instance, the FDA has recommended that Sterigenics should reopen its ethylene oxide-based sterilization plant in the US. The plant had been shut due to harmful emissions, which were believed to be carcinogenic. In March 2020, the company received permission to reopen the plant for 21 days to sterilize PPE for healthcare workers to use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such developments are anticipated to drive the growth of this market.

Many N.S. ERs, hospitals reach or surpass inpatient capacity
Nikki D’Eon says her 68-year-old mother has a strong will, but even it was tested after being taken to the QEII emergency department in Halifax by ambulance last Saturday.
“She was seen rather quickly, however, there were no beds,” says D’Eon.
As a result, Beverly Burke, who is battling a form of cancer, spent five days in a small room, equipped with a bed but no bathroom next to the nurses’ station in emergency, where D’Eon says visiting family members saw hallways lined with stretchers and people sleeping in waiting room chairs.
“The nurses were very attentive to everything that she needed, however, someone with multiple myeloma, in so much pain, that these heavy pain medications aren’t helping.... this person needs a bed,” says D’Eon. “It’s frustrating when someone you love is in pain.”
D'Eon says after those five days, her mother was finally seen by the cancer clinic, given more medication and a plan for more chemotherapy, and went home.
The lack of beds to admit patients is just one of the problems facing the health-care system, according to the president of the NSGEU, which represents 18,000 Nova Scotia health-care workers, including nurses at the Halifax Infirmary (HI).
“Numbers at the HI are over the top, staff are beyond stressed,” says Sandra Mullen. “New workers are coming in, they are seeing conditions that are beyond terrible. Our staff, who have been through so much in the past number of months and years, are so stressed… and they are working beside travel nurses who are paid twice as much as they are, which is very difficult to deal with.”
“It’s an incredible situation right now,” Mullen adds.
She says the pressures faced by staff after the reason the union put out a notice to its members in support of mask wearing at indoor places.
“To see the rates of admission and the number of cases so high, it's absolutely a ‘must-do’ right now,” she says.
The Minister in charge of the Department of Health and Wellness, Michelle Thompson, declined CTV’s request for an interview about how emergency departments are faring throughout the province.
But in a statement, spokesperson Khalehla Perrault writes, “We are aware of the pressure our healthcare system is experiencing inside and out, and the impact it has on patients and healthcare workers. This is a particularly difficult time with a number of factors contributing to increased occupancy at our hospitals such as labour shortages, bed availability, and increased cases of respiratory illnesses.”
“…We want to assure all Nova Scotians that the Department of Health and Wellness in collaboration with the IWK and Nova Scotia Health is actively working on ways to address staffing shortages and relieve pressures on emergency departments.”
Meanwhile, provincial reporting online shows hospitals with the highest daily number of ER visits as on Thursday include: the QEII with 203 visits, the Cobequid Community Health Centre with 147, the IWK with 145 visits, and the Cape Breton Regional hospital with 127 visits.
When it comes to acute care bed capacity, the same online report shows seventeen hospitals of 36 were at or above 100 percent as of Thursday, with Fisherman's Memorial in Lunenburg ranking highest at 183 percent.
“The numbers are really quite unprecedented in the last several weeks,” says the president of Doctors Nova Scotia.
Dr. Leisha Hawker says the current early peak in respiratory viruses among both children and adults is putting a strain on the system.
She’s urging residents to get up to date on flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to help relieve the situation, and she says Nova Scotians should think about how they plan to spend the holiday season.
“Everyone's been really keen to get back out there, but I think we're at the point now where the health-care system's really struggling and we need to really strategically choose our social activities at this point,” says Hawker.

3 Cebu hospitals complete first dose of vaccine rollout
#PHnews: 3 Cebu hospitals complete first dose of vaccine rollout
CEBU CITY – Three hospitals in Cebu have completed the vaccination of the first dose of CoronaVac jabs for healthcare workers (HCWs), nine days since the rollout started on Mach 4, the Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7) said Friday.
In a briefing at the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC) on Friday, DOH-7 chief pathologist Dr. Mary Jean Loreche commended Mandaue City Hospital, Amosup Seamen’s Hospital, both in Mandaue City; and the Cebu Velez General Hospital here for completing their first doses.
Amosup and Velez are private hospitals.
DOH-7 records showed Amosup hospital received 238 doses for 118 HCWs and the rest are for patients.
Mandue City Hospital was allotted 150 doses of Sinovac vaccines for 75 of their medical front-liners.
The 183 medical workers of Velez hospital have also completed their first shots of the China-made vaccines.
The remaining doses will be administered 28 days after the first jabs.
Loreche said the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center has yet to complete the first doses for its front-liners. The DOH-run regional hospital received 7,200 doses of CoronaVac and has inoculated 3,149 so far, with 451 more scheduled to get their initial jabs.
Inoculated front-liners
Loreche reported that a total of 10,193 HCWs and medical front-liners in 21 different hospitals, entities and local government units have received their first doses in Central Visayas.
The numbers represent 36.2 percent of the total of 55,262 HCWs and medical front-liners in the region. Of the total, 29,069 are employed in private and public hospitals while the rest are front-liners in temporary treatment and monitoring facilities and isolation centers.
The region received 28,162 doses of CoronaVac and 30,000 doses of AstraZeneca, DOH data showed.
She said DOH-7 has yet to distribute the AstraZeneca vaccines, as some of the recipient hospitals still need to comply with requirements such as the cold chain storage facility with a temperature of minus 2 to 8 degrees Celsius and temperature monitoring apparatus.
Institutions must also register with the DOH’s Covid-19 Bakuna Center Registry before they are allowed to conduct vaccination, explaining that such registry is needed in order to monitor the inoculation activities.
Minimal adverse effects
DOH-7 also registered 155 adverse event reactions from vaccinees of CoronaVac, or 1.5 percent of 10,193 individuals who got inoculated.
“Again, 99.9 percent of the adverse event reactions are mild. Most of the complaints are pain in the injection areas,” Loreche said.
There were 161 HCWs and front-liners whose vaccination was deferred upon discovery of “issues” during pre-screening while some just received flu shots and injectable contraceptives and can be inoculated in two to four weeks.
Promoting AstraZeneca vax
DOH-7, Loreche said, will continue to distribute and promote the AstraZeneca vaccines.
“All vaccines that have Emergency Use Authorization are considered safe and effective. Until such time that scientific and medical evidence of a direct causal effect for the deaths of the vaccinees is established, we believe on the safety of the vaccine,” Loreche told the Philippine News Agency.
On reports that there were European Union countries that deferred inoculation of AstraZeneca vaccines due to blood clot issues, Loreche said DOH would rather highlight the benefits over the risks. She said they will continue monitoring global developments.
Meantime, she encouraged healthcare workers to make sure there is close monitoring for adverse effects that may be encountered up to 72 hours post-vaccination. (PNA)

HANDOUT (A)
CM DIRECTS TO FULLY CELEBRATE KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY
LAHORE, February 03:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed that Kashmir Solidarity Day be celebrated with full zeal, fervour and devotion.
In a statement, he appealed to the citizens to actively participate in congregations and rallies to be held on this day while following corona SOPs. A host of functions will be held in the province to commemorate the Kashmir Solidarity Day to give a strong message to the Hindu supremacist Modi regime and the global community that Kashmir belongs to Pakistan, he added.
The CM said the whole nation will express its complete solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren on February 5 that oppressed Kashmiris are not alone in their struggle for freedom. A strong voice will be raised against Indian oppression and brutalities as 220 million people firmly stand with Kashmiris, he said. Pakistan and Kashmiris are Siamese twins, he stressed. The wickedness and brutality of the Modi regime has been fully exposed before the world and India cannot retain its illegal occupation over occupied Jammu & Kashmir any longer. Modi believes in Hitler’s philosophy of racial supremacy and this would, eventually, balkanise India, concluded the CM.

According to a new market research report published by Global Market Estimates, the Global Proteinase K Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.05% during the forecast period (2020-2026).
Healthcare evolution and government expenditure in R & D techniques are giving a positive trajectory to the growth of the proteinase k market. Extended support from local and multinational players in the adoption and discovery of a new variety of products offering is creating significant demand for proteinase k on a positive note. Low cost of production, specificity, and excellent stability has uplifted the proteinase k popularity in the last few years.
The efficient detection of COVID-19 with the help of proteinase K pre-treatment activity has boosted the demand for the product in many severely affected regions. Brazil recently comes up with a discovery of COVID-19 testing without the involvement of the RNA extraction step as it requires skilled workers with sufficient funding. The new protocol involves proteinase K during sample pre-treatment thus discarding all the time and cost-consuming protocols.

French Healthcare Workers Mobilization Achieves Historical Wage Increases - Nearly $300 Per Month for Non-Medical Staff
Tumblr media
After major demonstrations across France, non-medical health care workers will receive a monthly raise of nearly 300 dollars. A medical secretary will receive 183 Euros approximately $284 Canadian dollars. Photo: Nicolas / Pexels The French government signed an historic agreement on Monday in Paris, which will give non-medical health care workers a pay raise of just under $300 per month. Healthcare workers who received nightly applause by the French public from balconies and windows throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, under the new agreement will see an infusion of more than 8 billion euros (over 12 billion CDN) into the healthcare system. " This effort is first of all a recognition towards those who, applauded every evening by our fellow citizens, have been on the front line in the fight against this unprecedented epidemic. Coronavirus: Cloth, scissors, sewing machine - Govt’s DIY guide on making masks at home - india news
The Ministry of Health and Family Affairs on Saturday issued an advisory on homemade protective covers and face mask.
In an easy guide, the ministry’s manual explained who all can use the homemade protective masks and ways to easily make them at home in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
In the advisory, the government said that the use of masks will help in protecting the community at large from coronavirus.
“Certain countries have claimed benefits of homemade face cover for the general public. Such homemade face cover is a good method for maintaining personal hygiene. Such usage certainly will help in maintaining overall hygienic health conditions,” the advisory read.
As per the manual, those who aren’t suffering from any medical condition or don’t have any breathing difficulty may use homemade face covers and masks, especially while stepping out.

These masks and face covers are not recommended for Covid-19 patients or those involved in their care including healthcare workers and medical professionals.
The government recommends making two sets of these covers and masks so that while one is in use, the other can be washed.
“These face covers could be made out of clean cloth available at home, which needs to be thoroughly cleaned and washed before a face cover is stitched/made. The face cover should be prepared in such a manner that it can cover the mouth and nose completely and can be tied over the face easily,” the advisory read.
The manual also lays down steps to make these face covers and masks at home using just clean strips of cloth and a sewing machine.
Another annexure shows how a handkerchief and a couple of elastic bands can be used to make a temporary face cover.
On Saturday, the health ministry updated the number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 2,902 including 2,650 active cases, 183 patients who have recovered and 68 fatalities. The country entered the eleventh of the 3-week coronavirus lockdown on Saturday.
