Indy Racing League FLAT OUT Infiniti
IRL is a new series that started in 1997 after splitting from the CART series, but it has now become America's most popular formula car race. The IRL series is held 13 times a year (2001) on oval courses in North America. The IRL is represented by the world's largest motor sports event, the Indy 500 Mile, which is held as the fourth race in the series.400,000 people attend this race, which has a total prize money of 1 billion yen and a winner's prize of 200 million yen. A large audience gathers.
Currently, the machines used in the IRL combine a 3.5-liter V8 DOHC non-turbo engine with an open-wheel, open-cockpit, single-seat type car body similar to F1 and CART. The engine is equipped with a rev limiter, which limits the maximum rotation speed to 10,700 revolutions per minute, and the maximum output is approximately 650 horsepower. Currently, the car bodies are produced and marketed by Italy's Dallara, Britain's G-Force, and America's Riley & Scott, and engines are supplied by Nissan and Oldsmobile, named Infiniti and Aurora, respectively.
Through IRL high-speed oval track racing, the ultimate performance testing ground, Nissan In order to prove its technological capabilities and reliability as a high-performance car manufacturer, the company has been competing in the IRL since 1997. In 1998, it took the lead against an overwhelming majority of cars equipped with Aurora engines, and finally achieved its first victory in the IRL in June of last year.
Riding on this momentum, Nissan introduced a newly developed engine to the front this year and began dominating the series. The new engine is the ``35A'' type, which is the same type as the Q45 (Cima)'s power plant and is a detuned version of the VRH50 that was entered in the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hour Race. It is the latest weapon that is lightweight and compact, with a lower center of gravity and improved fuel efficiency than last year's model. This engine was supplied to two teams, Cheever Indy Racing and Dreyer & Rhine Bold Racing, and competed in the 2001 season with Eddie Cheever and Robbie Buhl driving.
The new engine spent the first half of the season undergoing initial maturation, and in the fifth race of the series, Cheever recorded the fastest lap time, quickly proving its high potential and becoming a regular contender for the top positions. Then came the eighth round, a race contested over 200 laps around the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway. This was the first victory for the new engine. Cheever, the winner, said: ``Today I had a powerful weapon in my hands, the most powerful weapon in the form of an Infiniti. This engine is available to everyone, because it is installed in the Infiniti production cars that everyone drives.'' It was developed based on the engine ``Kara''.
After this first victory, he was unable to achieve any results, retiring in the 9th race due to an accident, and in the 10th race he was in the lead until just before the finish, but fell back due to a mistake in refueling, but in the 11th race, Buhl finished 5th. With Cheever finishing 3rd in the 12th race, Infiniti is closing out the season with a bang. Infiniti's goals for next season are, of course, winning the Indy 500 mile race and winning the series championship.

Callum is easygoing and happy, with a ready grin. He’s one of the friendliest people in the paddock with fans and other drivers alike. He’s got the typical dry British sense of humor and can be self-depreciating, except when it comes to his racing. In that area, he is analytical, confident in his own abilities and ready to offer constructive criticism to his team every time he gets out of the car. He built his team up from scratch in 2022, often finishing races higher than his car was capable of and with the addition of a second car and driver, is continuing to lead the way. Rumors abound that he is headed for a bigger and better team in the near future. While his current contract is for several years, only 2023 is guaranteed and there are likely several different options available to him and the team concerning where he will drive.

FERRARI 250 LM - MODEL PRESENTATION
Unveiled at the Paris Salon in October 1963, the 250 LM is a berlinette version of the 250 P which, presented in the previous March, can already boast of many successes in the race, before a victory at Le Mans in 1964. Designed under the authority of Chief Engineer Carlo Chiti, it is the first competition Ferrari with a V12 engine in a central position. The 246 SP inaugurated this new architecture in 1961, but with a V6 engine.
For the 250 LM, Scaglietti has signed a masterful shape, whose tapered front draws an amazing contrast with the long and muscular back that reveals the presence of powerful mechanics. The small central arch brings lightness to the pavilion, and one of the most spectacular elements is the vast hood that rises like a cathedral to reveal the bowels of this radical machine.
With the 250 LM, Enzo Ferrari wants to take over from the 250 GTO and have it homologated in GT. But if FIA officials have turned a blind eye to the Commendatore's tendentious arguments that allowed the homologation of the 250 GTO (which he had announced as a simple evolution of the 250 GT), this time they do not let themselves go and demand the production of the 100 copies required. However, Ferrari will only produce 32, so that the 250 LM will remain in the "Prototypes" category and will have to compete against more powerful cars, the most emblematic of which will be the Ford GT40 mentioned above. Glorious protagonist of the Ford-Ferrari duel, the 250 LM beautifully defended the colors of the Italian manufacturer by compensating for its power deficit with qualities of handling and maneuverability that were lacking in other more powerful cars. Carlo Chiti had seen it right by managing to convince Enzo Ferrari to switch to the rear engine, when he was reluctant.
Moreover, the 250 LM should have been called 275 LM (according to the Ferrari nomenclature using the unit displacement) because after the copy of the Paris Motor Show, the following ones received a 3.3 Liter engine; hoping to deceive the vigilance of the FIA for the reasons mentioned above, Enzo Ferrari wanted to keep the name 250.
Given its design, the 250 LM was intended for the track much more than for the road, and most of the copies produced have experienced the throes of competition and its hazards. However, this is not the case with the car we present, whose career took place in the hands of individuals and collectors who have never engaged it in the race. It was certainly present in 1966 at the 24 Hours of Daytona, but as a simple reserve car. This is why it is now beautifully preserved of origin, as we will see later.
THE FERRARI 250 LM OF THE SALE, #5901
The complete history of this work of art is established and documented by brand specialist Marcel Massini. According to the manufacturing sheet of this 250 LM, its tubular chassis was supplied to the Scaglietti bodywork in Modena on June 24, 1964. On September 18, the assembly of the engine, carried out by mechanic Baschieri, was completed under the control of foreman Amos Franchini. It was the same Amos Franchini who supervised the assembly of the gearbox, completed on September 23 by Ivo Giusti. The official order of Luigi Chinetti, boss of the N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team) and importer of the brand based in New York, dated the following November 6, followed on the 14th by the manufacturer's invoice. On November 20, the car was transported to the port of Livorno and embarked on board the cargo ship Maria Costa, which then left for New York. After his arrival, the car was sold by Chinetti to its first owner, Raymond John Augusterfer, residing in Philadelphia.
On February 5 and 6, 1966, this Ferrari 250 LM was used as a reserve car for the 24 Hours of Daytona by the N.A.R.T., but no damage having stopped the engaged cars, it will not take part in the race and will remain in the paddock. The following year, Luigi Chinetti took over the car and sold it in 1968 to George Arents, from Warren, then in 1969 to Walter and Irene Young, from Wilton. After a visit to Kirk F. White Motorcars (Philadelphia), the car was bought on June 29, 1970 by William B. Rearden (Villanova, Pennsylvania), for the sum of $16,500 with, in soulte, his Ferrari 330 P Spider. Rearden kept her for eight years, while she appeared in issue 37 of Prancing Horse, the Ferrari Club of America bulletin, next to the 330 LMB and the Dino 246 GTS in her collection. Its owner also had the opportunity to use it on June 1, 1974 at the Ferrari club's annual meeting on the Lime Rock circuit, then at the Ferrari Parade organized as the opening of the Watkins Glen F1 race on October 5, 1975.

Happy Birthday to Alan McNish born in Dumfries December 29th 1969.
With a highly-successful career spanning karting to Formula One, including three victories at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans and winning the FIA WEC World Championship, Allan is one of the most respected and liked personalities in the dynamic and competitive world of motorsport.
Having started in karting and sealed six Scottish and three British titles, the young McNish progressed, under the watchful eyes of David Leslie Snr & Jnr, into single-seaters at Knockhill.
He won the 1988 Formula Vauxhall Lotus Championship and finished second in the 1989 British F3 Championship by three points.
McNish also gained F1 experience, with testing contracts for McLaren and Benetton, Toyota – including a full F1 World Championship race season in 2002 – and Renault.
But it was in sportscars where he proved to be a world-beater. Having first won at the world’s greatest endurance race with Porsche in 1998, McNish — with his tartan band round his race helmet — made his Le Mans debut with Audi in 2000.
Audi team orders had ensured it was the Audi driven by a German, Frank Biela, which won, despite McNish’s car being clearly faster over the closing stages.
It was another eight years before he stood on the top step at Le Mans with Audi, but three years later, in 2011, the Scot somehow miraculously walked away from one of the most explosive crashes ever seen at the La Sarthe circuit, as seen in the second photo.
Twelve months later, McNish was again left devastated when he and his Audi were nudged at high speed into the barrier in the closing stages when he was leading. McNish’s career has also racked up three American Le Mans Series titles, plus four wins in both the Sebring 12 Hours and Petit Le Mans races. He also finished second in the Daytona 24 Hours on three occasion. McNish, though, will always be associated with Le Mans.
Although he lives in Monaco and enjoys the almost permanently good weather to be found on the Cote d’Azur, Allan McNish is a proud Scotsman. He regularly wears the family tartan kilt to official engagements.

McLaren reveals special Triple Crown-inspired livery for Monaco Grand Prix | 2023 Monaco Grand Prix
McLaren has unveiled the special livery it will run at the Monaco Grand Prix. The design inspired by motorsport’s ‘Triple Crown’ of races, all of which McLaren has previously won. Monaco and the Indianapolis 500 are two of the three events counting towards it, and both take place this weekend. The third element of the Triple Crown is next month’s Le Mans 24 Hours race for sports cars. McLaren, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary as a company, won the Indy 500 in 1974 and 1976 with Johnny Rutherford. Their first Monaco Grand Prix win did not come until in 1984 when Alain Prost started a run of nine wins in 10 years there for the team. Ayrton Senna went unbeaten on the streets of Monaco from 1989 to 1993, then Mika Hakkinen put McLaren on top again in 1998, his team mate David Coulthard won Monaco in 2000 and 2002. Victories for Kimi Raikkonen (2005), Fernando Alonso (2007) and Lewis Hamilton (2008) brought McLaren’s Monaco win count up to 15 – the most of any team. The highlight of McLaren’s brief Le Mans history was in 1995 when teams running its BMW-powered F1 GTR car finished first, third, fourth and fifth. The first of each of those wins have been incorporated into McLaren’s 2023 Monaco livery, with the rear of the car adorned in a Papaya orange harking back to Rutherford’s Indy 500-winning livery. The middle of the MCL60 is white, evoking the iconic liveries McLaren used through the eighties. The race-winning Le Mans livery was all-black, so the top of the MCL60’s nose will switch from orange to black as the front wing and the sides of the front-end of the chassis are already painted dark. McLaren’s four-car Indy 500 entry this weekend is also celebrating the brand’s history and Triple Crown success, with each of the cars using a different livery referencing those past wins. The F1 team will also run its special livery at next week’s Spanish Grand Prix. Olivier Gendebien
On 2nd October 1998, Olivier Gendebien died at Les Baux de Provence in France. Born in Brussels on 12th January 1924, the Belgian was one of the most talented drivers of his time.
Olivier Gendebien was a paratrooper during the war and got his racing start in rallying. Ferrari signed him in 1956, and he became a star in sportscars. In his 7-year career, he won nearly every major endurance event, including the 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also took part in the occasional Grand Prix, usually as a replacement driver. His final start came at the 1961 Belgian GP. Ferrari prepped a fourth 156 Sharknose for the home favorite. Unlike his teammates, Gendebien’s car was finished in bright yellow – the national racing color of Belgium. Gendebien starred, leading the opening laps. Eventually, he was passed by his 3 teammates and finished a respectable fourth. He was renown for his silky smooth driving style. He never crashed and knew how to nurse a car to the finish. While it was what led him to sportscar immortality, it did not translate as well to sprint-style F1. Gendebien retired at age 38 after Le Mans in 1962, under pressure from his wife to give up the sport that killed so many of their colleagues.
A yellow Ferrari was not a totally uncommon sight in Formula 1’s early years. Ferrari prepared yellow cars for Belgian drivers in their home race. The 1961 race was the instance, and the last time a factory-entered Ferrari wore anything but red. Sadly, all of the painfully gorgeous 156s were scrapped in the mid-1960’s. About 2 decades ago, Jan Biekens began a 12-year project to build an exact replica of the 156 using as many original parts as possible. It was finished in the exact specifications as Gendebien’s Belgian car, and is a regular at vintage events around Europe. His talents were recognised by Enzo Ferrari in the book “Piloti, che gente,” even if the Founder did not hold back from having a pop at the Belgian’s ego: “Olivier Gendebien was able to transform the nobility of his background which could be felt in his life into elegant and shrewd impetuousness when in a car. On track, he raced and won, also in Formula 1, but his talent really came out in Sports cars in endurance races. His consistent pace allied to a fast racer, for example Phil Hill, proved for many years to be the key to success. Gendebien drove cleanly, doing a good job of looking after the car entrusted to him and he could be counted on to lap consistently and to drive with consistency, character and intelligence. However, you needed to be patient and let him speak when he won, which he would do at length. And patience was also needed when I read his memoirs, in which he was stingy in his acknowledgements unless they referred to himself.”

Which Was the Single Best Year for the 911?
Tumblr media
The Porsche 911 is one of the most iconic cars in history. It’s been around for 50 years and it’s still going strong!
With its classic, timeless design and performance that’s unmatched by any other car on the market, it has been at the pinnacle of automotive engineering for over 50 years.
No matter what Porsche model you choose, the 911 is always in production and there are several models to consider. The newest member of the family is a four-wheel-drive GT with more power than any Cayenne has ever had!
The best year? We’re not sure yet – they all have their own charm but we think 1984 was probably the most iconic moment when it came out in its original form. But this car will keep on making memories for generations to come. It’s been around long enough that some people who got one new as kids can now afford them themselves!
How many generations of Porsche 911 are there?
The Early Years (1963-1973)
The year 1963 marked the introduction of one of the most iconic sports cars ever built: the Porsche 911. Even though it was not a huge success at first, it quickly became an icon because of its looks and performance.
The early years saw three different engines: Flat Six (930), flat fours (909), and sixes (911). One thing that remained constant throughout these few years is its ability to be put through many tests – from racing on circuits all around Europe to being driven by members of secret services.
It also had significant endurance in motorsports competitions with over 20 victories in 24 Hours races including Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans, and Targa Florio. In 1972 production started for what would become the Porsche 911’s most iconic look, the 1973 “classic” model. This version featured a more squared-off rear and kept its classic Fuchs wheels with steel rims.
The years 1963 to 1973 saw many changes in design for Porsche’s first-ever production car – but one thing did not change: it became an international icon and is still loved by people all over the world today!
The G-Series (1973-1989)
This model has been called “the most important sports car ever made” because it’s credited with making rear engine high-performance cars viable for everyday driving. It also helped to make Porsches into some of the most desirable luxury vehicles on earth. In addition, this model is considered one of the world’s most iconic supercars alongside Ferrari’s 250 GTO and Lamborghini’s Miura SV from 1966 to 1973 respectively.
If you’re looking for an incredible driving experience that will never get old, then this is your perfect choice! This vehicle comes with everything you need to enjoy life on the open road – from power to performance to style.
You’ll be able to take on any terrain without hesitation or fear of getting stuck in mud or snow thanks to its four-wheel-drive system. And if you want something more than just a great ride? Well, this baby also comes with a six-speed manual transmission so that you can really feel what it means to have total control over your vehicle!
The 964 (1989-1994)
The 964 was introduced in 1989 and featured a more aerodynamic design than previous models, as well as an updated suspension system. It also had improved handling due to wider tires on 16-inch wheels.
You’ll never regret buying this beauty! It has everything you could want from an automobile – style, power, comfort, and speed. It’s not just any old vehicle; it’s a piece of automotive history that will last forever.
The 993 (1994-1998)
The 993 was the last of the air-cooled 911s and it has many features that make it stand out from other cars.
It has a 3.6 liter engine with twin turbos, which gives it more power than any previous model in its class while still maintaining fuel efficiency; all-wheel drive; and a six-speed manual transmission with overdrive on third gear to help keep your gas mileage high.
If you’re looking for a fun car that will turn heads wherever you go, then this is your perfect match! You’ll feel like royalty driving around town in this beauty! With its sleek design and powerful engine, it’s no wonder why so many people love these cars!
This car will not only provide you with years of enjoyment but also give you bragging rights among your friends who are driving around in their old clunkers!
The 996 (1998-2001)
The 996 generation of the Porsche 911 was built from 1998 to 2001 and replaced the 993 series. It featured a 3.4-liter flat-six engine, which produced 350 PS (345 hp/257 kW). This model also had an all-new interior design, with more ergonomic seats and a dashboard.
A car that can be driven on the track or as a daily driver. A car with an engine that makes you feel like you’re in control of something powerful and fast. It’s a car that is designed to make your heart race, but also one that will keep up with your busy life.
The 996.2 (2001-2004)
The 996-2 version was released in 2001 with minor changes to exterior trim levels, interior design, engine management systems, and wheels/tires sizes among other things; these changes were done primarily to make production costs lower due to declining sales numbers since its release two years prior.
The 996.2 (2001-2004) model was the last of the air-cooled, rear-engine Porsches and featured an all-new 3.6 litre flat six engine with twin turbos that produced 350bhp in standard form or 400bhp in Turbo S guise.
It also had a revised suspension system, wider track widths and bigger wheels to cope with its increased power output and improved handling characteristics over previous models.
The 997 (2004-2008)
This 2004-2008 model features a 3.6L flat-six engine with 300 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. torque, as well as an all-wheel drive system to help you tackle any terrain with ease. It also has a six-speed manual transmission or optional Tiptronic S automatic transmission for those who prefer not to shift gears themselves. You can even get this vehicle with factory options like heated seats and navigation!
The 997 (2004-2008) model year is one of the most sought-after models, with only 2,500 ever made. If you’re looking for an incredible driving experience and want to be part of automotive history then this is your chance!
The 997.2 (2008-2011)
This car has been a favorite for generations and it’s still going strong today. It’s designed to be driven, so you can enjoy every mile with this high-performance machine.
This is a 2008 to 2011 model of the Porsche 911, also known as the 997.2. It’s one of our most popular models and has been featured in many movies and TV shows over the years. You can find this car in silver, black, or white with a variety of interior options available for you to choose from.
The 991 (2011-2015)
The Porsche 911 is an iconic sports car, and the 991 version of this vehicle was released in 2011.This model features a 3.8-liter engine with 350 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4 seconds flat! It also comes with a seven-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic transmission, depending on your preference.
With a top speed of 190 mph and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, it’s one of the fastest cars on the planet. It also handles like no other car out there, with its rear engine and rear wheel drive putting all that power to good use.
The 991.2 (2015-2018)
The 991.2 (2015-2018) model of the 911 has been in production since 2015 and is still in production today. It was designed to be more efficient than previous models, with better fuel economy and emissions ratings as well as improved performance for both the Carrera S and Carrera 4S models.
This model also features an updated infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay integration, which allows drivers to control their iPhones from the dashboard screen on their cars.
With its distinctive design, it has been a favorite among car enthusiasts for decades. But now, with new innovations like turbocharging and an efficient flat-six engine, this classic vehicle is more powerful than ever before. It’s also lighter and faster than previous generations of the 911 – so you can enjoy driving even more.
The 992 (2018 onwards)
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new generation of this legendary vehicle, but now it’s here and it’s called the 992.This is the future of driving pleasure. A car that will take you to places you never thought possible in an automobile. And with its advanced technology, it will be your faithful companion for many years to come.
Final Thoughts
With this latest generation of Porsche’s flagship model, you can enjoy an even more dynamic driving experience thanks to its lower weight combined with increased power output from both engine types – petrol and diesel engines.
This means that your vehicle will not only offer outstanding performance but also excellent efficiency levels at all times. And if you are looking for a high-performance sports car that combines these two qualities perfectly then there really is no better choice out there on the market today!
The Porsche 911 is a classic that will continue to be embraced by generations for years and decades to come. It all depends on what you want – there are some people who prefer the new models, others like older Porsches, while still more go with something in between.
No matter which one you choose, it’s always going to have its own charm and memories attached. So if you ever get an opportunity to buy one of these beauties used or new, don’t pass on it just because there might be another model coming out later.
You won’t regret your decision in any case – this car will always remain iconic long after many other models have faded from memory.

He recently celebrated his 19th wedding anniversary to Kelly, they have two bairns, two cats a “Chunk the very fat goldfish”.

BEYOND THE GRID: Jan Magnussen on breaking Sennas records reaching F1 and what hed do differently
Jan Magnussen’s short-lived stint in F1 was something of an puzzle at the time. But now, almost 25 years on from his final race in the sport – which yielded his only points finish – the Dane tells the Beyond The Grid podcastwhy things didn’t click for him in Grand Prix racing, and how he’s using the lessons he learned to help son Kevin succeed today... Jan’s single-seater career started like a dream with victory in the prestigious Formula Ford Festival in 1992, a taster of British F3 the following year that yielded a podium in only his second race, then a full-time assault for 1993 that saw him rack up 14 wins from 18 races – eclipsing Ayrton Senna’s record of 12 in the process. Surely, the next step would be F1 stardom? Not quite, as it transpired, with Jan telling podcast host Tom Clarkson that something was missing from his apprenticeship: “I won a lot, but it didn’t really teach me how to fight for it. All the success in F3 went against me in the following years”. READ MORE: Kevin Magnussen and father Jan to compete in Gulf 12 Hours endurance race After a solid stand-in performance for unwell McLaren driver Mika Hakkinen at the 1995 Pacific Grand Prix, Jan secured his first full-time shot at F1 for the 1997 season, joining Jackie Stewart’s newly-launched operation a few years on from that dominant campaign with son Paul’s F3 outfit. What came next was a run of 23 races in midfield machinery that featured no fewer than 15 retirements, with Jan’s P6 finish at the 1998 Canadian Grand Prix marking his only point in his final F1 outing – Stewart opting to bring in Jos Verstappen as a replacement midway through the campaign. Candidly admitting that he did not fully understand the “enormity of the task” that faced him in F1, reaching the grid is nonetheless something Jan still feels “super proud of”, along with the successful career he has forged in endurance racing – which includes four class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now, Jan is watching his son, Kevin, plot his own path to success in F1 via an impressive return with Haas for 2022. While Kevin has “done it his way”, Jan says he is more than happy to “watch from the side, giving him the advice I can give him” to avoid the pitfalls he once experienced. READ MORE: Magnussen says it’s been a ‘massive privilege’ to make F1 comeback as sitting on the sidelines ‘hurt’ Listen to a wide-ranging and fascinating Beyond The Grid interview with Jan Magnussen in the player above or head here to catch it on your preferred platform.
