How to Build an Author Website - Finding the Right Hosting Provider
As discussed last time in “How to Build an Author Website” (and what kind of budget do you need for it?), finding the right hosting provider can be the greatest hurdle in building your own site.
To get you started, we’re breaking down the best tips for finding an ideal hosting provider and vetting them thoroughly to ensure they fit your needs (and aren’t charging more than they’re worth!). Once again, Lena S Andersson, author of Behind Closed Doors: Trusting The Unseen and builder of her own author website, is here to give some first-hand insights on the process.
First things first – why are we discussing hosting providers and not also domain providers? Shouldn’t they be equally as important? Well, almost.
A Note About Domain Names
Many hosting providers include domain names as a part of their package. Depending on the package you choose, this may be more cost-effective than buying them separately.
Buying them separately may give you more naming options. For example, some hosting providers don’t like sites that end with “.co” instead of “.com.” If you have your heart set on a certain URL, but the “.com” version is taken, finding an independent domain provider may allow you to switch up the “.[whatever]” to get the one you want.
If you buy your domain name separately, you’ll have to ‘sync’ this up with your hosting provider. Most hosting providers want you to buy your domain name from them, so the process for ‘syncing’ it up may be a bit complicated. Altogether, though, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.
Pro-Tip from Lena: “Domain names are sometimes cheaper to buy separately. You can get them for $2 or less! However, some hosting providers won’t accept domain names if these domain names are connected to another provider they don’t like. You’ll have to do some research beforehand to make sure there isn’t any rivalry between your domain and hosting providers!”
With all that settled, we’re back to hosting providers. So, to find the right one, let’s dive in.
Research
As a writer, you’re used to a fair amount of research. Be prepared to treat this even more thoroughly than your hunt for facts about burn victims!
It’s better to have a list of hosting providers as long as your arm, rather than miss that ideal company which offered the right price for the best service. This process will also better inform you on what’s the industry norm; should all hosting companies provide an email, a cache, some degree of security, and other features as a given? You’ll be better able to spot when you’re being ripped off.
Compare
And while it may seem counter-intuitive, you shouldn’t immediately go for the biggest name in town. GoDaddy, BlueHost, and other such companies are indeed popular for a reason and are worth considering, but there are also many other small-time hosting services, like 1and1, which can offer similar packages for better rates, all for the privilege of having your business.  Site such as HostingFacts.com provide comparison articles that line up two or more companies and bring their true merits (or faults) to light. If you’re committing for a year or more, it’s worth being a little jaded.
Reviews
Reviews count for a lot - we all know this - but sometimes it’s easy to look past a few one-star ratings when faced with a great deal. Sadly, that’s a choice that doesn’t have very forgiving consequences when it comes to hosting providers. The reviewers you’ll find for hosting companies are probably the most honest of any you’ll see online. After spending a few dollars or several hundred, only to be happy with the purchase or forced to go elsewhere with their projects on hold, if they say it’s good – believe them…. But check out what the bad reviews say - and believe them even more.
Lena had a case such as this. “Do thorough research online for hosting companies with a good reputation. Check what they offer on the technical side, but most importantly, see if they have great customer service! I ended up having to ditch my previous hosting company because they simply would not reply to my messages and help me when I had questions. I ended up losing money and a lot of time launching my site. After finding a new hosting company, however, it’s been so much easier.”
Be Sure of the Basics for a Package
Pro-Tip from Lena: “This can be when it comes to the technical side of things. Be sure you understand what the package you pay for includes. For example, will you get email addresses with the package, SSL function, shop function, etc.? Things like SSL can be very costly if you have to pay for that outside of a package.”
SSL is essentially a security measure that guarantees the data transmitted from the web service to the browser is encrypted – a.k.a. it keeps your site that much safer from hackers. While, sure, it’s unlikely to have any hackers targeting a lone author when there are juicier sites to prey on, it does happen – and having basic SSL at least ensures you’re not unspeakably easy prey.
If you intend on selling your book from your website, then a shop function will be a necessary extra burden on your hosting, which can cost more to add later. Selling your book directly from your site does give you more control over the shipping and handling, and ensures all the profits (outside the printing process) go to you.
Tips for Making the Process Easier
Buy All Inclusive
Pro-Tip from Lena: “When you start out or are a beginner with building websites, go for the simple things. For example, hosting packages that include everything you want to have on your website, so that you have an 'all-in-one' package.”
Save yourself the hassle, expenses, and headache of trying to piece together the elements needed for your site. They’re complicated to find and can cost more later! Instead, go for an all-inclusive package (or as inclusive as you can manage), so that you have a stable area to work up from.
Build Simple, Upgrade later.
Pro-Tip from Lena: “If you are a beginner, don't try and have all kinds of technical stuff on your site; make it look good, be easy to navigate, and save all the advanced, techie stuff for later.”
The most important thing is having a site that fits your budget and which serves as your front-end representation to visitors. As time goes on, your budget increases, or you find you need more features on your site, these can be upgraded at that time. If you decide to learn more about web designing and customize it more yourself, then you can do so gradually. The first step is having a secure foundation that serves its purpose well – long-term or just for now.
Focus on Quality More Than Pricing or Added Services
Pro-Tip from Lena: “Go for a reputable hosting company. This isn’t a buying decision you can easily reverse later, so be as jaded as you please.”
While it’s important to get the best deal, it will be far more difficult to transfer your site to another hosting provider later on, should they not turn out as peachy keen as you initially thought.
All in All
That’s it for this article, so tune in next time for “Learning to Build a Site” in our five-part series. Thanks for reading, and happy writing!

That is my favourite and recommended. As the name says Namecheap, Namecheap stands among the cheapest domain registrar and hosting service provider. Their Domain prices as well as hosting prices are Really cheap and quality. Namecheap is a great company to registrar your new web domain name at the affordable price for most of the domain extension. They offer domain & web hosting including shared, VPS, Dedicated Server and Email hosting at low prices. What is a Domain Registrar?
A domain registrar according to Wikipedia, is an organization or commercial entity that manages the reservation of Internet domain names.
A domain name registrar must be accredited by a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry and/or a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) registry.
The management is done in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries.
Why Choosing The Best Domain Registrar is Important?
Since we buy domains to represent our online presence from a domain registrar, choosing the perfect one is a lot more important.
One wrong choice and you can end up paying more for the whole registration period or even have to settle for fewer features.
A good domain name registrar has to be one that has all the standard features, offers a good hosting plan and has a responsive customer service within an affordable price.
With that said, here are 7 Best domain name registrars that you can use to buy your next domain.
1. Godaddy
Godaddy is been synonymous with domains and hosting.
They are one of the biggest names in the domain industry and e-commerce industry with a market share of over 30%.
With Godaddy, you can get started with just $2.99.
The interface of Godaddy is pretty nice when it comes to selecting a domain name.
Godaddy offers almost all the TLDs including country specific domain extensions and provides other online services like hosting, website builder, SSL certificates.
In a nutshell, Godaddy is the best place to buy domain name. Period!
Features and highlights:
One of the leading domain registrars
Offers hosting and website builder in one go
Offers other e-services like logo designs and website design
The pricing and customer service is decent if not the best.
What I like:
Offers almost every known TLD and domain extension
Uncluttered Domain dashboard & easy setup of domain settings
Provides hosting (which is good if you’re new and not techy, but I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone blogging for business)
What I don’t like:
Pricing is high. Privacy protection comes at extra charges
Hosting and other services are limited.
Upsells are so pushy and intrusive that if you’re not alert enough, you’ll often end up buying domain extensions and other things that are not needed at all.
Check Godaddy Website!
2. Google Domains
When you’re looking to register your domains what better can it be than registering it with Google.
Google domains is by far the most professional domain registering body that I have come across.
Unlike other domain registrars, Google domains’ interface is clean, minimal like the Google.com homepage and doesn’t jam you with loads of upsells/cross-sells and hidden banners.
Google domains doesn’t have hosting facilities. It is strictly a domain registrar.
You can, however, integrate Google domains with G Suite (formerly Google apps) for an additional $5 per month to get custom emails and online storage and team management solutions.
Features and highlights:
Register any top level domain
Up to 100 subdomains per domain
Up to 100 email aliases to that can point your business emails ([email protected]) to your preferred or existing emails (like [email protected]).
What I like:
Very minimal and professional, easy-to-use interface.
Privacy protection free of cost.
Has a huge list of domain extensions to choose from.
What I don’t like:
Costly as compared to other domain registrars.
Doesn’t offer hosting facilities without which a domain is simply a name. If you want a hosting, you probably have to buy it from other providers.
Doesn’t offer country specific domains with privacy protection.
Check Google Domains Website!
3. Namecheap
Namecheap is another industry standard for domain name registrations and is a better alternative to Godaddy.
Namecheap also offers hosting and SSL solutions at affordable budget plans.
Namecheap has a great checkout interface without cluttering your path with upsells.
Domains from Namecheap come with free whois privacy.
Features and highlights:
Cheaper domain plans
Provides hosting and SSL at lower prices
Superfast Customer care
Privacy protection is free.
Free email forwarding to your existing email.
What I like:
The interface is clean and user-friendly
Very trusted name and easy domain management system
Provides hosting and SSL that are as per customer reviews, better than Godaddy.
Onboarding and customer service is seamlessly easy.
What I don’t like:
Auto renewal of domains can be glitchy.
Check Namecheap Website!
4. Name.com
Like Godaddy and Namecheap, Name.com is also an ICANN accredited domain registrar which helps you to register, renew or transfer domains quickly.
They also provide hosting and other services like SSL and website builder and G suite integration.
Features and highlights:
Domain registration is a breeze. They have clear options to look out for upcoming extensions and expiring domains that can help you in grabbing your preferred domains.
Provides hosting, free SSL, and separate email services without needing you to create a website.
What I like:
The interface is clean and doesn’t clutter upsells Has almost every option to get online without needing to look anywhere else. Free whois privacy
What I don’t like:
Hosting service is basic, and you could get a better hosting with free domain from services like Bluehost with half the price.
Customer support average. Phone service isn’t available on weekends and no live chat which is unacceptable.
Check Name.com Website!
5. Namesilo
Namesilo is another popular domain registrar which is one of the cheapest and also the most transparent as far as pricing is concerned.
Namesilo offers cheaper domain registrations rates and doesn’t have renewal up charges which is a dealmaker when you are registering domains for long-term.
Features and highlights:
No hidden fees: Namesilo is transparent in pricing and has no hidden charges, upsell pushes and minimum purchase amount for their customers.
Easy integrations: Namecheap offers easy integrations of popular services like blogger.com, G suite which is great for non-techy customers.
Professional domain flipping: In case you’re looking for domain trading and flipping Namesilo has a wide variety of domain investor tools which help you track and trade up to 1000s of domains at a time.
FREE domain parking: Have premium domains? Namesilo allows you to showcase sellable domains with their own custom landing page without any extra cost.
What I like:
No renewal up charges which is great for long-term use.
Domain trading facilities
Lifetime free whois privacy.
They accept Bitcoin payment if you’d like that.
What I don’t like:
There is no hosting facility in case you’d want to host your domain/website.
Check Namesilo Website!
6. Register.com
Register.com is another domain registration firm that helps you register domains at cheap prices.
With Register.com you can buy domains with any extensions like .xyz, .guru amongst others.
They do have a hosting support for those of you who want to have hosting and domains at one hand.
Register.com does offer a responsible customer support via phone which is essential when you are doing an online business.
Features and highlights:
Wide range of domains to choose Hosting support for website builders WordPress Site setup projects for cheaper prices.
What I like:
Domains are really cheap. You get the first year at only $0.99
Switching of DNS is easy as I found in my research
Wide variety of hosting solutions to choose from
Great customer care
What I don’t like:
Hosting does not match the quality of dedicated hosting providers like Bluehost (read below).
Check Register.com Website!
7. 1and1.com
If you’re looking for a reputed domain register that has a good number of customer service, I guess 1and1 is the one you need.
1and1 has been around since 1988 with good customer reviews.
1and1 lets you get started with .com domains for as low as $0.99/year.
You surely have to pay more for renewal charges, but they align with other domain registrars listed here.
1and1 also offers wide variety of hosting including managed hosting.
Features and highlights:
Unlimited hosting plus free domain for the first year at only $1/year.
Good customer service with phone support.
Email and e-commerce services for the less tech-savvy buyers.
SSL integration for cheap prices.
What I like:
Very cheap to get started
Been around for a long time with good customer reviews
Hosting is free for the first year which is a USB for any registrar.
What I don’t like:
I would again say, hosting from domain services are not worth it when compared to dedicated hosting providers
1and1 doesn’t have cPanel and works on a custom backend. This is great if you’re new to hosting, but if you have experience in hosting with cPanel, you’ll find it irritating.

FREE Domain Name from Bluehost
The complete website solution
If you’re looking to buy domain names chances are you want to setup a website and get online. This is where you need a hosting.
If you’re wondering what’s the difference...
A domain name is your website address which users will type to reach your website/blog.
But as you know a website contains text articles, images, multimedia files and all those things. Where do you store them?
That’s where you need a hosting.
Hosting acts as a space to locate your media files and website as a whole in one place. This is why you need a hosting after you buy a domain.
Most of the above domain name registrars have their own hosting services but to be honest, they are all basic and geared towards simple hobby websites or a 1-2 page business websites.
Hosting from domain registrars often have less bandwidth and are limited in resources.
It is always recommended that you buy hosting from reputed hosting providers who are solely in that business.
This is where Bluehost comes.
It is one of the cheapest yet industry standards when it comes to providing hosting.
In fact, they offer you a free domain name (for lifetime) if you get hosting from them which is an icing on the cake.
Why should you choose Bluehost?
Bluehost is a reputed web hosting company powering over 2 million websites and is used by top bloggers including me. (for my niche sites.)
They have great customer service, and the pricing is best for beginners.
Here are some quick reasons why you should buy domains + hosting from Bluehost:
Free domain name for life
Best hosting services
In-budget pricing
1-click WordPress install
Good customer support
⤷ Click Here To Check Bluehost Page ⤶
Wrapping up:
To sum up the list of top best domain registrars for domain purchase, I’ve listed the ones that are the best as per my research and personal experience.
If you’re buying a domain for the first time, I suggest going with Godaddy or Namesilo since they have the best interface and onboarding experience plus are budget friendly.
However, if you want to set up a website and start blogging you should choose Bluehost which means you get a free domain name with your hosting account.

Cómo crear una página web usando Tumblr
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5.

Go pro with your own email address
It’s time to face facts: the only people who look professional with a Gmail address are those who work at Google. If you don’t believe us, think back to the last time you were stuck behind a plumber’s van in slow-moving traffic. It was almost certainly plastered with mobile numbers, and probably a webmail address. How much more professional would it look if they had their own domain? Registering a domain is cheap – typically £10 or less – and setting it up to handle your email is easy. You’ll be up and running in under an hour and, if you’re that plumber, we’re fairly sure it will bring you more business, too. Registering your domain Unless you’ve already registered your perfect domain (in which case jump ahead to Setting up your email), this is the tricky part. If you were counting on bagging, say, plumber.com, don’t start repainting the van just yet. That domain was registered in 1995 and won’t expire for another two years. Even then, the existing owner has first dibs on renewal – as is the case with all domains – so it’s highly unlikely to come your way.   A new UK domain is snapped up every 20 seconds. At the end of last year, VeriSign put the total number of addresses recorded in the previous three months at 271 million – that’s 2.9 million domains per day. It’s no wonder that the name you’re after, unless it’s your own and you happen to have an unusual moniker, has probably gone. If you want a chance of registering something memorable, you’ll have to think smart – either by combining relevant words or looking beyond the most familiar top-level domains for your new home on the net. Top-level domains These sit at the end of each domain. It’s the .com, .uk or .net suffix with which we’re all familiar. Some top-level domains (TLDs) are more popular than others; with .com streaking ahead, and .uk being the world’s third most popular country-specific code. Every common profession in either of these TLDs is already taken, and even if you combine your name with your job, there’s no guarantee you’ll strike gold (timtheplumber.com was registered a decade ago). Luckily, new TLDs such as .london and .wales give local businesses a second chance, but they each have rules attached – including a restriction on certain words. We’re not only talking about profanities here: plumber.london is a restricted domain as far as the capital’s TLD is concerned (bestplumberin.london, on the other hand, is fine – if you really can prove you’re top of the tree). Moving into second Nominet, which oversees non-academic addresses ending .uk, recently opened up the second-level domain space – the bit immediately before .uk. It’s now possible to register a domain without the .co or .me, meaning that both bestplumber.co.uk and bestplumber.uk are valid, and each can point to a different site and set of email inboxes. But again, there’s a catch. To stop domain-squatters and rivals snapping up brand names, such as alphr.uk, Nominet has put a ten-year block on the registration of any .uk for which there’s already a matching .co.uk to anyone other than the existing .co.uk domain’s owner. Even after the decade’s up, they’ll still be out of reach if someone else has the .me.uk or .org.uk equivalent, as they’ll be in front of you in the virtual queue. So, if your chosen domain isn’t available in the .co.uk, .com or relevant geographic TLD of your choice, you need to widen your search. Consider a generic option, such as .company, .cloud and .dot, and use mainstream registration services, such as 1&1 (1and1.co.uk) and 34SP (34sp.com), to search multiple TLDs simultaneously and draw up comprehensive lists of available options for any keyword. Combining words Alternatively, look for a sensible, relevant combination. Sticking together two or three descriptive terms, such as “leaks”, “be” and “gone” gives you a better chance of success (case in point: leaksbegone.com is available at the time of writing, and so is leeksbegone.com if you want to catch potential customers who can’t spell). It’s quirky and descriptive, and it’s also highly memorable. Put [email protected] on the back of your van and it will stick in the minds of delayed drivers far more effectively than a long string of letters and digits hosted at Hotmail or Gmail. Tools such as Bust A Name (bustaname.com) simplify the task of finding working combinations, allowing you to type in a list of keywords that it will mix and match until it finds an available hit. Note, though, that it doesn’t cover .co.uk addresses, only the likes of .com, .org and .net. Setting up your email A few hours after registering your domain, it will start showing up in domain name system (DNS) databases around the world. These are used to correctly route your email to the server on which the domain is hosted. All you need to do is set up an email-hosting account to process the messages once they arrive. The process for doing this differs between providers. Some, such as One (one.com), offer a free email account with any domain you register through it; others charge per address.
"A new UK domain is snapped up every 20 seconds. It's no wonder that the name you're after has probably gone"
There’s always a limit to what you get bundled with a simple domain name registration. This is hardly surprising, because web hosts want you to take advantage of their services rather than simply sit on domain names. If all you want to do is forward email and reply to it, then that should be possible for free, provided you jump through the hoops outlined (see Email forwarding, p30, for a run-through of how to do this). Using your web host’s webmail service, on the other hand, is likely to be an extra cost. All web hosts require you to log in to your domain control panel and specify the email address you want to use from there. At the very least you’ll need to provide a mailbox name – which goes before the @ – and a password to keep it secure. Some will also ask for a real name that can be appended to outgoing emails when using an associated webmail service. If you choose to use your web host’s webmail service as part of a hosting package, this will be set up automatically, and your host should detail within its configuration pages the address at which you can find the webmail interface. If not, put in a support request, and in the interim try adding “mail.”, “webmail.” or “atmail.” to the front of your domain name, without the www. If you prefer to use a regular client rather than webmail, most email-hosting services offer a choice of POP3 and IMAP connections. POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) is the most basic offering: incoming messages received by the server are mirrored on your computer, smartphone and tablet – but any you mark as read on one device will still appear as unread on the others. It doesn’t archive outgoing messages on the server, either – so if you settle for POP3, you’ll need to additionally specify an SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) server address within your email application to handle outgoing mail. IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a better option, since it updates the read status on the server and any connected devices when it’s changed on just one of them, and archives outgoing messages on the server. Fortunately, almost all email servers identify themselves automatically, so supplying your email address and password is usually all that the email client needs to configure itself. If not, all hosts detail their server addresses in their support pages, and will usually include it in the welcome email you’ll receive when setting up your account. When setting up your client, pay attention to the server ports and authentication options, which may differ from the default options offered up by your software. Setting these incorrectly is a common failure point. Email-only accounts Many registration companies bundle together email accounts with web-hosting deals, which is overkill if all you want is a more memorable address to paint on a van. In this case, specialist email-only options can be a better choice.
"You could have one mailbox for complaints, another for bookings and a third for personal mail, all on the same domain"
Simply Mail Solutions (simplymailsolutions.com), for example, offers email-only hosting on Microsoft Exchange servers from £12 per year. It’s a small price to pay if email is key to your business, and it’s a neat solution for solo users, too. If you’re setting up an email-only domain for a small business, then take a look at Zoho Mail (zoho.com/mail), which lets you host up to ten users on a single domain for free. Those users don’t have to be real people, so you could have one mailbox for complaints, another for bookings and a third for personal mail, all on the same domain. Redirecting your mail Registering a domain automatically points all of its services – email, web and FTP – to the servers of the company through which you reserved it. So, if you want to use a third-party service, such as Zoho or Simply Mail Solutions, you’ll need to redirect the incoming email to their external servers To do this, log in to your domain control panel and look for an option to change your DNS settings and, within this section, check any specific mention of mail exchange (MX) records. These specify the address of the primary and backup servers handling incoming email. (If you can’t find these details, check through your host’s FAQ or contact its support team.) Make a note of the default entries so you can change them back if required, then replace them with those of your third-party service. If you’re using Zoho Mail, for example, you’d enter: Host Address Priority @ mx.zohomail.com. 10 @ mx2.zohomail.com. 20 (Note the full stop at the end of each address: this is important and must be included. It can take a few hours for these changes to propagate round the net, but once they have done, incoming mail will bypass your registration company’s servers and arrive in your third-party account. Email forwarding For some users, even these simple measures will be overkill, in which case email forwarding will suffice. Most registration providers offer this as a free add-on to a registered domain, using it to bounce the email they receive on your behalf to an existing account hosted elsewhere. Some only offer “catch-all” forwarding, in which every incoming message is passed on, including your spam. Spammers frequently target generic mailboxes such as admin@, user@ and root@ at your domain, so finding a host that allows you to forward specific mailboxes, such as bookings@, jobs@ and tim@, and discard everything else, is an effective first level in spam defence. Most domain control panels give access to this feature through a link labelled “email forwarding”, but some may rename it “email redirect” or even “domain redirect”. When you’ve identified it within your provider’s dashboard, supply the address to which you’d like to forward your messages and specify which mailboxes you want to receive ([email protected], for example). Spoofing your From address We describe below how to have emails forwarded to your personal account. Any replies you send to those messages will emanate from your existing email account, however, and show your address at that service rather than your bespoke domain. So, if you’re forwarding them via a webmail service, you should change the From address in your account settings. 1. If you don’t already have a Yahoo Mail account, set one up at mail.yahoo.com, then use the email-forwarding option in your domain control panel to forward all incoming email received at your domain to the new Yahoo address. 2. Log in to your Yahoo inbox, click the cog in the top-right corner and pick Settings from the menu. Click Accounts in the sidebar of the pop-up dialog, followed by the Add button beside Accounts in the main body of the box. 3. Enter the address you’re forwarding (such as [email protected]) in both the Email Address and Reply To Address boxes. Click Save, and a confirmation email will be sent to your new domain – from where it will be automatically forwarded to your Yahoo inbox. 4. Click the link in the email to let Yahoo send outgoing messages using your domain address. Then, click the cog again and select Settings. Click Accounts and select your domain address from the menu beside Default Sending Account. 5. Now, whenever you send a new email or reply to a forwarded email through the Yahoo webmail interface, your domain address will be automatically specified in the From field, giving your outgoing emails a more professional appearance. 8 Simple Steps to Becoming an AdWords Millionaire!
8 Simple Steps to Becoming an AdWords Millionaire!
http://amacoupo.com/8-simple-steps-to-becoming-an-adwords-millionaire-2/
In this article, I’m going to tell you exactly what I did, in my first week, in my very first tiny, Google AdWords Ad campaign to make $1,000 in six days.
Most of you are like me. You heard about people making huge sums of money on Google AdWords. Or, you heard about someone building a large website, marketing it, and raking in tens of thousands of dollars in passive income.
Before we get into this, let me assure you that I am just an ordinary person, who believes that if some other Bozo can do this, I can do this. And, to let you know that I’m sincere, you can email me and request my phone number. I’ll talk to you personally and tell you what I did. Once I found the training and tools, the Internet became my oyster!
It’s the dream we all have – the dream of being able to live your life on your own terms. Who doesn’t want to travel, spend more time with the family, and buy whatever they want and need without worrying about it.
I read and purchased nearly everything I could for three full years. During that time I didn’t make a nickel from any kind of online business.
Then I found an Online Money Makers Club. It changed my life!
So, here’s what it taught me right out of the gate. I watched my first video – one of hundreds of video tutorials (all on one site, by the way) and the money started to pour in every day. I would watch my Clickbank account page. My sales were $200 to $300 per day.
Here it is:
Step #1
Open accounts in Google AdWords, Clickbank, an autoresponder, a website builder that also has domains for sale.
Be sure to force yourself to get organized right away. There is nothing worse than not being able to find those user names and passwords when you need them. I have a Rolodex-type system for numbers, passwords, etc. I know some people do an online Rolodex, which is probably even more efficient.
I also begin a filing system for each campaign right away. I just go into My Computer and develop a folder named for the campaign product. Everything I generate gets saved as files that go into that folder. Be obsessive about your record keeping. It will save you so much time later.
Step #2
Go to Clickbank and choose a product. I choose products that are more obscure, but have high “gravity” – an overall indication of how good a product does in affiliate marketing. Products like making money online, or losing weight have too much competition. These products are overworked. Go for things like cures for diseases, or acne solutions, or eBooks about pets. Those kinds of people are also desperate for answers, but affiliates have not flooded those markets.
Because you already have a Clickbank account, you can create a “hoplink” that will allow you to promote your product and get paid. The hoplink has your ID embedded in it. Don’t forget to save your hoplink in a file and put it in the folder. Label it carefully so you know exactly what it is when you’re going back to look for it.
Research your product. Sometimes there is an affiliate page where you can download and save pictures and text for your use.
Step #3
Go back to your website builder and get a domain name. For AdWords ads, I use long, hyphenated names because no one is going to need to remember the URL and reuse it. They are only going to click on your AdWords ad. The nice thing about longer domain names is that they use all of your AdWords “allowed spaces” which makes your ad more visible. As an aside, don’t choose long domain names for your larger information website.
Build a one-page website using the pictures and text you downloaded from the affiliate product you chose. In the text dialogue on the page, place links using your Hoplink code that you saved earlier. This is easier than you think. Say you are writing a paragraph about the product, just highlight relevant words (like Acne products). While they are highlighted, go up to the toolbar and you will see a symbol for linking. It often looks like an actual chain of two links. Click that symbol and you will see a box where you can paste in your Clickbank hoplink. Don’t forget to save your work. Find the “save” button probably on the top toolbar.
Step #4
Go to your auto responder and develop what’s called a “list”. The list is really just an autoresponder campaign name so that you can do your opt-in pages and follow up letters. Follow the instructions and create an opt-in form, and at least two follow up letters.
Find a free product that you can give away to anyone who responds by opting in on your website.
Copy and paste your opt-in form link, given to you after you create the form, and place it somewhere on your one page website. I put mine at the bottom. But at the top of my website page (homepage) I say “scroll down to the bottom to sign up for a free eBook”… something like that. The Club that I belong to has many products for your use to promote for free. You can attach your free product to your second follow-up letter that you created on your autoresponder.
After you have placed your opt-in form on the site, go ahead and launch the site. You should see a place on the upper menu to launch your website.
At this point you are probably thinking this is all too complicated. if you have questions or get confused, there’s an email link on the website.
However, if you’ve gotten this far, you have a website ready to promote your product.
Step #5
In the browser window of Google, type in Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Click on the Keyword tool. When it comes up, type in your main phrase for generating keywords. So, let’s say you are promoting an eBook about curing acne. Put the words “acne cure” in the box (it’s obvious when you see it) and click search. A list of relevant keywords and phrases will com up. Choose words and phrases you want to use by clicking on “add” next to the phrase or word. That will add your keywords to a list. You will see some blue boxes after the keywords. Those boxes indicate the level of competition. Try to “add” keywords that have no blue in them, or that are very low.
You will want to start with 50-100 keywords. Scroll down to the bottom of your list of saved keywords and save your list either just as a document or the preferred Spreadsheet.
Actually, I like to make both. Save both documents. Remember to label them and put them as files into your campaign folder.
Step #6
Go to your AdWords account. Create a campaign and name it the same way you named your folder. You will have several “ad groups” within a single campaign. Each group will represent a list of keywords that are very similar. So, one group might be “Acne answers”. Another group might be named “cures for skin problems”. You are going to highlight words from your keywords group in your ad(s). I like to have about four groups within my campaign. I also like to test two ads at a time within each group.
Now initiate an “ad group” within your first campaign. Create two ads using similar keywords. Your ads will be on hold until they are approved. Make sure that your campaign and ad group are both set at “enable” if you are ready to begin.
Step #7
You will be asked your CPC bid limit and your daily budget. You can learn all about keyword bidding and budgeting in the Help section of AdWords.
Step #8
Go back to the Google AdWords Keyword tool. Erase your first list of chosen keywords. That’s OK because, remember you saved the first list. Put a different keyword (or phrase) into the search box. You might put in “teenage skin problems” and then search. Follow the same steps outlined above. Save those keywords. Go back to Google AdWords and create another “ad group” within your first campaign.
Give yourself about two weeks to learn and watch your first campaign. After that, you can begin another campaign using an entirely different product from Clickbank.
The best autoresponder is Aweber in my opinion. There are many website building sites. I’ve used Hostgator, 1and1, and Godaddy.
So, that’s my story. It’s really just an explanation about how I learned to put together my first AdWords campaign. I’m happy to say, it has been Internet bliss since I found The Club!
