first: i don't remember too much. shocker: it was in my mom's house. growing up in a house will do something to all your dreams even though i think of a different house when i think of home. actually it was in a combo my mom's house/my dad's house/gothic castle. there was a closet with water mysteriously not leaking out from the doorframe filled 2 feet tlal. there were 3 baby hammerhead sharks in the water. about 1 foot long each. i thought they were so cute.
there was an evil vampire milf? she had the flapper girl hairstyle & some bodycon red silk dress with subtle flower pattern & ruffle sleeves. we were trying to defeat her but she made everything go wrong - the water leaked out, the sharks were floppnig around, the other rooms were ruined.... idk in the end she ended up taking control of me & eating all the bllood out of my body. i don't want ot say it wassn't kind of sexy.
then: had a dream that willaim osmanwas trying to sell a car at my mom's house it was parked in the driveway. I also had a different car I had a dark green "kia Colorado" that was about the size of a suv. he & all his yputiber friends were there but I was also there ..? he had some kind of plushie thing that he was willing to giveaway to people who ???? and I wanted one really bad but I wasnt exactly close with him. I was juwt there & helping out on occasion. I kept trying to find the time to ask for one but he seemed really busy. there was some other girl there who also seemed to feel detached from the situation.
eventually he decided to put the car for sale in the garage since the sun was setting, so I said okay let me pull my car out so i dont get bloxked in latwr! & started moving stuff in the driveway out of the way. once I opened my car door neuvilette & sigewinne genshi ipact were in there eating fruit shaped candies that I had & I was like huh. & neuvi was like "these are quite tasty & we have grown a liking to them. have you sny more?" then a random car finally pulled into the driveway before I could respond and it was "William's wife" exxept it wss jsut a random asian lady with short hair instead of his actual wife. the garage got wider to fit her in & all the cars in it were moved down one slot. I still wanted to ask about the plushies , but the wife was taking giant rice-bag sized sacks of fruity candy out of their house & putting one in each car, so I figured best not to press my luck.
scene shift a bit & a bunch of random different gebshin characters were now I different cars on the highway, but the highway was taken over by incredibly strong unkillable beasts or something. there was a ruin hunter at the top of a hill with dark blue energy covering its weak point stuck in missile mode shooting huge aoes & homing missiles at a car that had yelan/gorou/faruzan/kirara in it . yelan got oneshot while trying to shoot it through the blue energy & rhw other 3 were freaking out tryint to escape - faruzan got killed too but managed tosomehow heal the party, which also somehow triggered electrocharge on all the mobs.kirara randonly turned into a short male anemo claymore user from..natlan? he was shirtless, had a long rectangular mask without visible eye holes with an X like patter on it (kindnof just like a tower shield for the face) & long spiky wine red hair kind of like razor's. he had an HP sacrificing mechanic. he didn't mqke t either due to losing kirara's "turn into a box and run really fast" ability.
the survivors got back to the city, which was floating in the air like a fantasy land and was only connected to the ground by the roads. they tried to sever the roads before the hordes of beasts arrived, but doing so triggered a fight with a "boss version" of one of your abandoned party members. I remember ganyu & shenhe vs boss Bennett, who was just monochrome & they increased his model size. ganyu's Q animation instead of raining icicles coated the whole air in viscous bubbly blue tinted but 70% transparent sludge that slowed him down & maybe had some kind of purification effect??? gorou was vs the boss version of the anemo kid, who took his mask off to reveal he was suddenly a large and musculat walter white. tvis was so funny to me I woke up

Opening Up Possibilities: A User-Friendly Guide to Choosing Garage Door Openers Near You
Your garage door opener is the unsung hero of your daily routine, providing convenience and security with just the click of a button. However, when it comes to choosing the right garage door opener, the options can be overwhelming. In this user-friendly guide, we'll explore the world of garage door openers, helping you understand the different types, features, and how to choose the perfect one for your needs.
Tumblr media
Section 1: Understanding the Basics
Before diving into the details, it's crucial to understand the basics of garage door openers:
Types of Garage Door Openers:
Chain-Drive Openers: Affordable and reliable, these openers use a chain to move the door. They can be a bit noisy but are a popular choice for budget-conscious homeowners. Belt-Drive Openers: These openers use a rubber belt for smoother and quieter operation. Ideal for attached garages, they offer a quieter alternative to chain-drive openers. Screw-Drive Openers: With a threaded steel rod, these openers are known for their minimal maintenance and smooth operation. They are a middle-ground option in terms of noise. Direct-Drive (Jackshaft) Openers: Mounted to the wall, these openers are known for their space-saving design and quiet operation. They are a great choice for garages with limited ceiling space. Motor Power:
Garage door opener motors are typically rated by horsepower (HP). Residential openers usually come in ½, ¾, or 1 HP. Choose a motor power based on the weight and size of your garage door. Smart Features:
Modern garage door openers near me often come with smart features, allowing you to control and monitor your garage door remotely using a smartphone app. Some even integrate with popular smart home platforms like Alexa or Google Assistant. Section 2: Assessing Your Needs
To choose the right garage door opener, consider the following factors:
Garage Door Size and Weight:
The size and weight of your garage door will influence the type and power of the opener you need. Heavier doors may require more horsepower for efficient operation. Noise Tolerance:
If your garage is located near bedrooms or living spaces, you might prioritize a quieter belt-drive or direct-drive opener to minimize noise disruption. Budget Constraints:
Determine your budget for a garage door opener. While chain-drive openers are more budget-friendly, belt-drive and direct-drive options offer quieter operation but may come with a higher price tag. Desired Features:
Consider the features that matter most to you. If smart functionality is essential, look for openers with Wi-Fi connectivity and compatibility with smart home systems. Section 3: Exploring Smart Garage Door Openers
Smart garage door openers add an extra layer of convenience and security to your home. Here's what you need to know:
Remote Monitoring:
Smart garage door openers allow you to monitor the status of your garage door remotely. Check if your door is open or closed from anywhere using a smartphone app. Remote Control:
Enjoy the convenience of opening and closing your garage door remotely. This feature is especially useful when you need to grant access to family members, friends, or service providers. Integration with Smart Home Platforms:
Many smart garage door openers seamlessly integrate with popular smart home platforms, enabling voice commands and automation. Check for compatibility with systems like Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit. Security Features:
Smart garage door openers often come with advanced security features, such as rolling code technology. This feature changes the access code each time the door is opened, enhancing security and preventing code interception by potential intruders. Section 4: Finding Garage Door Openers Near You
Now that you have a better understanding of your needs and the available options, here's how to find garage door openers near you:
Visit Local Retailers:
Explore local home improvement stores, garage door dealerships, or specialized retailers. Many have display models that allow you to see the openers in action and ask questions. Check Online Retailers:
Online retailers offer a wide range of garage door openers with customer reviews and ratings. Ensure that the product you choose is compatible with your garage door and meets your specific requirements. Ask for Recommendations:
Seek recommendations from friends, family, or neighbors who have recently installed smart garage door openers. Personal experiences can provide valuable insights into the reliability of different brands and models. Read Online Reviews:
Utilize online platforms such as Amazon, Home Depot, or manufacturer websites to read customer reviews. Pay attention to feedback related to ease of installation, reliability, and overall satisfaction. Consult with Garage Door Professionals:
Contact local garage door professionals for advice on choosing the right opener for your specific garage door and needs. They can offer expert insights and may even provide installation services. Section 5: Installation and Maintenance Tips
Once you've chosen the perfect garage door opener, consider the following tips for installation and maintenance:
Professional Installation:
While some homeowners opt for DIY installation, hiring a professional ensures that the opener is correctly installed, minimizing the risk of malfunctions and extending its lifespan. Regular Maintenance:
Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts, checking the balance of the door, and inspecting the safety features. This proactive approach can prevent issues and prolong the life of your garage door opener. Troubleshooting:
Familiarize yourself with common troubleshooting steps, such as checking for obstructions in the door's path, testing the safety sensors, and ensuring proper alignment of the tracks. Safety Considerations:
Educate family members on safety precautions when operating the garage door. Remind them not to place hands or objects near moving parts and to keep the area clear when the door is in motion. Conclusion:
Choosing the right garage door opener involves a thoughtful consideration of your needs, preferences, and the available options. Whether you prioritize a budget-friendly solution, a whisper-quiet operation, or advanced smart features, there's a garage door opener out there to suit your requirements. By following the user-friendly guide outlined above, you'll be well-equipped to make an informed decision and enjoy the benefits of a reliable and efficient garage door opener near you.

Choosing the Right Garage Door Opener: A Comprehensive Guide
Introduction
Garage door openers are an essential part of our everyday lives, offering convenience, security, and peace of mind. Whether you're coming home from a long day at work or preparing to head out on a weekend adventure, your garage door opener plays a vital role in ensuring your day runs smoothly. However, like any other mechanical device, garage door openers can experience wear and tear over time. When it's time to repair or replace your garage door opener, the search for "garage door openers near me" begins. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the factors to consider when choosing a garage door opener, the types of openers available, and how to find the perfect garage door opener near you.
Tumblr media
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Garage Door Opener
Before embarking on your quest to find the ideal garage door opener, it's crucial to understand the factors that should influence your decision. Your choice will depend on your specific needs, budget, and personal preferences. Here are some key factors to consider:
Type of Garage Door: The type of garage door you have plays a significant role in choosing the right opener. There are primarily four types of garage doors: sectional, roll-up, swing-up, and swing-out. Each type may require a different type of opener, so it's essential to match them appropriately.
Drive Mechanism: Garage door openers come with three main drive mechanisms: chain drive, belt drive, and screw drive. Chain drive openers are durable and affordable but can be noisy. Belt drive openers are quieter and require less maintenance but are usually a bit more expensive. Screw drive openers are known for their reliability but can be noisier than belt drives.
Horsepower: The horsepower of the opener should match the size and weight of your garage door. Single-car garage doors usually require 1/2 or 3/4 HP openers, while double-car garage doors may need 1 HP openers for smooth operation.
Security Features: Garage door openers play a crucial role in ensuring your home's security. Look for openers with advanced security features, such as rolling code technology, which changes the access code every time the door is operated, making it difficult for potential intruders to gain access.
Remote Access: Many modern garage door openers come with remote access options, allowing you to control your garage door from your smartphone. This feature can be incredibly convenient, especially if you want to let someone in while you're away from home.
Noise Level: Consider the noise level of the opener. If your garage is adjacent to living spaces, a quieter belt drive or a screw drive opener may be a better choice than a noisy chain drive.
Brand Reputation: Research and read reviews about various garage door opener brands. A reputable brand often ensures reliability and quality.
Types of Garage Door Openers
Understanding the different types of garage door openers available will help you make an informed decision when searching for "garage door openers near me." The main types of openers are:
Chain Drive Openers: These openers use a metal chain to move the trolley that raises and lowers the garage door. They are known for their durability and affordability but tend to be noisier compared to other types.
Belt Drive Openers: Belt drive openers use a rubber belt to operate the door, making them much quieter than chain drive openers. They are an excellent choice for garages located near bedrooms or living spaces.
Screw Drive Openers: Screw drive openers use a threaded steel rod to move the trolley. They are known for their reliability and require minimal maintenance. However, they can be slightly noisier than belt drive openers.
Direct Drive Openers: Direct drive openers have the motor itself moving along a stationary chain. These openers are incredibly quiet and reliable, making them a top choice for those who prioritize a noise-free garage door operation.
Jackshaft Openers: Jackshaft openers are mounted on the wall beside the garage door rather than on the ceiling. They are ideal for garages with limited ceiling space and provide quiet operation.
Smart Garage Door Openers: These openers can be controlled through a smartphone app and offer features like remote monitoring, scheduling, and integration with smart home systems. They provide convenience and enhanced security.
How to Find Garage Door Openers Near Me
Now that you've considered the key factors and learned about the types of garage door openers, it's time to find the perfect one near you. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you in your search:
Online Research: Start by doing some online research. Search for "garage door openers near me" using your preferred search engine. You'll find various local retailers, installers, and service providers.
Read Reviews: Look for customer reviews and ratings of the garage door openers you're interested in. These reviews can provide valuable insights into the performance and reliability of different models.
Ask for Recommendations: Seek recommendations from friends, family, or neighbors who have recently purchased or repaired garage door openers. Personal recommendations can be extremely helpful.
Contact Local Retailers: Reach out to local garage door retailers or showrooms. They often have a wide selection of openers and knowledgeable staff who can assist you in making the right choice.
Check for Special Offers: Keep an eye out for special offers or discounts from local retailers. Sometimes, you can find great deals on garage door openers during promotional periods.
Schedule Consultations: If you're unsure about your selection, consider scheduling consultations with garage door professionals. They can assess your specific needs and recommend the best opener for your situation.
Get Multiple Quotes: If you're planning to have a new opener installed, obtain quotes from different service providers. This will help you compare prices and choose the most cost-effective option.
Consider Installation and Maintenance: Think about whether you'll be installing the garage door opener yourself or hiring a professional. Professional installation can ensure that the opener functions correctly and may come with a warranty.
Check Warranty: Be sure to inquire about the warranty offered with your chosen garage door opener. A longer warranty period can provide peace of mind and save you money on potential repairs.
Conclusion
Selecting the perfect garage door opener is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Your choice will impact the convenience, security, and functionality of your garage. APRIL 17th
Jun-myeon poked his head out of his office.
“Byun, we’ve got a girl reported missing, go talk to her parents will you?”
Baek-hyun grabbed the holster from his chair, out of habit more than anything
“How old?”
“She’s twenty-six, Cho Min-young, lives in Hammer Hill. Her parents are waiting”
Baek-hyun slowed down and raised an eyebrow at his boss.
“Jun, you know I’m not a star case- guy, but a missing twenty-six year-old..? I thought you meant a kid. She’s probably at a boyfriend's house-”
“Nope”
“Girlfriend then-”
“They’ve called everyone they can think of, and she didn’t show up for work this morning. Come on, Byun, as a favour; it’ll be in and out. Take the new guy with you, show him how the pro’s do it”. Jun-myeon shot a wide smile at him, knowing he’d won Baek-hyun over.
In the middle of the stations commotion sat a young detective, trying his best to look as if he hadn’t overheard the conversation between Baek-hyun and the lieutenant, but he felt like a kid waiting for his fun uncle to collect him.
“Come on, Jong-in, you heard the boss”, Baek-hyun said, approaching him. “Is it alright if we drop the honorifics, can I speak informally to you?”
“Yes, it’s okay, Mr.Byun, you can speak informally.” Jong-in nodded with a slightly nervous smile.
“We, Jong-in. We speak informally. No mr, hyung, or nim, please.”
Having reached the car, Baek-hyun waited for Jong-in’s reaction( although if anyone asked, he’d never admit to such vanity).
“Shit, this is your car? It’s a beauty!”, Jong-in exclaimed when he realized what ride was theirs. “You’re in to the classics?”
Baek-hyun chuckled and feigned embarrassment.
“Yeah, this is my Old Betty”, but the charade only lasted a moment. “70’s Coupe Deville - Cadillac, obviously. My father brought it back from the States in the 80’s”. Seeing the question on Jong-in’s face Baek-hyun continued “He went to college over there, and saw this darling; dirt cheap if you ask him - a prettier penny than that if you ask my mother. He retired it a while back, and let me buy it. Actually, he would never let me buy it - I’ve been paying for their weekly grocery shopping without him knowing for the past two years now” he laughed, and Jong-in, now more relaxed, rolled his eyes in a I-know-the-type-way. Reaching in and popping the hood he gestured for Jong-in to follow him.
“See” he pointed to the machinery “the engine was alright, but I know a mechanic, so I had it fitted with a V8, and the normal updates; better versions of things they had in the original. I know, I know, the original is the soul and all that - but I don’t want my girl going bust when I’m doing 110 on the highway chasing bad guys, you know”. Jong-in nodded, but this part was beyond him. “Now she’s got 600 HP and manages 130 km and hour, easy”, Baek-hyun shamelessly bragged as they got in the car. It wasn’t any wonder really, the car was in top condition; the body a dark, almost black, brown, grill and hubcaps gleaming like they were newly polished, and the inside a creamy dream of tan leather and red details.
“So, do you also have a classic?”, Baek-hyun’s eyes were shining with anticipation. Jong-in might’ve opened a Pandora’s box here, and he didn’t want to make a bad impression on their first day together, but decided that honesty was always the best route.
“No, I wish..! If I knew anything about cars then maybe I could buy an oldie, fix it up myself, you know, but I’ve never been good at cars. And buying one in good condition…”, he sighed.
Baek-hyun whistled “Hell, I couldn’t afford that, and I’m a couple of pay grades above you..!”.
“Yeah, and with my kid, I think it’s better to save than splurge. Our Honda runs good enough.”
“Oh, I didn’t know you  have a kid. Boy or girl? Give me the deets.”
“Girl, Yong-sun. She’s eight months old, home with mommy - my girlfriend. We’ve been together seven years”, Jong-in said, almost stumbling over the last part, in case Baek-hyun would find it improper that he had a child before getting married.
“That long..! Congrats man, then you know it’s tried, tested and true”, Baek-hyun said, calming Jong-in’s nerves. Driving out of the garage he changed tone to a serious, albeit still relaxed, one “So, what d’you think; girl really missing or just out of reach? Pitch me some scenarios, rookie.”
                                                   ¤¤¤
Having parked on the side of the street, Baek-hyun stepped out and surveyed the area for a while. Hammer Hill was a nice neighbourhood; not the highest echelons of society, but definitely upper middle-class.
“Pretty nice place for a single twenty-something to live in, no?”
“Pretty nice for anyone”, Jong-in replied. “But those online stars make a lot of money, you know”.
“This much?” Baek-hyun frowned in disbelief. “You think she’s doing something on the side? Catering to a different audience, so to speak? Wouldn’t be the first time”, Baek-hyun sighed, while he started up the stairs. Jong-in, not wanting to offend anyone, erred on the side of caution
“I don’t know, anything is possible. But making this much money in a…” he hesitated “...pure way is also possible”.
“First lesson passed, rookie: avoid jumping to stereotypical conclusions”, Baek-hyun said with a dunk on Jong-in’s back, as they walked up to the door. After ringing the doorbell Baek-hyun turned to Jong-in and hurriedly said:
“But don’t mention prostitution to her parents, okay? Don’t say anything to alarm them further. We want them to remain calm, so they don’t forget to mention anything. Besides, she’ll probably pop up in the next day or so. Just try to...get a feel for the situation. You’ll be doing a lot of these house calls, trust me”.
The door was opened by Min-young’s mother, a woman in her fifties, without any especially distinguishing features, except for the worry in her eyes.
“Mrs. Cho, I’m detective Byu-”
“Oh, finally, thank god, come in”, Mrs. Cho exclaimed with relief, and moved so they could go in. “I apologize, it’s a mess, but I didn’t want to touch anything in case…” her voice faded. She ushered Baek-hyun and Jong-in to the living-room, where an older man - presumably Mr.Cho - and a younger man stood up to great the detectives. Baek-hyun gave it another try.
“Good afternoon, Sir, I’m detective Byun, this is my colleague detective Kim”, he said and took the man’s hand with a warm smile “you must be Mr. Cho”.
“Detective Byun, Kim”, Mr. Cho said with a short nod to them “Thank you for coming.” Gesturing to the young man he continued “this is Oh Sehun, Min-young’s friend”. They exchanged remaining pleasantries and sat down.
“So, tell us, what’s going on; the lieutenant said you haven’t heard from Min-young - is it okay if I call her Min-young?” he interjected, remembering his manners. After getting the okay from Mr. and Mrs. Cho he continued “So, still nothing new from Min-young since...yesterday evening, was it? Tell us what happened”. Mrs. Cho, with a slight tremble in her voice started
“Well, it wasn’t anything special yesterday, really. It’s not that we had plans and she didn’t show up. But I tried calling her in the evening, but she didn’t pick up the phone. We tried calling a couple of times, but when it got late we figured maybe she was just really busy, and decided to wait until the morning.”
“But she hasn’t picked up today either”, Mr. Cho chimed in. “I tried calling at eight thirty, right before she goes to work, but she didn’t answer, so I tried her office...nothing. They still haven’t heard from her” he said, holding his palms up. Baek-hyun sensed Mr. Cho was more perplexed than scared, which would be helpful in locating her, as opposed to Mrs. Cho, who might overlook something because of the stress she clearly was under.
“Excuse me”, Jong-in said in a low voice, and the whole company looked at him with surprise, almost having forgotten about his presence. “You said she went to her office; wasn’t she a social media personality? She didn’t work from home?”
Good catch, Baek-hyun thought.
“Oh, no. She used to, but she felt a bit cooped up working from home, so she moved to a small office space in Rolling Hills; in the Gigamex complex.”
Baek-hyun let Jong-in take the lead, try his wings, so to speak, and focused more on scribbling down names and dates in his police issued notepad (he found that it made people feel as if he really listened if he used pen and paper instead of some smart device). This also gave him the opportunity to gauge their reactions to any questions, to make sure they were on the up-and-up. And what of this Sehun character? Up until now he’d been quiet, only a few nods and nervous hands clasped together. Interrupting his train of thought, Jong-in continued
“And who was it you talked to at the office?”
“Michelle. We don’t know her last name, but she’s Min-young’s assistant, she helps her with editing and her calendar, I think”. One could tell that world wasn’t Mr. Cho’s arena, but he was close enough with his daughter to have heard a bit about it. Mrs. Cho picked up her mobile, and after a few scrolls held it out for Baek-hyun to copy
“Here. This is her number. She couldn’t say much, but if you want to talk to her...” Baek-hyun received it with a barely distinguishable bow and took her number down.
“Do you know if anyone was...less than nice to her online? Did she ever mention anything specific?” Jong-in knew the price of putting yourself out there often was people being rude, nasty, or worse, so he wanted to make sure he covered at least some of the bases. And to be honest, as distasteful as it may sound it was exhilarating; his first interview in the field. And he seemed to know a thing or two more than Baek-hyun about this topic, so he got to shine a little. But her parents were adamant about her job not being an issue here.
“Her channel is about arts and crafts, making things from scratch, baking and those kinds of things. The people who write her are kind. Sure, there are a some rude people, but most of them are so sweet”, Mrs. Cho said.
“What about a boyfriend, was she seeing anybody?”, Baek-hyun asked and looked at Sehun, as did her parents “Are you..?”
For the first time Sehun let go of his hands, and waved no.
“No, no. We’ve been friends since middle school, she’s like my sister. And jogging buddy. We go running a couple days a week, have dinner or coffee after. We were supposed to go yesterday evening, but she cancelled”, Sehun explained.
“When was that?” Baek-hyun recognized the sign of voluntary M.I.A. Sehun unlocked his phone and showed the caller log to Baek-hyun “17.12. We usually meet up around five thirty, so it’s odd that she cancelled with such little notice”.
“Did she say why, or sound different in any way?”
“No. She said it wasn’t anything special, she just had something to do. But when I asked her again she wouldn’t say. I was kinda annoyed, but now...” Sehun shrugged his shoulders and looked so hopeless he almost made Baek-hyun think something had happened to Min-young. But being the veteran he was he knew the majority of these cases ended happily - a lost phone, a drunken night, or a secret boyfriend - so he composed himself and gave them a smile.
“I know you’re all very worried right now, but trust me when I say we get a lot of calls like these, and it almost always ends up being some kind of misunderstanding. But we’ll follow up on these tips you’ve given us when we get back to the station, of course. Could we just have a quick look around the apartment, to see if anything seems amiss?”
                                           ¤¤¤
Having seen nothing suspicious in Min-young’s apartment they assured the Cho’s that they would call them the next day, and said their goodbyes.
“You did good up there, Jong-in”, Baek-hyun complimented his partner for the day. “What are your thoughts?”
“Thank you, Byu-Baek-hyun” Jong-in stuttered, making Bae-hyun laugh.”I feel bad for them. But like you said, they almost always come back. So...do we talk to her assistant, get phone records from Min-young’s cell provider?”
“Phone records takes more than...” Baek-hyun looked at his watch “than the two hours we have left. Let’s call the assistant, and you can run down locations of CCTV in the area”.
“To see when she left the apartment and which way she went…”
“We’ll take a closer look tomorrow morning if she’s still not back. So her friend, Oh Sehun…” Baek-hyun let the question hang in the air.
“Yeah. Do you usually see friends joining this early? He’s probably telling the truth, but…”
“But..?” Baek-hyun echoed for Jong-in to continue.
“Well, he was the last one to talk to her. And did she really not say anything to him?”
“Exactly. I don’t think he’s hurt her, but it’s possible - likely even - that he might know more than he’s telling. Remember what I said about catering to a different audience? Let’s do a quick background check and talk to him tomorrow. Maybe he’ll be more open when the girl’s parents aren’t around.”
Back at the station Jong-in started working on the CCTV footage while Baek-hyun went to update Jun-myeon.
“Hey, boss...”, he knocked on the frosted glass window, but didn’t wait for a reply before he opened the door. Jun-myeon was on the phone, but gestured for Baek-hyun to come in.
“...twisted baguettes, not ordinary ones, got it. Bye, love” he said, hung up and shared one of his life lessons with Baek-hyun “happy wife, happy life. Now, how’d it go?” Baek-hyun ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.
“As expected, I’d say. They were worried, but it hasn’t been that long. We’re gonna run down some leads they gave us before calling it a day”.
“Okay, sounds good. And Jong-in?”
“Yeah, he did good, boss. And he likes my girl”, Baek-hyun smiled.
“Ah, Byun-ah..!”, Jun-myeon exclaimed “That’s why you like him, ‘cus he likes your car..!”
Baek-hyun choked a smile “No, he’s good, honestly. But why does he get to be “Jong-in” while I’m still my surname?”, he asked, raising an eyebrow. Jun-myeon countered by raising both brows.
“Because I don’t want nine guys in my office every time I ask for Kim, is why he’s “Jong-in”...”. Baek-hyun clicked his tongue and pointed at Jun-myeon.
“Got it. Well, I’m gonna do some digging with the time I’ve got left”, he said and stood up.
“You’re a star player, Byun. Fighting!”, Jun-myeon said jokingly as Baek-hyun closed the door.
                                           ¤¤¤
Baek-hyun and Jong-in had punched out after checking off their list. There wasn’t much to see, really; the assistant, Michelle, hadn’t seen Min-young so she couldn’t offer much assistance, ironically enough. And as far as Sehun goes, he seemed to be harmless; no citations, no odd-ball photos or rants on the internet...just a guy. Nonetheless, Baek-hyun had begun to feel a touch uneasy about the whole thing, so after shutting the engine off in the driveway he called the precinct and asked the officer on the night shift to send a request for Min-young’s  phone records.
Better safe than sorry, he said to himself. Locking the car door was his queue to give his work mind a rest, and it wasn’t hard to do when he saw the note on his front door: 17.25 You have a houseguest, B!(Cover shift) It was signed with a winking smiley inside the O of the name “Veró”. Baek-hyun chuckled, spirits lifted. He had barely opened the door before a little corgi was upon him, tap-dancing around his feet with bright eyes. Baek-hyun put his blazer on a valet stand and bent down to greet his guest.
“Well, hi there, Mongi..! What are you doing here?” he said while playfully wrestling with the dog “Did you tell mommy to drop you of at the fun house?” He looked at his watch; an hour ago. “We might as well go out now, nugget. And then it’s dinner for the both of us - I’m famished!”.
With his parents living a couple of hours away, having Veró and Mongi was a real blessing to him. It’s not every day you meet someone you’re almost a hundred percent comfortable with; may it be in silence, changing clothes, physical interaction, crying or ugly laughing. Veró (short for Verónica) had moved in next door almost three years ago, and they instantly hit it off. Well, it wasn’t the right hit at first. They had dated for about four months when they both realized that they weren’t lovers’ material. The reason they felt exceedingly comfortable with each other was because they were best friends. They called it quits on the romantic part and now hung out as just friends; dinners, talks through the night, even sleepovers - and of course the semi-shared custody of Veró’s dog Mongi. Baek-hyun had fallen in love with him the first time he saw him, and insisted she name him Mongryong, but Veró was dead set on “Miguel”, a latin singer, or “the sun of Mexico” as she called him. They ended up having a marathon of games and soju to decide who would get the honours, and to Veró’s dismay Baek-hyun won, and the rest is history.
Since Veró left so late he knew she was covering for someone from the night shift and therefore didn’t expect her to be back until early morning at best, so after dinner they both curled up in bed: Mongi with a bone and Baek-hyun with the latest issue of Journal of Forensic Sciences.
“The things they can find out with forensics these days, Mongi, I tell ya...” Baek-hyun sighed, and Mongi looked at him, breathing heavily from his ferocious battle with the bone. “That’s right, pay attention, so you don’t go out in the streets acting like a fool.” He put the magazine on the nightstand as well as taking off his t-shirt before turning off the light - the queue for Mongi to curl up in the crook of Baek-hyun’s knees.
“Good night, nugget.”
APRIL 18th
Baek-hyun was the quintessential morning person, so when the alarm went off at 06.00 he immediately got up. The same could not be said about Mongi.
“Rise and shine, Mongi. Time to do some laps”, Baek-hyun cooed while putting on his sweats. But it would take the sound of food being prepared for Mongi to bounce out in to the kitchen.
“You try it every time, and I tell you every time: walk, then food.”
The air was chilly, a typical late spring morning, and there was an overcast hinting rain would come before long. He may not look it, but the dog was a top runner, so Baek-hyun could jog at a pace that made his heart rate go up a few notches, all the way down to the river, about twenty minutes away. He stopped by a drinking fountain, giving Mongi a few palms of water and splashed his face and water-combed his hair back. The clouds had lifted by the horizon, and the sunrise stained the clouds a yellowy apricot and Baek-hyun took it all in; these precious still and silent mornings were the favourite part of his day. He felt a tug on the leash, so he snapped out of it and they started back home for breakfast and a shower.
He wrapped a towel around his waist, draped a second one over his shoulders and made his way to the kitchen. A lot of Baek-hyun’s colleagues ate at work, but he preferred to have a quiet breakfast at home before all the hustle and bustle, so he sat down with his cup of black coffee and rye porridge. He was halfway through his meal when his phone rang, so his slippered feet shuffled to the bedroom:
“A call this early is never good, boss.” He sat down on the bed with a sinking feeling.
“Sorry, Byun. We’ve got a body, female. Under Pioneer’s Bridge. She hasn’t been identified, but…” Jun-myeon paused.
“You think it might be her.”

 Quests and Recruitment
Recruitment:
The Courier finds Cain in Freeside and simply approaches him at either the Caldera Motel or the street. They must be on good terms with the Gun Runners and not have joined the Legion. Upon talking to him, Cain asks the Courier for some help if they are willing to give it. He has been contracted to retrieve some confiscated caravan goods from raiders for a client. His partner has mysteriously disappeared and asks the Courier to be another gun.
Upon acceptance of the quest, Cain will make his way to his room in The Caldera (or if he’s there already) and start gearing up. All loot in this room is a [Steal] prompt. You can either follow him or meet him outside Freeside. Upon arrival at the start site, Cain makes conversation briefly about who The Courier is and who he is before setting out. The player follows him to a location where raiders have set up camp in a cave. After clearing them out, Cain finds his friend’s body with a scribbled note on top. It reads:
“They found me, the fuckers. They’re leaving me for dead. Gecks will get me, or the nightstalkers…damn. Saw some bandits around here earlier, I’m sure they’ll come for the caravan once they see the smoke. Shit, Cain, I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ll make it to the bar tonight. Tell the Runners that…”
The rest is smudged, as if the man was surprised. Cain is sad and says a few words over his friend’s body before turning to the Courier and heading back to Freeside after a brief conversation. He then offers to tag along since they worked well together, but he asks for five hundred caps. Merc’s fee, you know?
Personal Quest:
Upon gaining enough positive rep with Cain through various means (Includes positive interactions with NCR, kindness to children, mercenary work, etc.) and rep with the NCR, Cain approaches the Courier and asks for a favor. It deals with the caravan mystery that he had come across in the recruitment quest, and he seems to have a lead. One of the caravan hands that traveled with him on his first journey to the Sierra Nevadas was behind the attack on the caravan. Once accepted, Cain is visibly relieved and tells the Courier that he’s happy he has an ally for this one. The old associate is camped out in a parking garage just south of Primm, and upon reaching the destination, Cain asks the Courier to stay their hand if they find the man, at least for a little bit. They are met with raiders guarding the garage. Upon clearing them out, a small office is left, and the door unlocks. Out walks a man, who proceeds to try to hug Cain, who refuses. If the Courier is aggressive and angry in response, it will get Cain angry as well, and after some dialogue, Cain will shoot the man on the spot. If taking the softer approach, Cain gains through information that the man was forced by his employer to do the act…the very same employer who employed Cain. He explains that he must have wanted to hold the mercs in contempt and collect the fee for failure. Cain can also gain this information by reading the terminal in the office if he kills his friend.
Either way, the next stop is New Vegas, in an old office building outside the city. It seems this is where the businessman is based. You can go in guns blazing or take a stealthy approach. Either way, Cain will confront the man about the death of his friend and the man’s greed. The man is not remorseful in the slightest, and even if you convince Cain not to kill him, he will attack, and Cain will kill him in self-defense.
If you let the old associate live and kill the businessman, you will receive the “Practiced Hands” perk.
If you killed both of the men, you will receive the “Raising Cain” perk.
  Ending Slides
Personal Quest Unfinished: Cain continued working for various employers (regardless of their credibility) until a stray bullet ended up hitting his leg, which he eventually had to have amputated. Unable to work, Cain turned to drinking and became a regular at Freeside’s seedier establishments.
If the Courier sides with Legion and…
Completion ending 1: Cain never did understand why the Courier showed such kindness then sided with such monsters as the Legion. Overcome with a kind of sad resoluteness, he enlisted in the NCR Military, in the hopes that he would one day meet the Courier on the filed of battle and ask why. And if need be, put them down.
Completion ending 2: Cain was furious that the person that had helped him kill his enemies joined with the Legion to kill his friends. He immediately joined the NCR Military and would distinguish himself as a crack shot and a ruthless soldier. If he met the Courier in a firefight, that bastard would be dead before they could say ‘Traitor’.
If the Courier sides with NCR and…
Completion ending 1: Cain fully endorsed the Courier’s decision and would council them to keep trading relatively free to operate as usual. He knew all too well the dangers of bureaucracy. Whenever the Courier had a meeting to go to the NCR leadership, Cain was always there, giving helpful advice and keeping his friend safe.
Completion ending 2: Cain was all too happy to smoke some Legionnaires, and happily followed the Courier into every firefight. Every time there was a mission to infiltrate and secure camps or even hunt down patrols, Cain was the first to volunteer. He would eventually be known among the NCR troops as “Hurricane” Braun, laser-merc of the Mojave.
If the Courier sides with House and…
·        Completion ending 1: Cain knew that House was a big player in the Mojave, but when he saw what he was, the greed of House put a sour taste in his mouth. He would visit the Courier every now and then to talk and catch up, but he returned to guard-work and did quite well for himself.
·        Completion ending 2: Cain thought the Courier had been had but being a lackey for a lackey was nothing new to him. He continued his duty of guarding the Courier, and while he planned and plotted to kill the skeletal man in the tower for his greed, he never could.
If the Courier makes New Vegas independent and…
Completion ending 1: Cain knew that the NCR’s grip on New Vegas was weak, so when the Courier booted up the bots and seized control of New Vegas, he wasn’t all that surprised. Maybe a free New Vegas was good? And good it was. Trade blossomed, and Cain found himself on the elite council of guards and caravan masters who could usher in this new era of prosperity.
Completion ending 2: Cain wasn’t too thrilled about the bots taking over New Vegas, but he trusted the Courier with his life, so he stayed. Turns out a free city makes for crime, and while the bots could get most of it, Cain found himself in a position to be security detail for the Courier’s most personal assignments. It is said that a man in leather stalks the streets at night, looking for trouble…

How to Replace the Main Gear at a Garage Door Opener
It is 6:00 AM and you are leaving for work. You press on the garage door opener wall button and listen to a subtle hum from your electric motor but the door failed to maneuver. In case your garage doors springs are intact chances are you garage door openers primary drive equipment has neglected. You can easily inspect your drive gears by simply clipping your garage door opener and taking away the metallic cover. The primary drive gear is made from a white plastic which normally will be your weak link in the opener. Several things can cause this equipment to fail. Some causes of wear are:
O Garage door out of equilibrium (Springs busted or in need of modification ) O Chain to tight a o Old age o Excessive use or higher cycle o Factory flaw or lack of grease at time of fabrication
Fixing the white gear is a very low cost, fast and simple do it yourself repair as long as you've got a few simple hand tools and then adhere to the safety measures. These gears are available online in various degrees of components.
Before you get started It's important for You to Have a record of the few Straightforward tools needed to accomplish this job: O Hammer o Half inch wrench or adjustable wrench or pliers o 3/8" Socket or Nut Driver o 1/4" Socket or Nut Driver o 5/16" Socket or Nut Driver o Flat Standard Screwdriver o 5/32" Punch or comparable
~WARNING ~ To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or perhaps DEATH out of electrocution, ALWAYS Disconnect the power cable out of your garage door from the outlet prior to proceeding with any repair or inspection.
Tumblr media
Step #1 Ensure your garage door opener is currently unplugged. This step insures that nobody inadvertently tries to close or open the garage door when you are working in it or you don't inadvertently activate the door while servicing it.
Step #2 Disconnect the doorway from the outside trolley by dragging on the red disconnect rope and manually close the door.
CAUTION The Garage door MUST be in the completely closed position during all repairs and inspection.
Assuring that your garage door will be closed will guarantee that your door will not fall or make any movement that would lead to injury or direct you. We recommend that when the door is closed that you clamp the door down using a vise clamp or grip above one of these rollers to stop the door from being opened from the outside.
Step #3 Slacken the series or straps tension by losing the pressure nut on the garage door opener trolley. Typically that is nut and may be adjusted with a 1/2" wrench.
Step #4 Remove the sprocket or belt pulley retainer cap. Usually this has a clip on the back if you press in it will release.
Step #5 I always recommend marking the position of the chain or belt to the sprocket prior to removing. This can easily be done with white out, tape or any other means. This step helps assure that your chain or belt gets reinstalled in the correct position and makes for quick and easy reference if needed later. Remove the chain or belt from the sprocket and then slide the inner trolley to the closed position until it engages the outer trolley. Place loose chain/belt on the end of the rail closest to the sprocket. I typically duct tape the chain to prevent it from falling to the floor and getting all twisted and dirty.
Step #6 It is now time to remove both end covers and the main housing. The end cover are each attached by three or four 1/4" head screws that may be removed using a 1/4" nut driver or socket. Be sure to unplug the wire to the circuit board.
Step #7 Remove the retaining clip and the drive gear for the limits. Also at this time remove the limit switch assembly by squeezing the sides just below the bracket by the drive gears. There is no need to disconnect the wires as it is OK to leave this limit assembly hang by the wires. Do not make any adjustments to the limit assembly screws, this will insure that there is minimal adjustment needed to the limits after you complete your repair and run your garage door opener.
Step #8 Now its time to remove the RPM sensor this can be easily done by unplugging the wire harness and remove the RPM sensor from the securing tabs.
Step #9 Disconnect the red, blue and white wires from the motor. It is important that you note where these wires go. The same color wires go to the same terminals on the capacitor red/red and blue/blue.
Step #10 Remove the four 5/16" hex head screw that hold the motor into the frame of this garage door opener. Make sure you place your hand below the motor prior to removing the last screw to stop the motor from falling. Slide the motor rolling off the drive shaft and set in a secure place. (Not on top of the ladder for obvious reasons).
Step #11 Remove the three hex head screws holding the sprocket assembly to the major chassis employing a 5/16" nut driver or socket. Now it is time to decide if you want to replace the main gear only or the entire sprocket or all chain drive models 1984 to present.
Step #12 Skip this step if you are replacing the entire gear and sprocket or pulley assembly. If you are going to replace the drive gear support the driveshaft on a block of wood and drive the lower roll pin/Tension pin out with a 5/32" punch. See photo example below.
Step #13 Remove and replace the worm gear. Generally it is not necessary to substitute the worm gear unless it shows signs of wear. Should you would like to replace this equipment eliminate the rotating collar with a 1/8" hex wrench. Please be sure to note the location of each of these components as you disassemble so you can re-install in proper order. When you receive your gear kit, you will find there are parts not used in your model this is because these kits are universal and work with many models of Sears, Craftsman, Wayne Dalton, Master Mechanic, Liftmaster, True Value and other brands of garage doors openers. Only replace the parts that are used on your garage door opener. Remove the 3 nuts that hold the motor to the frame and then remove the worm gear. Install the new worm gear making sure the roll pin is properly seated in the new gear. Re-install other components in reverse order. After you complete this assembly I recommend you lube the worm gear so you do not forget.
Step #14 Begin reassembly in reverse order. Be sure to thoroughly lube the main drive gear and that grease is on each and every tooth. Attach the gear and sprocket or pulley assembly to the main chassis with the three 5/16" screws. Install the assembled motor framework to the chassis with the four 5/16" head screws and reattach the red, blue and white wires; now install the limit assembly and the limit drive gear making sure they mesh properly. You can now install the RPM sensor and reconnect wires. Install the metal cover and end panels, be sure to plug in the circuit board and reconnect photo eye and push button wires.
Step #15 Reconnect the power cord to the opener and cycle the opener until the sprocket completes a complete clockwise cycle. The trolley must be in the fully down position before installing the chain. Now you can remove the tape from the rail and reinstall the chain. The chain and sprocket reference mark should be close to lining up. Tighten the chain so that the chain is 1/2" over the bottom of the rail at midpoint for"T" style rails and 1/4" for square tube rails. Secure the chain tightening lock nut.
WARNING Note when adjusting and testing your garage door motor it is important to make sure no one is in the path of the moving door.
CAUTION It is important to know when testing your garage door opener it is possible to over cycle the motor and have the motor temporarily overheat and stop operating. To prevent this try and not operate the door opener more than 10 cycles without giving it 5-10 minutes to cool off
Step #16 Now run the opener and test to see if the door opens to the correct position and closes to the correct position. If you need to make adjustments use the travel adjustments screws to make fine adjustments. I recommend only making slight adjustments 1/4 turn or less at a time. For reference one full turn of the screw equals approx 2" of travel on 1/2 and 1/4 HP versions and 3" on 3/4 HP models.
Step #17 Once you have your doors travel adjustment correct it is time to adjust the force. This is the pressure that it takes to assure your door opener will operate safely. The first step in this process is to check the down force. With the door open simply activate the garage door opener and when the door reaches the half way point grasp the door from the bottom and try and stop it. If the door is hard to stop or does not stop decrease the down force adjustment in small increments until it reverse upon reasonable force. If the door does not close and the light begins to blink increase the down force adjustment in small increments until you can check the reversal at half way. Adjusting the force does not guarantee that your operator will reverse on 1-1/2" object at the floor. To learn more about adjusting the change at the floor find out the owner's manual or call the manufacturer.

Best Garage Door Openers In 2019
When you pull up out front, it’s really nice if you can roll right into the garage. If the sun’s beating down, you won’t want to leave the AC behind, and if the rain is pouring, you’ll want to stay dray. If only there were a way to make it happen right? Well, I had the same thought a few weeks ago, so I bought myself a garage door opener. I know what you’re thinking, it did take a little research to find the best one for me. But when I found it, the wait was worth it.
Tumblr media
To make things nice and simple for you, I’ve put together the notes I took when I was shopping around. That way you can read up on 15 of the best out there without lots of Googling. That’s Ideal if you want to make sure you get the perfect match first time out.
Best garage door opener.
Table of Contents Best Garage Door Openers App for Android 1. NEXX Garage NXG-100 Nxg Remote Compatible Door Openers Best Garage Door Openers Chain Drive 2. Genie Excelerator II 1500 1 HP Direct Screw Drive DC Garage Door Opener Best Garage Door Openers App For Android
1. NEXX Garage NXG-100 Nxg Remote Compatible Door Openers
The first entry on my list is something of an enigma. NEXX is the new kid on the block who’s mak-ing a lot of noise. Let’s see what I thought…
Stylish app control The app is nice and clean, plus it is super easy to install and setup. I like the white and green color scheme because it’s nice and positive. I’d also recommend that you make use of the multiple user login features (more on that a little later). All in all, from a software point of view I couldn’t fault it because it gave me everything I needed and nothing more. With no clutter or superfluous features, it was easy to get accustomed to.
Is voice control actually useful? This is something new for me if I’m honest, but I think it may just catch on in a big way. By having the capability to link up with control programs like Alexa or Siri, there’s a helpful degree of future proofing going on here. And that’s perfect if you love to link up your tech!
How about the encryption standards? When you can open your home remotely without a mechanical key, you need to be careful. I couldn’t find the specifics of the encryption standard, but from what I gather everything is in order. That said if you want to play it extra safe by all means contact the manufacturer. That way you’ll have the peace of mind that everything is taken care of.
Thinking about multiple users? Multiple users is a great feature, especially if you share your car. By having separate logins on each of your devices, you can even see who’s coming and going. That for me is a nice little-added security feature. It gives you the peace of mind that you know who is exiting and entering your home. Highly recommended for the tech lover looking to upgrade their home in the securest way possible.
Best Garage Door Openers Chain Drive
2. Chamberlain C410 Durable Chain Drive Garage Door Opener
These guys come with a big reputation for serious lifting power when it comes to garage doors. The chain drive mechanisms are known in the industry for reliability, but how does the user experience stack up?
Up to 1,500 ft of remote range is super long range! The first thing to say is that the range is insane. This makes it ideal for those with long drives or who live on surrounding land. You can click your remote, and then the door will do its thing. Perfect, if you want to avoid parking up and waiting for it to get out of the way. It should also mean that you don’t encounter any dead spots on your property where the reception dies.
Posi-lock security: what’s all the fuss about? This is an excellent feature because it gives you the peace of mind that your property is safe and secure. The unique mechanical locking mechanism is tamper-proof which means you can only open the door using your remote. Ideal for making sure that your new tech investment doesn’t compromise the security of your home.
How did I get on with the snaplock rail system The snaplock rail system is a smart way of ensuring you can easily install everything yourself. This keeps the costs down and means you can have everything working out of the box in an afternoon. With simple tension fits you’ll be able to fix everything in place in a matter of minutes. The instructions are simple and nicely worded which helps things too. If you do decide to install it yourself, you won’t need any specialist tools, but measure up beforehand. That way you’ll ensure you have the right opener for the task at hand.
Rugged chain drive design looks like it’s built to last The chain drive is what these guys are really known for. Similar to a bike chain but much more heavy duty, they have a hard life when you think about it. If you want to ensure you get the full use out of yours, then I suggest reading the maintenance section of the manual. With a few timely drops of oil every now and again you’ll extend the lifetime by years.
3. Chamberlain PD512 Garage Door Opener
The PD512 is perhaps one of the quietest running openers on my entire list. Here’s how they’ve mastered the art of getting the job done without all the whirring and grinding…
Chain drive that really is silent? How do they do it? The secret is the smooth running of the chain drive. When you install it, you’ll feel it flop around in your hand and you’ll wonder how it pulls so well. Well, it pulls so well precisely because of how free to move and flexible it is. By removing all those little bits of friction Chamberlain has taken efficiency and power transfer to the next level. I’m speechless!
Rolling code security is a clever solution I love the idea of a rolling security code. This means that every time you operate your door, a new access key is sent to your remote. To ensure intruders can’t clone your device and receive the new keys they’re also sent fully encrypted. This is the digital equivalent of having a front door whose lock and key change every time you use it!
Tri-band remotes offer unparalleled range and coverage This is very much the pinnacle of remote control technology. By extending the range and optimizing the coverage, it takes care of everything. The selection of frequencies it runs on ensures that outside interference from spurious signals is never an issue. For the real hardware nerds out there it would be nice to know which frequencies they use. I’m sure you could find out with a little digging deep in the manual if you’re desperate to know!
Built-in safety sensors for peace of mind The safety sensors that prevent the door lowering when something is in the way are essential. To protect pets and young children a beam of light is sent across the door. If it’s broken, then the door will open again. If you ever get to a situation where your door will suddenly not close and keeps opening then check the sensors. It’s not unknown for a little bit of debris to dirty one of them and confuse your new piece of safe-minded tech!
4. Chamberlain C450 Smartphone-Controlled Durable Chain Drive Garage Door Opener
I was curious to get my hands on the upgraded lifting system of the C450. Here are my thoughts folks….
The MED Lift power system has been making a real stir in the market The MED Lift power system has been marketed as a real breakthrough in terms of efficiency and power. What I really like is that it’s clearly been designed specifically for the task at hand. Too many companies take a standard motor, overwork it, and then wonder why they burn out too quickly. This gearing ratio and the HP are precisely what you need for the loads involved and the challenge of a rolling lift.
Steel chain drive is the pinnacle of efficient power transfer, but how hardwearing is it? The quality of their steel chain drives is what Chamberlain is known for more than anyone. They keep things simple with Teflon coated links that reduce friction, and the maintenance is easy to follow. With a couple of drops of oil every couple of months you’ll be able to add years to the lifetime of this thing!
Rolling encryption has billions of permutations and combinations The last few entries on my list have had this feature, and this one is no different. By offering literally billions of possible combinations, they are impossible to hack. This is perfect for adding something to your home that actually makes it even more secure. The fact that the access keys then change every time you use them only adds to the secure feeling. That is ideal for ensuring that an intruder can’t clone your remote and access your home whenever they want to.
Smartphone ready… There’s an element of future proofing here because all of the software and firmware is installed and waiting. There’s no obligation to use it if you prefer the old-fashioned approach. And I was glad to see that the manual didn’t try and force this new feature on you. A lot of people will want to get to grips with their new purchase before getting fancy and using apps. This back to basics approach that focused on the initial install was nice to see and put me at ease.
5. LiftMaster 1355 ( Replaced By 8065 ) Contractor Series 12 HP Chain Drive WO Rail Assembly
LiftMaster has a reputation for taking lower powered motors and getting a lot out of them. But how do they do it?
Only 0.5 HP so where does the pulling power come from? At only 0.5 HP you’ll be wondering how this thing even moves a door. Well, the secret is the efficiency and rigidity of the chain drive from what I can tell. It’s such an efficient way to transfer power from the motor to the door that you simply don’t need that much HP. Ideal if you want to install an inherently quiet motor that won’t be straining as much. It’ll also make it far less likely to fail on you.
Fast change encryption software is highly impressive This is a super cool feature. To prevent your encryption key being cloned it actually changes every time you open or close your door. A new access code is then sent in an encrypted form to your remote. Essentially what this means is that your lock and key change randomly every time you come or go. Now if that doesn’t scream ‘security’ at you, then I don’t what will folks!
4-year warranty is a nice way to kick things off, but why isn’t it lifetime? The 4-year warranty is a nice touch, but it’s only a year for parts. There a few entries on this list that give you a lifetime warranty on the motor in particular. I’d have liked to see a bit more coverage in this regard if I’m honest. That said if it doesn’t overly concern you then go ahead!
MyQ allows you to swap to app control at a later date App control is a nice idea because it means you can do away with carrying a standalone remote in your driver’s side door. If you want to future proof your setup then I’d suggest you convert over to it after you’ve had a couple of weeks to get used to your opener. That way you’ll have a feel for how it works, and you won’t be overwhelmed by the new tech.
Best Garage Door Openers Belt Drive
6. Chamberlain B503 Ultra-Quiet And Strong Belt Drive Garage Door Opener
The next entry on my list comes from the same guys, and it’s certainly worth paying attention to…
Can a garage door opener ever really be ‘ultra-quiet’? I think in this case…it can! With so much going on during operation, most garage door openers make a fair old noise. Because of the smoothness of the mechanism and how powerful the motor is that’s not the case here. You just hear a gentle whirring noise that pulls your door up in a couple of seconds. To be honest, you won’t be able to hear it above the sound of the engine running.
Tri-band technology: what’s the fuss about? Tri-band is awesome because it extends your range to over a thousand feet. That may sound like overkill, but it is ideal for large properties and for avoiding dead spots in reception. If you want a door that opens with a click, then I’d always look for this technology.
Protection against forced entry The posi-lock system that’s employed here is really secure. It protects against lock manipulation and lock forcing; two common ways burglars gain entry. This is ideal if you want to sleep with the peace of mind that your new piece of tech enhances your security. You’ll also see that the craftsmanship is right up there with the very best on the list. Brute force approaches just won’t cut it when intruders want to gain entry by force.
How useful are the online installation videos? Personally, I was a little dubious at first, but I have to say that I now rate them. The idea of installing it myself felt daunting, but it needn’t have. The tutorials are easy to digest and have natural pauses built in. That allows you to stop the video at a natural point, carry out the step, and then hit ‘play’ again. All in all, I have to say that this is a simple approach to DIY that other brands should take a look at. You’ll save time and money on hiring a contractor!
7. Genie SilentMax 1200 Garage Door Opener
What’s in a name? Well, with one like this I’d be a fool not to sit up and take notice, wouldn’t I? Here’s how I got on when I took a look at the fourth entry on my list…
What’s so good about a dual frequency remote? Now, this is something amazingly cool. The remotes work on 315 MHz, and 390 MHz at the same time. This is super important because occasionally one of these frequencies will be blocked. This then makes the remote control redundant, and your door stays firmly shut! The elegant dual frequency band remotes remove this issue forever. Perfect for ensuring you never fall victim to those annoying quirks that can take the shine off of any new purchase.
Pulls your garage door up to 7 feet high 7 feet is more than enough for most cars. If you need an extra foot of clearance for that shiny new SUV, then there’s an optional extension kit available too. The installation of said kit is just as easy as the main module and motor. That means, should you decide that you want more clearance in the future you’ll only have to do a couple of minutes of fiddling to get it.
The steel reinforced drive belt is something to seriously consider Rather than a chain, these guys have opted for a belt. The pro here is that the operation can be even quieter because you don’t have the same number of moving parts. The upkeep and maintenance of a belt is also less because you won’t need to run oil over every link. If you want a fit and forget option, then this could be it, my friend!
Smart Set Programming makes your life a lot easier I really like the Smart Set Programming that these guys have devised. Rather than having open and close buttons, they give you complete control. That means that you can also set the total height you want to raise your door. Not only does this speed things up, but it also reduces the strain on the motor. Run it for years, and you’ll notice the difference when you come to follow the servicing instructions.
8. Liftmaster Garage Door Openers
I hadn’t heard of this one if I’m honest, but I was intrigued nonetheless. Now that I’ve told you its name I bet you can’t wait to read about it!
Lightweight for ease of installation The entire package only weighs 6 lb which is excellent. That means that you don’t need to have any specialist mountings or fixtures to get it up on the ceiling. Your standard cordless drill driver will be more than enough to make the holes and secure it in place.
Simple to add to your existing setup which is nice! The versatility of the EverCharge is something I absolutely must comment on. None of the fixtures and fittings are hard to use or install. This means with some simple off the shelf additions you’ll be able to make it a universal fit. And that’s ideal if you want to be able to buy something and not overthink too much about how you’re going to integrate it. It also means you’ll be able to keep it should you upgrade the door itself in the coming years.
12 V battery is used during operation, a spare would be handy One thing to note is that while it is mains powered, there is a 12 V battery on board. With features like this, I often advise people that it’s worth keeping a spare. If they’re unused for a period of time batteries, do have a habit of failing to hold a charge. With a spare that you can pick up from any hardware store, you should be able to benefit from years of seamless operation.
Powerful enough to lift any type and style of door The power of the motor is unspecified from what I can see, but there are no restrictions on types of entry it can lift. This means that it really is the universal solution that it is touted as. I liked this approach because it means you can upgrade your door and your motor separately. Highly recommended if you want to maintain freedom and flexibility over the coming years.
9. 8500 Liftmaster Elite Series MyQ Enabled Garage Door Opener
LiftMaster really knows its stuff, so the 8500 was a no-brainer from my perspective. Like the catchy name? Then why not see how it got on when I put it through its paces?
200 W light is already built-in The 200 W light is really handy, and it’s something not a lot of people have thought about. When you run the motor, the light automatically comes on and illuminates your garage. This is ideal because it means you won’t have to stumble around trying to find the light switch when the door closes behind you. A nice little user-friendly touch that will make things that little bit easier!
6 ft power line for easy connection to mains The power line could always be longer, but that’s not something worthy of holding against it! At 6 ft long it’s more than long enough to reach any outlet nearby. Perfect for ensuring that you can get it up and running the same day it arrives without loads of trips to HomeDepot.
Signature Protector System is an impressive new piece of tech This is perhaps my favorite feature of any door on this list. The Protector System is ideal for those of you with pets and young kids. It shines a beam of light across the entrance of the door. If that light beam is broken at any point, then the door opens up again. This ensures you prevent serious crushing injuries that can be hard to foresee when you click ‘close’ on your remote. Highly recommended for peace of mind.
Lifetime motor warranty caught my eye! Finally, we come to a little mention of the motor. Well, what can I say; it’s certainly up to the task because it’s guaranteed for a lifetime. The gearing ratios and torque allow it to make short work of any lifting. This is perfect for ensuring that you can keep it running nicely as you upgrade your door over the years. It also means that it isn’t straining and struggling to get the job done.
10. Chamberlain B970 Smartphone-Controlled Ultra-Quiet And Strong Belt Drive Garage Door Opener
Another entry from these folks is next on the agenda. The B970 promised big things when it arrived on the market. But a few months on from that debut has it really shown us what it is capable of? Time to take a look, guys!
Onboard battery could be a real lifesaver I really like the idea of the onboard 12 V battery. While it derives the bulk of its power from the mains this creates an issue during power outs. If your home is knocked off the grid for a few hours, then you may not be able to park your car. That could be a particularly severe problem if you don’t have a drive or on-street parking. With reserve power always on standby, you’ll be able to get your car inside safe and sound. A totally great feature that I wish more openers had.
Smartphone operation could be the way of the future The operation via smartphone is something that has divided a lot of people. On the one hand, you have those who don’t care about doing everything from their phones. On the other, you have people who are glad they no longer have to keep a standalone remote safe. I’d say I fall into the latter category because it can be all too easy to lose those little things. You’re never going to lose your phone, so this is a big step forward in my opinion. A highly recommended feature, one that will do more than appeal to the hardcore gadget or tech lovers out there.
1.25 HP is some serious pulling power if you ask me! When you can quote the power of your motor in Horse Power then you know you’re looking at a real beast! Because of the torque exerted by the drive, you’ll be able to open any door with minimal effort. This is great because it means Chamberlain haven’t had to resort to overworking an underpowered motor. Ideal if you want the reliable and quiet operation that will last for years and years. Highly recommended for those looking for an install and forget solution.
11. Chamberlain B730WD962 Garage Door Opener
The WD962 is marketed to single garage doors which means it is a little less high powered than some of the others on this list. Let’s see how this restriction played out when it was put through a close examination.
0.75 HP: could you be left wanting more? There is a little less power when compared to the previous entry on this list; there’s no getting away from that. However, to criticise it for that kind of misses the point. The issue is not how hard it can pull, but how well it pulls what it is designed to pull. The operation is quiet and efficient, and if you want to lift a double door, then you are better off with something else. Simple!
MyQ enabled so what is all the fuss about? This is a very neat piece of integrated tech that is ready and waiting. By future proofing with embedded voice control capability, Chamberlain is keeping your options open for years to come. This is a great way to approach it because it doesn’t force the issue when you don’t feel ready to adopt voice control.
Two remotes included makes it ideal for multiple users It’s nice to have two remotes rather than the solitary little one that so many openers come with. This means you can have one each, or keep a spare should yours fail. It would be nice if you could assign the remotes to a specific user to see who is coming and going. That said they are ergonomic and hard to lose which is all you really need at the end of the day isn’t it!
Automatic timed closing I like this feature because it makes things that little bit easier. When you drive in you sometimes don’t want to have to wait for your door, you just want to walk straight into your home. By setting it to auto close after 1, 5, or even 10 minutes, you should be able to wander in without waiting around. You may want to stand and check it comes down the first couple of times for peace of mind. I have no reason to think it won’t; it’s just playing it, safe my friend!
12. Genie PowerLift Garage Door Opener
With a name like the PowerLift, how could I not sit up and take notice! Let’s delve right in, and you can see for yourself whether it’s a winner!
The Safe-T beam system is the smart approach to garage door safety The Safe-T beam system gets around the potential issue of crushing injuries. This is especially important for those households with pets and young children. There’s a beam of collimated light shone between two sensors at the base of the door. If for any reason this light is blocked by something in the way while the door is moving it will halt and fully open. Ideal for the peace of mind that you have everything taken care of.
The wall console is easy to use and nicely laid out I like the wall console because it lights up during operation. This is especially handy if you’re leaving early in the morning before the sun is up or returning late at night. You can wall mount it away from the power outlet which is also a nice touch. That gives you the freedom to pick a safe and convenient spot.
Up to 500 lb of lifting power While it only has 0.5 HP, it uses it very efficiently. This means it can lift 500 pounds with no issues and minimal noise. More than enough to get the vast majority of garage doors up and out of the way. Be sure to check your intended or existing model of door with the manufacturer. That way you won’t be disappointed in case your opener struggles a little bit.
C-channel rail is easy to install Installing it yourself is what Genie are all about because they want to make things simple enough that you can do it yourself. This saves you time and money on a contractor, and its kind of fun if you’re that way inclined like me! Their C-rail system is really easy and is nicely documented in the manual. I’m yet to find any videos though which would have been nice.
13. Chamberlain WD1000WF Garage Door Opener
The name may be a bit of a mouthful, but this is an opener with a big reputation. It has a lot to live up to given the success of its predecessors, but that didn’t dampen my expectations. Take a look for yourself and see what you think…
MyQ comes as standard which is a nice touch MyQ is, in my opinion, the way of the future if you ask me. The idea of being able to open your door as you pull up with just your voice is elegant and neat. However, I would suggest waiting a couple of weeks before you install it if you’re new to voice control. You want to ensure that you trust the operation of the door before you get fancy with it. It’ll also ensure you can still open it in case it has an issue hearing your voice above your car’s engine noise.
LCD panel on the wall is the way of the future The LCD panel is a definite upgrade on the old style keypads that you’ll have seen earlier on this list. With a screen that shows you the status and options in the blink of an eye, you’ll have everything you need. I also like how it’s backlit. It just makes it that little bit more user-friendly, especially in the darker months.
Up to 1.25 of HP, but does it create too much noise? There’s a lot of horsepower on show here, but it is actually surprisingly quiet to be fair. It will always have a little more inherent noise than some of the smaller motors, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. By being more than strong enough to lift any door on the market with ease it should have a longer lifetime than most. If you want something that will keep on lifting with minimal maintenance, then I’d suggest a closer look. Even if the noise bothers you a little, it’s not like the motor will be running for more than a few seconds a day!
14. Craftsman 12 Hp Garage Door Opener
This is a new name in the industry to me at least, so I was intrigued to see how it stacked up. See what you think folks because I may have left one of the best ones in the place fourthteen!
A new name on the block; can you rely on them? I think you certainly can! Name recognition is one thing, but build quality, and the thinking that goes into a design is another. They have clearly put a lot of thought into how they’re going to put their products together. This is refreshingly nice to see, and from the build quality of the fixtures, I can tell you it will be simple to install.
Infrared reversing sensors are a clever addition I love that the sensors are placed at multiple heights. The ones near the bottom help protect your kids and pets from running in and out of the garage. While the ones nearer the top protect your car. If you mistakenly start to reverse and forget that it is lowering, then it’ll automatically stop. Ideal for those little user-friendly touches that make all the difference.
75 W may be left in the shade by others, but is it enough? 75 W is almost a third lower than some of the 200 W options on my list, but it should do the job. It won’t illuminate your entire garage like daytime sunlight, but you’ll still be able to see clearly. By being able to make it safely from your car to the exit door into your home, it gives you a safe user experience. This is just another reason why I said that they’ve clearly invested a lot of thought into getting the little things right.
Security+ coding is very well thought out The final thing I want to tell you about is the Security+ coding these guys have developed. I like that it auto updates every time you use the door. That will prevent cloned remotes from being able to open your home when you’re out. The encryption standard isn’t detailed, which is probably for security reasons, but I’d like to know more about it. I’m sure the manufacturer would outline the principle of how it works if you need further details for insurance purposes.
15. Genie Excelerator II 1500 1 HP Direct Screw Drive DC Garage Door Opener
And so we make it to the final entry on my list. You never know, I may have left the best till last! Just remember folks there are no rankings here, just 15 of the best for your consideration…
Direct drive motor saves a lot of wasted effort If you listen to the sound of this motor, you’ll be pleasantly surprised because it gives out a gentle, quiet hum. That doesn’t mean that it lacks power, but that it uses what it has with little wastage. The direct drive motor eliminates a lot of unnecessary couplers and moving parts where energy is lost. This then results in a quiet and efficient lift. Nicely executed!
I like the installation poster because it’s so easy to read The idea of an installation poster is a new one for me, but it totally made all the difference. The installation is simple enough that you can do it yourself and save time and money on contractors. With large diagrams and plenty of descriptions, the poster talks you through everything step by step. Plus because you can wall mount it if you’re not bending over trying to see what the next step is. Ideal if you want to get your new gadget up and running straight out of the box with no fuss!
Want to know more about Homelink? Some cars now come with remotes built in which is an interesting development. The upside of this approach is that it means you can never lose your remote. The Excelerator II fully supports Home-link which means you should be able to deploy it without issues. Be prepared to fiddle with it a little bit because each model of car will be a little different. To be fair, there’s not a whole lot the guys at Genie can do about that, but they do provide a dedicated manual.
Is it really maintenance free?Maintenance is something you expect at every moment, so this is a bold claim. The idea they have is that it is self-lubricating and enclosed which should keep the dirt and grime out. If you’re ever in any doubt, then I suggest contacting the manufacturer direct. They seem very helpful and more than willing to point customers in the right direction. Get in touch and show them what you’re hearing with a quick sound recording.

New Post has been published on https://a1garagedoors.ca/high-tech-garage-door-openers-repair-pros-cons/
High-Tech Garage Door Openers repair: pros and cons
Tumblr media
High-Tech Garage Door Openers repair – We live in a world where technology is heavily used and so advanced to the point that anything can be automated.
The possibilities are endless. Before, we used to manually open and close our garage doors to be able to enter and exit our garages.
But at this point in time, high-tech garage door openers save us from the hassle of doing these.
If you are still not convinced with this innovation, look into its advantages, and see the benefits of having automated high-tech garage doors.
What are its pros?
Technology today has really helped us, humans, in our daily lives.
Just like the high-tech garage door openers, technology made developments to make us more efficient.
Having an automatic garage door is beneficial because it is:
Simple
Safe
Secured
Affordable
It is simple to use
As easy as pushing a button, your garage doors roll up or down the rails, and you can just focus more on driving.
By not needing to do this task yourself, you save time and energy that you can put into much more essential duties.
This type of machinery promotes efficiency.
It promotes your well-being
Opening and closing the gates of the garage can be tiring.
It can cause you to have back pains or shoulder pains when doing so.
Now, having an automatic garage door will prevent you from having these unnecessary pains and injuries.
Your house is much more secured
High-tech garage doors have better security features than the usual typical old garage doors.
Most of the automatic garage doors have a built-in mechanical digital lock that you can put in keycodes for added security for your home.
It is affordable
Most of the time, when we think of technology, we usually assume that it is expensive and will cost much more compared to other options.
But in contrast to this belief, automatic doors offer better deals.
With the extra cost of these comes convenience, safety, and security.
What are the cons?
Nothing is perfect. All good things have flaws and disadvantages.
Despite having all the pros, you should consider these other factors before getting an automatic garage door opener.
Take note that:
High-tech garage doors have additional costs.
It needs to be maintained and might need repairs in the future.
It is dependent on electricity.
There are additional costs
For some people, these additional costs can break the bank.
High-tech garage doors require professional installation into your garage.
It is highly suggested that you should not do this on your own, and it would be best to hire someone to do it for you.
Also, because it is automatic, it needs a source of power.
This house fixture will add costs to your electricity bill.
Buying spare or replacement parts for the garage door is also an added expense.
In case it breaks down, you would have to replace parts for it to work again.
It is not maintenance-free
It needs to be maintained. Since there are many components and mechanisms involved to make the garage door high-tech and automatic, there are also many pieces that can be damaged.
However, most of the possible damage that a door opener can sustain is easily repairable and can be done by yourself.
There are also automatic doors requiring regular maintenance but are not essentially categorized as a piece of high maintenance equipment.
Garage doors made out of steel is a good option for a low maintenance high-tech automatic garage door.
It needs power
This type of garage door needs electrical power to work.
This requirement can be an issue when you experience brown-outs and electricity outages.
When this happens, you will not be able to use the door opener, but you can switch it to manual mode and still be able to open and close your garage door.
If you are looking into repairing and upgrading your garage doors into an automatic one in Mississauga, Oshawa, Vaughan, and Woodbridge, consider these pros and cons.
Repairs for the automated garage doors can be a hassle and not free of costs, but it may still be worth it despite these.
Always choose the option that would be best for you.
