In Mexico they say a lot "October 2nd is not forgotten"
quick context
Well, here in Mexico, October 2nd is an event, one could say that it is historic
It is basically the day the Tlatelolco massacre occurred
the day one of our asshole presidents/government decided it was a very good idea to "silence" some students who were doing a peaceful protest If you didn't understand, he basically ordered to kill them
i want to writhe a little one-shot on the dpxdc fandom in honor of all the victims of Tlatelolco, but... i don't know if its morally okay or if its gonna be super dark.
And why i want to write something? because of all the similarities that there is:
-Legal genocide made/attempted by government agents wearing withe.
-Reports of ghosts, gohuls, polisters and paranormal activity associated to that tragical event.
-Laws and acts being made after that.
-Outside media didn't know about it after the Olympics when a Mexican movie related it and all the people involved in that movie had to run away from the government. (the movie only was on theaters like 1 afternoon on international boxers because it was just THAT explicit... i mean it have real audio records of that day so...)
-You can hear the screams and see apparitions of the students who died that day.
Againg i dont know if i should make it or no... neither I know if I should tagg since is just a little etical ask, but if you are interested on the event search 2 de octubre 1968 (or the movie... its called rojo amanecer. In english is translated as red sunrise or crimson sunrise) So if you semm that should not be tagged I would gladly delete this... but yea... I'm a little to new on how to interact on tumblr so sorry.
Tantas fases, tantas emociones, gracias, gracias, gracias.
Today we in Mexico remember the lives lost the 2nd day of October 1968
To summarize for those who don't know: students had been peacefully protesting against the corrupt government of Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, around the same time the Olympic Games were going to be hosted in México, to not let people of other countries see these protests, he decided to silence them by sending the military against them, committing one of the biggest massacres in Mexican history.
The exact number of students and bystanders who were killed is unknown, as the news of the time did not report what occurred and the bodies were hidden in nameless mass graves. However, we will never forget, we should never forget what occurred that day, we shall remember the protestors as what they were: brave people who were silenced for fighting for what is right.
This text is a very TL;DR version of what occurred, but I felt like I had to make my own post about it.
Today you can go to a mini spring vacation to a particular zone of Mexico City: la Plaza de las Tres Culturas.
This guided tour by CyArk, takes you through the architectural styles and the long and rather violent history: from the Spanish conquest, to the 1968 students movement, to the earthquakes and the restoration of the cultural significance of this place.
So, click the link and stand in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, surrounded pre-columbian, colonial, and modern architecture. The tour guides speak in Spanish but everything has English and Spanish subtitles, and there's not only historians and guides, but testimonies from survivors of the Tlatelolco Massacre.
There are also several online resources to learn more, at the end of the tour.
Summary: *vaguely gestures with her hands* yeah. Legend and Twilight go fishing!!!
Comments: this is the hill I will die on. Please I beg you to try change my mind because I want to throw hands (friendly) at whoever thinks the opposite. Let's Have A Talk (:
