oh baby baby Wallis had the best taste in everything. Dean calls it the "Barbie car" but in, like, an envious way. this is a certified "long boi" and it takes you half a day to walk from one end to the other. I could never parallel park this thing OR take it on a highway, but I would cruise around with no seatbelt and have a grand time

so Young Dean still ends up in a Chevy, but it doesn't have quite the style of the Impala. this wood-paneled station wagon looks like the kind of car families other than your own had. I felt really bad about having Young Dean get by in this for so many years but it also made me laugh whenever I pictured it

Bobby let Dean take a car from his lot. It wouldn’t have been Dean’s first choice, but the 1986 Chevy Celebrity—a station wagon complete with a woodgrain exterior and cream-coloured paint—at least had all its parts attached and, quite importantly, the radio worked just fine. The velour upholstery smelled like cigarettes and he drove most of the way with his window cracked open despite the cool weather. (the rules have changed today)

this is lowest on the list because it's a gas guzzler AND it doesn't have the moxie of something like Wallis' car, but I'm convinced that Dean doesn't have snow tires for Baby and wouldn't take her over the pothole-covered Wyoming mountain roads. it was serviceable for their trip, but you'll catch me in something small and peppy

They moved their gear from Baby’s trunk into a year-old Ford Expedition from a rental place. Leather seats that smelled new and had likely never hauled an enemy demon or a corpse of any kind. Dean’s mouth twisted in disgust at the screen that lit up in the centre of the console with a Winter Weather Driving Tip, meanwhile Young Dean leaned forward to look at it with wonder. Supernatural Star Jensen Ackles Is Ready for What's Next. Are You?

Jensen Ackles’ Supernatural journey began and ended with a road trip.

15 years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki and Ackles, respectively), began their drive across the country in a jet black 1967 Chevy Impala, hunting monsters, demons, and, eventually, God himself. Ackles was 26 years old at the time (the same age as the James Dean-like figure he portrays on the CW series), single, and coming off a steady career on TV, including a popular role on Days of Our Lives.

The actor is now 42 years old and just finished filming the 15th and final season of Supernatural after the coronavirus pandemic shut down production for several months. To mark the occasion, he did what Dean would do: He took a road trip. But this time things looked a little different and not just because he lacked monster-killing weapons and the iconic Impala.

“It was a sprinter van,” he tells me, back at home in Austin, Texas, after driving to the East Coast with his wife, One Tree Hill actor Danneel Harris Ackles, and their three young children. And instead of fighting the forces of evil along the way, he questioned what life might look like without the show that's been a vital part of his identity for a decade and a half.

“I needed to get back home and start figuring things out and start unpacking my life that's been in Vancouver for 15 years," he says. "'What's the next move? Where am I headed next? What interviews am I going to do?' Luckily, my wife was like, ‘Stop. Can you just take a breath for a minute and play with your kids on the beach?’”

So he did. But now he’s back, talking to me over Zoom with his new, prized commissioned drawing of Winchester brothers’ smashed up Impala behind him (a gift from his wife by artist Alessandro Paglia), trying to put into words what it feels like to leave behind a 15-year legacy.

“How have you changed in the last 15 years?” he asks me. Well, I've watched a lot of Supernatural, to be honest.

Existentialism aside, Ackles is clearly ready for his next act—even if the show's massive, fervent fandom—known as the SPN Family—may not be. Back in March 2019, Ackles, Padalecki, and their co-star Misha Collins devastated die-hards when they announced they'd be ending the series on their own terms after more than 300 episodes. A bit of good news is that fans will still have the conventions that honor the show and cast meet-ups that take place all over the world. Eventually.

"I love how big it's gotten and how we feel like a traveling circus going from town to town,” Ackles says. "Obviously, we'll have to wait until we're all allowed to gather in large crowds again, but I think as soon as we can start going to concerts and festivals and movie theaters, we'll start those back."

For now, Ackles is preparing for his life beyond Dean Winchester, which includes his anticipated role as the first-ever superhero in season 3 of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys, as well as a new production company he's starting with his wife. Over Zoom, he filled me in on all that, how the Supernatural finale changed due to COVID-19 restrictions, and, of course, that iconic 1967 Chevy Impala—which he drove to Starbucks the morning of our call.

Glamour: I almost don't know how to ask you how it feels to end a life-changing, 15-year project like Supernatural if I’m being honest.

Jensen Ackles: I understand how rare it is and that it's a bit of a unicorn to have a show that runs this long and to be as intensely part of it as I have. I mean, you've got procedural dramas—you know, Law & Order and stuff—but a lot of those casts come and go. To have the same two leads in every single episode for 15 years, I think is a pretty rare feat. So I'm proud that we did it. That was really the overwhelming feeling when we filmed our last day and our last scene, it wasn't a mourning process. It was more of a proud moment of, look at what we've done.

Obviously, the finale of Supernatural was already planned before COVID hit. Did anything in the last two episodes have to change because of filming restrictions?

We had to drop some ideas we had for the final episode, but it didn't change the story. We were supposed to have a lot of familiar faces come back and we were going to try to filter them into a montage. It was going to be almost a break from the story and a look at how far we've come—a little tip of the hat to the fans—and we would all be able to celebrate together. Obviously, we couldn't do that. So that part of the finale episode got nixed. But the story and how it ends up, that stayed the same.

You’ve been talking about wanting Dean’s Chevy Impala, Baby, for literally years now. Did you get it?

I've wanted it since the second episode. I was like, ‘Wait a second. What's going to happen to this car when it's over?' I've been angling to get that car since literally season one. I was thinking, why wouldn't they give me the car?

Then as the years went on, I thought, Oh, I'm gonna have to fight for this now. So I kept seeing if I could put it in my contract, like for years and years, and the studio, the producers were like, ‘Don't worry, don't worry about it.’ Wink. I was like, ‘Yeah, you say that now.’ So, in my last contract that we had, I didn’t ask for a bigger trailer, I didn’t ask for more money or more time off or anything. I said, ‘I want the car.’

That car is sitting about 40 feet from me and my garage. I actually drove it to Starbucks this morning and picked up some coffee.

Your wife, Danneel, has been appearing on Supernatural since season 13. Do you two have any plans to continue acting together?

We've got a company now, Chaos Machine, and we're starting to produce things together. So it'll be a more of a producing team as opposed to an on-camera duo. That’s the thing with this industry...you never know where the roads may lead or what’s just around the corner. But she and I love that. And we certainly love a challenge.

You two already run a brewery, Family Business Beer Company, together while raising a 7-year-old and 3-year-old twins. How do you work together as husband and wife vs. as business partners?

Very similarly actually. Divide and conquer.

Speaking of behind-the-scenes roles...you’ve directed five episodes of Supernatural. Any plans to direct Jared Padalecki's new show, Walker?

I would absolutely love to, but with my new gig on The Boys, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to. We're trying to figure out scheduling.

They're in the midst right now of building my costume for The Boys, which is a custom-built, superhero suit. That is way more intense than I anticipated, which is cool. But I have to literally be in LA like every two weeks for the next three months. I think it's six fittings and they're each like three to four-hour fittings. They're literally molding things to my body, so it's intense.

What will be on your playlist for you to listen to while they mold things to your body?

Actually, funny enough, that was the first thing they asked me. Laura Jean Shannon, the costume designer, she says this is important because every superhero [she’s worked on] has a type of music. So she was like, “what would Soldier Boy listen to?”

To be fair, the first time we see him, it's World War II. So we're talking the ‘40s. So we listened to big band and swing the whole first day.

In addition to your new projects, you’ve also been posting a lot about Black Lives Matter this summer—from handing out supplies at a protest to giving over your social media accounts to Black activists and politicians. What have you learned?

Looking at my kids and being a father, I’m thinking, Wow, what kind of world are they gonna have? So I've started to listen a little more and I've started to want to understand other people's experiences so that I can make a better choice about the actions I take. I've gotten pushback—[in the past] even I've looked at actors using their platform to be political and been like, ‘You know, nobody needs to hear that. Just do your movies and do your show. You're not a politician.'

But I've now learned that no, you've been given a platform now with social media. And even before that, when you would give an interview to a publication, there's a voice there that is yours and you get to choose how you use that. And I think that's a responsibility that people need to take seriously. So I’ve tried to do it as inclusively as possible.

Before I let you go, please tell me what fans can expect from the final episodes?

I've said a few times that the second to last episode really feels like the season finale and that the final episode feels like a series finale. The series finale, episode 20, is this beautiful throwback to the whole show—to what it was, what it has been, and what it is today.

Okay, one more! What’s the creepiest thing that’s happened to you on set, in honor of spooky season?

Anything that's kind of been paranormal or supernatural? I think that they stay away. If that stuff was to happen, it's not going to happen on our set because we've got too many tools to take them down.

Never Saw Blue Like That Before

Summary: With Michael gone from the far reaches of Dean’s mind, Cas decides to tell his best friend - the man he rose from hell - his true feelings. He’s been in love with him for years and he’s pretty sure Dean feels the same way. Dean does, but being Dean, his first instinct is to push the man he loves away.

Pairing: Destiel

Few things were certain.

One certainty is that they would be fighting forever. And the other was Cas’ longtime feelings for the man he raised from hell. Michael was gone, cast out from Dean - for now. But there were no guarantees.

Cas swallowed the lump in his throat and knocked steadily on the door to Dean’s room. When he opened it, Dean shuttered slightly, as if he hadn’t expected Cas to be there. “Cas,” he said, voice soft and low. “What’s up?” He injected a levity into his voice that was unnatural and they both knew it.

“Can I come in?” Cas asked, not waiting for an answer.

A small huff of laughter escaped Dean’s lips. “Yea, sure.”

“Are you feeling okay?” Cas questioned. Quite the stupid question all things considering, but he couldn’t get the other words to come out yet.

“Well, Michael vacated my meat suit and I have no freakin’ idea why. He’s still out there. And I have no idea what he’s planning on next, so you know, could be better.” He had his hands on his hips, his lip trembling as he tried so hard to control the myriad of thoughts rolling through his head.

For a moment, Dean glanced up, chancing a look at one of the two people he trusted most in the world. In all his years, all the people he’d met, all the things he’d seen, there’d never been a feeling closer to peace than when he’d looked in the angel’s eyes.

Taking a deep breath, Cas forced the words out. “Dean, there’s something you need to know. When you let Michael in, I was so afraid I’d never get the chance to say it, so I’m saying it now regardless of the consequences. I...love you.”

“Yea, I know you do, Cas,” Dean said, immediately on the defensive. He turned away a degree, hoping to hide himself from the angel, but after 10 years, he was wise to Dean’s mannerisms.

Cas reached for Dean’s arm and yanked him back to face him. “No, not just as my best friend. Not just as the man I raised from hell. I-”

“No, no, no, no.” Dean mumbled to himself as he began to pace around the room. This couldn’t be happening. Of course, he loved Cas, he could barely remember a time when he didn’t, but... “Cas, you’re just glad I’m okay, that’s all this is.”

“No it isn’t!” The angel replied, his voice rising ever so slightly. He assumed Sam was still out of the bunker, but if he wasn’t Cas didn’t want to grab his attention. “Dean, that is not what this is. This has been sitting in my head for years. Every time I thought about saying something, another apocalypse was on the horizon or another monster needed to be slain, but that’s our lives and I couldn’t live anymore without getting it out of me.”

Dean bellowed, “Save me the sob story, Cas!” He combed his hands through his hair, still flecked with dirt and grime. The seraph flinched, taking a step back. Cas had no idea what he was saying. “We can’t! Not now, not ever!”

Before Cas could say or do anything, try and salvage whatever it was that they had, Dean barreled out of his room and out of the bunker, leaving Cas distraught and the nearby Sam saddened at his brother’s trademark stubbornness.

It was a dream. That much he knew. But he didn’t care. All Dean cared about was the slight breeze that came off the lake, the fishing pole in his hand and the sudden coolness at his back - the angel that permeated his dreams. “Hey Cas,” he said softly. “Why are you here?” It’s not what he wanted to say. What he wanted to say was ‘stay here’ and ‘let’s not move ever again,’ because this was perfect.

But cowardice always won out. Put a knife in his hand and a demon at his back and he’d tackle that head on. But he couldn’t say those few simple words when the angel was near.

“I have something I need to tell you,” Cas replied. There was so much he needed to say. How much humanity had already changed him. How much Dean had changed him and made him better. But that wasn’t why he was here. “We need to meet somewhere safe.”

Dean’s lip curved upward into a smile, the irony apparent. “Cas, we’re in my head.”

“And if I can be here, nothing says someone else can’t be here.” After handing Dean the paper, fingers brushing against the calloused skin of Dean’s right hand, Cas left - every word he wanted to say bottled up in the back of his mind for whenever the time was right.

Leaned up against the Impala with a beer in his hand should’ve left Dean content, but with Sam in the pit and no conceivable way to get him out, Dean was lost. He tipped the bottle to his lips and took a swig when the familiar flap of Cas’ wings sounded behind him. “Hey, Cas.”

“Hello, Dean.” He wanted to ask how he was, but he knew the answer. And he also wanted to say so much, but with Dean in pain it didn’t seem right to complicate things. “Why are you out here alone?”

Dean dipped down to the cooler next to him and popped a bottle open for Cas. “I’m not alone. Just needed to breathe. I was in a similar field like this with Sam when we were kids. We set off fireworks even though Dad would’ve been pissed. It was one of the best days of my life.”

“We’ll get him back, Dean.” If it killed him, he’d get Sam back for the man he loved. “I promise.”

“I know,” Dean replied. They would find a way, but he wasn’t about to lose Bobby or Cas in the process. “You didn’t have to check in on me, you know.”

Cas drank the bitter liquid and smiled, his face hidden in the shadows of the night. “I wanted to.”

As Cas followed behind Dean and the vampire, he pushed Dean’s protestations out of his mind. ‘I’m not leaving you behind. You'll get through.’

He wouldn’t. Deep down, Cas knew that the wormhole out of Purgatory wouldn’t allow him out. Dean was a human. Purgatory wanted him gone; it was desperate to spit him out. But Cas was an angel - a monster like any other. After all he’d done in heaven and on earth, he deserved to stay here with the rest of the world’s monsters.

“There it is,” Benny pointed out, the blue wormhole in the distance teeming with life and possibilities for anyone that managed to pass through it.

Before him, Dean and Benny conducted the ritual so that Dean could carry his new friend through the portal. “Alright, Cas, come on.”

Reluctantly, he stepped forward, only to have his attention turned backward when the leviathan landed just paces away. He hurried his friend toward the portal, ready to push him through alone at any moment.

Dean stepped into the swirling blue light, ready to do anything necessary to bring Cas through with him, but the angel saw the situation for what it was - an untimely death for them both.

“Go!” Cas screamed, pushing Dean through the portal.

After all that had transpired between them, all the ways he had let Dean down, the least he could do was get him back to his brother. With or without him.

A stark white blinded Dean’s eyes when the blade pierced through Cas’ chest, his eyes burning bright before the light went out.

He’d screamed himself raw that night, cursing Chuck, Lucifer, and the world as a whole for taking Cas away from him. When Cas was stabbed, Dean lost a part of himself, his heart disappearing into a black hole. He used to believe that losses were part of the job, but after losing Cas, he couldn’t make sense of it anymore.

The sharp ring of his phone jarred him awake, his head knocking against the glass. “You okay?” Sam asked.

No. “Yea, I’m fine,” Dean replied, lifting the phone to his ear. “Hello?”

A familiar voice told him to turn down the next block and although everything in him was telling him this was impossible, a trick, or just something too good to be true, he forced Sam to turn down the street without any explanation. “What is it?” Sam asked. “Dean, what’s happening?”

“I don’t know,” he said honestly. If there was even the smallest chance, Dean was going to take it, no matter the risk of disappointment.

Near a payphone halfway down the block, the silhouetted figure of the trenchcoat-wearing angel caught the brothers’ eyes. Sam slammed on the brakes. “Cas?”

Sam immediately gathered the angel into his embrace, while the older stared through glassy eyes, afraid to believe them. “Cas,” he breathed as he held onto his angel for dear life. There was so much he needed to say. He wanted to tell him that when the light in his eyes went out, his own heart forgot to keep beating, but nothing would come out. Instead, he hugged him tighter, hoping to never let go.

Dean stormed back into the bunker hours later without a passing glance at Sam, a bottle of bourbon in his hand and a blanket of guilt wrapped around his shoulders. When he opened the door to his room, he hoped to see Cas, to finally say all the things he should’ve said so long ago, but the door opened to an empty room.

Closing the door behind him, Dean tipped the amber liquid into his mouth, thankful for the familiar burn, almost as familiar as the layer of guilt he’d worn for so many years. Cas, I’m sorry, he whispered to himself. “I wish I’d had the balls to tell you how I felt a long time ago, but I’m a coward, I’ve-”

A quick flap of Cas’ wings brought Dean’s attention to the angel’s presence. “Dean Winchester, you are not a coward.” Though his deep blue eyes teemed with tears, his words were adamant. “I did not raise a coward. I have not been stuck by a coward’s side for the past ten years. I-”

“Cas, I didn’t call you. How?”

“I heard you.”

Dean placed the bottle of bourbon on the nightstand next to his bed, his gaze following suit, the heaviness of the moment too much for him to bear just yet. The desire to just be was at war with his desire to protect, to push away. “Michael could come back, Cas. You could-”

“That’s my choice,” he retorted. In the forest green eyes of the man he loved, he saw his feelings reflected, but years of loss made him painfully hesitant. Cas took a step closer and swallowed the growing lump in his throat. “Dean, we’re always fighting. Always. Let’s face it, we don’t know anything else at this point, but-”

“But at least we’d have each other,” Dean finished.

Dean finally allowed himself to lock eyes with Cas - the feeling familiar and calming, yet always sent his heart racing.

Not another word was spoken as Cas backed Dean into the wall of his room, his lips hungrily searching for Dean’s. He’d thought Dean would be hesitant, but he wasn’t. His hands searched for Cas’ shirt, fingers hurriedly unbuttoning as he pulled the material free and moaned into the angel’s mouth.

Cas lifted the hem of Dean’s shirt, grazing his fingers along the scar-ridden skin before pulling the material over his head. When he laid his hand on the mark he’d left on Dean’s shoulder so long ago, Dean switched their positions and pushed Cas back into the wall.

As Dean dropped to his knees, Cas threw his tie to the ground and let his coat and shirt pool behind him. Dean pulled Cas’ cock free of his pants and pushed them down around his ankles, taking the tip into his mouth while he watched Cas’ mouth drop open.

Dean grazed his hand up Cas’ thigh and cupped his balls, running his finger between them while his tongue swirled around the length of him. Cas’ hand fell gently onto the mark on Dean’s shoulder, making him feel wanted, loved, safe. Hearing Cas’s voice pushed Dean to take him down further, go faster, but Cas wasn’t about to let this be over that quickly. Not after 10 years. He slipped his hand under Dean’s chin and guided him to a standing position.

Dean’s lips were slick with spit, eyes glassy as he walked backward toward the bed. Cas pulled on his bottom lip, hands skating up the length of his spine before he pushed him down on the bed and grabbed some lubricant from Dean’s side drawer.

Moaning, Dean dug his shoulders into the bed as Cas massaged the lube into his skin. “It’s been ten years, Cas. No more foreplay.”

Cas chuckled, expecting nothing less from the man he loved. Bending down, he kissed Dean and he slipped his cock passed the tight right of muscle. They moaned into each other’s mouths, grasping for each other and the surrounding sheets as Cas pumped himself inside Dean.

Underneath the angel, Dean reached down to cup Cas’ balls as they slapped against his ass. “Fuckin hell, Cas.”

“You’ve always had a mouth on you,” he replied with a laugh.

Dean spoke on a moan. “You think that’d change now?”

There was some kind of a response floating around in Cas’ head, but as Dean clenched around him all thought disappeared, his control waning despite his best efforts. He wanted this to last longer, to memorize the sounds he made, the way he tasted like whiskey, the feel of his muscles straining under his touch, but Dean pulled him down into a kiss so hungry it broke Cas’ resolve.

When Cas came, he wrapped his hand around Dean’s cock and pumped him hard, silencing his cry with a kiss when Dean finally let go. With a satisfied sigh, a heavy weight lifting from his soul, Dean slid back into his spot on the bed, tapping next to him. “Stay?” He asked.

Supernatural Star Jensen Ackles Is Ready for What’s Next. Are You?

When it was announced that beloved CW series Supernatural was ending after 15 years, fans were crushed. But there's plenty to look forward to before saying goodbye. Here the show's star opens up about the “beautiful” final episodes, his next move, and how he finally got his hands on Baby.

Jensen Ackles’s Supernatural journey began and ended with a road trip.

Fifteen years ago Sam and Dean Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki and Ackles, respectively) began their drive across the country in a jet-black 1967 Chevy Impala, hunting monsters, demons, and, eventually, God himself. Ackles was 26 years old at the time (the same age as the James Dean–like figure he portrays on the CW series), single, and coming off a steady career on TV, including a popular role on Days of Our Lives.

“It was a sprinter van,” he tells me, back at home in Austin, after driving to the East Coast with his wife, One Tree Hill actor Danneel Harris Ackles, and their three young children. And instead of fighting the forces of evil along the way, he questioned what life might look like without the show that's been a vital part of his identity for a decade and a half.

“I needed to get back home and start figuring things out and start unpacking my life that's been in Vancouver for 15 years,” he says. “What's the next move? Where am I headed next? What interviews am I going to do? Luckily, my wife was like, ‘Stop. Can you just take a breath for a minute and play with your kids on the beach?’”

So he did. But now he’s back, talking to me over Zoom with his new, prized commissioned drawing of Winchester brothers’ smashed-up Impala behind him (a gift from his wife by artist Alessandro Paglia), trying to put into words what it feels like to leave behind a 15-year legacy.

“How have you changed in the last 15 years?” he asks me. Well, I've watched a lot of Supernatural, to be honest.

Existentialism aside, Ackles is clearly ready for his next act, even if the show's massive, fervent fandom—known as the SPN Family—may not be. Back in March 2019, Ackles, Padalecki, and their costar Misha Collins devastated diehards when they announced they'd be ending the series on their own terms after more than 300 episodes. A bit of good news is that fans will still have the conventions that honor the show and cast meet-ups that take place all over the world. Eventually.

“I love how big it's gotten and how we feel like a traveling circus going from town to town,” Ackles says. “Obviously, we'll have to wait until we're all allowed to gather in large crowds again, but I think as soon as we can start going to concerts and festivals and movie theaters, we'll start those back.”

For now Ackles is preparing for his life beyond Dean Winchester, which includes his anticipated role as the first-ever superhero in season three of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys, as well as a new production company he's starting with his wife. He filled me in on all that, how the Supernatural finale changed due to COVID-19 restrictions, and, of course, how he got his hands on the iconic 1967 Chevy Impala—which he drove to Starbucks the morning of our call.

Glamour: I almost don’t know how to ask you how it feels to end a life-changing, 15-year project like Supernatural.

Jensen Ackles: I understand how rare it is and that it's a bit of a unicorn to have a show that runs this long and to be as intensely part of it as I have. I mean, you've got procedural dramas—you know, Law & Order and stuff—but a lot of those casts come and go. To have the same two leads in every single episode for 15 years, I think, is a pretty rare feat. So I'm proud that we did it. That was really the overwhelming feeling when we filmed our last day and our last scene. It wasn't a mourning process; it was more of a proud moment of “Look at what we've done.”

The finale of Supernatural was already planned before COVID hit. Did anything in the last two episodes have to change because of filming restrictions?

We had to drop some ideas we had for the final episode, but it didn't change the story. We were supposed to have a lot of familiar faces come back, and we were going to try to filter them into a montage. It was going to be almost a break from the story and a look at how far we've come—a little tip of the hat to the fans—and we would all be able to celebrate together. Obviously, we couldn't do that. So that part of the finale episode got nixed. But the story and how it ends up, that stayed the same.

You’ve been talking about wanting Dean’s Chevy Impala, Baby, for literally years now. Did you get it?

I've wanted it since the second episode. I was like, “Wait a second. What's going to happen to this car when it's over?” I've been angling to get that car since literally season one. I was thinking, Why wouldn't they give me the car?

Then as the years went on, I thought, Oh, I'm gonna have to fight for this now. So I kept seeing if I could put it in my contract, like for years and years, and the studio, the producers were like, “Don't worry, don't worry about it.” Wink. I was like, “Yeah, you say that now.” So, in my last contract that we had, I didn’t ask for a bigger trailer; I didn’t ask for more money or more time off or anything. I said, “I want the car.”

That car is sitting about 40 feet from me and my garage. I actually drove it to Starbucks this morning and picked up some coffee.

Your wife, Danneel, has been appearing on Supernatural since season 13. Do you two have any plans to continue acting together?

You two already run a brewery, Family Business Beer Company, together while raising a seven-year-old and three-year-old twins. How do you work together as husband and wife versus as business partners?

Very similarly actually. Divide and conquer.

Speaking of behind-the-scenes roles...you’ve directed five episodes of Supernatural. Any plans to direct Jared Padalecki's new show, Walker?

I would absolutely love to, but with my new gig on The Boys, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to. We're trying to figure out scheduling.

They're in the midst right now of building my costume for The Boys, which is a custom-built superhero suit. That is way more intense than I anticipated, which is cool. But I have to literally be in L.A., like, every two weeks for the next three months. I think it's six fittings and they're each like three- to four-hour fittings. They're literally molding things to my body, so it's intense.

What will be on your playlist for you to listen to while they mold things to your body?

To be fair, the first time we see him, it's World War II. So we're talking the ’40s. So we listened to big band and swing the whole first day.

Looking at my kids and being a father, I’m thinking, Wow, what kind of world are they gonna have? So I've started to listen a little more and I've started to want to understand other people's experiences so that I can make a better choice about the actions I take. I've gotten pushback—[in the past] even I've looked at actors using their platform to be political and been like, “You know, nobody needs to hear that. Just do your movies and do your show. You're not a politician.”

But I've now learned that, no, you've been given a platform now with social media. And even before that, when you would give an interview to a publication, there's a voice there that is yours and you get to choose how you use that. And I think that's a responsibility that people need to take seriously. So I’ve tried to do it as inclusively as possible.

Before I let you go, please tell me what fans can expect from the final episodes?

I've said a few times that the second-to-last episode really feels like the season finale and that the final episode feels like a series finale. The series finale, episode 20, is this beautiful throwback to the whole show—to what it was, what it has been, and what it is today.

Okay, one more! What’s the creepiest thing that’s happened to you on set, in honor of spooky season?

If your lore is correct, that is...

Right? That's true. [Laughs.] Oh, it was pepper, not salt? Damn it!

A/N: I have this recurring dream of Dean’s ghost leaning against Baby just waiting for me. When I read the plot bunny, I just had to use it. As I was writing this piece, I realized all the different possibilities the story could have gone in. I am not happy with the ending it’s not the one I envisioned for this piece. I am making do due to time constraints. I would appreciate any kind of feedback both positive and negative.

Chuck Shurley once said, “This 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car…no, the most important object in pretty much the whole universe.” That is why it is such a shame to find it on a used car lot in Phoenix, Arizona. William crawled around under the Impala, checking hoses and clamps. He opened the hood and checked the fluids. The engine compartment appeared clean. “How many owners did it have?”

“Two has far as we can tell,” the salesman replied, “originally from Kansas.” He shoved his hands into his plaid trousers and rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet.

“It looks clean, but the mileage is high. How much were you asking for this again?”

“Fifteen thousand. It’s a classic. Don’t find to many like this anymore.”

William ran his hand over his buzz cut hair. “I don’t know man. It’s more than what I wanted to spend on the little lady. Would you take ten for it?”

“Let me run it by my manager and see what he thinks,” the salesman ran into the trailer that was being used as an office leaving William out by the car.

He hoped she would put out after all the money he was spending on her. So far, she was nothing but a wet blanket. He wined and dined her. Bought her clothes and jewelry but still she kept blocking his advances.

Buzz, Buzz the sound pulled him from his thoughts. Buzz, buzz he pulled his phone from his pocket and glanced at it. Abitch displayed on the screen. If it wasn’t the little lady. The salesman came out of the office waving him over just as he was going to accept the call. Instead he swiped decline sending her to voicemail. William slipped the phone back into his pocket and ran up to the salesman.

“I can go as low as thirteen. Just need you to fill out some paperwork and we will get you on your way and to show there’s no hard feelings I’m throwing in a few coupons for a free steak dinner.” William shook his hand and followed him into the trailer.

They sat down at a small table with a laptop on it. “Just need a copy of your driver’s license.” William pulled his wallet out of his back pocket. Opened it and slid his driver’s license over to the salesman. The lights started flickering, “that’s been happening a lot lately,” the salesman smirked, “hope the power doesn’t go out before we finish the paperwork.”

Y/N heard a rumble coming down the road. When it stopped in front of her house, she looked out the window and saw a gorgeous black car. She let out a groan when William stepped out of the vehicle. He was starting to get on her nerves. She had tried calling him earlier to cancel their date tonight, but he never returned her call. After the crappy day she had she didn’t want to put up with his unwanted advances. She was seriously considering breaking up with him, but her parents had their entire retirement riding on the business deal with his parents. If she broke up with him now the deal falls through and their retirement is gone.

The doorbell chimed as she was trudging down the stairs. She plastered on a fake smile before opening the door. “William, so nice to see you.”

He looked her up and down, then frowned. “You’re not ready.”

“You didn’t return my call earlier today. I’m really not feeling that well.”

“I got stuck in a meeting. We can always stay in tonight. Cuddle up with some movies.” He wiggled his eyebrows at the suggestion.

She looked around him to the driveway. “Did you get a new car?” Her eyes going wide.

“You want to go for a ride?”

“Give me a minute,” she said aloud. What are you doing Y/N thought to herself? You were just trying to cancel a date with the sleaze ball and now you’re going for a ride with him. Remember your parents. “It’s all about the parents.”

“What was that?”

Oops that wasn’t supposed to be said aloud. She was having problems keeping thoughts in her head tonight. “How are your parents?” She quickly covered as she finished slipping her shoes on and grabbed her wallet and keys.

“They’re doing good. There is some charity event coming up. They would like us to attend,” he replied.

She rolled her eyes as she locked the door. Y/N turned around and walked over to the car. She ran her finger across the hood and along the side following the contour of the automobile. “Hello, baby.”

William looked at her from across the top of the car. “Did you just call her baby?”

“Yeah, that’s her name.” She shrugged

“You name your cars?” He gave an incredulous expression. Y/N open the passenger side door and sat down on the bench seat. She rubbed her hand across the worn leather and caressed the dash.

“Doesn’t everyone? Who wouldn’t name their trusty steed?”

“You know it’s a car not living thing?” He scoffed. Starting the car up the engine roared to life. The vibration of the engine sending waves of pleasure through Y/N’s bones.

Y/N reached over and turned on the radio AC/DC’s Back In Black playing through the speakers. She starts headbanging to the beat of the song fingers tapping out the rhythm as she sings along. “You like this crap?” He questions as he changes the station.

“Let me guess you like Jazz music?” She looks over at him. His eyes stay on the road.

“Actually, I prefer Hip Hop.” The radio starts changing again and stops on Highway to Hell.

“Y/N would you please stop that,” he said irritated.

“That wasn’t me.”

“My hands are on the steering wheel and the only person in the car is you.” Y/N shivered. She turned on the heater. “What did you do that for?”

“It’s cold in here,” She said rubbing her arms.

The lights started flickering on and off in the car. “What the hell? I can’t believe that sleaze ball would sell me this piece of crap.” The car stalled in the middle of the road. William started banging on the steering wheel. Y/N opened the door. “Where are you going?” He growled.

She got out of the car and opened the hood. She started wiggling the wires around on the battery terminal. It all looked good. “You know I checked all of that before I bought the dumb thing,” he said. “There was a store a couple of miles back. I’m going to see if I can get some help.”

“Yeah you do that,” Y/N mumbled. Something was off and she was bound and determined to figure it out. “I haven’t spent most of my life learning about cars just to be stuck on the side of the road.” She opened the trunk up to see if there were any tools she could use.

She wasn’t expecting to find anything useful and was shocked to find a false bottom. When she lifted it up it was full of weapons. She began to wonder about William and if he was really a mass murderer. She was so lost in thought she never heard the footsteps coming up behind her.

“Where’s Winchester?” A voice snarled. Y/N turned around at the voice. A willowy man approached her.

“Who?” She questioned. Everything within her was telling her to run away.

“Dean Winchester, that’s his car.” He kept approaching her.

She looked confused. “Who is Dean Winchester?” She gulped as he stopped inches from her.

“Oh, this is sweet.” He ran his finger down her cheek. “You’re driving his car and you don’t know who he is?” He sneered at her. His gaze vacant and dead. Her eyes darted around looking for a way out of the situation. The air around her cooled. “Don’t even think about running, hun.” There’s nowhere to go and there are more creatures like me out in the woods.”

“Cr-crea-creatures like you?”

“I was just going to end this quickly, but perhaps I’ll keep you around. You’re fun to play with.” This time when he smiled, she could see his fangs. The vampire went flying against a nearby tree as Y/N’s body shuddered.

She doesn’t know how it happened, she couldn’t control her body. It was moving on its own. She grabbed a machete out of the trunk then stomped over to the vampire slicing his head off. She poured gasoline on his body and lit a match. “Adios bitch,” her voice was deep and gravely.

She put everything back in the trunk of the Impala got in the driver's seat and drove off into the night. She drove for sixteen hours straight and didn’t stop until she got to Lebanon, KS. She pulled up to a large building, its entrance was rather small and nondescript. It was located near the road but was almost below ground level. She opened the door and entered the room standing on a balcony.

Y/N was blown away by what she saw. There was a room filled with old electronic equipment. A table with the map of the world on it that glowed. The room adjacent to all the computer equipment contained a library and was decorated in lavish style. The walls were covered with bookcases and filing cabinets. At the end was a very large telescope. The central area featured a long wooden table and much of the furniture and decor were from decades past. She sat down in a comfortable looking chair and fell asleep.

“What happened?” Y/N groaned as she woke up. “And where the hell am I?” She looked around at her surroundings. The lights flickered and the air in the room chilled.

“Sorry about that,” a gravelly voice said. She looked to the source of the sound and saw a tall bow-legged man materialize out of thin air.

“What the…,” she said as her eyes grew wide. “Please don’t hurt me!” She yelled.

“I’m not gonna hurt you,” he said raising his hands up in a placating gesture.

“You’re...you’re...you’re a gho...ghost,” she stuttered.

“Yeah, I wish you didn’t have to find out like this.” His face looked sad. “But all the things that go bump in the night. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, they’re all real.”

“Werewolves? Is that what...”

“No that was a vampire. My name’s Dean by the way.” He placed his hands in his pockets.

“Hi, Dean, I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you.” She stuck her hand out to shake his hand. He grinned and shook his head to indicate no.

“I’ve used too much energy as it is now. If I tried to shake your hand I would just phase through.”

“Oh,” she replied. “No offense but where am I?” She glanced around the room.

Dean got a gleam in his eye. “I like to call it the Batcave, but really it’s a Men of Letters bunker. The safest place in the world.”

“The men of who?”

“Men of letters. It’s Illuminati for the supernatural. I want to show you something.” Dean flickered.

Y/N stood up and followed him down a hallway he stopped in front of a door with an Aquarian star with the number 11 in the middle of it. “It should be in here,” he said. Dean phased through the door. She turned the doorknob and entered the room.

There was a bed along with a desk and reading light, against it was a photograph of a blonde-haired woman. The room was decorated with guns and weapons. On the back wall hung an axe like weapon with a bone handle fastened to a long obsidian blade with a piece of leather. “Wow,” she said.

“In the desk drawer is my journal.” She could now see through Dean. He was fading fast. “It should answer…” He was gone.

“What have I gotten myself into?” she mumbled aloud. She went over to the desk and opened the drawer. Inside she found a leather-bound journal. Sitting on the bed she flipped through the pages she realized it was all about different types of monsters and how to kill them. Before Y/N realized it, she was fast asleep on the memory foam mattress.

The sound of the Imperial March from Star Wars woke her up. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes with the palm of her hands and pulled her cell phone from her pocket and glanced at the screen. She missed a call from William and just like always he didn’t bother to leave her a message. Y/N rummaged around in the dresser and found a pair of sweats and an AC/DC tee-shirt that she changed into.

Feeling a little more presentable she found her way to the kitchen and surprisingly it was stalked with canned and dry goods. She placed some coffee grounds into the coffee maker added some water and flipped the switch to on. Coldness wrapped around her.

“You look good in my clothes.” The whisper in her ear sent a shiver down her spine. She closed her eyes wishing she could see the handsome ghost with the pretty green eyes again. “Did you read the journal?” She heard.

Y/N turned around and slowly opened her eyes. Dean stood in front of her she noticed the freckles on his face. “I did,” she replied.

“So, you sacrifice yourself to save the world, thank you by the way. What happened to your brother?”

“Sam? I’m not sure. Thought he would be here.” The Imperial March started playing again. Y/N rolled her eyes and declined the call. “Shouldn’t you answer that?”

“He can’t bother to answer my calls I’m not going to answer his.”

“Won’t he worry about you?” Dean asked concerned.

“I figure it’s been roughly three days since the night with the vampire.”

“About that yeah,” Dean agreed.

“And he is just now calling me after leaving me stranded on the side of the road. What the hell kind of douche is that?”

“You can do so much better than him.” Dean smirked.

“Tell that to my parents. They’re the reason I’m with him to begin with. Some sort of business arrangement with his parents.”

“We should get you back to Phoenix, sweetheart. To your family and friends.” He pushed a strand of hair back behind her ear. She sighed at the gesture. We can stop at a diner in town for some food.” He tossed her the keys to the car. “You can drive. Don’t scratch my baby.”

Y/N walked up to the door. Her mouth went dry, so she licked her lips and swallowed down a gulp of air. She knocked on the door.

“Y/N/N, sweetheart,” she could hear Dean’s voice in her ear, “you should really just take the car and leave.”

“What’s going on Dean?”

“Trust me, the guy's a douche.” She rang the doorbell then knocked on the door as loud as she could.

“William!” She frantically kept pounding on the door. “Answer the door!” She rang the doorbell a few more times for good measure.

“Who’s trying to break down the door?” She heard a female voice say.

“William are you in there?�� Y/N said. She heard a click as a lock was undone and a tall, thin woman with blonde hair appeared as the door cracked open.

“What do you want?” She was wearing a button-down shirt that barely covered her ass. Her legs were bare and no underwear on. Y/N took in her appearance and the disheveled look of her hair.

“I want to talk to my boyfriend,” Y/N said pushing the door open and walking into the house. “Where is the bastard?” She walked past the woman to the master bedroom. “What the hell she yelled?”

“Y/N what are you doing here?” William looked at you, confusion on his face. “Thank goodness you’re okay. I’ve been worried about you.”

“I can see that,” Y/N said. “How long have you been fucking her?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking.”

“You go ahead and keep that piece of shit.” The lights flickered again. This time she could smell leather, gunpowder, and mint in the room.

“I know Dean. You know you really shouldn’t talk about Baby like that,” Y/N said.

“Who the hell is Dean? There is no one else here except for us three.” Y/N glanced at the blonde and shrugged.

“He’s the former owner of the car that’s going to haunt your ass if you don’t behave.”

Willie rolled his eyes and scoffed. “You know there is no such things as ghosts, right? You have definitely lost your damn mind.”

“Boo!” Dean said as he flickered next to Willie. Willie jumped and the blonde’s eyes got wide with fright and she ran out of the room crying.

“I don’t even want to know how you pulled that trick but keep the car. You’ll be crawling back before too long.” Y/N turned and left the room.

She saw the blonde in the living room sitting on the couch. “Sorry I scared you. Won’t happen again,” Y/N said as she walked out the door slamming it shut behind her. She got into the Impala and drove away into the night blaring AC/DC’s Shoot To Thrill.

Nathanial Rowland, 27, was tried in Columbia, South Carolina for the 2019 death of Samatha Josephson, 21, a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. As the details are emerging daily from the trial on YouTube modern technology has taken the center stage.

On March 23, 2017, Josephson was celebrating her upcoming graduation and full scholarship she had received to attend law school in Philadelphia. After several hours of drinking with friends, she phoned for an Uber and waited in the parking lot of a popular bar for the car. When Rowland’s 2017 black, Chevy Impala swooped in she rushed to get in the back seat, thinking this was her ride. That was the last time she was seen alive. Her dead body was discovered in rural woods within 14 hours. She had been stabbed, beaten and cut over 100 times.

Rowland claims someone else took his car while he was passed out asleep at a party, pretended to be an Uber driver, killed Josephson, and returned his car to him full of blood, her clothing, her cell phone, keys to her apartment, and the murder weapon—a Swiss-Army-like tool.

What makes this case stand out from other crimes is the sheer amount of visual videos and records from cell phones that were discovered after that night. First, there is a clear video of Rowland’s car when Josephson gets in the back seat. There is also a video of Rowland an hour before this event (clearly awake and not passed out at a party) as he is getting food at a Wendy’s in the same neighborhood. The receipt for the food for only one person is found in his car. While being filmed at Wendy’s he is shown digging around for spare change in order to pay for his order. No one else is in that car.

On the day after the murder, Rowland is filmed going into a cell phone store, wearing a beanie belonging to Josephson that was eventually tested and shown to contain her blood. He tried to sell her phone, but the clerk refused to buy it as it appeared to be stolen merchandise since it was a pink iphone that was locked and Rowland did not have the password.

More video from two branches of Josephson’s bank show Rowland walking up to the ATM wearing a hoodie pulled down around his face so that all was showing were his eyes. He tried to sign in 3 times at one location and 9 times at another, but failed to get any money. Later during the sentencing phase of the trial, Josephson's mother tells the court her daughter only had $35 in the bank.

Although prosecutors do not have to prove motive, testimony was given that Rowland had not paid his cell phone bill and also had tried to borrow money for a car payment. Did he kill Josephson for cell phone and car payment money?

The most dramatic proof of his guilt came when he was identified at those two ATM locations as he had borrowed a specific kind of black house shoes with red soles known as Adidas slides from a girlfriend. He was often seen wearing these shoes shown on the ATM videos.

Another way that modern technology was at work even though Rowland was not aware, the iphone belonging to Josephson was being tracked that night. When she got into the car, she was talking to her boyfriend 2 hours away in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She told him she was getting in a black Impala. Less than a minute after getting in that car, her phone went dead. The boyfriend tried 70 times to text and phone her that night. His phone contained an app that was hooked in with the same app on her phone so they could track each other’s locations. His phone tracked the journey she took in that car all the way out to the road where her body was dumped.

He knew something was wrong, but he did not know what. He was hoping she had gone home with a friend, but he phoned everyone he knew and no one had any answers. He reported her missing within the next few hours and the search was on. Rowland’s phone was also tracked that night. Both phones were in his car taking that route to the site in the woods where her body was found.

When law enforcement located the video of a black Chevy Impala driving away with Josephson inside, they put out a BOLO. Later that night, a police officer spotted such a car and stopped it with a blue light flashing. When he approached the car, the officer smelled a heavy odor of pot, he asked the driver for identification and was told he had none. He asked the driver to step out of the car and this is when Rowland made a run for it on foot. He was chased down several blocks away and placed in handcuffs. While he was on the ground, he yelled, “I can’t breathe,” even though he was not face down, but face up with his hands behind him.

The officers called for an ambulance with four paramedics. They asked him several times for his name and he would not answer. He said nothing except, “I can’t breathe.” They picked him up and had to carry him to the ambulance as he refused to walk. The paramedics took his blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen level; all were normal. They asked him if he wanted to go the hospital for more medical attention. He refused to speak. They waited several minutes and took his oxygen level again before transporting him to the jail.

This trial has gained a lot of attention. Although support for Rowland appears to be weak from the black community, many are saying a jury may be hesitant to find a black man guilty in today’s racially charged climate. However, in one hour and eight minutes the jury returned with guilty verdicts in all 3 charges.

Next, the judge allowed anyone who wanted to speak to address the court. Josephson's parents, sister, and boyfriend spoke about how her murder had ruined their lives. Rowland's parents spoke, but his mother was cut short by the judge when she claimed her son did not do these crimes. "I will not allow you to say he did not do this," the judge said. He told the court that he had never seen such a heinous murder and the proof was overwhelming. "You raised a good child, but he is a man now and he did these crimes," the judge said.

The judge sentenced Rowland to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
