The standard features of the A3 are the MMI infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a 7-inch display, a 10-speaker audio system, HD Radio, and satellite radio. Available features include wireless charging, a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, navigation and an upgraded MMI touch-enabled MMI infotainment system that can recognize handwriting. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is also available. It replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch digital display that displays navigation and media information, as well as driver gauges.

The MMI infotainment interface features a tablet-like retractable screen with sharp graphics and an intuitive menu layout. You can operate it using a touch panel on top of a knob mounted between the seats. The Virtual Cockpit displays much of the same information as the standard screen, so drivers can use themselves more frequently on this screen.

2020 Audi A3 Engine

Audi offers the A3 with four powerful engine options that deliver fast acceleration. All are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The base four-cylinder of 184 hp contains more than enough muscle for most drivers. The four-wheel-drive models get extra power with their version of this 228-speed engine. The high-performance Audi S3 and Audi RS 3 versions have stronger turbo engines. The S3’s four-cylinder produces 288 horsepower, while the RS-3 four-cylinder delivers 394 horses. The RS 3 can go from zero to 60 km / h in about four seconds.

The A3 front-wheel drive gets a good fuel economy rating for the class: 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The numbers drop to 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway in four-wheel-drive models, and the performance-oriented S3 gets 22/29 mpg city/highway.

The standard active safety features of the A3 include Audi Pre Sense Front, which includes forward collision and braking assistance, and Audi Pre Sense Basic, which prepares the vehicle for an impending collision by closing the windows and sunroof and activating the warning lights and tighten the seat belts. A rear camera is also standard. Available driver assistance features include customizable cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, parallel parking assistance and Audi Side Assist, a safety package that includes overall traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.

The A3 in 2020 achieved the highest score of Good in all six crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and was named a Top Safety Pick. Headlight ratings vary by the finish. The Premium finishes received the lowest price from Poor for how well they lighted the way forward, while the Premium Plus finishes achieved the one to the highest price as acceptable. In the front-end crash prevention test, the A3’s standard system achieved the highest rating of Superior.
